Quote:I wouldn't be surprised, as since Issue 12 when they came out my fire/fire scrapper is my favorite character of all 7 1/2 yrs. I have no Hasten but took Spiritual/Reactive/Barrier/Phantoms/Pyronic to tier 4. He's fairly purpled out where I wanted it. Thing is, my fave AT is defenders.I gues a /fire scrapper can bump it up even higher, for having Fiery embrace?
He's been so ridiculous at damage output that after several rounds of BAFs for a few days in a row the leaders of the leagues singled me out for the adds teams, because whenever I alone would switch sides for the final phase of the BAF while going for Keep em Seperated my team would always overtake and fly past the other against the AVs. I got several tells full of compliments and my wife and I still grin about it to this day (she plays with me.)
Yeah, he can be squishy, as he just uses Tough on top of the various set bonuses, but killing speed is my survival tool for most of the game.
This is not meant to be a brag post; rather this is just relaying my long experience with a fire/fire scrapper. He's so much fun that I find it hard to enjoy other melee combos. -
Well, thinking you have to keep anything alive for the chance to spread disintegration is a first mistake...
-
...not compared to what it used to be like.
...also, Synapse has already said he would have no problem giving it to defenders someday in an interview I think, unless I am thinking of another dev like Black Scorpion. He said it was due to the lines blurring more and more between good and evil or something like that. -
Yeah I hear that alot from certain players - they just want to press buttons and have stuff die or be arrested, instead of playing with a set's mechanic correctly the way it was designed.
BR/Poison is crazy amazing against hard targets. -
Quote:Cool, I was doing it right then, for the numbers I was looking for.Level +0 SO = 33.33%
Level +3 SO = 38.33%
Level 25 common IO = 32%
Level 30 common IO = 34.80% (Better than a +0 SO)
Level 35 common IO = 36.70%
Level 40 common IO = 38.6% (better than a +3 SO)
Level 18 Triple set IO = 34.7% (higher than a +0 SO)
Level 20 Triple set IO = 38.40% (higher than a +3 SO)
Level 21 Dual set IO = 33.6% (higher than a +0 SO)
Level 24 Dual set IO = 38.4% (higher than a +3 SO)
There aren't enough quad IOs to be relevant. But they are always better than SOs (except that one with a range mod since 9 times out of 10 you don't care about range and it's acting as a wimpy triple)
But I never wait for IOs. They are better than SOs starting at level 18 (when everyone else is on DOs) and they never expire.
Thanks to AE you can buy many of the yellow recipes for less than vendor prices and crafting and salvage (since yellows have no rare costs) are often less than the price of SOs (which get up to 48k each).
If you run AE yourself from time to time on lowbies, you can roll all the recipes you need to frankenslot pretty easily and turn a nice profit at the same time crafting and selling the others. -
I don't play defenders expecting gobs of damage, so that's where we differ.

Quote:Me neither, which is why I was so general.I'm not sure I would want to be running weave in the early levels due to the endurance cost. I'd probably use combat jumping instead, even though I'd be a few tenths of a percent below the soft cap. If it bothered me enough, I would stick a steadfast into tough and still get away with not having to run more than the three SR toggles and CJ.
Then again, I suppose you could three slot weave for endurance, since you don't even need to slot it to hit the soft cap. -
4 slots for toggles, 3 for auto defenses, and slot weave up, that's it while leveling.
-
Honestly I don't see myself putting anything but 3 rech and 1 end cost IO in it.

Quote:I completely agree with this whole post. While I agree that slotting it for End Mod or Heal can be beneficial, I wouldn't say either is as critical as End Mod in Stamina. The timer on Chronoshift makes it so that it's wildly impractical to use it for Healing purposes, and the End restoration/recovery, while very nice, is (and can only be) temporary. If you have a tight build and you're not using Chronoshift for specific set bonuses though, I don't see any reason NOT to skip slotting it for Heal/End Mod.
I'm building towards perma Hasten/Chronoshift (once the Defender recharge on CS gets fixed) so I still need a truckload of recharge to keep that truckload of recharge permanent, since both Heal and End Mod sets have 5% recharge bonus options, slotting either fulfills that goal anyhow. (I personally despise the duality of such fundamentally gameplay altering effects having downtime.)
I would argue, though, that slotting Health for regen on a squishy is a complete waste of slots. The difference between unslotted and FULLY slotted Health with Defender level HP is less than 2hp/sec. Miracle/Numina uniques however are golden (and basically always included in my builds). -
Yeah, it's a pleasant surprise at how many players use Exalted, actually. I have transferred one but made many new toons, one of which is already 43.
-
I'm quite different on that subject - I always buy SOs at 22, 27, and finally at 32 I start making vanilla IOs that will last me until 47, because somewhere around there they start being better than SOs.

Quote:4 entire sets of PVP IOs? Yeah, nevermind. Nice numbers though.Wanna see a magic trick? You'll need the latest Mids to see it:

Quote:Uh, you know most blast sets have a short range high damage power, right? Lancer is just the Beam version. I would think it would be a huge mistake to skip it. I want it up more often, to be honest. It hits hard and has a high chance of spreading.I'd like to see lancer shot be the 100% spread option. Yes it's good damage, but I'm damned close to respeccing out of it because of the short range. If it was 100% spread I could justify keeping it and would work to get some range into the enhancement.
Is there a chance to spread on Piercing?
...I find BR/Poison to have ridiculous potential against AVs. I find it slightly weird that I have to play the set BACKWARDS compared to most, where you want to use your hardest hitting attacks FIRST and go to your weakest when chaining, for higher chances of spread, but making the set work any different would be a mistake IMO. I think they designed the mechanic correctly. -
Quote:I hope you are joking. If you want to be dead a lot and have your teams talking about you behind your back, roll a tank. SR are the squishiest of the tanks and need some serious support to stay alive but your team won't care - they will see the Tanker icon and send you out to your death over and over anyway.
I am finding SR tanks are rather ridiculous when it comes to leveling. I have a SR/Ice tank at 42 over on Exalted right now and other than some end issues, I think I have maybe died 3 times total. You realize you need every power except Quickness and Elude, right? You also need to grab Weave and anything above that is just topping while leveling one.
I find them much easier to play than ice tanks, at any rate. This is the 2nd tanker I have ever had an interest to play after Willpower. I shot straight to 50 when Willpower was brand new on my first serious tanker ever, and all these years later, I finally found a 2nd one that holds my interest.
Unless I missed something, everyone else in this thread agrees with me. Sure, when you finally DO get hit, sometimes you get hit hard. I have no sets at all on my SR tanker either, before you ask. I don't run Tough at all. The combo is just that good for leveling. I don't know what he will be like on ITFs/iTrials where the enemies will likely laugh at my ice patch but still, it's been an easy ride outside of some end issues (which will be rectified in a few levels anyway when I grab Physical Perfection and sets.) -
Yeah, it's not really noticeable in combat if you ask me.

...by the way, what are all of you slotting in Chrono Shift after putting recharge in it? Is it worth buffing anything else? On beta I slotted 3 end mods in it but honestly it wasn't worth it in my opinion. That is my one and only gripe about the set - you buff all the recharge for the team yet nothing compensates for all the extra end burn you just created for everyone.
-
Yeah, that's why I put knockback IOs in Hover and Afterburner. All 3 just get the default slot, and my justification is the inherent fitness opening up more power picks but no additional slots have been granted.
-
-
Yeah it's pretty bad. I am serious though, I think when my wife isn't playing with me I will jump over to Exalted and wait it out.
-
-
...which set grants me the Patience buff when it comes to returning and free players?
I am trying so hard to be helpful; I am always in the help channel, I am labeled as a Helper on every character, but man...
I have heard nonstop complaints. Yelling, cursing, you name it - everyone wants everything for nothing. I think the biggest issue screamed throughout the channels is the invention license.
...it just seems every person I have talked to has negative things to say about having to pay for entertainment. I honestly think I may jump to Exalted and wait it out a few months... it is THAT bad. I was really excited for new blood to constantly be around for teams/trials/whatever, but I had no idea the reaction would be this at all.
I don't mean to make this sound like a derogatory rant against the playerbase, honest. I just want to know if anyone else has tips on how to deal with the constant Paragon Studios bashing because it is honestly affecting my experience.
