You are more than welcome to get the Stalker version which has a bit stronger Eagle Claw with ZERO aoe attack. :P

But seriously, the dev may need to buff a bit for Tankers. Is Dark Melee different?
  2. How's Martial Arts on Tanker? It doesn't look very good on paper.
  3. Before Shatter Armor, I took Poisonous with other melee mace attacks but when I have access to Shatter Armor, I got rid of it.

The damage is not bad but it is still on the "slow" side. My only range attack is Venom Grenade.
  4. Maybe the future "exciting" plan is a non-elemental set. I am guessing it's "Whip Assault" since they already made 3 new animations for MM.

    Why no /sonic?

Sonic buffs have the same numbers as force fields. But resistance is only half as good as defense since 1 point of defense brings you a lot closer to the 45% soft cap (which means only 10% of damage reaches you) than 1 point of resistance who's soft cap is 75% and that's still 25% of damage getting through. AND it has a psi damage hole. So Ice and Force fields leave it in the dust already.

All other resistance sets have healing to make up for resistance being generally pretty crappy. Anyone who has rolled a Thermal MM know you need to heal your pets constantly to keep them on their feet. Sonic has no heals at all. Dispersion will allow you to give pets more resistance than Thermal can but it's still not going to make up for Thermal's heals.

Now let's look at the debuffs. Disruption Field is going to cost and unGodly amount of endurance for MMs to run and it left in the dust by the -res powers in thermal, ice, and weather who all have better -res and have -defense as well. Syphon means that sonic comes out on top for single target -res but still no -defense or any of those other debuffs ice and weather get with their rains. Not to mention you need a meleer to make Disruption work.

Let's forget Repulsion and Cage. Someone will argue that they know of a situation where these are useful. I prefer powers that are useful all the time, not just in one specific mission. So sonic is saddled with two completely skippable powers.

The only thing sonic has going for it is Liquefy. And if it were up as often as Freezing Rain, Earthquake, or Sleet is then I'd say it almost saves the set but Liquefy's recharge is FIVE TIMES that of those other powers.

No. The buffs and debuffs are rendered obsolete by other sets and its only crowd control has a ridiculous recharge on it. If they're going to port over Sonic then they really need to spend some time and do a LONG over due revamp of the set.
My thoughts exactly. Like I said, I am already not too thrilled with my Corr's /sonic. I still need to use aid other/self to back up resistance shields and Corr's version is supposed to be stronger. Pets have low health so even if you have extra 15% more resistance from Dispersion isn't not going to make any meaningful difference when they get hit by something +2 or +6 on minions.

My only problem with it is that this is the 3rd major proliferation and I think every AT should get at least something. I am not sporting a huge hard-on for Illusion Control. I just think that set is "ready" to be ported because the "awesome" powers in that set are pets anyway and there is no need for new animations/graphic.

What's working for Controller should work for Dominator as well and if it sucks, it sucks. It's not like Gravity control was well designed for Dominator's need anyway, but it still has one cool power in Wormhole, just like Phantom Army will be just as cool for Dominator. Dominator can skip Propel and I am sure some will skip the invisible powers.

Them not porting Illusion this time means that they are not comfortable with the current version on Dominator. And I wouldn't exactly classify Illusion as "exciting". If anything, I would guess we won't see Illusion at all (or it may be eventually a Cash Item because people want it too much). We'll see something different like Whip Assault / Crowd Control natural set. Now that's more exciting than Illusion. :P

    Necro/???

With the buff on Force Field, go with Necro/FF. Your zombies will have enough defense to survive and your tohit debuffs stack nicely with your +defense.

My lvl 50 Necro is Necro/Pain. I like Necro/Pain for the stun aura (oppressive gloom) from Soul Mastery. I am not a big fan of taunt and bodyguard. If I want to taunt, I'll play a tanker.

Just one quick question. How come there is no Circle of Thorn Lore pet? I would think CoT is one HUGE part of Lore isn't it? I am not mad or anything. I just find it odd that CoT wasn't included in Lore. You face them as one major enemy group starting at low level all the way to 50.

Can you imagine the "cry" if Dominator's Illusion Control is a nerfed version? :P

If they eventually decide to nerf Illusion, troller's version will be nerfed as well. It may get a modified version with an immb or some sort. This is pure guess of course. I do enjoy having more diversity in each powerset and Illusion is unique enough. Hopefully they don't mess with that uniqueness too much.

Ice Melee without Ice Patch will be boring IMO. They can, however, create a new short target aoe (like Fault) or pbaoe that knocks down initially so it's a good battle opener.

I don't think Ice Patch is going to mess with stalker's performance. In fact, I think it's great because Stalker can stealth in and drop Ice Patch before the fight even starts! You can't set up Assassin Strike due to aggro? Good. It gives you a reason to use something else. Assassin Strike slows you down anything. And if those that truly love AS, you can still open the battle with BU + AS.
  11. Poison Trap (oh, can they please just rename it?) is only going to be useful if they get rid of the 4s interrupt. /Poison does not have invisible and it doesn't have anchor pull like Darknest Night or FFG that can help you "avoid hits" in the crowd or Seekers that can help you take alpha. If they keep 4s interrupt, it won't be as useful.

What if the set is to good? What then? Release it and then it gets nerfed so much people are saying, why not nerf Troller version too?

Or maybe it's so bad, they need to buff it, then others are saying why not buff Troller version?

I'm sure there are plenty willing to test it, but they may not have the time to put towards making the changes to the set if any are needed.

Maybe they have plans to port it and improve it!

Turn Superior Invis and Group Invis into 1 power...toggle invis with a splash effect when cast, that way Illusion gets access to another power, that could possibly benefit Containment AND Domination.

I mean really, I can't be the only one who thought both of those powers in one set was kinda meh And I know I prefere SI over GI (why I gave my suggestion, that way it keeps everyone happy).
I just hope it won't be a "cash item" by the time Illusion Control comes to the red side.

I am not too sure if the invisible powers matter that much. I mean my Illusion troller didn't even take it. I would rather take tough/weave instead.

Yes, it is true that few powers in Illusion benefit from Domination but is the current version really that bad? And if the current version is "too good", then what does it say about Illusion/Rad that can solo so many AVs already due to Phantom Army?

I just think it's bitter that Dominator doesn't get anything this time while Blaster got two new sets and I am sure those require testing as well?

And what is this "exciting" plan?? If Illusion Control did get transferred here several months later, what's "exciting" about it? It should have happened several months earlier...

Illusion Control does not need any new animation at all. Some ATs only get one new set like Stalker and controller. They are just existing sets (although Stalker's Ice Armor has one new power, maybe not new animation)

They can easily give Dominator Illusion Control, which is an existing set. They can come up another assault later. :P

So the argument that "animation team is booked" does not stand, at least not in Illusion control. I just think it's bad business that you call it "Proliferation 3rd" when one of the core ATs (Dominator) doesn't even get anything. I am not angry or anything but I can see why some Dom fans are not happy about it when Blaster is getting two new sets. Yes, I consider Dark Blast a new set because they actually need to make two new powers (one aoe knockback and one hold), make an Aim and whatever new powers in /Dark secondary. It's like why is Blaster getting all that attention?

As for "goodies" for Dominator, well, I consider Dark/Dark a "goodie" as well and it's "free". By the time they design something new for Dominator, it may be a "Cash Item". It will certainly be a "goodie" for them. The funny thing is I'll pay for Illusion Control just because I can't stand Controller.
  14. They could have just simply ported Illusion because more than half of the useful powers are just "pets". The rest doesn't need to be modified at all.

So the fact that they haven't given Dominator Illusion Control is that it's either "too good" or "too weak". It must not pass their "standard".

Which one will it be? Too good or too bad?

I am in the mind-set that the best powers in Illusion does not require domination and those pets certainly don't benefit from containment either. So if it's good enough for controller, it should be good enough for Dominator.

So, it must be "too good" with the current form of Illusion. I can't imagine what else they need to work on if they want to port Illusion to Dominator this time. There is no need to create new animation. We can already color the powers.

I mean I am sure they will be spending more time making new dark/dark for Blaster. I find it odd. They said they don't have time to even add new effects to the old powers. I actually really want Ice/Ice for Stalker.

You know what it means right? By the time Illusion and Ice Melee are ready, they will be "Cash Items" for villains. :P The more you want to request, the more they are going to be 'cash items".

Just frozen Aura and The cone counting as you're only "aoe" that sounds a bit anemic...*Looks at the Claws and Spine sets and is horrified at how gutted out it is.* Why didn't Brutes get Ice again? No wonder most stalkers play Elec Melee! I think I need to lay down.
I think Ice Barrage is just made up for tier 1 attack. I am thinking more of X-Cuts. Slash left and right like an X with ice sword which does small cone aoe. Or they can simply keep Frost. I don't care. Frost is a good attack even on its own.

Well, just "frozen aura"... some sets like Energy Melee and Martial Arts don't even have one aoe so frozen aura along is what most stalker sets get. Kinetic Melee only has one pbaoe too (but with 100% critical).

Swap out Ice Barrage and keep Frost. We'll have:

    1) Ice Sword
    2) Frost
    3) Ice Slash
    4) Assassin Strike
    5) Build Up
    6) Placate
    7) Ice Patch
    8) Frozen Touch
    9) Frozen Aura/Greater Ice Sword.

I want to keep all the Ice Sword attacks because of Sub Zero in Mortal Kombat. If they need idea for ice melee, look at him!
  16. Can't they make it both: Target Ally and Target Self? I would imagine it shouldn't be that hard. If you don't click any target, you use it on yourself? Why does it have to be one or the other?

And if you really want me to pick, I rather it be Target Self even on Mastermind because I can maneuver way better than relying on Bruiser/Demon Prince.

    Would be my guess.

Ice Melee needs Ice Patch if it won't be in the Epics, and right now there are no Ice Epics. It's to linked to the concept not to be available to an AT with Ice capabilities.

There's a loss of Frost, but I just don't imagine them taking out Ice Sword or Ice Barrage. Now they could take out FT or IS for it, however the loss of FT and better version of GIS would be suckie.
Good list!!! I read the tanker forum and apparently Frost is a very good ice attack but it's a cone.

Well, Stalker is used to losing one aoe for Assassin Strike. If it's one we have to lose, I'll choose Frost.

Now, here is the interesting thing... who says they can't add some initial Ice Damage in Ice Patch? That shall make up the loss of aoe in Frost.

It really depends on how much they want to modify for Stalker. If they want to make it a "Cash Item", then they have more incentive to make it a good Stalker set rather than a straight boring port.

Maybe they can add a small melee Cone attack to make up the loss of Frost? I'll go with this:

    1) Ice Sword : 4s
    2) Ice Barrage : 8s cone attack
    3) Ice Slash : 10s (with no innate accuracy bonus)
    4) Assassin Strike
    5) Build Up
    6) Placate
    7) Ice Patch
    8) Freezing Touch: 16s
    9) Frozen Aura / Greater Ice Sword : 20s

From what I've read, Greater Ice Sword has the worst damage per activation ratio in the whole Ice Melee set. When you have enough recharge, Greater Ice Sword deals the least amount of damage (however it does debuff slow better than other ice attacks).

Greater Ice Sword activates in 2.33s

Ice Slash activates in 1.83s. Ice Slash also has different animation. Greater Ice Sword is like headsplitter.

They both have higher innate accuracy. I thought Greater Ice Sword doesn't.
  19. I am leveling an Incarnate Ninja/FF and while power boost + force field works wonderful, the rest of the set just seems very very situational to me. I won't say "useless" because everything has a use.

The power I hate the most is Repulse toggle. It just costs too much endurance. It already costs endurance for each foe pushed back. It makes no sense that keeping the toggle alive costs that much. It's not like Dispersion is cheap to run too.

Force Bubble... I like the idea but I don't like the large radius on my Ninja. It pushes them outside of my supremacy range because my ninjas need to keep chasing. The bubble's radius just seems too big. I can see its use if you are a troller/defense that just wants to keep foes away from you.

And of course we have another very situational power in Personal Force Field.

And because of this Stalkers are at times shunned from teams doing Trials, Task Forces and other end-game content.

Is this a valid concern? I'd love to hear about this from people actually playing the Archetype, as opposed to the random people in a PUG who cautioned me about Stalkers.

    Thanks!
Stalker is not that bad in trials because in trials, you usually have teammates around you that can boost your Critical Rate. And by the time you are doing well in trials, you already have one of the best aoe in the game - Judgment.

Stalker has bad reputation because Stalker used to be very bad. I used to see "hit and run" Stalkers that just pisses me off. I guess the critical bonus is to encourage stalkers to fight with the teammates.

If you want a good experience with Stalker, I highly recommend: Electricity Melee and Kinetic Melee. These two stand out the most. If you want more aoe, Spines is good but spines starts out really bad and its ST dps is low. I like Dual Blade but if you like combos, stalker's version will disappoint you.

Apparently even Brute wants Ice Melee/Armor. So by the time they are ready to give Villains Ice Melee, it will be a "cash item". Oh well... I am sure I'll buy it if Ice Melee is modified well for Stalker.
  22. I will trade any of Stalker-specific set for your Shield set!!!! Give me that Shield Charge darn it.

You can have Ice Armor. At this moment, I can care less about a secondary. I want Ice Melee more. They should have just ported both Ice Melee and Armor to villain side.

But if they follow debuff modifier for MM, /Sonic debuff value won't be that high. That's the problem. Freezing Rain is a "pet" so the debuff value is at 30% which is the same value for defender, corr and troller.

But again, I don't know if they are going to follow MM's modifier this time because the resistance will be quite low. I am thinking they'll keep sonic shields at corr's value but the resistance debuffs are lower. That's my guess.

In fact, looking at MM/thermal, the two fire shields have the same 15% resistance buff which is the same as Corr's. Forge buff value is less and Heat Exhaustion debuff value is less (as it should be on MM). Melting Armor is interesting because the -defense value is less but -resistance value is the same as Corr's at 22.5%.

Cold Domination has defense which fits better for pets that have low HP and lower resistance. It's better to avoid hits than to "resist" it if you don't have healing or higher HP to back it up. Cold Domination also has "Sleet" and "Heat Loss" which debuff 30% resistance because they are "pets". Frostwork can be applied at least on two pets all the time and that's +HP, which is like "Resist to All Damage Type".

It'd be hard to remove GIS as well, since that's the set's "heavy hitter", which is kind of important to a Stalker, and Frost, which I think is the most "easily sacrificed" power, but there's nothing else that works really well as a 3rd Tier power.

Previously, I'd thought they could move Ice Patch to the armor set as a replacement for Hibernate (and make Energy Absorption the Tier 9), but obviously, that didn't happen.
I think for Stalker Ice Melee version, it needs to be modified quite a bit. I think Ice Patch and Frozen Touch are the two signature powers that shouldn't be taken out. The rest is debatable. They can replace Frozen Aura with Ice Sword Circle or whatnot and get rid of frozen fist and replace it with Ice Sword and Ice Slash from Dominator's version.

I just think if they've decided to port Ice Armor, they should just finish Ice Melee on villain side.
  25. /Poison should be interesting, although Cold Domination and Radiation set a very high bar for debuff specialist.

They are going to improve /Poison with a little slash effects in weaken and envenom at least.

I think /Poison would be a fun "theme" set. Too bad they haven't designed Poison Blast to go with it. :P
