People have been guessing it might be darkness themed or dark illusion, but nothing has been announced.
-
Yeah Soldiers are about as close as we will probably ever get to having a Leadership power set.
-
Count me in, I already have a 30 something dark/dark that I love to death over on Justice that mimics my favorite Star Trek DS9 character: Garak.

Quote:Yeah that does seem like an odd choice.I find it rather funny that a game that people keep harping on saying is about grouping doesn't allow free accounts to start groups when that's a key thing that will keep them subscribed instead of dragging out their xbox and playing any other single player game.
It's going to be funny watching a dozen f2p accounts trying to group up together only to realize they can't.
Really. Not allowing free accounts to start groups is a poor move. -
I think mentioning the theme you are looking for would help.
-
No, that was one of my favorite movement sets - I actually had fun with the mechanics quite a bit. A LOT of stuff in THIS game can be argued as looking stupid, and yet they still exist for those that don't agree.

There already is Leadership powersets. They are called Arachnos Soldiers.

Curious: why not wait until blasters get dark sets and (dominators?) in a couple of months?
You could run another group before that and start this one after Issue 21 hits - but I realize you probably won't. -
Quote:Honestly, when speaking to the majority of the playerbase, I am not sure the majority even read any mission stories at all.I think the problem is the more strict storyline red-side [it's gotten better recently]. The more pro-active nature of villains makes it harder to write for. Mako did a good job with what he had, but it ran up into the problem of having to tell the player what the character's motivation was. And unfortunately, for a lot of content red-side you're resigned to being a gopher. It's gotten better, and I suspect that the changes to Mercy Island will also improve that situation with regards to being Arachnos's Predestination Paradox.
And signature stories should help to provide other story lines that are mostly free of the 'Thug for Hire' syndrome that much of Redside suffers from.
So I'm hopeful. -

From what I have witnessed in all my years playing the game, the main reason people prefer hero to villain side has nothing to do with the archetypes.
People are CONSTANTLY making villain archetypes into heroes, and from what I have always heard is that it is due to the depressing environments that you have to sit through for so many hours to get to 50.
I don't really think there is anything that can be done about that. The environment matches the story and the theme - it is just that many people don't like it as much.
Again this is just a common answer I have gotten from people all these years since CoV launched. -
I always put two end cost minimum in Leadership toggles AND put end cost in attacks.

..or else, what?

Good lord, I just checked and the patch is nearly 2 gigs?!

Honestly, if they just removed the interrupt and shortened the timer, people would use it even with the long recharge.
The power has way too many negatives to make it ever worth taking. -
Quote:...and your solution to make your idea for that working in a game is what?Nope. The point is that Iceman's power is really a slide power. His Ice slide has to be connected to the ground in some way for it to work. Had they wanted to Cryptic could have made it work and had the effects of the trailing slide expire after 5, 10, or even 15 seconds.
Instead they went with flight. The ice the character stands on fly's thru the air with no connection to the ground and it can hover. It's a frozen flying surfboard. -
Quote:Their particle trail is the closest thing to it that can be done without covering the entire game in gigantic trails, crushing performance and making it impossible to navigate or even see, if that is all that your argument is about. It's obvious that you either never actually played CO or you don't understand how Iceman's Iceslide works. Iceman's slide leaves a long sheet of ice trailing behind him that he slides along as seen here.

Cryptics Iceslide is a surfboard size platform made of ice that flys and leaves a snow aura. It doesn't have the long trail of ice that is the signature of Iceman's Iceslide.
I bought the game and beta tested it before that, and even reinstalled the stupid thing when it went free to see what had changed.
Don't assume things like that, it makes you look foolish and the intention is either to get an edge in an argument or to create anger. -
Quote:That was never the question, and yes they do.No they don't. What they have doesn't look anything like Iceman's Ice Slide. What they have is several travel powers that are nothing more than Hover Board with different objects to stand on. Their Ice Slide literally looks like Silver Surfers board with icicles hanging off of it.
-
Someone should tell Cryptic about that then... their game has it.

I remember my dad giving me a fearsome stare once or twice when I was younger.

Quote:Yes to repulsing torrent, yes to lightning rod being considered a melee targetted pbaoe, shield charge is a targeted pbaoe. So Repulsing Torrent, with the exact same size as Energy Torrent from a ranged blast set should be considered a melee cone because it is in a melee set? Powers with a range of 30 feet also should be considered melee cones because they are in a melee set? Is Lightning Rod, with a 60 foot range, a melee attack too? What about Shield Charge, it is not in a melee set, but only armored ATs can use it?
