Well, I don't see those aoe sleep powers matter that much because 1. you can't stack sleep using those powers as they do damage so you are not going to re-apply procs on them 2. you still have the option to go for 75% resistance proc only.
Even if it interfers with one very minor area of the game, the DoT damage is still so much superior than other procs. You can stack dot up to 6x. That's a lot of damage over time.
Hey, at least the procs don't affect Mind control's aoe sleep. -
Quote:4 sets of uniques do help. The -30% restance from sleet (not to mention to -20% resistance proc) would go a long way toward the no regen.
And Im going to use a couple slots in Tornado to mule the pet uniques to toughen them up a bit...unless someone can convince me they dont help gremlins that much... -
Quote:How did you solo GM? Your zombies don't die fast? Do the -tohit debuffs stack that well?Like my necro/dark, who was soloing GMs well prior to Incarnate stuff. Gets one of the recharge intensive sets on the front set, a lot of -regen on the back, and a lot of -to hit throughout. Still, a melee-heavy MM isn't for everyone.
I was looking at some numbers, and I feel Necro actually has the lowest dps potential of all primaries.
Please enlighten me.
If you factor in Risk (melee) VS Reward (dps potential), Necro is at great disadvantage. Ninja dies just as easily but at least I feel they have much higher damage if the pets survive. -
Quote:You can still go with tier 3 75% proc on -resistance only right? The only reason I ever consider not going with Reactive is on my controllers with Sleep powers and I still haven't decided what to go with for them.
The thing with Sleep power is that if the target is slept, you are not going to attack him continuously anyway so any of the procs don't really matter that much. -
The idea of making Dimension Shift to a pbaoe Toggle that has a chance to Lift Up nearby enemies is VERY INTERESTING.
I'll definitely try it and it sure beats a power that I don't use 99% of the gaming time.
However, Gravity set favors range-only style because its group hold is target aoe and Singy encourages you to stand behind it for extra protection.
Maybe just change it to Ice Slick kind of power but it checks for Knock Up instead of Knock Down? They can increase the recharge from 90s to 120s and decrease the frequency. -
Quote:If they were to just change Dimension Shift into an AoE version of Lift...man it would be my favorite set.
Same here. I know Dimension Shift has a use but it is super situational. I think some people are finding "excuses" to pretend that this power is useful but it is not.
I want a power that I can use REGULARLY. The honest truth is I've only used it 3 times that I can remember on my perma Gravity/Fiery and each time I used it, I needed to explain to people what happened because the mobs can't be attack even though THEY ARE ATTACKING. It is confusing as well.
Here is how I see it:
1. Make Propel a WHOLE LOT better to the point that it is worth it to take it as a control power or as a heavy hitter or both. Right now, it is neither.
Or
2. Change Dimension Shift to something that can be used regularly and not confuse people.
If they can do one of the above, then I would consider Gravity pretty balanced for Dominator. It doesn't need to be the best but it shouldn't have two powers that are sooooo skippable and have questionable uses on Dominator. -
-
Storm doesn't have -regen. I wonder if the damage from Lightning Storm and Tornado can make up for it?
I understand it's hard to do the full damage with tornado as it knocks and chases the mobs but when you solo an AV (who isn't going to be knocked by tornado), do they add a lot of damage in the end? -
Looks like Beam Rifle has a snipe? Penetrating Ray? ugh.. I hope it's not a snipe. I hate snipe powers.
Hopefully Penetrating Ray is similar to Clockwork boss's Chest Beam. -
Quote:I tried Lam with a very good team last night. I didn't want to dismiss my pets but they just followed behind and died so I didn't even bother resummoning them until the lab/weapon route ends. For Lam, my MM's tend to dismiss pets and use Judgement, Rebirth to help heals, and their secondary powers to aid the others, that way pet aggro or pets falling behind is a non issue. Among my MM's are poison, FF, trap and storm so they can still assist well without the pets. Once the weapon/acid part is cleared, the bots come back out ready for Marauder.
Well, I don't even have the first level shift so even if I am attack, my soldiers won't be doing much damage. I basically just eat purples and try to keep people healed and only use Freezing Rain.
I am not blind though. I know my pets are not contributing much during the 2nd last and the last AV fight. With each super jump from AV, my pets lag behind and die/aggro. By the time they arrive, they are about to run again.
Just because I didn't die, it doesn't mean I did a lot. We had some very experienced players and 53s so it went very smooth.
So during Lam:
1. Elite Turret part is horrible. By the time the pets jump down and arrive, it's almost dead.
2. Weapon/Lab route is horrible. I can try to stay with teammates but my pets certainly aren't doing much damage.
3. The last AV fight is annoying. It depends how much we clear the ambushes/door. With less ambushes around, my pets may deal better damage. -
Quote:I haven't tried MM in Keyes. Actually, I've only tried Keyes with my 53 Soldier who has Aid Self and Rebirth. We had a MM on the team and he mostly only stayed at the ground level. That's where I was worried about. My experience is that Keyes is actually pretty MM friendly, although you probably want a Rebirth Destiny or significant healing in your secondary.
The main issue is keeping your pets from aggroing on Anti-Matter but that's easy to do if you have some basic control binds setup.
I am Ninja/FF but I do have Aid Self and I am going to pick Rebirth. I just won't try Keyes until I am 50+3. -
Quote:I just felt a Car should do more damage than a Chair. That's all. lolThis is correct. Back when I used propel I'd get comments from people who weren't familiar with the power, that would go like "omg you just threw a forklift at him, awesome!!!" when I saw, say, a chair... or my personal favorite, a lamp.
I don't like the idea though because giving a power that takes so long to cast a random effect seems like it would be frustrating.
The random effect will make this power "interesting". Right now, it is only graphically satisfying, although many objects only hit a dead body.... -
Quote:Brute has a lot of sets though... ? You mean Stalker? :PBlasters for sure.
Really, the ONLY thing that stops me from rolling only Dominators and Brutes these days is the limitations of Dominator and Brute Primaries. IF these ATs get more choices over the next few issues, there will be little reason to play anything else. -
Quote:What does this have anything to do with Dom not getting any set until after issue 21?Meanwhile, over the past 3 years all Dominator characters have been recipients of one of the biggest buffs any single AT in this game has ever received in terms of changes to inherent powers and the proliferation of what are probably the best APPs in the game. You do not have to reroll your character to receive these advantages. IMO Blasters, Tankers, and Defenders should look at Dominators with envy no matter how many new power sets they get.
Dominator was under-performing. Whether you agree with the buffs or not is totally unrelated to this topic. Some enjoyed the low/high feeling of this AT and some enjoy the overall damage/set improvements. I enjoy the overall improvements because I don't want to feel like if my dominator isn't "perma-dom", it isn't worth keeping. However, the "perma-dom" gives fans a reason to keep playing the same toon until it's perma. -
Quote:Oh, Defensive Procs.. I likey! Good ideas.Interface needs a complete reworking: Procs shouldn't be limited to damage. If they are, the number should be equalized with type being the primary difference. Even then, it'd be interesting to see two interfaces with an offensive proc, two with a defensive proc. For example: Reactive remains a damage proc, Paralytic now procs a 1 mag hold. Gravitic procs a Force Feedback type buff (self stacking, to a max, god knows it needs it) and Diamagnetic procs a minor self heal or end heal, potentially 1% of your HP (or a personal regen buff or the like). On top of this, all debuffs are unresistable and their duration (sans proc) are stabilized at 10 seconds.
A change like the above would create a legitimate and appreciable difference between each, with some nice selection for everyone. Most importantly, interface becomes actually important, like the other Incarnate slots, and would probably go a long way to helping encounter design thus far. I'm almost certain that Lambda was originally designed with Reactive/Interface being unresistable in general (thus the 100% damage res on the master runs) and they just completely forgot to flip the switch one way or the other.
I think another problem is that interface is "inherently" better on certain AT/Power Sets. Mastermind can proc it way faster than other ATs. As for the other 3 paths, all ATs are treated equally. Yes, some ATs have buffs/debuffs for Lore pets but in general, the way to trigger those powers are equal. Interface is not. Fast attacking set can proc fast and sets with pets can proc even faster.
Yes, Interface needs some re-work. -
Quote:Yup. I've tried two F2P and in both of them, I end up spending more than $14.95 per month. I paid cash to unlock certain things that may take a week. That's exactly the point of the F2P model. I have no doubt that they've got the points and costs calculated to the nth degree, and subscribers will get almost enough 'free' with their subscription to equate to what they got before F2P, but not quite, so as to encourage us to pay more money than we were before the change.
I have money but I don't have time. :P
I am sure I'll end up spending more money in the end with F2P. I think the catch is those that can't afford or unwilling to pay, will not pay anyway but those that are willing pay will pay MORE than what they did with the current setup.
The good thing I've seen so far is that CoX is a very old game. It already has a lot of content so even if you are at the basic free level, you still have access to a lot of things. They really did learn some of the mistakes other games have made. As a VIP, it looks like I will be getting "equal value" as the old subscription and then more. -
I don't know what it is but I rarely crash outside of iTrials. However, I crash pretty frequently in trials. Crashing right before I get the reward is the most annoying thing.
I don't think my computer is that out-dated but if the crash issues keep happening, it will only discourage me from forming a full/very large team.
Crashing is not enjoyable AT ALL. I lose exp and waste time in forming the team. Some times a Lam team may take 20 mins to form but if others crash during acid/grenade part, the whole Lam could be messed up in the end.
Yeah, when the league is smaller, you stand at a even greater risk that some people may not know what to do or some people crash and you have even less people. I joined a PUG itrial last night and we did 3 bafs and 1 lam. The Lam was almost flawless. I was using my 50 Merc/Storm who wasn't doing much in Lam except for following them and trying to heal. All my pets were meaningless after the first part. lol -
Quote:I am annoyed by the fact that they haven't announced anything and that by the time the new Dominator set comes out (which is after Issue 21), it might be next year. Assuming Freedom enters beta in Sept, Issue 21 probably won't be ready until late Oct or early Nov and I am sure there will be more "fixing patches" along the way.
The devs said upfront they had plans for Dominators but WERE UNABLE TO FIT THEM IN THIS ISSUE... that should show that they had plans.. wanted to do something but because of time constraints.. artwork issues.. balance issues and who knows what else they couldnt fit it in..
In the mean time, other ATs may have up to 4-5 new sets to play with. I just think it's unhealthy to release several new sets for all ATs but one. I would assume we'll see people creating new toons but how many are creating new Dominator? I can understand Mastermind not getting a new primarily because that should take longer than Dominator set.
I don't think the dev has an agenda against Dominator players, but I do think there is a priority issue, even though we all know there are more Blaster players than Dominator so naturally Dom's set is put off until later. I can't imagine one dominator proliferated set would take longer than creating 3 new sets (Time, Street, Beam).
Of course there will be new sets in the future. :P If they don't say that, then this game has no future, does it? So saying that there will be new plans for Dominator means really nothing. What they should be saying is "XXXXX" Set is taking longer but will come out in issue 22. And if they can't even say that, then there is no new set in the works in the time being. All the power team is devoted to all but one core AT.
Another thing I've noticed is that Dominator, like Tanker, seems to attract more hard-core players. Those players just prefer playing mostly Dom/Tanker. It could be just a marketing scheme to keep dominator fans wait longer and by the time Freedom Market comes out, they'll all rush to buy the new sets. Crazy conspiracy theory... I know. lol And the new Dominator set better not cost a dime because dom is supposed to get at least one proliferated set. -
Oh interesting. It says "account bound". I wonder if this is going to be a "cash item" or it's part of Incarnate rewards?
-
Sounds a bit like Assassin from D2. Some say it's like Rogue in WoW but I don't know much about that game.

Quote:I think the fact that they are willing to change for Blaster means they know the set isn't fitting. Yeah, this is probably not cottage rule but if they changed something from an original set, they could re-name it. In fact, 3 powers are different in Blaster's Dark Blast. That's how much they are willing to change what's in the original set.Cottage Rule only applies in terms of affecting existing characters. There are no existing Dark Blasters so when Proliferating the set there's no Cottage Rule violation if you change the powers around a bit. Je Saist gave a good rule of thumb elsewhere, if the change means characters slottings become invalid or ineffective then it's probably violating the cottage rule.
Propel makes sense in Controller design but not in Dominator. The attack is so slow and the damage isn't impressive for the time spent. I wish they could have taken it out or made it better.
I once suggest that they classify all the "Objects" in two types. Smaller objects like Chair do normal damage but large objects like a Car do more damage. The more damage part can be a "proc". However, some people told me that what I see on my screen (the object) is different from what other see on the screen?
(They've also changed Energy Aura like 2 times and this time they actually changed the powers and not just add some effects. Cottage Rule is meant to be broken if certain things just don't work right and I give credits to the current power team that is not so stubborn. Blaster could easily get the original Dark Blast and explain it as "control heavy at the sacrifice of burst and single damage, so if your Blaster doesn't have good burst damage with Dark Blast, suck it!)

For some reasons, I keep thinking about Street Fighter when I read the messages. lol
As long as the "good" combos are not tied to Assassin Strike, then it shall be good.
I just don't want them to force us to choose like how they did in Dual Blade. You either start with Sweeping or Empowered but not in sequence.
Looking at the power names, they don't look that interesting. Maybe the combos are interesting. It seems like pretty typical martial punches / super strength punches.
And what is Street Justice any way? Fight like a Thug? If so, I would expect a Knife attack (butterfly knife or some sort) or Brass Knuckles. Somebody mentioned Headbutt which sounds fitting to the theme. -
Quote:Seriously, I find it funny that people don't see the unfairness in this. Dominator fans want something new too. Why should they wait so much longer than other ATs? Dom fans may just want an announcement of something so they can get excited about. Who knows when those new sets are ready but at least they can get excited about. There are other AT's besides Dominators to play.. and there is nothing stopping me from playing the Dominators I already enjoy...
It just find it really funny that people sit here and act like the developers plot and scheme to purposefully leave out Dominators and then act like it something they are doing purposefully to THEM..
Seriously some of us need to get over ourselves.
At this point, I do think they leave out Dominator on purpose and for a good reason. When Freedom goes live, they need to test the market and they need something to keep the company going. Street Justice and Beam Rifle can satisfy 7 ATs, while a new Dominator control or assault can only satisfy 1 AT. Do the math.
I am not so much of a Dominator fan now but I do feel each AT should get something, even if it's a recycled set like Illusion or Dark Assault. The reason Dom isn't getting anything is because animations take too long. Well, they certainly have time to create 3 new sets Time, Street and Beam. It's all about priorities.
The AT I hate the most is Tanker but if Tanker isn't getting anything until issue 22, then I will voice my opinion too.
I don't think the dev is scheming but I do feel priorities are a bit off here. And of course, maybe they are not done with all the announcements. I just want to know what it is that is taking so long. It's gotta be Whip Assault. If that's the case, isn't it better to just come up a Dark Assault with existing powers (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that Illusion isn't ready for whatever reason/conflicts) in this round of 3rd Proliferation and then make Whip Assault/Control a "cash set" like Street Justice?
Here is the thing. I will be mad if Dominator's new sets require cash points by the time it's ready because Dom should have got something already.
And I just don't know what's so "exciting" about the new plans for Dom. It's gotta be either Whip or Dark-related set, which many of us already predicted, requested, fantasized about. The only way I would find it "exciting" is Dominator is getting two sets of Controls/Assaults. Now THAT'S exciting. :P
They kept saying "no discussion on Dominator" in last facebook chat. They won't even mention anything. What's a better way to surprise the fans than announcing Dominator's set in comic con? Unless, of course, there is no solid plan yet... -
By the way, where is Shoryuken and Sonic Boom? :P
And body slam? Are we finally going to be able to Grab and Throw? :P -
Quote:Yeah. It seems like even Kinetic Melee can be part of Energy Melee.
I know I chose it as my second choice becuase Psi Melee was my first, and I always thought Street Fighting could be done just by giving Martial Arts some alternate animations.
At least it looks like Street Justice will have new mechanics to play with, so it might not be to bad that they just didnt give MA new animations.
I think I would prefer a more refreshing set like Psionic Melee but a new set is always fun to have.
