tk will no longer affect players? sucks balls for me
[/ QUOTE ]
TK is a continuous hold and a continuous repel. Only the repel part is being removed for PvP. At this point, it will take actual player testing to see if that makes TK 'useless' in PvP. If it does, then ask for a re-buff short of continuous repel, e.g., a limited Knock Down.
As it is, TK was definitely being exploited. This is only the beginning of nerfs to overpowered exploits in PvP. For those exploiting, they will complain loudly. But we need to remember that the PvP community has been asking for balance to such exploitable powers. You're starting to get what you're asking for. The "I Win" buttons are being disabled.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I agree TK can be exploited, I think this is a major nerf on Dominators who now have even less "tools" to be useful in PvP.
I really feel bad for Dominators in pvp. With stacking mez protection and BFs, Dom is so useless that it's not even funny.
Even against Mind Dom, it's annoying but it takes forever for them to kill anything. Mind Dom is the only Dom that I find somewhat "competitive" in pvp. They are still fragile as cotton.
If they gonna nerf TK in general, they gotta do something to buff Dominators. And no, perma-dom through set bonuses is not the answer. It is so easy to ruin the recharge cycle and a Dom still needs to build domination and what's worst is if he dies, he needs to wait until it's recharged again and then he still needs to build domination. Do you know how easily a Dom can die during the "down" period? -
Oh, I LOVE the two new slots and then additional slots from vet award. This is too awesome!
Issue 12 is just getting better and better. Great job!!!
This is much better than transferring characters. :P -
This thread is 2 years old?!!! LOL
I thought this is something new! Damn... -
Wow! Now my Ninja/FF can take it! I took Replusion Bomb once and hated it. The recharge is way too long for its use.
-
What is wrong with you guys!
I know who Pearl Charm is now!
-
Wow... you guys have too much fun in this thread!
So Pearl finally PM me. I told her to come here to post. lol
Well, at least I got my answer now. :P -
[ QUOTE ]
My prediction: The next time you team with Pearl she will say that she did reply in your thread, but won't say which reply.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just because they said they post on the boards doesn't mean they come to this particular forum. For example, I only go to two forums here. This one, and PWNZ. You're probably better off checking your server forum.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, she told me to post it here so she'll "reveal" herself to me. What a pain... -
Oh my... the topic is going to far!!
Who is Pearl Charm? Come on, show yourself darn it! And I am serious! -
Ok it's about time you reveal yourself!
Sorry, I am posting this because I've been playing with Pearl Charm on Virtue and she told me she posts on this forum but won't tell me the name!
Pearl said she'll tell me if I post a question here. :P -

I always think of what was done with "Healing Flames" when I think that nothing will be done with tankers. I dont think that the devs are completely done with tankers...it's just that other matters are a higher priority. Take a break if need be, but keep on tankin'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, my problem with this is that the Devs seem to me to be taking a very piecemeal look at tankers. What we need is a good, thorough look (and I know I just heard Tundara, gWrath, and Golden_Ace groan) at the AT as a whole. Why do I think this? Because they seem to do one thing to one set, then disappear for a few months, then come back and fix one more thing, then disappear again.
So by that process, it could take a long time to get changes to all the sets I think need them. I think that if the Devs could take a look at the balance between all of the sets, and figure out what they want from the tanker AT, it would be a lot better.
[/ QUOTE ]
They are looking at Blasters now.... the top 3 most used hero AT. That's their priority.
I think somebody nailed it right. The dev only want to fix something that is popular. Ice Melee is not a popular set (MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE THE SET IS WEAK??!!!!) so it's not on the priority "to do" list.
Just look at my Bitter Freeze Ray example. Who would have thought the dev wants to improve Ice Blast set first?!!! The reason given is that sets like Blaster's /Fire will have more control powers. How about improving /fire set itself?!! What if the Blaster's secondary is not /fire?
This goes to show you what their priorities are. It's clear they only want to fix something that is popular.
(I honestly believe the only reason Dominator got two buffs is that Positron is a fan of Dominator) -
[ QUOTE ]
I bet the dev realize the issue already, so the work is not wasted. Concerning whether and when the set will be fixed, it's not really something we can control.
Maybe, one thing you can do is to keep a record of the ice melee issue/suggestion list, and various arguments with those headache-inducing maths. When the forum purges old threads, you can re-post it such that the information will not be gone. And I'm sure that suggestions to buff ice melee will come up occassionally, it will be nice if we can always point people to your issue/suggestion list.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the Tanker fans have been doing everything you suggested for a LOOOOOOOONG time.
The dev knew about it but they still have not got to it. I don't like to trash the dev as they seem to know what they are doing....
To give you an example, they recently buffed Bitter Freeze Ray in Ice Blast set (which I believe is the top 3 most used range set of ALL). I wonder which genius had BFR on the "to do" list and actually persuaded the team to fix it first?
The dev's priority is very weird. The next "big project" is to fix Blasters which I don't agree but oh well...
They won't fix Ice Melee. Don't bother. The dev have shown tendency of not fixing something that requires too much work. Stalker's placate bug is well known and the dev has pretty much given it up. Ice Melee's fix may require more changes or the dev simply doesn't care.
Enjoy Ice Melee as a gimped set. It's the gimp's choice. -
This is like asking the dev to buff Stalkers in pve. NO ANSWER. NO HOPE.
I suggest you change to another set to play. Ice Melee is reserved to those who want to be gimped. Trust me, there are quite a few players who just play "gimped" sets. -

I have two issues for the list after running with my Ice/Psi and Grav/Ice a bunch lately.
First, for the Icy Assault>>Ice Sword Circle. This is the ONLY power in the set that does NOT accept slow IO sets. The power takes generic slow IOs, but not slow sets. Why not?
Second, for Ice Control>>Flash Freeze. The range on this power is horrible. It's only 60 feet. Mass Hypnosis is 80 feet, and Spore Burst is 70 feet. Why is ice's shorter? This is supposed to be an alpha control or 'oh crap' power, but you practically have to sit in the target's lap to put him to sleep. That's not good for a power that aggros and does not take out bosses (sans domination). It also has the longest activation time of the three powers... 2.37 vs. 2.03 (mind) vs. 1.37 (plant). On top of that, Spore Burst costs less endurance (13 vs 15.6). Lastly, it's the latest arriving of the 3... lvl 18 vs 8 vs 6.
If the excuse is 'because it does damage' then someone needs their head examined. It does piddly damage... 3.61 lethal + 3.61 cold at level 50. Even max slotting for damage, you'd be doing nothing more than tickling a target. And furthermore, damage + mez = more aggro for the dom than just damage or mez alone. I'd trade that wimpy damage for another 20 feet of range any day.
So in summary, you get the shortest range, slowest activation, latest arrival, and extra aggro all for a smidgeon of damage. This power needs a range increase to 80 feet at the very least. I'd like to see a damage boost (triple) if it's going to aggro as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really wish they could get rid of that ice damage in Flashing Freeze. With that damage, you can't stack sleep. It's a control power and it should allow Doms to stack sleep.

While it's a nitpick for an otherwise great set, is it worth noting that in addition to the listed "tends to get in the way" complaint for Plant Control's Spirit Tree, the tree's +regen effect is so small as to be underpowered?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's identical to Triage Beacon in terms of regen bonus, and that seems to get a fair bit of use for MMs. (Still won't make me pick it up on my Plant Dom though ... it's immobile ... eww!
[/ QUOTE ]
If you want to make an issue out of Spirt Tree, I think the immobility is the point to argue change for. Either let that sucker run around like a pet, or change the power to Spirit Moss and let it be a PB AoE aura (you glow green). There is precedent for changing an immobile pet to a mobile one (see Dark Miasma >> Dark Servant way back around I3).
I think a mobile +regen would fit perfectly with the dominator AT that is constantly moving from range to melee. Makes a lot more sense that an MM or Corruptor would have the static +regen as they're hanging back at range most of the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, a mobile Spirt Tree will make this power 100x better. Yes, I think there is a little design flaw in this because Dominator is super mobile and having an immb pet doesn't make any sense.
Dark Servant used to "stand there"? Wow... and the recharge is still the same as 240s? How is that even "useable"? -

hm....if it's not a lot of hassle, I would like the lists for the least common by AT, except for the 3 ATs.

This information was generated April 18, 2007
CoV
Energy/Sonic corruptor, 0.025%, avg lvl 16
Fire/Thorn dominator, 0.082%, avg lvl 13
Necro/TA mastermind, 0.099%, avg lvl 11
CoH
TA/Energy defender, 0.0023%, avg lvl 2
Ice/TA controller, 0.021%, avg lvl 10
AR/Ice blaster, 0.045%, avg lvl 23
Invuln/Ice tanker, 0.062%, avg lvl 19
For the three overlapping ATs, these are contenders for the least common powerset combo:
Elec/Fire brute, 0.078%, avg lvl 14
Spines/Invuln scrapper, 0.17%, avg lvl 28
MA/Energy stalker, 0.091%, avg lvl 17
These were identified from the powersets that were unique to the AT.

Wow, my only lvl 50 villain is Fire/Thorn Dominator! hehe Now I feel special. -

In general, Debuffs stack, even debuffs from the same caster and same power on the same target (there may be a few exceptions, but I cant recall any at this moment). All debuffs stack if they come from a different caster, or from the same caster but a different power.
By contract, Buffs from the same caster and the same power on the same target do not stack. However, ALL buffs on one target, will stack if they come from a different caster, or from the same caster but a different power.
[/ QUOTE ]
How come Envenom does not stack then? Is it a bug or only a few powers like Envenom does not stack? -
I don't have the time to read every single message here but all my characters are in Huge size and when I put on a Cape, their backs/shoulders sometimes "stick out". At first I thought it's just my graphic card but my friends said the same thing. Is there any way to fix this? It only happens on large body size. I am not sure the exact measurement but it's the max. size.
-
Mmmmm, maybe I should just take Hot Feet? I don't know. I am still testing this Fire dom. I do think Psonic's damage is so low at the moment.
-
Well, I started a fire/ps tonight and I don't find fire's control power better than Gravity at the moment. It starts with immob and hold. I took Hold. And then it has access to aoe immob which I am trying to avoid. And then it goes to Smoke, which I really don't find the need for it. People say they use it to build domination but the recharge is "slow" isn't it? How effective is that except it doesn't draw aggro? I am not going to sit there and keep hitting Smoke to build Domination. That's just dumb. (unless the # in the guide is wrong. The recharge is quite slow)
I think I will hate Hot Feet. The end cost is HUGE. I don't even know how some of you guys can manage to take it at lower levels. The benefit is great but I hate the dot damage 'cause I know it will draw more aggro to me than I wanted.
That leaves me Flashlight and Aoe Hold which I am going to take. And I read the guide in the sticky that says Bonfire is questionable. The description in the guide doesn't give me a whole picture. It doesn't have duration in the description and the guide says it's 10s..... I need to test that. I usually don't mind knockback at all. I see it as a soft control and if the Brute doesn't like it, screw him. I know there are many other ATs who would the soft control from knockback.
Yes, I am waiting for Fire Imps. I want to see if those 3 helpers can really boost my damage.
Oh, my point is.... I don't think Gravity has the worst control set. Fire isn't any better IMO. Wormhole attracts "free hits" but at least in 2-4 team, I can handle the hits and teleport foes successfuly without getting killed. Wormhole is a great power for tp foe(s), stun and position foes into ... say Tar Patch? lol
I do hate Propel. I actually like Lift as a soft control. It's quick. But I thought it has -jump effect? I can't disable flight with Lift. All I get is a stupid "flip" animation with some damage.
Mind set is a REAL hardcore control set. In fact, when you think about controlling, you think about "mind control". lol Gravity does need some work, no doubt. That set seems to be designed for Troller more. -

Hell, even when I don't control, every time there is an ambush, I always get hit first. Why is that?
[/ QUOTE ] I would suspect the ambush is simply being smart--what's the CoV AT that doesn't have any form of passive defenses whatsover? The Dominator.
In that aspect, being an offense-based AT with only active defenses, Doms are in Blaster territory...and ask Blasters about ambushes
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it's not just about ambush. Last night, there was an ambush at the door. I had 2 MMs with me. At first, I used Wormhole to stop them which attracted TONS of attention... then the MMs just weren't ready so I said I was going to use Dimenion Shift. Ok, a few did not get DS. Throughout the whole duration, the Ninja MM's pets were attacking the critters (stupid, I guess) while I was staying way back, trying to heal myself and I STILL GET HIT. I got so mad and I asked why did the critters still attack me when the Ninja are attacking them??!!! Is it because they hate DS that much or what? The MMs were laughing. None of them get hit even once. ugh -
[ QUOTE ]
Jib, you should of went with Mind/* my friend.
Gravity has Propel, Dimension Field, and 2 immobilizes which are all garbage powers in my personal opinion.
Now with your sentiments towards wormhole...I would almost go with 5, hehe.
so 5/9 of your primary sucks...wow, i would stop playing that powerset completely.
Mind/* has a quicker animating hold and has levitate (same thing as lift, but does MORE damage).
Everything else in Mind/* is a great power. Mass Hypnosis and Telekinesis are considered to be the most situational for PvE...but they are still pretty damn good.
Mind is 9/9 set. I love it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, when I chose Gravity, I like the rarity. Not because the powerset looks appealing to me. lol
After playing up to lvl 33 at the moment, I feel this set doesn't fit Dominator that well. Singy is a GREAT thing for Controller who tends to stay back all the time. I could utilize that strategy except my damage output with just Ice Bolt and Ice Blast will be... ugh. Ok, so I use Propel sometimes but I just hate it. I can do more within that activation time.
I don't even have AoE Hold. I skipped it to get aid other, aid self and dimension shift. I kinda regret now but I can't do anything about it until I have respec. I don't even have any of the immob powers. They do look useless to me. I don't need crush to stop anyone from running. I have GD for that and if I want damage, I'll use ice sword.
I realize that Levitate does almost twice the damage as Lift and everything else is the same except for activation time. Lift is very quick... I treat it as a soft control. I like it except it does not do a thing on flying critters.
I feel when they design Dominator, they just basically switch whatever is on Controller to Dom without adjusting the little details. -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree, but that is the way it has been as long as I can remember. If you don't want to get shot while wormholeing: break line of sight.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is just a trick to get by an obvious problem. Now I need to rely on Brute even more on a large team 'cause I can't afford to take all the hits first. Wormhole is my only AoE control.
Hell, even when I don't control, every time there is an ambush, I always get hit first. Why is that? -
[ QUOTE ]
What I meant was it's easy for you to avoid this reaction by adding range enhmts and wormholing out of line of sight. The way it is now once you innitiate a wormhole they agro on you and can get a shot off on you. But if you are not in line of sight they can't hit you. I agree it's silly they get that free shot if they can see you but that's the way it is. Try wormholing standing with a wall or corner between you and the mobs.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not a proper fix. The critters shouldn't get a free hit on me because of that split second. They "should" be teleported first. Wormhole is a control power and it should work like hold and lift. Even when I am in line of sight, the critter still can't do anything to me 'cause he/she is held/lifted. What kind of control is that I get hit when I use it? Before I use Wormhole, the critters don't see me... and as soon as wormhole tries to teleport them, I get hit even if they are "gone". That's a bug IMO. When they are not "ready" to shoot, they shouldn't shoot in the first place.
And speaking about this, they should fix how critters respond to alpha. I like how Guild Wars work. The critters don't always go after the FIRST thing that they see. The critters have their own AI. Warrior-type (or Brute-type) critters tend to go after caster-type (Corruptor/Dom) and the long range tends to go after the farthest targets (tend to be casters too). Taunt will try to lure them to attack Brute. The alpha AI we have now is kinda stupid 'cause my job is to control critters BEFORE they attack me/team. But they can free hits ...
