Many of those teams also included other VEATS, and I had always heard about how amazing multiple VEAT teams are considering the multiple Leadership pools.

However, I noticed that almost none of the other VEATS had any of the Tactical Training powers. Several Widows and Soldiers did not have even Maneuvers, which I had thought formed a large part of the archetypes defenses. I was wondering, is there any reason that people seem to be skipping these? Is it maybe to just cut down on end consumption pre-24? I can't think of any other reason to skip these powers.
I think a lot of new players thought VEAT's version of Maneuver is just as bad as the one from Power Tool. Maybe a better description is needed or hell, change the power name so new players don't think it's the same thing.

Saving endurance? How about saving time traveling from hospital to mish? Soldier's Maneuver is arguably the best team defense buff in the game with large radius, defense-to-all and cheap endurance cost.

There is no Defense in RV. If you feel like you have no defense in Siren's Call, then don't even bother going to RV.

    Fort < Corr or Dom
    NW < Stalker
    Bane < Stalker
Crab < corr dom or MM
Hey, at least SoA rocks in PvE!

By the way, who PvP in this game anyway?

I want War Mace way more than Broadsword. And I think Ice Melee is a great idea too.
  6. I can WH almost anything in this game except for AVs/Elites/Giant Monsters. I think even some elites are WHable.

After WH, they may not get stunned because the stun is only mag 3 unless I am in domination.

    hehehe... we villains are greedy!

Well, I guess it's not really a buff on SoA in general because by taking Shatter Armor, you need to slot it well (30s base recharge) and you need to take either mace beam or web envelop.

Bane needs a bit more love because this branch is jack of all trade..well, kind of. Bane has a ST hold (Fort's is way better), some aoe (Crab is better and less weapon redraw), good ST damage (NW's burst may be less but the attack chain is like 2x faster!).

I think Castle's design idea is to make Bane even more damage+debuff machine which I like because if I want a "sturdy" Bane, I guess I can go with just Crab or NW.

I think the direction is great. I just hope Shatter Armor can critical, then it's almost perfect. Build Up + Shatter Armor + Placate, Shatter!

PM Castle to read this thread then! Go go go!

I think adding Chain of Lightning to VS (or Lightning Storm?) is probably the easiest "fix" or "buff" for Electricity Blast sets in general because the dev won't change any power from any set no matter how bad that power is "perceived" (EX: Dimension Shift!).

I mean I would vote to get rid of Electricity Snipe but some may like it. I like the single hold (it's bit on the slow activation time).

Or maybe they can add Chain of Lightning effect to certain powers like Tesla Cage or Zap?

I always team, never solo, and I like to run just about anything, from farms, to regular missions, to tfs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can accomplish on a few different characters with a good IO set? Which build is going to bring the most to the table after IOs?

The builds I was considering investing in were
    storm/dark/power defender
    fire/elec/elec blaster
    spines/fire scrapper
Assuming you like all 3 equally, I would suggest either Defender or Scrapper. Storm/Dark sounds like pretty heavy endurance combo if you want to run Hurrican/Steamy all the time and then Snow Storm. Set bonuses will be great to offset that endurance cost.

Spines/Fire is a very strong farming build. If you do boss farms a lot, Spines/Fire is definitely a great choice.

I am even a big fan of Blaster in pve so I am not going to comment on this.

    NOW WE ARE TALKING!!!!

Maybe Chain of Lightning with 12-16s recharge? Fair enough!

My only beef with VS is that once you take set bonuses into consideration, it is a very poor 3-tier attack replacement. With set bonuses and buffs, you can get a much better performance with Bitter Ice Blast/Blaze/Shout because you can use it often and you can choose the target you want.

Does VS even do anything in PvP with so much kiting going on??
  13. Well, the fact that castle even changed FA to Shatter Armor proves that they are looking at SoA patrons. I think NW and Bane can eventually critical with patron attacks.. it just means more work!

I mean the dev can easily ignore all the complaints about Patron powers because we are lucky to even have access to Brute's. Warshade and Peacebringer don't even have epic powers.

This reminds me that I need to check out Darkest Night's debuff values. Has anyone checked it out on Test? If the values are the same as Brute's, then I won't even bother I think.
  14. Fine! I've always disliked Elec snipe.
  15. If you had the choice to change VS in Electricity Blast to Chain of Lightning (basically Chain Induction at long range), would you? Theme wise, I think it fits.

Don't get me wrong, I actually kinda like VS (ugh, why do they have to nerf Pet Recharge!).

I was just thinking about it after reading that the dev have fixed the proc bug with CI.

I figure the dev have finally perfected this type of power so it is not completely impossible to imagine Chain of Lightning in this game?

Maybe on a 6s recharge damage scale with 12-15 recharge rate and the chance of jump is the same as 75%, 50% and 25. Chain of Lightning will benefit from Aim.

    Pain or Thermal

As MM, I think I would enjoy Pain a lot more. Thermal is good if you want to keep the buffs up all the time. There are two shields to keep up and Forge.

I like Pain because it's really just one button World of Pain and the rest is similar to thermal (one single heal and one aoe heal). I am not a big fan of Share Pain only because I can't get healed for 15s. I find that quite annoying but it's up to you.

Thermal does have a good single debuff at lvl 35 (Heat Exhaustion) that Pain doesn't have.
  18. Deleted. The board is slow.. double clicked.
  19. Some claim that it's actually just 15% Resistance Debuff in the game. I need to pay attention more later. Oh well, 15% resistance debuff is still not bad considering it's "front-load" damage is even higher than Shatter (Shatter's overall damage is 1pt higher after the toxic kicks in).

Now if they can allow Shatter Armor to critical, then we've got a winner here!

Build Up, Shatter Armor, Placate, Shatter = Broken Bones everywhere!

You are right that web envelop is better but I still think it's somewhat overlapping when we can get that from Soldier branch (but minus the weapon draw).

It is still nice if Shatter Armor is in tier 1. Oh well. I just don't like mace beam being tier 1. Envelop is fine.

Yeah, I just went to Test and hit PB and then WoP and nothing's changed. The description does say it can improve Defense. I know it won't improve +Damage but I would expect if it can enhance +defense, it can enhance +resistance.

Ok, so my natural follow-up question is WHY??? Don't give me that Resistance > Defense. On squishies, Defense > Resistance. Damn, I was so excited....

But seriously, why is that? I mean how fair it is to PB and then hit Fortitude to make it like god-mode like?
  22. Shatter Armor at lvl 50 (you need to take either Mace Beam or Web Envelops)

    - Base Damage 153.48 (Shatter does 154.60)
    - Activation time: 2.33s
    - Recharge: 30s (ouch!)
    - 20% Resistance Debuff for 20s

    ------------

This is a GREAT addition for Bane as this means Bane has two heavy attack to open the battle with. You start with Shatter Armor and then Shatter!

I need to test to see if Shatter Armor can critical because the description does not list critical damage.

I may just re-make my Bane because of this new power! I am excited.

    -------------

Ok, I just did some testings. Shatter Armor CANNOT critical. I guess it's because it's patron power. The base damage is pretty high. 30s recharge is on the long side but Bane has mental training so it's alright.

My main problem with this power is not the power but the Mace Beam and Web Envelop, yet, another two over-lapping powers. It would be nice if the dev can move Mace Beam to 2nd tier and Shatter Armor to tier 1.

Other than that, I think it's a pretty neat addition for SoA.
  23. As of today, the patch says SoA no longer has Focused Accuracy from Mace Mastery (which is great!) but instead they get a Mace Attack called Shatter Armor that can reduce target's Damage resistance (at first I thought it's reducing the target's "damage").

This is such a good thing because 1. FA is really not needed 2. Bane is the only branch that uses Mace and Bane has received most complaints about survival/activation. This allows Bane to hit even harder on single target.

I am logging to Test now to get the data.

Wow.. interesting. I've never really "studied" PB as the only character that has it is Dominator and my doms don't really have many buffs.

So if I have leadership toggle, PB effect only lasts for about 20s because buff toggles re-reset after 10s and since PB lasts 15s, the remaining 5s is good enough to buff the next 10s?

PB can enhance Damage Resistance buffs right? I know it can't enhance +Damage.

Wow, if PB can benefit WoP, then I am definitely taking it!!! PB's recharge on Corr (Ghost Widow Patron) is only 120s which is even less than WoP. This means if I combo the two together, I can consistently provide:

    11.3% (base) + 8.8% (PB's 78% buff?) + 6.3% (enhancements) = 26.4% Resistance to ALL??!

Is this possible? I know that enhancing resistance has penalty that it sort of caps at 56% (as opposed to 95% for other types) so can PB enhances 78% as shown in Mid Hero? I am not even sure if that data is correct since it hasn't been updated for so long. I am excited now! I've never really thought about PB with WoP.

On side note, I don't think Hero will ever get Pain Domination but the dev has been proving me wrong more and more... since Gone Rogue's theme is Hero turning Evil or vice versa. Who knows. Pain Domination on Defender/Controller is highly possible?
