Quote:Oh I see. It's a Target AoE with only 6 radius. That's why it's hard to hit something "behind" him.Spinning Strike is not a cone, it is a targeted AoE with a melee-ranged... well, range. The radius is small (not in game to give you the numbers right now), but it radiates around your target, which is why your friend isn't hitting targets behind him.
If you're completely surrounded by foes, you may want to target something right next to you to hit things all around you. If you've got enemies bunched up in front of you, you may want to target something farther back--this extends the "reach" of your power, and makes the range longer than most melee cones.
I like the way that it works. I find it's easier than lining up a cone. The only downside from my perspective is that there are far fewer targeted AoE invention sets than PBAoE invention sets.
Weird..this could be the first melee target aoe that I can think of. All the other aoe/cone are pbaoe.
Interesting. Thanks for the replies. -
One question about SJ.
My friend said the Spin attack is an aoe attack with only 6 radius. I haven't tried it but he swears it does not hit any target "behind" him. Is this true?
Is it supposed to be a "cone" attack? -
Best Damage? /Fiery
Best Control for soloing? Mind or Electricity -
Quote:The poison hold has 2s activation time. Envenom is kinda fast with 1.33s but Weaken is freaking 2.07s.The poison hold, and envenom are fast... my big beef is with the poison late game powers. They stink really bad.
By the time you try to debuff small number of targets one by one, the other sets already debuff most of them.
/Poison is far from being a "fast activating" set.
Some people don't like Weapon/Poison because /Poison is a very active set and each time you use secondary, it causes redraw. -
Quote:It's no more powerful than Brute's Fury increasing Burn's damage. Burn cannot critical on Scrapper (and Stalker) at least and the moment you use Burn, you are going to aggro (even though you may not reveal yourself so the most you can do is to hit Burn and then quickly follow up a regular attack). You don't think /FA would be overpowered on a stalker? Buildup + fiery embrace + burn from hidden would be like an area effect assassin's strike!
Whatever you think that is going to be considered "overpowered" on Stalker is going to be even more overpowered on Scrapper/Brute.
So to answer your question, no, /Fiery Aura will not be overpowered on Stalker. The only thing it may affect is pvp when you hit Build Up + FA + Assassin Strike but Stalker isn't even the biggest threat in pvp. Stalker is only the biggest threat to newbies.
I find it funny that the dev are EXTRA careful when they balance and restrict Stalker performance and yet you have broken set combinations in other ATs that just don't make sense (like soloing pylons with ease. As far as I know, Stalker is one of the worst when it comes to soloing AVs/Pylon. I am not saying it's impossible. I am just saying Stalker is one of the worst).
Stalker can be overpowered? No freaking way. Not with that pathetic low HP cap. -
I believe "Quality" is better than "Quantity"!
Mastermind has 6 primary pets but the tier 1 pets can die so easily.
Quality pets are the ones that survive better and require less babysitting. Illusion has great pets because Army don't die (except for one situation in trial?).
If you are looking for quality pets, I would suggest Gravity's Singularity (use it to protect yourself by blocking the path), Earth Control's stone pet and Warshade's pets. Warshade's pet surprisingly do very good damage. They are temporary pets but with good recharge, you can easily get two out at once as long as there's dead body for you to summon.
If you just want "Quantity", I guess Fire/Storm Controller can get many pets out at once. With Storm, you have Lightning Storm and annoying Tornado. :P -
I'll tell you one thing... Regeneration sucks on Stalker! Yup, there I said it.
Why? Stalker has low HP Cap (you don't even need Regen to get to the HP Cap, Accolades will do) and Stalker's HP is low so the +regen effect is not as potent as being on Brute. Oh and Stalker Regen doesn't have Quick Recovery. :P
Regeneration is one of those sets that gets ported to Stalker but never really get "adjusted" to Stalker's needs.
If I recall, Stalker Regen doesn't have better +resistance. It's just overall a bad design for a squishy AT. -
Quote:I think the key difference here is Claw. My twin brother had a lvl 50 Claw/Willpower (when willpower first came out) Stalker and at that time, I thought it was Willpower that was keeping the Stalker alive so well but then later I made a MA/Will, and I realized that it is Claw that was keeping me alive more!
Specifically, my experiences with +0x4 spawns of Knives of Artemis and Awakened PPD. My Claws/SR Stalker had little issue with these, but my then MA/NIN Stalker was getting PWND.
Yes, the combination of 100% knockdown from Focus and knockback from Shockwave can really improve your survival.
Knives' caltrops do auto damage so you still take a lot of damage with defense set. With +0x4 setting, I think it favors Claw more than SJ. With SJ, you are better at +3x1. SJ's aoe damage is very small (unless you have patron) so it will take you longer to kill x4.
I am like you though, I never find Ninjitsu THAT great. I have several of them but at the end of day, I prefer Willpower over Ninjitsu. -
I am liking Beam Rifle on Blaster a lot. During beta, I read that Disintegrated doesn't happen often enough and I think they later increased the chance?
Beam Rifle on Blaster does a lot of damage! Maybe I haven't played Blaster for a long time but when disintegrated happens, it really melts down bosses. The stun in Lance Shot really helps soloing. I didn't know it has stun component.
Beam Rifle has weapon redraw and that's one of the reasons why I chose Blaster instead of Corr/Defender because I don't want to use secondary powers to cause redraws. I took /Fire secondary but I doubt I'll be using much of it.
One quick question, what determines Disintegrated Spread? -
It's sad that Stalker can't have Fiery melee due to DoT breaking hide? Stalker, the supposed king of damage specialist, is not mentioned in any of the "high end" performance.
10/10 Damage Ratio in character creation is misleading!Scrapper is the true 10/10. Stalker is at best with full team critical 8/10.
Can Stalker get Fiery Aura in the future? -
If we are including Freezing Rain from patron set, then we should also allow Scrapper to use patron pets. If I remember correctly, Scrapper gets 3 Spiderlings from Mace Mastery. Those 3 spiderlings do pretty impressive damage especially I think you can put AH prcs in them (but not in Crab's Spiderlings).
If we add Scrapper's high damage with 3 patron spiderlings, it should surpass Dom with imps and patron pets?
I know the 3 patron spiderlings do good damage becase my stalker used to have them (although it's hard to keep them alive since I am hidden all the time and they take aggro). -
Quote:But what about Freezing Rain and if you get lucky, you can debuff 20% more with AH proc. I think Freezing Rain's 30% resist debuff should push Dominator over the edge?Given the Ops rules of being pegged to the damage cap, it looks difficult. On the Scrapper side you have a 1.125 damage modifier, 500% damage cap, at least a 5% critical rate, and an FE that is up more than half the time. This all translates, in extremely rough terms, into the equivalent of having something like an effective 1.73 damage modifier relative to something with a 400% damage cap. In other words, the dominator would have to come up with a way to climb out of a 70% hole to pass Scrapper damage. I would need to do some calculations to estimate the fire imp damage contribution, but it seems to be a tough thing to do.
PS: Any Stalker combo can compete at such high level? lol I doubt it... -
My favorite secondary with Merc is /Storm.
/Storm gives them exotic resistance type and /storm offers more damage through tornado and lightning storm and freezing rain is awesome. Hurrican will help you push the foes away so your fragile soldiers die slower...
Tornado is the best place to put four pet unique.
I can't solo an AV with Merc/Storm but it's one combo that I can stand. I like the versatility of Merc/Storm.
PS: The worst secondary for Merc is Poison. I have a lvl 50 Merc/Posion who I haven't played in years. It's my first lvl 50 villain and I hate him. -
I suggest Poison Blast (with a mix of Zombie-type of theme).
You get the typical range "spits and pukes" and a short range melee puke/bite. Not sure what the tier 9 power would be like but my idea is to add Melee Position Defense (and some AoE defense) as secondary effect because Poison Blast will require more melee-range gameplay.
So whenever some of your Poison Blast hits, you get a small bonus to Melee defense/AoE defense for a short duration. Think of it as Broadsword's Parry but a range version.
I want Poison Blast set to be similar to Dominator Earth Assault. Melee oriented. This will make /Poison more appealing as its Venomous Gas is pbaoe and the splash effects work better when mobs surround you. -
I somehow think Fire/Fire/Cold Dominator is one of the top for ST damage if you add fire imps' damage and Freezing Rain's debuff.
I think it's higher than Fire/Fire Scrapper... maybe. -
Quote:You know what, I was going to suggest Ninja/TA MM. Since the OP says survival is not an issue (which is a HUGE issue for Ninja/TA), I believe Ninja/TA can put out some mean numbers on single target with both Jounins at melee range.True, and lots of real world effects complicate matters. For example, some attack chains rely on stacking resistance debuffs, but that takes time to ramp up.
As an aside, one thing that came up while I was thinking about this question was Oil Slick Arrow. Its cast time is actually quite low compared to its total damage potential. In damage scale terms I believe it approaches 4.0 DS/sec if you do not specifically factor in extra time to ignite it (i.e. if its used in an environment where it can be ignited automatically or as a side effect of some other power). I just couldn't think of a way to leverage that high DPA given its long recharge: even at the recharge cap its still recharging in 36 seconds, which means it cannot be chained to autoignite (15 second burn time). And its net benefit gets diluted because it can only be used occasionally.
And then you brought up Oil Slick Arrow which Oni can ignite with Rain of Fire.
With Ninja, you go with Musculature tier 4 (45% damage), two AH procs from Jounins and resist debuffs from Trick Arrow. Unfortunately, Trick Arrow debuff value is quite low on Mastermind. -
Quote:The best reason to go with /poison is if you want to pvp. Other than that, /poison is still quite weak. It still lacks protection for 6 of your pets.
Edited to add: my snap judgments would be for dark or time with undead, and I'm less sure about ninja - maybe poison or trick arrow. (I'd do traps but I already have robot/traps going at the moment and am trying to avoid any duplication until I cover each of the primaries that interests me at least once.) But I'm really, really open to alternatives.
Trick Arrow can be good on Robot and Thug, but I would much rather pick /Dark to replace Trick Arrow. -
For Stalker, the two worst unarmed are Energy Melee and Martial Arts because both sets have ZERO aoe. Between EM and MA, I say MA is better.
Dark Melee can compete with them for ST damage especially having good utilities and DM at least has Shadow Maul.
PS: Oh, Kinetic Melee is VERY GOOD on Stalker and Scrapper. -
I know!!! I tried to invite new players to my team to show them good time but I can't send them PMs (or rather they can't reply but they can read my messages?)
I used the Search function to find players around my level. I can't tell if they can "reply" or not.
Are "free" players searchable or the results always show vip and premium? It would be nice if the search results don't show "free" accounts because it's pointless to send them PMs and me waiting for their replies... lol
Just my 2cents. I understand the company wants people to "pay" but I just don't know if restricting PMs is a good idea. I see both pros and cons but I think there's more pros in letting people "communicate".
This is not a Mobile Wireless/Telephone company where you need to pay to "talk"! This is an Online Game where you need players to survive and restricting PM is tough to invite new players. -
Ooops, forgot to scroll down to see.
The power of YELLOW! Yeah. -
Kioshi, how do you get the Yellow color?
-
Can "free" accounts post messages in the forum? I haven't noticed any increase?
-
Oh that's good then.
I was lagging quite bad in Cap last night. Not sure if it's my internet or just higher traffic. -
How do I turn my Name to "yellow color"? That looks special! I am VIP!
Back to the main topic. Well, yeah, other ATs have access to stealth as well. They work relatively well most of the time.
I've noticed many people love taking super speed. Weird. That's one travel power that I don't like.
