  1. So my human-only WS finally hit 45. It's about time to buy him some sets.

I was planning builds in Mids. Originally I wanted to go full force on +recharge so I can summon pet quicker and use Eclipse quicker.

But during double exp event, I realized that I need "defense" and "mez protection" the most. Having capped resistance is nice but it truly sucks when I get stunned/held. I am already carrying a lot of break frees.

What's your opinions on this? I figure by having higher defense from sets, it also reduces the chance of me getting mezzed.

Should I focus full force on +recharge or +defense from set bonuses? Do you take Weave? I don't need Tough but I can find some use in Weave.

And also, is Eclipse auto-hit? I know this is a silly question because at first I thought it isn't but now I think it is?

I made another post in beta forum after I posted that.

Yes, it is true that Finisher doesn't include Combo's extra damage but the raw damage alone is very high.

I did a comparison between Stalker's Eagle Claw and Crushing Uppercut. Crushing Uppercut at combo 0 does the most critical damage than any other ST attack. I can see why they are not including extra combo damage in critical because that will simply be too high.

Of course there are down sides. Crushing Uppercut recharge 25s but hast much longer reach at 13.5 and it activates faster than Concentrated Strike/Total Focus.

Total Focus in its current form is the worst tier 9 ST attack for Stalker. It criticals way less and activates the longest.

Edited: Do those extra combo damage benefit from Fury? If so, SJ's base damage is really high.

You can choose any equivalent Brute/Scrapper powerset combo and the Brute will always out aggro the Scrapper, thus taking more incoming attacks and more damage and reducing the danger to the Scrapper.

If Brutes needed a reduction to be in line due to their much vaunted "higher survivability", then Stalkers either need to outdamage Scrappers or something needs to be done about Scrappers.

Otherwise Stalkers will always be the least valuable of all of the available melee ATs.

FWIW, I think Stalkers should outdamage Scrappers in ST capabilties - by at least 15 to 20%.
The way I see it is this, if Stalker is not getting aggro on the team, then somebody else is getting aggro. If you are not getting aggro FOR THE TEAM, then you BETTER KILL FASTER.

And sadly, Stalker doesn't kill faster than Brute/Scrapper/Blaster/SoA/Dominator and some odd combos from Corr/Controller.

The only difference in defensive performance with Scrappers is that Scrappers have more HP. That doesn't justify significantly higher damage IMO.
I think for the sets that have no AoE or limited AoE need to do more ST damage than Scrapper. Take Claw for example, Stalker's version Eviscerate has already been changed to ST attack for "more damage" but even the ST version does less damage than Scrapper's Eviscerate, which is a cone. This is just sad. They took out Spin too. And the only thing that was added is Build Up. Claw Build Up does have less recharge but it's from Claw's inherent effect (less recharge, less endurance cost). I don't think Stalker Claw set is modified to compensate the fact that Scrapper Claw can stack Follow Up.

I never want a defensive improvement on Stalker. I just want Stalker to do more damage especially during soloing. It is sad that the supposed ST-specialist actually has the worst performance when it comes to soloing pylon and AVs. Stalker's survival VS damage ratio is just too imbalanced.

I have to kill the bigger guys first! :P I was on a team doing respec mission and there were groups of just those Stone monsters. I ran out of endurance so quick. No body, no love!

Oh and did I say I hate fighting Devourers? Those stone monsters don't drop any dead bodies! So annoying.

That is a good thing. /EA should remain stealthy. The set was designed that way anyway.

I didn't pick /EA Brute as my one and only main Brute because it is "defense-based and has a big hole in Psionic resistance/Defense". I picked it because it has an unsuppressed stealth that Stalker doesn't have. If they put aura taunt in /EA, they might as well re-design the whole thing again. My Brute took taunt power and I use it all the time when I want to.

That shouldn't be a "sad face". It should be a happy face.

While I can't tell if Ice Armor is going to blow EA out of water, I do agree that /EA on Stalker isn't that special.

Energy Aura on Brute/Scrapper is more special because it was designed as a "stealthy" set and Stalker is already stealthy.

    Bummer. Oh well...

Wish they could have ported Ice Melee at the same time. ugh. Now I don't know what to combo with except for SJ/Ice.

You know, if they gave Stalker Rib Cracker, its 11% damage debuff can stack with 15% from CE.

Kin/Ice definitely have good synergies. One thing I don't know for sure is if chilling embrace gets you out of hidden after you reveal yourself because majority of the fun in Kinetic is to keep Build Up going with placate. I have a Kin/Dark and after they made it 100% refresh-rate, I rarely run the two auras because I don't want the damage-self and fear interrupt right after my placate.

If you are looking for a good stalker experience, I think Kinetic is a great choice.

Neither of them is tier 9 so I don't think so. Mace's raw damage seems to be a lot higher than Broadsword? Maybe it doesn't need that special treatment.

I have to say...I am a tiny bit surprised that they didn't modify Clobber. :P I hope they don't because if they ever port it to Stalker, I want the same Clobber!

Sad, that Energy Armor will be at the bottom with ELA for stalkers, oh well.
The bottom, IMO, will always be Regeneration for Stalker. There is simply not enough health cap to regen and defense works better for Stalker.

The current Energy Aura isn't that bad. It just has big "holes" in psionic defense/resistance. I have not tested the new changes yet as I don't plan on using EA again. Not that I think it's terrible. It is ok.

I will use Ice Armor simply because it's new.

Electricity Armor, while seems to have low survival on its own, should be very decent if you add +defense set bonuses. I think the set ends up being quite good. It's just not that good on Stalker since Stalker has lower HP.
  17. I sometimes have trouble even with a +3 Boss if I have no pets or no corpses around me.... lol

Radiation's ST damage is very very low. It's not my cup of tea but maybe you'll like it. Cosmic Burst is the only thing saving the set IMO. The AoEs are nice.

You can, however, put a lot of procs in them.
  19. Clobber's DPA is insanely high on Scrapper.

I want it on Stalker so bad.
  20. Ice Control does lack hard control later on. Not the greatest Dominator set because Ice Slick doesn't benefit from domination and the aoe control is pbaoe rather than range aoe.

I have say Gravity is better than Ice Control in the end. A well placed Wormhole is very satisfying. The problem is wormhole is not well liked on a large team especially with Brute/tanker/scrapper running in.

Gravity is really not bad. My very first perma dom is Gravity/Fiery and my friend saw it and made one himself. He said Gravity/Fiery is his most favorite dominator. We love wormhole mobs to corner and just unleash our aoe on them. If we see mobs standing above us, we wormhole down! We see them on the other side of the wall? We wormhole to our side! It can be very fun. You can't wormhole all of them at once due to 15' radius but you can reduce a lot of aggro that way.

I just hate Propel and Dimension Shift.

(Frankly with Abyssal Gaze in Blaster Dark Blast I think the set plays well enough without a tier3, but it'd be nice for Defenders and Corruptors.)
I plan on making a new Dark Blaster too. I didn't know Abyssal Gaze does that much damage and the activation time is much faster than that 20s recharge Ice Blast hold (forgot the name, Bitter Ice Freezing?).

Blaster has Aim and another hold/attack so I can see why they didn't make it 10s recharge. The only thing I don't like that much so far is aoe knockback. It is way too strong IMO. lol Dark/Mental is going to be nice.

PS: I do agree that maybe for Corr/Defender, 10s Life Drain is more appropriate since they don't have Abyssal Gaze and Aim.
  22. I know this is a late question but why wasn't Axe/Mace ported to Stalker? If it works for Scrapper, it must work for Stalker right? Scrapper/Brute get 3 ported sets while Stalker only gets one in Ice Armor.

Now, am I sniffing some kind of Stalker change in the future? Am I crazy to think that the reason Mace/Axe didn't get ported to Stalker (it should be easy enough as they can just take out pbaoe like they've done to Ninja/Broadsword) is because they may add pbaoe back to the sets?

Other than that, I can't imagine why Mace/Axe weren't ported. It just hits me tonight when I was looking at Scrapper's War Mace (that Clobber looks so delicious).

Or it has more to do with Assassin Strike's animation? They can't or don't have time to figure out what the animation should be for Mace/Axe? Well, if they think of one, it works for both. :P

I want a War Mace Stalker so bad. The AS animation for Mace should be "baseball-like". You wait for 3s and then hit a Home Run!

    Drain Life

I transferred one of my very old toons Dark/Cold Corr to beta tonight.

My old corr slot a lot of +healing and +recharge and no +damage 'cause Life Drain's old damage just isn't worth it.

Oh my. This new change is so good. I added two +damage and with only 8s base recharge, I can use it so often. I put about 60% +healing and my lvl 50 Corr can leech 170 health every time I use it and I only have 1125 health. My old toon doesn't have good set bonuses at all. With enough recharge, you can literally heal yourself once every 6s for more than 10% of your health. This is very Vampire-like!

I checked Blaster's number and it's base healing is 120 since Blaster has higher health. So overall, this change makes it an effective healing IMO.

Oh!!!! I haven't tested spring attack. My MA can definitely use an aoe.

    Drain Life

Oh, I think you'll lose a lot if you don't re-work your build for it.

Life Drain does tier 2 damage and with only 8s recharge. With decent recharge, you can use it very often. I am finally going to make a decent Vampire build.

The old Life Drain sucks at damage and sucks at draining life due to long recharge and somewhat high endurance cost.

This new version gives Dark Blast another decent attack. It doesn't have the highest DPA but it's longer range than a normal tier 3 attack. It also debuffs tohit too.

If you used to throw TT or NF as ST attack, you will have a better choice in Life Drain.
