Hello all
I know this has got to be the lowest form of idiot question out there, so please feel free to use me as the brunt of the joke after this but I just have to know. I've been looking around trying to create an AoE damage build and I'm really not finding it. Every one I look at has one AoE (maybe two) at lower levels and one more at higher...I"m obviously missing something here...Hero or Villain dosent' matter, neither does class..the goal is to have a character that is focused and built for maximum AoE damage. Could someone please point me in the right direction? -

I took several ideas and meshed them together into a bio I think I like. Still a bit to long to use. the in game I.D bio cuts it off around the word "False" in the second to last sentence, but with a little whittling I think I can figure something out. Again thank you all so much for the help on this

Nathaniel Rusco was born deaf and blind to the world. At first his parents thought him a normal disabled child. It wasnt until age six, when while playing with his older sister, he fell and let loose a scream that severely injured his sister and sent her to the ICU. His parents, concerned for their own well being, sent their son to a special meta-human orphanage to live. As he neared adulthood, his powers to generate resonance as sound or air waves, caught the attention of a recruiter from Crey industries who was interested in him as possible emissary to the Freakshow gang, who by now had been costing Crey Corporation millions in stolen Biogenetic and cybernetic devices. His new employer gifted him with a special piece of hardware devolved by Architect Studio which attached to his ears and sent information directly to his brain that allowed him to see and hear the world as a virtual reality simulation. However, Cray Industries remained quiet on the fact that this virtual reality was in fact, false, and gave him only the information they wished him to have. Sent out to the field, Tonedeaf now lives in a world in which he sees the evil he does only as the benevolent actions of a hero, thanks to Crey industries, and the Virtual lie he now lives in. -

I recently started a new Sonic/Kinetic Corrupter and named him Tonedeaf. While having a backstory isn't required by any means, I want to flesh this one's out just for the fun of it. However I've run into a few snags that I really could use some help on. The basic story for him is that he was born Blind/Deaf as a mutant who came into his powers around six years old or so, and discovered them while playing with his sister. he fell, wounding himself and the howl of pain was so powerful that it sent his sister to the ICU. His parents fearing for their safety sent him away to a special orphanage for meta-human children, where he was mistreated and later "discovered". The problems I'm running into are these:
(1) Meshing the primary and secondary. As a Sonic/Kinetic corrupter his primary power set is fairly easy to explain. But how to add in the Kinetic? I understand the concept of kinetics being the power of motion in the most basic sense. However how can I explain how this could go with a Sonic power set?
(2)Who recruits him. The primary backbone of his adult life would be being found in the orphanage by a member of a current villain group. Right now I'm thinking of a story that involves a agent of Dr. Aeon finding him on a routine scouting mission. However my CoV/CoH lore is extremely weak. Is there a better villian to use? One thing I would like to avoid is the "god like falling to earth" bit. I want to make this a very human, very flawed toon.
(3) Also another aspect along this storyline would be the introduction of a "headpiece" or other technology that would give him pseudo sight and hearing in order to interact with the world that would be gifted to him by his benefactor(s). One arc I was thinking of was that the villain boss would have created it in such a way that Tonedeaf wouldn't be aware that he was doing any evil acts. Can anyone help me flesh this idea out?
(4) Lastly, as you can tell I've tried to add several details into the storyline, perhaps to many. When I've tried to type this into the character bio/I.D. I get very little of the concepts that I want in before I run out of room. Is there a place I can go (forums, websites, groups, etc) That offers to help write a story that would fit into the word count the in game I.D. restricts you to? I doubt it, but I just thought I would ask

I've been playing a Mastermind for a few days now, and have gotten him to the verge of lvl 12. I've run into a bit of a problem though. I finsihed the missions for Angelo Vendetii, and after killing the Vampyre all he says to me know is that the Council is on to him and he has to lay low. He won't offer me any new contacts to continue on with. The contact Mongoose also is done with me, and he will only say to visit Mikey the ear or Drea the hook. I've already done the quest line for Drea the Hook so I assume the quest lines for Mikey is done as well. Did I miss something along the way or is the life of a villain one that I should just find my own mischief now? -

These are relatively simple questions, and I've looked around for answer but no luck..probably because there so basic most post just assume you already know the info. If anyone would mind answering any or all I would really appreciate it
(1) My highest level MM is (/cough) a level 12 bot/trap and the last day or so I've been playing him, I've noticed something peculiar. I place one of my minions on follow/defend and the other one on Follow/Offensive. Since yesterday though I've noticed that the stance button under the advanced pet command shows a exclamation point with a red circle around it. Can anyone tell em what this means?
(2) I've read in several guides that the minion upgrades automatically apply the upgrade to all minion in range instead of one at a time. However when I use the upgrade It is still a targetable and only one minion shows the animation. Do all other minions still get the upgrade without showing the animation?
(3) One of my other attempts at a MM is a Thug/DM and I'm loving him. However several guides I've seen around say to pick up the lvl 10 rez spell even if you solo. I'm under the understanding that the rez will not affect your minions. Is this true? Is there another trick about it I'm not aware of? From the way I've read the posts it almost sounds like you can use the effect to disorient and mez the targets around a minion when he/she falls in combat, however the rez portion of the spell will not affect them. Is that right?

Hello all
I started a Illusion/Kinetic controller the other day and I'm really enjoying it. However the Blind power is giving me some deal of difficulty in learning to use correctly. No matter where I place myself in relation to the target(s) I never seem to get any axillary targets mezed. I get my primary target 95% of the time, but only secondary mabey 20% and tertiary 1-3%. The two ways I think I'm doing it wrong are (1) The chance on secondary mez is so small that it is working the way it's intended and I'm just hoping for more then I'm getting..this is the most likely situation. or (2) my placement to the crowd I'm trying to affect is off. I usually try to get max range from the group (my first mistake as I'm thinking about it.) and will stand directly in front of the target with one or two additional targets at their flanks. If anyone could please point me to a good source material on how to use this power correctly or could give me some advice/pointers I would greatly appreciate it. thanks! -

I hope i am posting this in the right area, if not, my apologies. I was able to to get what I thought was a really great name for a new character today, but would like some input as to what class and powers he/she should have. The name I was able to reserve was "The Maestro", which is the Italian word for "teacher". Most often associated with classic opera or theater. I'm thinking of a storyline that would have a rather untalented piano player who takes the world by storm packing in theaters and opera houses worldwide, only one day to find that it wasn't his talent at all, but meta powers that "convinced" the audience members to applaud (you know, think Kevin Federline with a tux) He/She would later go on to take up the role of hero and assume the name "The Maestro" as a nod to his former days. If anyone could please I could use help with the following.
(1) Class (I'm thinking originally controller)
(2) Primary/Secondary (Maybe Illusion or Mind + secondary?...or maybe there's a better primary someone could tell me?)
(3) Costume ideas. I have Magic and Valkyrie packs and am two months away from trench coat.
If anyone would care to give me your ideas I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance! -

I'm working on a Rad/Dark Defender, and could really use some expert advice to see if this build will work. I've only worked it up to the mid 20s, as by then it should either work or not. Enhancements are placed, but they are placeholders. Types are correct but level/types aren't included. Consider them "best for level" when looking at build. A few of the points about it; I've focused heavily on AM x 6 slot and Hasten 6x slot to maximize them as fast as possible. Damage is broken into two main groups, Dark Blast and Moonbeam early on and Tenebrous Tentacles and Night Fall later on both 6 slotted. I wanted also to get stamina asap and give him at least one travel (SJ) asap.
A few issues I can already see. Soloing at lower levels may be difficult with so few enchantments in the damage abilities, though I'm hoping AM/Hasten by 13 will help there. RI/EF will be endurance drains pre 20 and downtime will be considerable when I solo. Also not having the Healing from Radiant Aura hurts. I'm kinda a self-heal *cough*... Would have also liked to add in Gloom early on since I tend to solo alot.

Hello all
I'm starting a new Rad Defender and really could use some help. I'm not very good at correct build stratagy, and have been reading a few of the post, FAQs, and guides I can find, so I have basic idea of what I'm going to do, however the one build strategy I'm considering I've not been able to find an answer for. I plan on taking Accelerate Metabolism as soon as possible (level 2) and slotting it for 6x recharge by level 7. (2x slot at 3, 5, and last at 7.) If my math is correct this should be about a 50%ish reduction which would give me about a 1.5 cool down. Does this sound reasonable to anyone or is it overdoing it? I'm thinking that the invention slotted recharge reductions are about 20% which would really only need 5 slots and even less later on? Am I going the wrong way with this before I start or am I doing it right? Thanks for any input on this, I appreciate it! -
As I mentioned in my posting, the issue doesn't have anything to do with server up/down time. I've attempted to log into CoH through Valve while I am sure all servers are up and running normally. When I click on the game in my list the error happens before I even get to the updater. Valve itself is saying the game is unavailable.

Hello all!
I'm a newish player to CoH and have been a Valve/Steam user as well for awhile in the past. Previously to the announcement that CoH would be available on Valve, I had been playing the 14 day free trial normally.(i.e. I downloaded the client locally and played it through a local directory on my computer.) When the game designers announced they would be using Steam I decided to buy the full game via steam. The game downloaded in steam normally (as far as I can tell, Steam doesn't ask for a file location.) However as it stands now, I can't use steam/valve to connect to the game. When I open Valve and go to my games tab and try to enter CoH from there, it gives me a pop-up "Game not available". I thought this was due to server downtime but i've tried connecting though valve many times at different times but always with the same results. Has anyone else ever experienced the same issue and have you solved it? Thanks for any help
