Quote:I see Scrappers going after each box just fine. It's nothing special for stalkers, really. After Stalker uses Assassin strike, he reveals himself and those around him. However, "unsuppressed" in Dark Armor and Energy Aura (on both Brute and Scrapper) may not attract nearby mobs.Have any stalkers gone solo box hunting in Lambda? Has it worked out well? Has anyone seen if the boxes are equally resistant to all types of damage?
The thing is for every Stalker you add to the team, you lose one spot for potential better supporter. I don't think Stalker is useless. I just don't see Stalker being "special" in these two trials. And really, you can destroy and survive better as an organized team than trying to do it on your own. -
I've done Lamba 3 times and Stalkers would not make any meaningful difference. Stalker doesn't have suppressed stealth so it's not like they can stealth in to destroy crate (unnoticed) for Acid/Grenade. Basically I see Scrappers/Tankers running to each mob and kill. There is nothing special a Stalker can do here.
I've only done BAF once last night for the first time and I can see Assassin Strike being "mildly" useful on a running Lieut, although my Hovering Fortunata has no problem killing any running Lieut because I have +range and my damage is high enough.
I do see that there are "glowies" all over the map. I think you click them to shut down the cannon? I am too new to BAF but maybe Stalker or anybody with stealth can shut them down. There is nothing special that a Stalker can do here.
As for killing AVs within 10s of each other, I can see Stalkers being helpful but Assassin Strike damage is not enough. How's Stalker contributing before the last fight? I think the last part requires team-work than just Stalker's spike damage because there are also many ambushes coming. In that situation, you are probably better off with more buffs/debuffs or general "tanking".
I see "unsuppressed" stealth being a bit more useful in trials to be honest. -

By the way, I only got exp for Interface in Lamba and I believe the other trial gives Judgment exp. Which one gives Destiny and Lore then?
-
I don't mind grinding as long as it's fun and very rewarding. :P
This is not the ONLY game that grinds... -
Quote:Yeah, time spent on making more high level content like Incarnate and Trials is definitely better than trying to fix PvP in this game.Hey man, didn't see your post until today. I actually gave up on PvP, so I don't bother with it anymore. Been enjoying the PvE since I came back a few months ago...doing lots of TF's and the Incarnate stuff.
PvP is just too broken to bother with. Just by giving up on it and switching to PvE, I went from despising this game and everybody involved in making it, to actually being a CoH fan again
One of my friends who left this game went to WoW because he really enjoys the high level Raid content. Recently he came back and he is very happy with all the new "high-level" stuff. Now he can't decide which new ability to try first and he loves more "work"! "Work" as in doing trials to get Threads and Exp. -
-
One more quick question. I don't want to create a new thread for it but when I click "join" in LFG, do all members on my team que with me at the same time (so we go in as a team of 8) or it's all random?
I am asking this because 2 other friends were on my team and we que up and both of them crashed. When they came back, we were in the same Trial but just not on the same team.
I am not too familiar with the new buttons for combining league teams and I know my friends only want to play on the "same" team. -
Quote:Ah good. I'll remind my friends to leave two power slots open for the temp powers so they don't have to drag out a new one after they used it.1.) When both teams destroy a glowie, the time is extended and you'll see a message on the screen stating "Dual Assault Slows IDF Response".
2.) It's randomly dropped onto someone who is on the map when the glowie is destroyed. That's why everyone needs to check their temp power lists at the end. They could've been across the map and still gotten an acid/nade.
3.) You can have multiple, and they can be dragged/dropped onto other players from the powers menu.
They allow you to get more than one Grenade/Acid? Ah... ! -
So last night I tried Lamba 3 times and failed 3 times. I am not mad or anything as 90% of the people that were with me don't have any experience with the new trials so it's kinda fun learning it the "hard way" and we only had about 8 people. The good news is I still got the Exp I need to unlock Interface.
I have some questions. I think I know how to beat this trial but I need a bit more info:
1. The 3rd part of mission where you beat the Elite Big Robot in the room. After it's dead, we need to split into two teams. One going forward into the hallway to get Grenade and one go up using the elevator to get Acid. My question is at one time we "extended" the timer so the main AV doesn't come out as fast. How do we extend the timer? I don't recall what we did but we extended for a bit (because the Blue Text shows up). Do we need to destroy Crate and Container at the same time? We basically just kill container and move on to next.
2. What determines who get Grenade or Acid? I am assuming one of the members from the team that kills the Acid/Grenade gets it? I know on the last map (the open area), we had two small teams and when we killed the spawn point for Incubation (Acid), one of the 8 people got the Acid. At one point, one person quit and I think he got the Acid because the remaining 7 people didn't get Acid after we killed Incubation.
3. Can you get more than one Grenade/Acid? -
Put Chance for Smashing in Dominate. It rocks. You don't need that much recharge or +hold duration because you are never going to perma hold an AV and you'll have enough survival to stack holds on a single boss anyway.
Basilisk Gaze is a great one for 7.5 recharge but it also costs a lot. -
Quote:Personally I don't even put purples in my build until I hit 50 and until I actually like the toon A LOT...I mean a lot to the point that I want to get purples.Just a few comments, I personally have a hard time putting purples into a build without getting a large benefit from them.
I normally don't look at builds because a lot of times the sets are a bit "unrealistic". People start planning for purple sets at lvl 20? I think people should think about purple sets until they hit 50 and then fine-tune the build. -
I think you have too many attacks.
Between Poison Dart and Mental Blast, pick one. I actually prefer TK Blast because it's fast. Both Mental and Poison Dart are kinda slow.
I see you are a hybrid between Melee and Range. I've never tried that but I prefer all-ranged Fortunata. The raw damage is lower than melee-spec but you make it up for it with much superior survival (being range always has better survival) and easier combat (point and click).
Foresight is probably the BEST passive in the game. It gives great defense and psionic protection. You want to wait until lvl 44? -
Quote:One thing I've noticed is that the changes to PvP is supposed to draw more interests from people who don't normally PvP but the changes don't seem to draw any more new attention and the changes piss off those frequent PvPers.PVP already GOT attention because "not enough" people were interested in and participating in it. The i13 changes were brought about because of low interest and what appeared to be barriers to entry.
What did we get?
FEWER people playing it, and even HIGHER barriers to entry. Which, itself - by having fewer people playing - which "doesn't provide any incentive to increase resources spent on fixing PVP," to use your own phrasing.
Before, for instance, I knew if I had mez protection, that NPC mezzer couldn't mez me (surprise, surprise) and control ATs would have to work on it or do something to drop my toggles.
Now? Surprise, the powers work vastly differently in PVP. There is no mez protection. Resistance, yes. Among many, many other changes.
You don't want to hear people saying how bad it is now and how good it was before? Open up your ears and pay attention as to WHY they're saying what they're saying instead of dismissing it as "wah, it's not like it was." PVPers adapt to changes - when they're done reasonably.
They were not. And it cost the game the majority of the PVP community, and left VERY bad feelings among those who remain - with good reason.
So basically, the changes didn't do anything except for pissing off those who like PvP.
I never like PvP in this game and the new changes certainly don't attract me at all. It feels like what they changed is instead of Power A doing great damage, they changed it so Power B does more. So the solution to PvP is to take Power B. -
Who here is using Bane for PvP?
I am not sure if Mids is wrong but Shatter Armor's damage in PvP has base 271??! It can't critical but it does 20% resistance debuff and Bane can debuff with Surveillance first before the fight. That's a pretty big punch.
PS: Ok, Mids is definitely wrong. It is showing Spirit Shark doing 362 base damage and Mace Beam is doing 202 damage? -
Wow... just checked Mids. Thunderstrike's damage in PvE is only about 119 (with some minor aoe damage) but in PvP it does 193?? And if I remember correctly, Thunderstrike has 100% critical on the main target? That's a lot of critical damage.
On a side note, I was looking at Martial Arts' damage in PvP and it doesn't look very good. Its heaviest attack in Eagle Claw is less than 1k Cuts and the other attacks are actually doing a tiny bit less PvP damage than PvE damage.
What is MA set good for then? I wonder... -
Quote:You know...I went to RV a while ago and Tanker's Hurl was hurting me so much (I am Fortunata). They changed the damage formula so attacks that have very long activation time (like Hurl and Shark) can do a lot more damage in pvp.
Basically for a PvP stalker just make sure to throw sharks, hibernate, and phase shift mostly because those will be your bread and butter abilities.
Using that logic, a critical Shark probably does a lot of range damage which is strange.. it's almost like melee toons all of sudden are doing comparable "range" damage. What's next? Squishies taking melee attacks? -
Since you haven't tried Ninja and Merc, I can tell you they run out of endurance too especially Oni and Commando. It's not just Demon. Lich, surprisingly, doesn't use a lot of endurance at all. Zombies don't have enough attacks to cycle to drain them and Grave Knight may run out. I know bouth Jounin and Genin can run out of endurance if you don't put any -end.
-
Mmm...not sure why Ninjitsu is very good in pvp because defense is pretty crappy later on. No idea on Elec although after they changed the damage formula, I can see Thunderstrike doing good damage.
-
Other than Stalker, a buffed, charging Blaster is very very scary and a high level Tanker with tons of set bonuses is really really hard to kill. After they changed the formula, a Tanker can literally throw rocks at you and you die. lol
Controls are a lot less useful now. I remember a Domination hold used to last a long time but it now lasts like 5-6s? The hold duration is just very short now.
I've only PvP a bit after the change in arena and I find Bane is pretty good but I wasn't pvping with pvpers. It's just my friends and I were trying to get the badge and we were fooling around.
I don't know what it is but I used to PvP a lot in Guild Wars, War Hammer Online and even Champions (I like CO's pvp) but I just cannot get into pvp in this game. I can't put into words.. pvp in this game is just weird. Sometimes I feel so cheap to tp foe somebody and kill him or I get super pissed when my mastermind got tped and died so quick. -
It depends. If I am playing stalker or bane, I prefer having higher aoe defense than melee (range is the most important IMO) because if I am on a TF, I am never going to taunt the AV(s) so the only thing that would hit me hard is things like Foot Stomp (aoe), nukes and other aoe attacks.
And yeah, AoE defense is hard to cap. Aegis is the best set for it. -
Quote:Oh ok. I am just curious if you've tried comparing Wolf Soldier against other branch. I figure with proc damage, the fast shooting Wolf may not be too bad. Here you all go, my take on the ultimate bane build: 30 hp/sec regen, 119 sec rech on hasten, 244 sec rech on pets, 10 KB protection, 1784 hps, SCed to all postionals, and 40% S/L resists. Should be end sustainable. Expensive as hell though.
Also Jibikao I don't play soldier and haven't tried a wolf spider at all, but I can try a build if you give me more details.
Anyway, here's my bane attempt:
Edit: Tried tweaking the build a bit, got hps up to 1824 and s/l resists to almost 47% but at the cost of about 15% recharge. I think the link I posted (found linked in the below post) is the best balance all around. -
I actually never find killing a GM that much fun if it takes too long and I don't like spending that much time trying to Duoing a TF/SF.
However, if "fun" is a big factor, I would suggest duoing two Bane soldiers. There's a lot of smashing going on! Both of you carry leaderships and can debuff quite well.
I also do Duo Fortunata. We play on team speak so we'll let each other know before we use the nuke. One nuke per spawn is quite fun.
But if the goal is to take down GMs and duoing a TF, I think a Tanker/Brute + Corr/Defender (Sonic Blast and either Radiation or Cold Domination) is a pretty reliable choice. -
I would definitely take at least Tough if I were you. Tough decides (a lot of times!) if you get one-shotted or not. The scaling resistance doesn't make any meaningful difference on stalker's pathetically low health.
