I also think Hurl Boulder should be pushed to a 10seconds recharge attack. Better total damage will make it's long animation less painful.
Yeah I agree. I thought for sure they were going to push Hurl to 10s since it is a very slow range attack. Maybe because of PvP reason(s)?

I vote Stone Spear to at least 5-6s and Hurl to 10s.

I was testing Necro last night and I was surprised when I exited the paper mish and my pets were still with me. I totally forgot about this new feature. hehe

It is pretty good if you know an ambush mish in advance.

    Merc MM vs AVs

There are different AVs out there and some are easier to kill than another. I can't imagine Merc/FF beating a decent AV/Hero. You don't even have AH proc which can increase your output even more. Defense is nice but AV/Hero has a better chance of hitting you and your pets and any hit will probably kill them.

The key to solo an AV is with taunt and bodyguard because it is much easier to manage your health with BG than trying to babysit your pets.

Even if your /FF lasts for a long time, I don't know if Merc has the dps to out-damage regen.

I am rooting for Earth Embrace!

  6. I went to Test and was just reading through the numbers/descriptions.

I am surprised that Stone Spear is actually a "foot stomp with stone spike" coming out. I thought it was going to be like throwing a Jarvelin (like those Rome warriors) or something.

My only concern/question is a lot of /Earth's secondary effect is knockup (one knockdown?) so when Domination is on, does it become a knockback? I hope not because I have a lvl 40 Mind/Energy and one thing I dislike about using Power Push as an attack is that when Domination is on, Push becomes a very serious push. Mind has no -kb. T_T If there is a wall, I'll try to push to the wall but sometimes there is no obstacle and Power Push is pushing way too far. I hope Earth Assault has less of this issue.

Other than that, Earth Assault is pretty much what I anticipated = a heavy melee set.

Tell that to Stalker with even less HP... they should have modified Electricity Armor for Stalker. The good news is there is Shadow Meld but a secondary set shouldn't be balanced with "patron power".

I have an /Elec Brute and I think it fits Brute well because it gives you +speed and +recharge to maintain that "go go go" mentality. It has endurance drain to help Brute sustains that continuous battle and it has an aoe aura to keep that aggro and aoe damage. But Stalker's fight is not "go go go"... the complete opposite.

I've always thought that kind of "challenge" is kinda pointless. No kiting? No aggro-management? So you just jump in and start hacking? Where is the "challenge" part? I don't quite get it.

Instead of duplicating Scrapper Challenge. I would like to give Scrapper a challenge. See who can finish ITF faster with 8 Scrapper or 8 SoA. My bet is on 8 SoA!!

Each AT is designed differently in this game and I don't want people to feel bad about their AT just because they can't complete RWZ Challenge. For one, if you have no mez protection, you'll get owned by Mentalist. For two, Scrapper has god-mode and only NW has god-mode.

Well, /dark is pretty bad in pvp zone. Everyone is SS and SJ. Your Darkest Night will be out of range easily or it really doesn't matter because Defense sucks in RV (could be a bit better in Siren Call and Warburg but you don't have access to DN anyway).

I would say if I spend extra 3s to cast Darkest Night, I am probably dead anyway.

I am curious to see how much DN can debuff on SoA. Our debuff values should be higher than Brute. I mean DN's end cost isn't a joke. If DN on SoA debuffs the same as Brute's, then I probably won't try it. I'll just take leadership Maneuver and save me the trouble to keep an eye on "anchor".

The reason the powers got changed is because the devs have a bit of a rule that no epics should duplicate a power any set that could get those epics already has. Conserve power is available to scrappers, thus had to be removed either from the epics or the /elec powerset.

Be happy they chose to modify /elec. They could have chosen to modify the conserve power that's in the epics, then the hereos would be the only ones who get buffed, and your whine whine villains would be whine whinier.

This was a bit harsher than my usual posts, but I cannot abide usless, unfounded whining.
Actually, I don't hate you at all. Now you just made me realize that the dev did think (at some point) that Conserve Power is over-lapping with Endurance Drain. Let's say that Converse Power is PERFECTLY fine the way it is right now, why would dev change Brute/Stalker's version? Could it be that because they think /Elec Armor is a bit underperforming (especially on Stalkers?)?

If the dev only modified Scrapper's version, then your point about this "dev's rule" applies, but apparently it doesn't. The dev made the change on all 4 ATs and that made me think that they wanted to buff /elec armor somehow (only when it gets ported to Heroes that is).

I am glad they do something about Elec Armor survivability on Stalker.

I whine only because buffing Elec Armor on Stalker and Corr Trap doesn't just happen today. It's been a pretty tired, overly discussed/full of suggestions topic. In fact, I was pretty certain that Defender Trap won't get any AT modifier treatment because Corr's version didn't get much of it.
  13. Yeah, for Pbaoe-ness, I was thinking either Fire/Earth or Ice/Earth. Man, I can imagine endurance cost for sure!

I'll give it little try tonight.

Actually, that's not the point. I do know Defender's debuffs/buffs better. My point is I know I've made tons of suggestions on making /Trap better on Corr but nothing seems to matter because I was under the impression that Trap's values are mostly based on "pet" (therefore Corr's AT Modifier doesn't matter). Ok, fine. But then come to find out that it's not true. The dev can make Corr Trap better than MM's. I guess they just don't feel the need to. That's where I am getting at. It has nothing to do with Primary/Secondary.
  15. Actually, the only point is that why is Corr sharing the same debuff/buff value as Mastermind? Endurance cost is adjusted (finally) but what about the buff/debuff values?

If Defenders are getting what they "deserve" (due to AT modifier), then Corruptor is not getting what they deserve because the value is the same as Mastermind's. Either MM's value is too high (then you have to argue that Trap is over-performing, which is another topic) or Corr's value is too low.

That's where I am getting at. Of course I know Defender should debuff/buff better than Corr, just like Corr should buff/debuff better than MM.

I am annoyed because I "was" under the impression that Corr Trap will never get buffed because it is all based on "Pet" values (except for Web Grenade since I don't believe it's a "pet"). Well, obviously the dev has proven that notion wrong. Trap's debuff/buff values CAN be adjusted accordingly to AT, which means Corr should be moved up or MM should be moved down. Not that I want MM's version to get nerfed but it is bitter to know that when it comes to Defender, AT Modifier matters (well, for most part) but Corr's Modifier doesn't.

I am just "annoyed". It's not to the point of breaking this game. The same thing with Conserve Power. I've voted this power as one of the worst (due to over-lapping with Endurance Drain and 600s recharge) and it's funny that when Stalker fans say /Elec Armor sucks, it doesn't matter but when it gets ported to Tanker/Scrapper, it matters. That's all.

At least Brute's Claw is getting its own version.
  16. So I just found out that Defender's Trap got buffed. I don't know what the final % will be but from what I've gathered:

FFG is 13.3% DEF (Corr and MM are 10%)
Acid is 26.6% -RES (Corr and MM are 20% debuff)
Seeker Drones got boosted to 6.65% -ToHit and 26.6% -DMG (Corr and MM debuffs 20% damage)

Why does Defender's Trap got buffed and Corr's trap doesn't? If I want to use logic, then Defender's trap got buffed because Trap is their primary. Corruptor's Trap should be buffed because Corruptor's buff/debuff value should be about 25% higher than Mastermind's? Corr's trap didn't even get endurance adjustment until maybe a year ago.

And then Converse Power got buffed because it got ported to Heroes?? Funny they didn't think Stalker's Electricity Armor needs some buff because Stalker has lower HP and the set offers no healing/defense to back it up? Suddenly the dev feels the need to buff /Elec just because it's going to Heroes?

Do you see the trend here?

Yes, I know Brute's Claw is currently modified but I won't call it a buff because higher base damage = higher endurance/recharge. It's a "modified" version.

With the nerf of Poison Trap, Corr/Trap just seems really weak. Either MM's version needs to get nerfed or Corr's version needs to improve.

PS: They say Defender's Trip Mind and Time Bomb do less damage... I can give a !@#$# about Time Bomb to be honest with you. Trip Mind is situational at best. I would rather have improved FFG and Acid Mortar for Corr.

NOTE: These numbers were as of the 8/19 closed beta patch. They may have changed since.
Are you sure that Defender's Acid Mortar and Seeker Drones debuffs more than Corruptor's version? Are you positive on this?
  18. Just curious... I thought I16 is in Open Beta now?

Maybe I'll check it out tonight.

If one were to make a tanker and brute with the same powers and enhancement slots, how far behind would the brute be on defense? And while I am new to the game and haven't done any of the end game content, can a brute tank it? Are there any power combinations that work better for tanking? Also remember I am new, so I will not have access to anything too expensive... but it is my hope as an end game style tank I can get that money

The only reason I ask is that I like CoV a little more. It is not about being a villian either, it is all about the graphics. CoV graphics just seem much better. Do the two games become comparible later on? I haven't gotten a guy out of the third zone yet.
Feel free to disagree with me but:

    Tanker = Controller in Disguise

Brute = Potential to be Scrapper + Tanker

If you are a Tanker and you are not controlling the mobs (forcing them to attack you), then you will be disappointed with your performance.

A lot of people like Brute because attacking is Brute's primary so Brute can have better attacks earlier than Tanker. Tanker starts out with more defensive powers.

I am not sure how other games portrait "Tanker", but I hope you have fun.

I didn't know Web Grenade is considered a "pet"? I am surprised that PB affects Caltrops.

So PB can increase WG's slow debuff just like an Ice Hold that has slow/recharge debuff component. PB makes Caltrops slow even further?

Lich, imo, is not there to do damage. He is there to debuff and control. I'd recommend slotting to complement this.
    HOs = Hami Origins?

Dude, I have not even done one Hami Raid yet in CoV... I wouldn't even dare to come up a slotting like that.

This is an issue that has been known ever since they changed the combos (I can't recall for the life of me if Sweep was always like that or if it was changed to that). It's a 'fortunate' bug that may not have a solution primarily because Stalker DB don't get Typhoon Edge. Besides, we can't spam Sweep so this partways makes up for it...
I have a dumb question. You can only trigger Ablating's pbaoe proc when you try to do Brute/Tanker/Scrapper Sweep combo (even though Stalker's is not the same) or you can trigger pbaoe every time you use Ablating attack?
  23. Here is the conspiracy theory....

Dev didn't change Electricity Armor's "Conserve Power" when it got ported to Stalker even though many stalker fans have rated /Elec as the worst set because it's a resistance based with no healing to back it up. Some Brutes said the survivability of /Elec is on the weak side but it has Lightning Reflex to give Brute that "go go go" mentality and Brute has higher HP to back up the resistance.

Funny the dev wants to buff Conserve Power (which I rated as one of the worst powers in the game due to over-lapping with Energy Drain and 600s recharge) when they've decided to port it to Heroes.

Haven't you guys realized that it really doesn't matter what VILLAINS think?? I am not bitter. I've just accepted the fact. /Dark Armor has plenty of holes with Stalker due to the two toggles. My twin bro has an Elec/Dark Armor at 45 and he really hates it. The healing is good but that is the only good thing about the set. The toggling and detoggling of the two auras is on the annoying side. He hates /DA so much that he made an Elc/SR and he is loving it! Sure, you don't get healing but you usually don't need healing!

So back to the main topic, I don't think the dev would change anything on Stalker Dark Armor because DA on Tanker is quite strong. Unless the Tanker fans are complaining about it, there is no chance in hell that /DA will be changed. Personally, I think /DA Stalker fits the theme well (that dark cloud graphic is very cool) but not very good on Stalker.

PS: If the dev buffs Trap just because it got ported to Defender, I will be OFFENDED!!
  24. I love Archery but Rain of Arrow takes a long time to shoot so between FS and RoA, you probably need to spend like 7-8s.

I wonder if each wave of arrow has its chance to scourge? RoA shoots 1-3 times.

I have a lvl 50 Dark/Cold (I was trying to figure out if you are Dark Blast / Cold or Ice Blast / Dark).

The must-take powers from Dark Blast IMO:
Dark Blast, Gloom, TT and Night Fall. The rest is up to you. Life Drain is ok. The healing is kinda tiny with a lot of endurance cost and recharge. I didn't take Life Drain until 40+. I would skip the Dark nuke because you have no Aim to make it worthwhile. I took aoe stun at first but respec it out.

    The must-take powers from Cold:
I say everything! I didn't take snowstorm the first time as I don't pvp so it's up to you. I like using snowstorm to pull but if your team doesn't have a lot of support, you probably don't want to draw all aggro to you.

You should at least pick a Patron Shield.
