Somebody told me in the game about this. I wonder what kind of changes are coming? Is it a buff? A revamp of some sort?

    This is a good idea.

I also really want a "Summoner" Class that focuses more on the synergy, combos and interaction between you and your single pet. I would call it Puppeteer or Doggleganger. Basically you summon a clone of yourself (EAT Clockwork? ), and you two share similar powers. You have a mix of range/melee and some defense (not too much since there are two of you).

An example would be: Your clone attacks and puts a "debuff" on the target for 2-3s. If you use the same attack before the debuff expires, you also heal yourself for a small amount. Basically you have access to a lot of debuffs, buffs and healing but it has to be done in conjunction with your clone/shadow.

I know it sounds complicated but the current Mastermind is more like one master commands an army. I want a summon class that I need to "interact" with.
  3. I think Claw may be my most favorite melee set if Shockwave does knockdown. :P

Well, almost all of the "old" gamers that I play with on freedom HATE stalkers (with more than 6-year of subscriptions). They don't just feel Stalker is "ok". They absolutely dislike Stalkers and I am the only person who keeps leveling Stalker, which becomes a running joke among our circle of friends. lol I am like the "odd ball" kind of player who uses things that most don't like.

So basically, you can do something about technical problems or obvious bugs, but you can't do much about the "fun value". I think a lot of experts just don't find stalker AT "fun". Now, how do you fix "fun"? Re-design the whole AT?

Another thing I've noticed is that I am one of the very few that start this game as CoV and I don't play enough Brute/Scrapper/Tanker. I think after you play a lot of Scrapper/Brute, you probably don't feel a thing for Stalker since Stalker is more fragile with "average" damage potential. And things only get worse for Stalkers because other melee ATs have more set combinations. There's really no good reason to play a Stalker unless you enjoy a good challenge. :P

We don't have too many who can or will do the sorts of analysis that Obitus, Werner, and Arcannaville do. I know I can't.
I say in general Heroes have more fanbase (with exception of Brute), which makes sense since the game starts as CoH.

I just think if certain things that need to be addressed, we need to PM dev about it. They honestly didn't know that Stalker can't critical with 3 out of 4 Epic Sets. Synapse thought those sets weren't even assigned with critical value. And then I PM Aribiter Hawk and he said those sets "should" critical for Stalker. Well, hopefully they can do something about it in the next patch.

I am also waiting to see a slight improvement on Shin Breaker which Synapse said he hasn't forgotten. :P God, I am annoying!! lol But this is how you get things done.

I don't want to be a harsh person but Claw does provide a lot of mitigation. :P I made a 50 Claw/Will Stalker first and then a MA/Will Stalker. At that time, I thought Willpower was that great but later I found out that it was Claw that was adding so much more mitigation.

I don't think Dark Armor sucks. Dark Armor is just a bit gimmicky and it's wonderful when you have two running the toggles.

Autumn... how is that even a powerset name is beyond me. If they choose the name "Autumnal" for a Fire/Ice dual wield set, then I'll be totally shocked. They may as well call it "Four Season" with Fire/Ice/Electricity/Wind (lethal damage). LOL

Please don't make a Autumn set dev. It's just a mix of fire/ice blasts and dual blade that we've already seen.

    The future sets

With the introduction of German Shepard, do you think it's possible to create a Primal/Beast Set for Mastermind?

    Tier 1: 3 Wolves/Dogs

    Tier 2: 2 Cats/Lions Or Hawk/Eagle (with sonic blasts. :P)

    Tier 3: 1 Bear/Gorilla

I would love to play a "Druid" theme MM! :P The 3 powers for Primal, I think...

    1. Throwing Knife as tier 1 attack

    2. Bite as tier 2 melee attack that has good debuffs.

    3. Whistle as tier 3 power which buffs the pet by giving it more defense/damage, much like Bestial Wrath from Beast Mastery?

In LOTRO it's primarily a PvP thing, but it wouldn't necessarily have to be here. It would be fun to run around sewer trials as a Longbow new recruit, PPD rookie, or even just a Hellion beating up on my own kind, working my way up to more powerful unlocks.

It could work as an EAT too, for Protean-style doppleganger characters, though trying to fit something like that in with the enhancement system is a headache.

Of course, more lore-based EATs would also be fun. I would love to play a Rikti, with a modified costume screen like what VEATs have, or anything else that you can't just make with an approximate costume and a similar power selection.
Yeah. I thought about this as well. They can create certain "Lore ATs" where you can level from 1 to 50. The leveling process will be more limited, meaning that you are not going to get much flexibilities and you have a lot less powers to "learn" from.

My initial idea is that you pick a boss from the Lore class (ie Master Illusionist) and the signature powers will be summoning the Minions and Lieuts from that lore class (Strongman and Illusionist).

I am not sure if they'll go for it since we already have Lore Pets.

The greatest ability of Stalkers is not AS but their Hide. Hide lets a Stalker go almost anywhere at will. You can stand behind (or under) something as tough as a GM and they'll never see you until you do something offensive. You can decide what fights you want to get into and (combined with placate) the speed of the engagement.

As part of a group, Stalkers are not just 'gimped scrappers'. They should not be in the center of the fight but working around the edges picking off the weak and wounded. If a stalker has to hold the line in place of a scrapper or tank, you can (and I've seen it done brilliantly in the past) but you might want to suggest a more 'hit and run' style for your group.

I dont think Stalkers need big changes, just people need to rethink how they are meant to be used.
This is exactly where they failed this Stalker AT completely IMO.

Stalker is not the only AT with stealth. Everyone can get concealment and more stealth IO. They are not as strong but in most cases, they are good enough.

If Stalker is the ONLY Stealth class, then we can say we are at least "unique". However, stealth is not unique to Stalker. In fact, Stalker doesn't even have unsuppressed Stealth (Brute/Scrapper have access to!).

I just played Rift online game and only Rogue class can stealth. I've also played WAR Hammer and I believe only Witch Elf and Witch Hunter can stealth. And I believe only Rogue can stealth in WoW and Burglar class in Lotro. You see the trend?

You see, Stalker is probably the easiest to get replaced on a team. I am leveling two Blasters right now and I forgot how high damage Blaster is!! Stalker's burst damage is quite overrated. It's good but not at the expense of waiting for 5s or more with interruption and it's only single target.

This game is terrible for Hit&Run unless you solo. The pace is just too fast for it.
  12. I do think part of the major problems why Stalker isn't getting any better because we don't make enough noise. As sad as it sounds, the larger the noise you make, the better the service is.

Famous players like Arcanville usually come up crazy maths for Brute, scrapper, blaster..etc but I rarely see any good discussion on stalkers. Yes, there are select few stalker fans that talk about this AT but in general, there is not enough "noise" made that can be heard by the dev.

I've got into the habit of just PMing the dev about issues. I know Test Rat PM dev Synapse about Kinetic build up issue during 21 beta and that got fixed immediately.

I've PMed Synapse about Stalker losing Rib Cracker debuffs and he said he may improve Shin Breaker's damage. I've even PMed Synapse about Dark Blast Life Drain issue and he agreed to look at it and then he improved Life Drain a whole lot more when they port the set to Blaster.

So if you want this AT to get better, start doing something about it. Complaining in the discussion threads won't help. If you feel certain issues that need to be addresses, just PM them but don't bombard them with questions.
  13. I tested it a bit more. CE will not interrupt (I thought it would) but you can't get Hidden status so if you do Placate + AS, you only get the normal damage.

And yeah CE is still very good. It is a bit hard to use it with Placate that's all. It does seem to tic much faster.
  14. What summit is that? Like a convention?

  16. The most skipable IMO is Triage. Trip Mines is ok. You also don't need too much slotting in it. I've never tried Detonator but if you need some good aoe damage, I guess it's worth keeping.

Mmmm, yeah, my only experience with offensive toggles is dark armor. I usually run fear toggle and I thought that interferes with Placate + critical. I am not 100% sure if it actually interrupts AS.

The new stun aura in Energy Aura has no self damage right?
  18. I tested my SJ/CE last night. I find it odd that CE actually does not interrupt my Assassin Strike outside of Hidden.

Has anyone noticed this? I haven't picked up Placate yet (because I thought CE would interfere too much) but I have a feeling that CE would get rid of the Hidden Status but not interrupting Assassin Strike. I say this because if I keep CE running and I stand beside an enemy, I won't resume to Hidden.

Fortunata's Psi attack chain is nothing to be "excited" about. Dominate is the best attack because it's a hold and it does a bit better than tier 1 damage. Subdue is a typical 8s attack (the projectile used to travel even slower) and TK Blast does tier 1 damage with 6s recharge.

Fortunata's Psi attack chain is pretty terrible until you put Gloom into the equation.

What I like about Fortunata is her mez protection, defense, some controls and team buffs. And Blaster can't be like Fortunata because there is no way they would give Blaster that kind of "survival" with the best damage.

Sonic/Mental with a bit of recharge practically gives you a cone attack chain.
Shockwave does pitiful damage. It is mostly used for survival. You use Shockwave for aoe damage?

Sonic/Mental is definitely a great combo.

    +4x8 question

What's the hardest +4x8 in your opinion?

I have to say it's probably Rularuu? I know the Big Eyeballs eat through defense like it's nothing so any build that focuses on defense as major survival will be nothing against them.
  22. 1. For MA, EM, Ninja, Broadsword, and Claw, take out one of the tier 1 or 2 attacks and replace it with Pbaoe that was taken out.

    2. Re-hide timer drops from 8s to 6s.

    3. Team-critical range matches Cosmic Balance range, which is large.

    4. Assassin Strike is auto-hit in pve from Hidden.

    5. Assassin Strike activation time is reduced to 3s with 1s interruptable.

    6. I don't want Stalker's brawl index to increase but I would like our natural critical rate increases from 10% to 15%. Stalker needs to solo better and handles REAL THREATS (AV, Giants, Hero) better.

    Done.

i do agree with you though that stalkers still have a lot of unresolved issues
Unless the dev comment on that, I take it as "intended". :P I am sure they know Kinetic's Burst gives 100% critical.

They may not know about Epic Fireball since they barely tested them.

    +4x8 question

+4x8 Carnies is pretty tough. I would like to see somebody beating them. I think eventually you are just going to lose on endurance and die slowly. What's worse is if a Mistress casts that "weakness" debuff on you. Good bye your tohit and endurance!

+4x8 Arachnos is also hard depending on what type of bosses show up. A Mu boss is going to be a pain in behind because he drains a lot of endurance. The Queen boss does a lot of psionic damage if you have little protection against it.

I think the easiest to do +4x8 is CoT and Councils.
  25. I am working on Dark Blast Blaster and a Beamer (even worse aoe IMO) so I won't have time to work on a Psi Blast and quite frankly, my most favorite toon is Fortunata who I think is the best Psionic user.

Dark Blast also has the similar "projectile speed" and 80' range and Gloom takes about 2s to finish. The aoe knock back is extremely helpful for soloing. TT aoe is slow but it's mainly used for immb.

But right now, Dark Blast is my most favorite Blaster. :P I love Life Drain and even though Dark Blast is not considered a high-damage set, it is still high-damage in comparison to other ATs.

I don't need to try everything before I comment on it. The numbers don't lie. Psionic Blast on Blaster has several useful controls for soloing and looking at the attack chain, it is probably ranked #3 in terms of raw damage (behind Fire and maybe Sonic) but with extra safety for having 80' range on all attacks. It does less damage on a large team so you'll need to pick up another aoe. I know my Sonic Blaster picked up Electricity Epic cone attack.

Most of Blaster sets are pretty standardized anyway. I see pros and cons in Corr and Blaster version but I don't see one being definitely "inferior".
