Quote:I'd crit my pants if he could take both chance for psionic damage procs from the hold sets, Ghost widow's embrace and neuronic shutdown. Doubt I'd have room though after putting chance for +mag2 hold in. mmmmmmmmmm.....damage.....
and yes the genin will only have a chance for smashing damage when the use crane kick, a KB power.
Well, Mids shows Demon Prince can take hold set. There is absolutely no reason why Oni can't/shouldn't. Oni needs a lot more damage than Prince!
In fact, if you compare the two, Oni still has a lot of room for improvement. Prince would cycle every power at melee range while Oni can't if he draws his sword out. The only thing Oni has over Prince is Rain of Fire and other than that, Prince > Oni any day and any way! Rain of Fire on Oni is hit or miss because the target is dead, the rain stops.
I've PMed Castle about Oni's knockback set a while ago and he knows about it. He just doesn't have time to fix it yet.
Has anyone put hold procs in Prince yet? Good result? One good thing about proc damage in Boss Pet is that the proc damage is HIGHER than yours because they are considered "higher level" than you are. :P
PS: Believe it or not, while I don't have a lvl 50 Ninja, I did a lot of testings on them when they introduced new Pet AI. I did the most test with Merc, Ninja and Necro. When pets were allowed to take -recharge effect, Grave Knight's range damage was quite impressive. -
Well, another way to look at it is that since Nin/SR can get soft-defense easily, you can go for Achille's Heel proc and even Lady Grey proc in each attack if you can afford. :P
There are still options to "max" your toon other than defense I think.
Technically, you can get three damage procs easily. Two lethal from Mako and Shield Breaker and one Negative from Lady Grey. -
Quote:I still have the habit of saving it. Some spawns can take longer than one minute if I play +1 x6 with my Brute friend. If CS recharges Build Up right before the fight is over, I won't use it to finish off a boss just because I don't want to wait for Build Up for the next spawn. I want my BU + Burst ready for bigger group!I think you are missing my point. You have the habit of saving Build Up for the next spawn, because you never had a choice before. With good slotting Build Up takes 40 seconds to recharge. Most spawns do not last that long.
But we'll see... if they nerf Burst, then I may use build up more whenever it's up. -
Quote:I've made several Stalkers to lvl 50 and my Ninja Blade is lvl 45. However, I have not spent enough time to put a lot of sets into them as I get very alt-tis.I have been looking for a reason to play a stalker for a while. I really like the concept. I have rolled several up over the last year and always delete them before level 15. This is is no way a slight to the AT. Its just me. Well I finally rolled one up not based on something I read of the forums, saw someone do something really awesome ingame, or been told to roll by others. I created this toon because it fits a character idea I love! I rolled up a Ninja Blade/Super Reflexes Khajiit Warrior. When I played through Morrowind, this was my favorite race to play. With inherent invisibility and its natural grace, it made the perfect concept for a stalker.
Now, what I want from you all. I have not been able to find much of anything written on the power combo. Have I gotten into a toon that will please my min/maxer side while deeply satisfying my desire to have a toon I connect with? What have you been able to do with this power combo?
Having said that, Ninja/SR definitely works as you can stack "position" defense. I think a truly min/max combo may be Ninja/Willpower as "resistance" (especially psionic type) is hard to get from set bonus. Position defense is the easiest thing to get.
One good thing about Ninja Blade is that "melee" defense from sets is very expensive to get if you want Touch of Death full set but Ninja Blade offers melee defense! Mako set, on the other hand, is much cheaper so use Mako to satisfy your soft-capped Ranged defense and use Scirocco for more AoE defense. PbAoE set like Obliteration also offers good melee defense but it's freaking expensive too.
It really depends on "max" you want from Ninja/SR. I think if you are just aiming for some set bonuses, then it definitely works well.
Or, another route is to get Soul Mastery and rely on Shadow Meld and work on your +recharge to make it recharge faster. -
I did a test on Genins before and technically you can force them to "kick more" by not giving them the first upgrade. Losing the first upgrade, Genins run in to use Crane kick more but it also means the target(s) is getting knocked back more. I don't like that behavior much to be honest.
Proc damage is only triggered by the specific powers that have that effect. Genin can only trigger smashing damage with Crane if you put kb proc.
Oni is STILL bugged. Oni has no kb powers at all but he is listed as taking knockback set. He should be taking both Immb and Hold set! -
Yeah, if you are only farming for recipes/drops, Crab is definitely a great choice. Start with Venom, jump in for Frenzy and Frag Grenade.
-
Quote:I normally only use Build Up once per spawn because let's say that CS recharges after the first 10-15s of the battle. If I use it again, that means I may need to wait for Build Up to get recharged again for the next spawn.Well, before KM, we only used Build Up once in a spawn because it doesn't recharge fast enough to use it more often. There are also plenty of times where after killing spawn A, it is not recharged yet for spawn B.
They are fixing the KM Build Up so that it has the same cast time as all the others.
It's nice that they are shortening Build Up's animation. That also means they are going to fix Burst. Oh well...
I was doing the SF in Sharks and I did manage to get instant recharge on Barracuda. It was cool. I just have the habit of saving Build Up for next spawn. The AV fight went pretty fast.
By the way, Villain's Frenzy buff is awesome too! 60% damage buff and 15% recharge buff on Stalker. hehe -
I don't really farm. Do people farm +4 x 8 all the time? That seems unlikely and you probably spend a lot of time killing bosses.
I think Crab can easily farm +0-2 x 8 against most groups. Crab can survive and has awesome aoe. Crab is just not very good taking down single hard bosses. -
There was a very old thread that shows Confuse actually improves XP gain in the long run because you kill quicker and you still gain exp at a decent rate (as explained by the two posts above).
1. Like others have explained, you still gain decent XP.
2. You and your teammates may gain exp faster because you don't die as often. Confuse is a HARD control.
3. Screw the Brute that is complaining about not getting enough Fury! -
Quote:The alpha info was linked to.
-Lore slot: Summon enemies from enemy groups to fight for you. In the beta, there were only Praetorian groups listed: Clockwork, Warworks, Seers, etc. The most potent upgrade of any of these shown at the time allowed you to summon 1 Boss and 1 LT at a time from the group you chose.
.
Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been wanting a new AT called "Boss" whose poewersets revolve around "hiring" enemy groups to fight for you. The advantage of this is that you get to change your pets frequently so you don't get bored.
This Lore Slot sounds cool (so far)! -
Yeah, Earth is better for large team.
If you mostly solo, I would nominate Mind and Electricity control. Elec's static field makes soloing like a joke. Just put them to sleep and pick your favorite target and you can just save domination for final boss(es) if you want to be on the safe side. -
Quote:Gremlins don't do big damage, not even close to fire imps.
Gremlins are a little light on control.
Gremlins aren't easy to control..
Gremlins don't get in my way.
Gremlins don't do knockback, but they do knockdown with their own jolting chain.
Gremlins contribute to end draining.
Gremlins distract spawns from attacking me. They eat aggro.
Gremlins should have a damage aura, but I hear it's bugged.
I wouldn't skip Gremlins.
I agree. I think Gremlin's "suckage" is way over exaggerated. Yes, they don't deal Fire Imps' damage but they can take hits and they are very aggressive. Any damage from your pets is what I consider "bonus" on Dominator. Dominator doesn't have buffs/debuffs to babysit the pets so whatever I can get out of them is bonus to me and Gremlins can absorb a lot of aggro for my Elec/Earth Dom who stays in melee range all the time. -
I skip immb in most of my dominator builds. I hate them. They cost a lot of endurance and draw too much aggro.
And if you like Jolting's knockback, you probably don't want immb with -kb. -
Quote:Well, I've been playing Kin stalker a lot lately and unless you pay closely attention to Build Up power icon, you can barely notice the feature is there. The only time I know it's there is when I do Placate + CS. Now we can debate whether that is more beneficial than Placate + Burst (more aoe damage) or Placate + Assassin Strike (even harder ST damage) but in most cases, this instant build up feature is not that practical. Why would they do that? They gave it the Build Up refresh in place of the crit. There is nothing to compensate until someone proves that the Build Up refresh is itself lacking.
I've seen people who put Build Up or Aim on "auto cast". I find that so wasteful. Maybe this instant recharge is better for those that set it on auto.
I don't know about you but how many Build Up do you normally use in a spawn? I normally only use once and then save it for next spawn. To me, this feature doesn't matter to me at all. It may matter when I am facing a Hero but the chance is still only 20% and Kin's build up has the longest activation at 1.9s?
Overall, this instant build up sounds good on paper but not so practical in most situations. This is ok because Kin has many other good attacks. If we are losing Siphon Power system, then I would much prefer 100% critical from Burst. :P -

Quote:Hmmm...I feel a bit of a difference from starting the fight and continuing the fight, when you have your max amount of -DMG stacked on them.
However, it alone won't be enough, you'll need that defense to just basically not get hit.
Mine is KM/WP. Going up against Infernal, this doesn't give alot of Fire Resist, and my Fire Defense isn't close to being softcapped, but I do find I have a bit of breathing room, as long as the RNG works in my favor (curse that monkey!).
SoW, I also find useful. In my experience, it works great for AV fights. Now, AV fights with lots of other enemies around, not so much, but with just one hard target, I find it goes a long way.
Also of note, is I use level 33 IO sets (for exemping purposes) for the most part, those who use lvl 50 IO sets, will likely find AVs (while still likely difficult) easier than I do, with a bit more resist, do a bit more damage, even better ENDrec...ect...ect.
Won't be by much, may not even be noticable outside of the endurance concerns and a few more additional points of DPS.
I have yet to see why it wouldn't be possible for a Stalker to not solo AVs, blasters have done it, and they're squishie.Stalkers are kinda squishie, but still tougher than a blaster.
However, I started trying for Pylons. I think I need the gapless chain complete. I should have the DPS, and I was surviving the Pylons damage easily, but it was feeling slow.
My DB/WP scrapper clocked in at 155 DPS (25mins on pylon), and doing the math for KM/ on stalkers works out to be 155-166 DPS (BB - BS - FB - BB - BS - CS - Repeat) so it should be doable for stalkers to solo a pylon. I will know for sure when I get the last 3 pieces of Armageddon.I just don't feel like testing that out further untill I do (155 DPS works out to 25mins of button smashing...that's why I'll wait to do a full test on it
)
Also, versus AVs, Assassin Strike may be a good substitute for FB (Placate + AS should be better DPS than FB), how I can say on Infernal and a few other AVs, getting it off even with softcapped S/L defense on Lethal using AVs, has not been a cake walk, and it just seems like I'm better off using my DPS string and ignoring AS.
That gave me the biggest chunk out of Infernal before that mutation incident.
Let us know if you've soloed Pylon! My Ice/Trapper Corr almost did it but he didn't have enough +recovery and I die when pylon was down to 25%. That 25% would be a lot easier to take down for Corr with loads of scourge....ugh. I've only tried it twice. -
Quote:Yeah... I agree. I think the 20% "instant build up" feature is pretty weak because nobody would really use placate + CS except for testing the feature and a lot of times my build up is already recharged. That's what I thought to. CS doesn't do more damage, and it's crit range doesn't increase on a team.
If they took away the 100% crit, would they give the increased crit for teaming on CS that it lacks?
If the answer is no. I think it's fair to call Burst 100% crit, a Kin Melee feature.
If they find it works for all the other sets too, more power to the other sets! \o/
I think the 100% critical in Burst is a good feature for Kin! Hey, at least it's team friendly which Stalker needs. -
-
Don't worry... I feel the same too. I will take Cold over FF any day. :P
Cold offers a variety of buffs and debuffs while FF only focuses on a few things. The only thing Cold lacks is mez protection. -
Quote:Doing the numbers with Mids, Focused Burst loses a bit of DPS over using Quick Strike, but not a whole lot to make a difference.
If you're going strictly for DPS, Quick Strike is the better pick. I however love the range of FB, and it just adds to the super feeling of the set, so I use FB over QS.
Currently trying to solo Infernal as a level 50 AV. I had a nice chunk out of him, all was looking good (not using inspirations, but do make use of the mutation power from the mutant pack), I had the +Defense option from mutation going (which basically replaces the +3% Defense PvP IO I'm still missing (I'm working towards it with hero merits, but slowly, if I was trying harder for it, I'd have it by now), when I hit mutation and wouldn't you know it...I reclick it to turn into a Rikti monkey! Grrrrr...
Still missing 3 Armageddon IOs and the PvP IO from my build to have a gapless attack chain. And I'd beable to increase my DPS, if I could move the IOs in CS (5 Hecatomb's) into BB or BS, for the proc to go off more often, but haven't figured a way to get CS to recharge fast enough outside the current slotting.
My build also lacks Hasten.
When i19 hit, I'm sure to improve on the AV soloing build.
So far against Infernal however, I haven't seen a need for tactics to be used against Infernal, which saves on the end (59.62-62.19% slotted ACC in my attacks, with 42% Global Acc in set bonuses, and a Kismet unique seems to be enough to hit Infernal with no real notices in misses).
Infernal is a tough one for Scrappers however, so I figure it'll be a bit tougher for Stalkers.
You might get more out of DM's heal than KM's -dmg. However, if memory serves, you'll need less recharge for KM's chain, thus freeing up room to improve your defenses.
Martial Arts I have no doubt has the DPS for AV soloing, but the stuns won't get through enough to be a big enough factor (in my experience with KM at least, which I have stunned Infernal, but it never lasted long to give lots of regen room).
DM's -tohit and self heal, or KM's -dmg, will probably help more in this area.
And remember, defense! That's the important part.
Also as a note for when you start, Infernal see's through Hide and a Stealth IO. Makes getting off a starting AS difficult at times.
Thanks for the details. Yeah, I like Focused Burst a lot too. My Kin/Dark skipped Quick Strike at the moment.
Do most AVs have very strong resistance to -damage debuffs? I guess my point is does -damage matter when Stalker's health is low? It may matter more for Brute.
Are you Kin/Will or Kin/Nin? -
Quote:Ah... I remember that post now!Damage comparison with MA and EM, and another post for DM.
Looks like DM still offers more for AV fights even if its dps is a bit behind EM and MA. -
For ST damage, is MA better than Dark Melee now? I am not so sure if the -tohit effect matters that much against AV but the self heal is probably pretty important.
I may want to give MA a try and turn him into a ST damage machine but not if DM can still compete and offer a bit more like fear/healing/tohit and negative damage.
Is Martial Arts' damage a lot higher than DM and EM? If not, I still can't convince myself to commit to a set that only does ST.
And also, Kinetic seems to be pretty good too if you focus on the first 3 faster attacks and only use concentrated strike and skip focused burst? The -damage debuff is probably decent against AVs. -
Quote:Find a group of people that will play with you until last mission. Keep one of them on the TF forever (have a person sacrifice the char to you, and perhaps you pay them a fixed % of your revenue.)
You can freely change difficulty settings mid-ITF by switching the settings and logging out.
<_< It may not seem like it, but I'm pretty damn brilliant when I want to be.
lol I see. I was like how do you even start an ITF without enough people. -
But don't you get Imperious until the last mission?? How does Emp/Psi handle the first 3?
-
Have you thought about Night Widow/Blood Widow build (Follow Up + double Assault)? I was doing +4 x 6 Longbow with Warden in every group. It was hard but my build isn't totally IOed (since I never plan a build for farming) and she doesn't have fighting pool to help her survive heavy hits.
I did manage to kill most of the spawns on my own but I had to sort of "lure" them to a corner so my Spin and Eviscerate can hit more LBs.
Maybe Longbow isn't a good one to farm as their wardens and sonic grenades can be overwhelming. I am pretty sure my NW can handle +4 x 8 CoT, Councils and maybe even Carnies since NW has good psi resistance and lethal damage is deadly against them.
Not sure if my NW can handle +4 x 8 Malta because those lethal resistance is going to tire my fingers out. Oh and same as Crey. Just takes too long.
