  1. Don't know...they forgot? it's not like there are very good procs in ENDMOD sets. Maybe chance for stun?

I would love for the dev to go through all the pet's sets again. I mean Oni from Ninja set is STILL taking knockback set and he can't take either immb and hold set. It's been like this since sets were introduced. Oni is just as broken, if not more because Oni is a boss pet.

Then there's Grant Cover and Phalanx Fighting that also doesn't mesh with a melee that moves along the battle field.
Mmmm, besides Against All Odds, don't Grant Cover and Phalanx Fighting promote that "Stalker should fight closer to other teammates to get more critical chance"?? I actually thought it fits pretty well. You can have several stalkers running in and "buffing each other" even before the fight starts. The Stalker buff basically wants Stalker to fight with the teammates rather than running away (hence the radius limit). You don't think a Stalker with Shield would want to stick with the team just like how the set is designed?

Yeah, the only problem will be Against All Odds which I guess they can just alter to a simple +resistance" shield. After all, didn't they change Rise to the Challenge from Willpower to fit "Stalker"? To say they can't change "Against all Odds" for Stalker is kinda weak. Yes, I think they can if they want to.

I don't think Shield is that bad on Stalker and for an AT that lacks good AoE attacks, you don't think Shield Charge will be very very welcome?

And actually do I think "theme" plays a pretty big part here even though the dev says otherwise. Stalker/Assassin don't mesh well with "Super Strength" like the Hulk. I can care less about "themes" but I think that's one reason.

And I am not crazy over Super Strength either. I prefer War Mace/Axe on Stalker. I just want Shield secondary. :P

And like some of you have said, I think it is better that each AT has one unique set like Ninjitsu and Super Strength.

How much -regen does the temp. dagger do? Is that good enough?

I really don't want to choose psi just because it's the only set with -regen. I feel it's a bit unfair.

If I have to pick Grav/Psi, is Lift, Mind Blast, Subdue enough? The attack chain doesn't seem enough damage? I mean Singy adds some damage.
  4. I was reading a thread about how a Blaster can solo a GM being a Fire/Mind, which makes me wonder, which set combo gives the best range potential in your opinion?

So far, I am leaning towards either Gravity (Lift seems to be a very good range attack now) / Fiery or Gravity/Electricity.

Grav/Fiery has the new Fiery Embrace (still 30s?) and two very decent range attacks in Fire Blast (8s!) and Blaze. So a simple attack chain would be: Lift, FB and Blaze.

I thought about Gravity because 1. it has Build Up 2. VS could be a decent way to add more range dps while you use Lift, Lightning and Charged.

What do you think? I actually have a lvl 44 Grav/Icy that uses Lift and 3 Ice attacks. One thing I've noticed is that with fast recharge, I barely need the 4s one. Just Ice Blast, Lift and BiB. Another problem is that Ice Blast's damage is kinda on the low side being a 6s.

Another reason I brought up Gravity is that Singy is best when you hide behind or around it and it survives very well. If it's fire imps, they'll probably die easily if it's against AV. And the same thing with Jack Frost, Fly Trap and Gremlins. Not too sure about Stone.

PS: For Epic/Patron, I nominate Sleet but I don't like Ice Armor that much. Ice Armor adds L/S defense.

I nominate Elec/Earth. It's almost like a perfect match. Earth Assault costs a lot of endurance after you get Seismic Smash and then Fissure. Conductive Aura is perfect when you are in melee range. Just drop aoe sleep patch and pick off target one by one or use Tremor. The cool thing with knockdown is that they may get put to sleep after kd.

I haven't got Fissure yet but I am sure it will help even more 'cause it's an aoe, kd and some stuns!
  6. I had one at lvl 50. Claw is a very fun build. Mine didn't take Tough and I see you took the new epic tools to offset the endurance cost. Mine took Mu for Balls of Lightning instead.

I didn't need Tough 'cause shockwave and focus offer a lot of knocks. Some may hate it but others like me just like to knock things around for fun.

    And willpower is very good.

Meanwhile Katana was brutal and is a very commonly chosen set for AV killing. So I'd be really surprised if broadsword was all that good for stalkers.

which makes me cry everytime I partner with my friends because my main is bs and they are katana and ninja blade.

If the AV has less lethal resistance, I think Katana/Ninja Blade could be very good especially if you slot for procs. Ninja Blade is very quick.
  8. I say the chance is near ZERO. If they go by the theme that "Stalker can't hide with a Shield", then I would say Stalkers aren't usually seen as "Super-Strength". Assassins are supposed to be "skinny, evil..." after all. lol I don't agree but I say the chance is very slim.

I actually think Shield set would fit very very well in Stalker.

I want War Mace a lot more by the way.

I could be wrong but most of Psi range attacks have pretty long activation time? Subdue 1.6, Mind Blast 1.5+ and Scream has over 2s? When I said "very good", I mean Fire Blast kind of "good". I am assuming a Dom may need to Hover in air like Blaster to benefit from soft-cap range defense. If Dom only uses range attacks from Psionic (it's gotta be psi to get Drained Psyche), is it enough dps to overcome GM's regen? That's my doubt.

    I see.

Does Assault Robot have an attack that has -regen? If I remember correctly? I was looking through the list of screenshots and they are all Robots.

I am a Merc user here. Maybe I can try with Merc/Trap. Without -regen from poison trap, I don't think Merc can even cut through the regen. I do have a Merc/Poison but poison doesn't give me enough protection like FFG. Have you tried with /Poison? I know poison has decent -regen debuff.

MM's are the easiest/safest AT to solo GMs with.
Do you use Taunt to keep aggro on you? Have you done it with Ninja or Necro? I have to admit, Robot is the only MM I don't have over lvl 32 and I've never taken Taunt on my MM only because I don't like aggro on myself and I like to direct which target my pets attack.

By the way, has anyone tried soloing with a Dominator? Psionic Assault doesn't have very good range attacks.

Oh... her. Bane doesn't have "repel" resistance so without acrobatic, I can see why it can be very frustrating.

I've tried using my Merc/Poison on a GM with a Dual Blade Brute friend. We were bored one day and my /poison couldn't -regen fast enough. lol Both of us weren't really IOed. I know my Merc didn't have procs.

The problem with MM doing GM is that if we are not flying in air, any aoe damage can wipe them out quick.
  14. Ok what does Stalker have that is in his favor against AV? Is Assassin Strike an addition or a minus to total dps?

As for end management, build for it. It's not like those /SR Scrapper/Brutes have QR and they solo AVs.
Yeah that's my point. Scrapper/Brute have access to Quick Recovery and all of sudden they can solo AVs and Stalker can't? I don't think any of my Stalker is that weak.

If it's about endurance management, you can slot Numina and Miracle or even get accolade to increase your max. endurance bar. That should be enough?

I have soloed some AVs with Bane and Night Widow. NW is a bit easier only because of her god mode allowing me to slash nonstop. My Bane has end problems for very very long fight. I still need to put unique in him.

What does BS/Regen Scrapper have that is much better than BS/Regen Stalker?? Besides not having stamina-type of power, is Stalker's dps that much lower?

And there are many types of AV in the game. Are we talking about the real ones with purple triangle or just some AV in AE mission? Those are much easier to deal with and I am sure Stalker can handle them.

Are we talking about you soloing Ghost Widow or something similar?

    Increase Recovery
Increase Attack Speed -- 20% (same as Mental Training)

Came close to dieing a few times with lag not letting me pop the inspiration.

    and about the mm's:
I have a 42 bots/therm mm that has soloed AV's and Heroes since 35, and a 33 Demon/therm mm that does more damage then the bots do and will pass that bot mm. Not only do they solo the AV's and Heroes, but at a diff of +0/X8 or +1/X5.
I hope you ate "purples" instead of greens against bosses. All SoA are "defense" based and one or two purples can easily push them to "god-mode". You only eat green when you get unlucky hits.

Mmmm... interesting. I have not tried /thermal MM but since I am tired of Ninja/FF due to all the bubbling, I have no intention of making a /thermal MM.

    Isn't Ballista an Elite boss?

So, basically they can master more content than stalkers (access to all content have all ATs except the epic ones). So...

I would LOVE to see a Mastermind or Blast to take on a real Giant Monster. Hell, the only clip I've seen with a Defender is Rad/Sonic and that's with two shivans in the end.

I didn't like the "So Stalkers" thread because it's basically a "Stalkers are worthless" thread, and I posted this thread more as a positive discussion. I believe Stalkers as an AT need a little more lovin, but I don't think the AT is "worth less" than any other AT. But clearly, opinions vary.

I think this issue, for example, is more noticeable when logging into a high-desirability AT like a Brute, and then logging immediately into a Stalker and essentially not being very wanted. For example, in the last couple weeks I've played 2 Brutes and 1 Stalker. Probably spent more time on the Stalker, since I'm soloing all his arcs. I'm quite frequently asked to join teams on my Brutes, whereas I don't believe I've been asked once on my Stalker. I'm this close to going into hidden status, or Not Looking for Group status on my Brutes, where it's not even a concern with the Stalker.

Now, does it matter to me, personally, at this point in time, that nobody's asking me to join teams, farm missions, strike forces, bank missions, etc on my Stalker? No, because I'm soloing arcs. I find it annoying that I'm being solicited all the time on my Brutes - I have no interest in farming for others, tanking (I prefer the term "bruting"), or anything else at the time.

But surely this has to be important to others. I can't be the only one to think there's something wrong with that. If you're a Stalker and you want to get on a team, it's likely going to be harder than it is with other AT's. If there is one spot left and there is a Brute and a Stalker vying for that position, does anyone realistically think the Stalker is going to get in?

Popularity and desirability have always been issues for Stalkers. And while the AT has been buffed a few times since release, these problems still exist. I just believe that factors like base and max HP, and incomplete secondaries are issues here. I would say, ideally, that I'd like to also see AS as interruptable, but no doubt others might disagree. And that's fine.

It's certainly not a "skills issue" and I believe, solo at least, Stalkers are just fine. But I think with a fair bit of certainty this AT is the least popular of the 4 melee AT's, and this trend shows no signs of reversal. At least in my mind. I do find it hopeful that Castle believes the AT "needs something" but I can't imagine what he or anyone else at Paragon Studios would do towards rectifying things.

I think most of us think Stalker needs just a bit more. Some believe more survivability, some believe just more damage and some like me believe Critical should happen in a more "planned" situation than "random" because Scrapper already has that randomness.

Stalker's critical should happen whenever I want. I want to have more control on which target receives the critical. It's pointless to critical a minion that is about to die. I know people overkill all the time but the problem with Stalker overkilling a target is that once I am un-hidden, it takes 8s of doing "nothing" to get back to hidden or I have to rely on Placate which only works on one target. In most situations after AS, I just keep on scraping like an "inferior" scrapper and I think that's where the gameplay problem lies. I do believe Stalker can scrap but it might not be the desired gameplay for an Assassin.
  22. I highly doubt an AV with high regen and god-mode can be soloed by any Brute/Scrapper. They'll run out endurance eventually.

I believe Stalker can solo most AVs/Heroes that can be soloed by Scrapper/Brute. Besides having lower HP, Stalker has Assassin Strike to back up the loss of some dps and it's not like Stalker's dps is that low with base 10% critical.
  23. A True Nuke on a Blaster with Aim/BU can be good because that combo can actually wipe out many things in seconds.

A True Nuke in Dark Blast without Aim is terrible. Yes, I understand it also debuffs tohit but Corruptor's secondary is too important to lose all the endurance for that "so-so" damage.

So basically, unless I am /Kin with FS, I won't take true nukes on Corr and Defender but it's just me.

As for sets like Assault Rifle, Archery and Dual Pistols, well, they have one thing in common... lethal damage! I mean I still hear people complaining about lethal damage. I think it's ok for them to have "semi-nukes". It diversifies the sets more.

But the semi-nuke on Fortunata is godly... lol Another reason Fort is so good.
  24. Well, VS has several "cons".

    1. VS' damage can't be buffed, which can be a major flaw if you have a Kin on the team. I do see that Blaster gets 20% damage buff after casting VS. That's decent.

    2. You can't really direct which target VS should attack.

I actually like VS on my Elec Dominator because I can do other things while VS does damage. That's the strength of VS.

I just thought electricity blast should have some "jumping effects". The theme fits perfectly but the set was designed before the jump was introduced. That's all.

I thought about that but that will be a lot of stuns... I don't think the dev would allow that unless they increase the recharge to 20 or something. That would work well because genin have many other attacks to use anyway.

I just don't think the serious knockback from Crane fits well.
