I just downloaded the latest version. I clicked on Incarnate On but where do I find Alpha and other incarnate abilities?

Quote:Some tips:I am finding my first Dom in 63 months really squishy, I am playing on +0 x0 players finding him really dying alot. (I've played a few controllers and they don't die so much)
Doms are even squisher than stalkers has anyone got any tips. Does this get any better.
My Dom is a mind\pisonic assault btw.
1. Use Domination regularly. Don't save it forever or until you are about to die. If you just run out of domination before the final boss fight, save up your purple inspirations. With one or two purples, you can take down more bosses easily. Managing your inspirations is very important. Know your enemy's weakness. If you are fighting Carnies, save one yellow inspiration because they have higher defense against psionic damage (hence you miss more).
2. Always use the strategy, "hold one, attack another" and cycle. Mind control actually has quite a few tricks. You can Confuse one (no aggro) and hold one and attack another. If it's a group of one Lieut and one minion, it's even easier. At difficulty +0x0, you really shouldn't have any problem controlling first. If you are fighting CoT, you always hold/confuse the lieut ghosts first and same as Tsoo' Sorcerer. Once you know who to hold first, the fight ends a lot easier.
3. For Dominators to deal "good" damage, you should melee unless you are Fiery Assault with a well slotted Blaze (which won't happen until lvl 39+). -
Quote:This is true. I have not tried db on any other melee ATs.
So my hypothesis is that the more DB characters a person has, the less likely it is that they'll be able to adapt to the "new and different" stalker style of play, and thus the less fun they'll have with their DB stalker. If it's someone's first dual blades character, they'll probably have a blast with it. If it's their fourth DB character, they might very well give up at level twenty-something as I did.I am afraid that after I tried it, I'll trash something that I enjoy(ed). lol

Quote:Blah... I guess you don't want to keep chaining Attack Vital even if it has no limitation.Without running numbers on alternatives, I'd guess that Attack Vitals - chainable or not (and if you can't chain it, that would be a bug that should be reported since there's no reason it shouldn't be chainable just like every other combo that doesn't require Build Up is) - isn't the best option simply due to the crappy DPA of all of the attacks that make up the Attack Vitals chain (let's face it, Assassin's Blades is higher DPA than any of them without the DoT).
Numbers 'n' stuff:
VS: with DoT, scale 2.64 damage in a 2.640 animation time. (yay, 1.0 DS/sec)
PS: 1.1601 damage in 1.584 sec
NS: 0.84 damage in 1.188 sec
That's a total of scale 4.6401 in 5.412 seconds making a chain of DS 0.857 and change per sec.
If you want actual damage numbers for that, Stalker damage scale is 55.61 so that gives you (including the change I cut out) roughly 47.68 dps base. For comparison, Kinetic Melee's Assassin Strike, without any criticals - the closest individual attack for Stalkers - is scale 0.861 and 47.87 base dps.
PS: I've given up on submitting Bug Reports. I think all those reports were sent to a Black Hole. Even if the dev knows about the bug, Stalker issue is soooooooooo down the list of priorities. If they want to fix something, they'll ask. I just think it's a waste of time to find/submit bug reports. I used to do that all the time with mastermind and guess what? Oni is STILL taking knockback set even though he has no knockback power. It sucks that your boss pet has a bugged set which the dev doesn't feel it's important enough to fix. Give Oni Hold or Immb set or get rid of knockback set. -
Quote:Oh, Scrapper can critical with Eye Beam and Throwing Stars? That's strange.... I've tested throwing stars on Stalker and they don't critical at all. I thought it's because Scrapper's version doesn't critical and they forgot to "turn it on" for Stalker's version. blah...I am so confused.Scrapper's critical with other epic powers. I crit all the time with LBE and ET.
On topic, I'm working on my second Stalker that doesn't bother with AS. My 50 Stalker took it at 49 and never uses it. Poorly designed power IMO. Should be much quicker cast with a longer recharge.
I just don't know why Fireball can critical while throwing stars can't. And I've respec my build so I won't be testing throwing stars any time soon. I just don't think it's going to take that much time to add critical back.
Yes, I agree that Assassin Strike is a poorly designed power. I can see the limitation/restrictions for PvP purpose but the power itself is not very practical in PvE especially in high level environment. You really don't need interruption in PvE. It takes 4s and a hidden status already and it takes away some important aoe powers. -
Another side effect of AA is its "fear" component. Sometimes you have a whiny brute/tanker wanting to herd everything tight and needy and when you run in, critters start running away slowly. I have no problem with that until you fight mobs that are resisted to slow debuff (ie: wolves). You'll have to rely on holding them (since immb doesn't work on them?) or them falling down on ice patch.
I like Ice Control but it needs a bit more hard controls even for a few seconds. I actually rarely use the aoe sleep power. Maybe I should give it a try if I ever get to play ice control again.
Oh I also want to point out that one of my old favorite combos is Ice Control + Psionic when Shockwave was still "god mode". I ran in with AA and things were either feared, confused or stunned and the amount of -recharge from AA and Shockwave was amazing! Man, I miss that combo. After the shockwave nerf, I haven't played that toon in years. -
No redraw penalty between Bane's Mace and Mace mastery. However, they do look a bit different depending which one you draw out first.
-
Quote:I've always found Ice Control's lack of "hard aoe control" kinda annoying. Ice Patch is great if you drop it out of sight (so you don't get hit) but Glacier is pbaoe and so is AA. Sometimes you draw a lot of aggro to yourself with patch down and then you run in. It would be nice if Domination affects AA so even bosses can be confused even for a short duration. The why is less important than the how, I guess. AA isn't affected by Domination because Domination, itself, doesn't actually do anything to control effects. Each relevant control power is individually set to add a second, stacking control effect if Domination is active on the character.
Domination is just a flag, in other words. For whatever reason, AA wasn't set up to check for that flag. There's a small possibility that that's an oversight.
More likely, though, I think that the devs decided Arctic Air is too freely available in comparison with other wide-area control powers to benefit from Domination. Or it could be simply a quirk of the power's mechanics: because AA's confuse only has a 30% chance to fire, how exactly would you stack a second one top of that using the existing Domination mechanism? If you simply add a second 30% chance-to-fire Confuse, then AA will not benefit in the same way that other powers do from Domination.
Instead of increasing the magnitude of the control, a second Domination-prompted confuse effect would increase the probability of confused targets. (1-0.3)^2 = a 49% chance of mag 3, rather than a 30% of mag 6.
Actually yeah, the more I think about it, the more complicated that sounds from a balance perspective. Suffice to say that AA probably doesn't need to benefit from Domination. -
Quote:I am 100% sure because I've tested it. Both Power and Nimble don't have long recharge so you don't even need high recharge. You basically chain Power -> Nimble -> Vengeful. Right after Vengeful, you can't start Attack Vital combo chain again with Power Slice. You can still use Power Slice but it won't start the combo sequence. I don't know why they put such restriction. At first I thought it's because Power is part of Weaken but Sweeping is the start of Weaken, not Power Slice. So you either wait a bit or you are better off starting Weaken combo.I'm not sure this is right. If you have the recharge, it should work. I know that you can chain the Sweep combo into itself for Scrappers. Regardless, Vengeful Slice would tend to hurt your dps at the high end of recharge.
Now right after Attack Vital, a better filler is probably Ablating since it doesn't start any combo. And then you go back to Power Slice, Nimble, Vengeful. Sweeping has the best DPA but if you use it right after Attack Vital, it becomes Weaken combo which you need to end with 1K Cuts.
Believe me, if they can have a way to restrict Stalkers from being too powerful, they will; and while letting Scrappers stacking follow-up buffs. :P I am not even sure the dps number for chaining Attack Vital nonstop. I just know it's very endurance efficient that's all. -
They put a "timer" so you can't chain Attack Vital continuously. You have to use other attacks and then go back to the beginning of Attack Vital combo (or simply wait a bit but if you are waiting, you might as well use something else). Yes, it would have been a pretty good dps combo and very cheap cost too.

I made a lvl 50 MA/Will Stalker because I want to know how the dev thinks it's balanced for a set to have ZERO aoe attack. Scrapper version at least has one Dragon Tail. It's not the best aoe in the game but it's better than nothing.
Well, let's just say I am not impressed. I think for MA to work, all attacks should take less than 1.33s. MA set feels "slow" to me. Yes, each hit is pretty hard but it feels slow and I think that's what my biggest problem with the set is. Many games I've played, Martial Arts is usually a fast-attack style but besides Storm and Thunder, all the other attacks take at least 1.67s. Storm Kick is what I would expect from a Martial Art set.
Somebody did dps comparison and MA only edges out other sets with aoe by a small portion. It's not good enough to justify the lack of aoe.
I've made a lvl 27 MA/Elec Scrapper and endurance was a big problem early on because each kick costs like 8-10 end. However, Electricity Armor has some ways to deal with endurance issue (Energize) so as long as I have enough blue, I kill pretty quick. And Scrapper also has DoT aura and Shield Charge to make up the lack of aoe. Stalker does not.
Is it "viable"? Definitely. I know it's weird to complain about Stalker MA on the Scrapper forum but the set really needs to be improved further. Stalker does not need 7 Single Target attacks from the same set. Give it an aoe!!! Eagle Claw hits hard but it is still only one target. And if you are fighting something with heavy Smashing resistance, Dark Melee out dps MA with better utilities and it has a small cone. -
Looks like Jack Frost has the same "Oni" AI problem. I haven't played my Ice Dom for a long time and I remember after they took away -recharge in pets, the pets are supposed to cycle everything even at melee range. And I remember vaguely Jack Frost would cycle all of his attacks at melee range.
The "Oni" syndrome I am talking about is after Oni draws his Fire swords, he usually only uses his two Fire Sword attacks until 1. the target is dead 2. the target gets knocked back out of melee range and then Oni may use Ring of Fire or Char (and won't use his Fire Swords again). Oni has been having this problem ever since he was created. :P
So yeah, looks like the problem is with "Sword" attacks. It's like if you draw out your sword, the game tells you not to use other attacks. -
Quote:I see. I know my friend has a lvl 50 Ice/Earth and he put purple proc in it. So even with 10s rule, if one gets confused, it will "spread" out so it is still very good. The paragraph you quoted was talking about AA's inherent Confuse effect. The power ticks every two seconds. The purple proc will obey the 10s rule, but for all of the above reasons it will do more than I think most people might immediately realize.
Doesn't seem to.
Blah, I don't remember why AA isn't affected by Domination. It's not a "pet". -
Quote:Oh I thought the game only checks for procs once very 10s if it's from a toggle? So when you put the purple proc, the game checks for it whenever somebody gets confused (which happens 30% chance every 2 second)?Arctic Air ticks every 2 seconds (see "Activate Period" for toggle tick intervals). It has a 30% chance to proc the Confuse, but if the Confuse is enhanced fully, then that's basically enough to keep +0 foes perma-confused on average. "On average" is not a guarantee, obviously, and the confuse very quickly scales down against higher level foes.
I had a lvl 40 Ice dom that I haven't played for a long time. I don't remember if Domination affects AA's confuse. I think it does?
I know my friend told me that the purple proc works wonderful with AA. I just don't have the time/energy to test it myself. I know I put like 3 damage procs in it though. I figure I'll take any damage I can get but the game only checks for damage proc once every 10s (if the mobs are still within the radius).
PS: Has anyone tested it with two AA running? :P -
I really wish Reactive Fire DoT wasn't that good because it would have given me a better reason to pick other interactive. That Fire DoT is just too good to pass on even if other people are using it. I guess you can still make other interface and change them before trials since others are using Reactive. But for soloing or regular mish, Reactive is just so much better than the other 3.
My soldier actually picked -Recharge by accident. lol I wanted the -Regen instead. It is really hard to tell -recharge. -
Looks like a very expensive build with Purple sets and Hami. :P
I don't know if I would put that many slots in Hover. The most I would do is to put a +stealth but you already took Mask. Fortunata doesn't need +knockback protection from set.
You also don't have any normal aoe attack until lvl 44 patron? -
Assassin Strike sucks. Get used to it. :P
3 times in a row? How much endurance did you just spend? -
-
Looks like a Blood Widow build to me.. but I have some questions.
1. Why putting two slots in Kick?? You are not going to use it anyway.
2. I would drop Placate. Without Build Up, Placate is not worth it. I would take Confront. Some people say it helps especially against running bosses/AVs
3. If you are Blood Widow, I would take two Assault. That's 30% constant damage buff + 30% from your Follow Up. That's 60%. -
Quote:There are two sides of Dual blade story.I was playing with the idea of making a dual blades stalker. But other than a wicked looking asassin's strike, I don't think it would work out very well. It just seems like it's not that big a deal or too dependant on combos.
Am I wrong? Is it worth leveling up? I haven't made it yet, so if it's too big of a pain to level, no sweat.
Story 1: People complain that Stalker Dual Blade is not as good because you can't form two combos frequently (since they are tied to Build Up/Assassin Strike) and Scrapper/Brute have a better experience with Dual Blade. The design of Dual Blade is to form combos frequently.
Story 2: Because Stalker's dual blade performance doesn't tie up with combos as much, in situations where you miss combos, you are better off. I've heard scrapper's complaining trollers immbing too quick and the mobs are scattered. In that situation, your Stalker may perform more "smoothly". And also, your 1K Cut cone is 10' instead of 7' (it used to be 5'!) so you can hit more targets. You don't have Hyphoon though.
I made a DB/Nin 50 on Virtue and I miss him. I forgot to transfer him to Freedom when it's half priced. ugh
I will play Stalker DB again. I think it's a perfect set for both ST and AoE damage. It doesn't excel in either but it's above average for both. -
Quote:Nah, I find delaying Placate provides better gaming experience during early levels especially if you don't have a heavy hit to follow up with. Placate doesn't improve dps at all. It has better use for soloers but I rarely solo on my stalker.Nah. Unless you team a lot with something that can hold aggro, take Placate ASAP.
Whether it's used defensively to reduce the number of foes you have to fight at once or whether it's to Build Up -> Assassin's -> Placate -> crit with your best regular attack (getting Empowered in the process) on a Boss, it is one of your most valuable powers, even early on.
I find it better taking one more attack since we already take Assassin Strike at lvl 6. If you take AS + Placate, you don't have rooms left for other attacks or defensive toggles. -
Quote:I don't discriminate when I form trial teams. I simply invite whoever wants to do it and we always get a mix of everything.I can't count the amount of times such a situation has presented itself, where I'd have to decide-- especially given the large team-oriented nature of the trials. I'll take any and all buffs.
But I still think /Cold is so much better than /FF. Sure, everybody loves defense and defense is about the only good thing /FF offers. I've been so annoyed by people using Force bubble. Some powers just look good on paper but it lacks practical value (see -> Dimension Shift). -
Quote:They're not saying that Fireball critting is a bug, they're saying that, if Fireball gets a 100% crit chance from Hide, it's a bug.
Stalker ST attacks get a 100% crit chance from Hide. AoEs are only supposed to get a 50% crit chance from Hide.
Well, I've tried throwing stars from Weapon Mastery and those attacks DO NOT critical. I've submitted Bug Report 3 times. Yes, I am surprised that Fireball critical for Scrapper assuming the other 3 epic sets don't critical. That's what my concerns are.
Yes, I do know Stalker gets 100% critical from "most" ST attacks. Some AoEs have 50% and I know one has 30% (Spine Burst). I can't remember the exact number but Spine Burst doesn't have 50%. And now we have Burst doing 100% critical from hidden.
I just want them to add critical to Epic sets. And I am surprised that Scrapper can critical with Fireball and not with other epics. Can Scrapper critical with patron sets assuming they never change the coding? They didn't change the coding from scrapper to stalker so I am assuming Scrapper can critical with stalker's patron sets.
