Quote:(Ugh!!! I typed a pretty long reply but the forum asked me to sign in again..oh I hate that!!!)
The class is a solid formula. While, No they don't do the highest damage, or have the most AoE, they do provide for an effective team mate if used properly, like all classes.
Yes, I don't want my Stalker to be another Scrapper but I truly believe Stalker should to do the best ST damage of all melee ATs. When it comes to eliminating a "hard" target (not some minions or lieuts) like an AV, Stalker needs to do more.
I actually don't have any problem with my Stalker's survival because I simply don't attract that much aggro. I can understand the frustration in Regen as it hits the HP Cap too soon (should have more +regen or +resistance to offset the loss of HP cap benefits).
To simply put, if they do these two things: 1. improve Assassin Strike by making it activate faster, less interrupt and less endurance cost. 2. Get rid of 30' radius on Team Critical Buff, then I think Stalker AT is probably as good as it gets. We'll never get those AoE attacks back anyway and I think the core problem is with some of the sets themselves: IE Marital Arts and Energy Melee having zero aoe. -

Quote:Oh? mmmmm, 30% on Defender.... ok, that's not very high then but the +recharge is pretty strong and yet +recharge doesn't affect pets. That's not damage resistance, that's damage buffing (internally dmaage buffs are implemented as buffs to specific damage types it's just most powers buff them all the same amount).
-
Wow, Temporal Selection looks very good. It even offers psionic resistance. Defender's level starts out at least 30%? Wow.
-
Those Defender numbers look quite good to me. It's got TWO pretty good -regen and that alone is going to be popular.
The whole set has a lot of +recharge which won't affect Pets.
I think Time set looks good for Defender/Corr/Controller but not so much for MM. The debuff and buff on damage/resistance don't seem to be high enough. The healing over time is meaningless on primaries like Ninja who literally die in seconds when getting hit.
And that is Defender level. Time looks like it can be useful for every situation. -
Quote:I can tell you that my Ninja/ff has soloed Black Scorpian AV and Pylon. I would never have thought Ninja/FF could do it 'cause Ninjas usually die in one hit and I won't have enough endurance to keep resummoning, upgrading and re-bubbling each one.Hi all,
I've recently started a Ninja/FF MM and have a few questions.
I've dabbled with a few MM builds in the past so know a little about them and based on that experience I was expecting some form or self buffing/healing from the 2nd tier ninjas but there appears to be none.
Is the set all about damage and if so how much more damage does it do compared to other sets?
Is the set sub par compared to others?
I'll carry on playing the set because I do enjoy it, guess I just want to know how it compares, pros and cons etc.
The new change makes Ninja/FF a lot more powerful. I don't play Robot and Thug much so maybe I just don't know what a super powerful MM is. I do know that Ninja/FF is powerful enough and if anything that is powerful than this, it's pretty much "over-powering". :P
One tip, you definitely want Mace mastery and Power Boost. It makes a world of difference on Genin's survival. The reason Force Field works well on Ninja is that the defense stacks and shield defense "stays" on them. I've tried Ninja/Trap and it is really hard to keep Ninjas within FFG 'cause they simply run too fast and usually that split second means live/death for Genin. Ninjas run and chase because they have two caltrops and one rain of fire. Hello?? Fear much?! LOL It's like they are designed to scatter the mobs and chase them.
Ninja/Dark has much better healing now but your Genin could die within 3s before the healing even kicks in.
Besides Ninja/FF, I may try Ninja/Dark and Ninja/Storm. -
Quote:Well, if I want to choose between "boring" or "frustrating", I think I'll choose boring. I've tried Ninja with other secondaries and it's quite frustrating as the Ninjas die so easily.
Forcefield is, if nothing else, boring. Not a bad set, just boring.
With Ninja/FF, I don't need to babysit them as much. I cast force field twice (what a buff!!!!!!) and only use aid other when needed. The rest of time I am just throwing smoke flash and veteran staff attack and replusion bomb. It's not as "boring" as it used to be because I used to bubble 6x2. -
Quote:I read Positron's interview the other day and I don't think we'll see Time Control set because Time Manipulation started out as Time Control set idea. Later they've decided to turn it into buff/debuff/control set.Would much rather have a dedicated Time Control set. Aside from the slows and the hold, Time Manipulation is pretty debuff-centric so it wouldn't be a case of Dark Miasma. Could also use the Delayed status to beef up the controls and create amazing synergy between the two sets.
If there was a Time Control, don't you think it makes sense to create Time Control with Time Manipulation so Dominator can have something new when everyone has like 2-3 new sets? At this rate, Dominator won't have anything new until probably next year.... T_T -
One thing I know for sure is I will not pair Dark/Dark. Dark Blast only has cones and /Dark requires you to run in for soul drain. It's just a lot of running back and forth.
-
How about just make Placate a 200% critical chance? I mean we already have that but just very slim chance?
-
Quote:I just wish they could reduce the first attack's activation time from 1.5s to 1s. For a very fast recharging attack, it sure has pretty long activation time.
Yep, my current recommendation for Nova enthusiasts is to proc that sucker out, now more than ever.
The biggest advantage Nova has over human form now isn't damage - it's proc potential.
One of the reasons why I respec out Human is that I can't use Solar Flare in air and I planned my PB Human as aerial combat just like the enemy. I'll need to test it out on beta to see how aerial solar flare works. -
I've been doing monthly renewal on my credit card. Could this be why beta log in thinks I don't have access to it?
I can log in but when I choose a server, it says my account doesn't have access to it. -
Oh, I tried to log in again and one of the servers has "green dot". I clicked it and it says my account does not have access.
Do you need to be invited or? I've been a subscriber for the past year. -
I am not too sure if I've done it right.
I downloaded and set up Beta. The log in screen looks different. I CAN log in but all of the beta servers are "gray out". I can't select any. There are tons of servers but none of them let me click.
Is it because all the servers are down right now or my account is not allowed to go into those servers?
I think there was a warning message that my account needs to be flagged as beta account and told me to "Manage" my account. How do I do that? -
Quote:Sometimes you just need to fight and forget about hide.Without a doubt Stalker can kill a single target mob easily, but I have trouble facing a large group of enemies, especially during farming/tips. Large group as in a group of 5+ or random ambushes in addition to what's standing there.
My Stalker is Dark Melee but I'm talking about Stalker in general. Inability to hide after killing one enemy or during ambush is a pain
You are dark melee so your aoe potential is limited. If you are patient, you can lure them to a corner or let them come to you so your Shadow Maul can hit 2-3 targets.
I find it best to kill minions first then lieut. Dark Melee has touch of fear. You can BU + AS a lieut to death and then quickly kill a minion with Grasp. Save placate when next Grasp is recharged on the last minion if you find yourself getting interrupted all the time. Midnight Grasp hits hard enough that you really don't need to wait for Placate + Assassin Strike.
Oh and take a patron aoe attack. A lot of people are using Fireball because it has 100 critical but this means you need to wait until lvl 47.I mostly take Ball of Lightning.
Other stalkers have more ways.
On my MA/Will, I usually only do +3 or +4 x 1. MA is much better against a small but harder group than a large group. -
Quote:Oh please give me a break on "theme" reasons. How come when it comes to Stalkers, the dev care so much for "theme" all of sudden?!!!The way I remember it, I believe it was Castle who said the removal of the +recovery powers was intentional based on theme. I guess it didn't seem appropriate to him and/or other devs for a sneaky assassin to be well conditioned.
I actually don't even remember that willpower in Brute/Scrapper have +recovery. lol That's how little I play them.
You know what's really not meeting the "Theme" Standard? Stalker SUCKS as an Assassin. Yup, that's the truth. I said it. Assassin Strike has interruption, it's slow and its damage isn't scaling high enough against AV/Giants.
I don't think my /Wp Stalker needs +recovery but I find the removal not justified either if the real reason behind it is "theme" reason. -
Quote:This will be a great way to start. I never understand why only 30' radius. They try to "encourage" Stalkers to fight along side with teammates rather than "hit and run"? 30' radius is really not that big in most pve content.
And the easiest and most server-calculation-friendly way of extending the team critical bonus radius is to eliminate the radius entirely and base it on team size alone. You have to have that count to determine what to check distances on, it's probably a simple variable lookup instead of actually counting (no guarantee here, though - it's not like I've seen the code), and it's not like it wasn't done for Dominators to accelerate Domination bar filling, so there's a precedent. -
Quote:Yeah, my first feeling (before any testing) is that Human form with Light Form is going to be a lot more superior than Nova. Dwarf form is still going to tank better but White Dwarf's damage potential is way lower than Black Dwarf. If my numbers are right - and the ones above do reflect the new inner light - you'll never need to leave human form.
That's my problem with the changes.
Human form still allows you to cast Photon, Glowing Touch and even run leadership toggles to benefit the whole team.
Nova form should excel in both ST and AoE damage because you lose all the versaltilities. The only thing you have is those 4 attacks! -
Quote:Anyone who's been looking at the open beta forums today knows I'm not a fan of these changes, but here at least is how they pan out on the ol' handy-dandy spreadsheets:
There were some problems with the math on my former spreadsheets, which have now been corrected on these:
Peacebringer Analysis
Warshade Analysis
The formulae for my calculations are located at the top of each page where relevant, and you can copy/paste the build in the note of the yellow box at the top marked... "BUILD" for a peek at the SO builds I used.
Here's the rundown:
Peacebringers
Single Target DPS Potential:
Human: 117
Dwarf: 82
Nova: 88
AoE DPS Potential:
Human: 170
Dwarf: 137
Nova: 173
Is this with Inner Light (72% for 10s and then 28% for 20s) or with regular Build Up?
I didn't read the whole thread but are you not happy with Light Form's change or the change is not enough? Or both? :P
The new changes just make me want to play Human form more, although I can see the benefit of using Inner Light and change to Nova/Dwarf. This just means I need to change out to human while getting hit/mezzed and try to use Inner Light and then go back to Dwarf/Nova again. ugh..such hassel. -
Looking at the changes, I would say they want to make PB more "sturdy" with minor mez protection during Light Form while WS has much better damage/survival potential.
What I still need to find out is if Light Form has "crash" like Strength of Will? You lose like 50 end?
Inner Light is definitely a total buff. There is no penalty that comes with the buff.
Not really sure how Quantum Acceleration does but it seems to add more defense to PB.
A few bummers:
1. I still wish they could have buffed White Dwarf itself with more damage. Yes, Inner Light can be carried over to White Dwarf/Nova but that just means I have to suffer from shifting delays which I find highly annoying for some reasons.
2. Photon Seeker's 180s is still quite long considering you can't control which target(s) they hit except for running in and casting in the middle. If you cast it before the fight, they'll most likely hit the first few targets they see. Due to this uncertainty, I believe P. Seekers need to recharge even faster.
Overall, the new changes encourage me to stay in Human form. My Aerial Peacebringer can use solar flare in air. Not sure how the knock backs work though. -
To be honest, I would even vote for no knock backs at all for Solar Flare. I just want the damage and don't want to position myself every time I use this attack. PB already has enough knock backs.
-
Mag 3 protection in Light Form is decent. It still takes a lot of recharge to make 300s/90 perma isn't it? In fact, my dominator is barely perma with 200s/90s?
The buffs are good for sure. I just don't know if it's good enough. My problem with Photon Seekers (besides recharge) is how I can't cast them out of sight. I can only cast them around me. It's hard to get the most damage out of them unless I stand beside the target. If you want me to stand beside the target to get the most damage, you might as well just give me a mini pbaoe nuke like Fortunata's. :P I still think 180s is a bit too long. Do the seekers have to explode that fast? Can't they stay alive for like 10s to shoot beams and then explode? I don't want a copy of Fort's nuke. I want more diversity.
Being able to use Solar Flare in air is very good because now if I want to build an Aerial Combat Peacebringer (which fits their design really), I can use Solar Flare and my my white lobster can use foot stomp in air with fast jumping. Awesome.
The new Build Up is interesting. 10s 72% and then 28% for 20s. -

Mmmm, there's a lot of discussions on the new changes in Regeneration under Scrapper forum. They even list out the exact numbers.
I can understand not revealing things about new sets like Time, Street and Beam but Kheldian isn't "new".
We really can't post the Kheldian changes here? I mean seriously, how many of you can't see the patch notes in VIP forum?
I want to hear your reactions on Peacebringer. :P -
Quote:I kinda figured. I was wondering why there isn't more talkings about all the new changes. If they're current subscribers, they can get into the VIP Beta forums. People not subscribed currently can see this forum, so posting the changes here would violate the NDA, as I understand it. I'd probably even edit your first post (it's why I kept saying... stuff earlier).
What we have here is enough of a hint for anyone not a current subscriber anyway.
