Quote:He gave me permission but didn't tell me where he is working. We'll see if he responds.I don't have Jeff or Phil on my FB friends list. I just looked at their FB pages and LinkedIn pages to get the info.
You don't have to be on the friends list if they have their profile set to public.
EDIT: yep, Synapse is working at Cryptic for STO. -
UserShadow7989: No worries! I was addressing long-time players but only because I figured the ones still on the forum are mostly composed of them. Yeah, stalkers are kinda like the WoW rogues in a sense - during CoV's launch I kept telling our SG that they were THE weirdest designed ATs in the game. Now they feel far better after several changes over the years, and I dedicated a video to it. So many dismissed their playstyle over the years and once the most recent changes hit I wanted to get the word out.
Oathbound: You sound a lot like me. I never got hooked on my time/fire but perhaps it was due to defenders getting shafted when it came to fire blast on top of already having such low damage. Regarding melee - I had a hard time subscribing to the mentality that survivability was everything (unless you were a tanker) and generally opted for a well rounded build that could survive most scenarios and ignored the edge cases that people tested themselves with.
Vitality: Did you ever grow to enjoy a class you dismissed initially? I had a wp/ss in tanker form so I know what you mean. -
This is one of my favorite threads recently - very interesting to hear different takes on ATs and combos.
FrostPox: yeah, I've got a fire/fire dom I love also - my first permadom. I went back and respecced a few others into it after I figured out how easy it was to do. I created more doms due to how much I loved that fire/fire. The first dom I enjoyed was a plant/thorn though.
DarksideLeague: yeah, I suppose that being a controller or dominator makes a difference there too when it comes to those.
JohnRobey: As far as those 3 ATs go, yes, I grew to like them later on also. I did a video awhile back that shows some tricks you could do with certain Mastermind combos and builds.
SirHextor: Ooh, a dark tanker - I get the appeal, but I couldn't get myself to do it. I had a rough time with my stone/dark brute and stone has a lot of mitigation. I did get it to a point where I had zero end problems while running all toggles except for the stealth at least.
Hercules: Yeah, before ED, Inv/SS tankers were even more insane - I have pics of us aggroing entire zones back then. Also, I can't imagine how rough the end use was on that plant/storm while leveling. I could see massive damage potential there though once that's ironed out. -

There can be great strength in body language, which communicates emotions, as does vocal inflection, but yeah, it's a little more difficult on message boards.

No problem - I am glad you took it the right way, because it was meant to be helpful. I'm always working on audio stuff on my channel as well. I've been trying to slowly improve since April or so.
Regarding CoH videos - gotta hurry, you only have a couple weeks left. -

Thanks to Texas Justice, the OP has been updated a lot. I PMed Phil and we'll see if he responds. Both Phil and Jeff were kind enough to reply to me in the past but I never tried to 'friend' them on FB. I figure that most devs want to keep that separate like Matt does.
Twitter is a different story. -

When they were talking about emulation and reverse-engineering, I explained that even if the full studio did it, it could still take years and never get anywhere. Many devs left years before the end and didn't properly note everything, and they don't have access to any of that anyway - NCSoft made sure of it.

Quote:The hell is the matter with you? You just labeled everyone who has any negative thoughts about Plan Z as a troll?Hey, everybody in this thread? Right here. Look over here please.
Got your attention?
Good.
----EDITED FOR THE CHILDREN----
Is Plan Z going to fail? Yeah, probably, and nobody understands that better than they do. But at least they're trying to do something.
What are you doing? Trolling what's left of a dwindling population.
But it boils down to this: either you're still here because you care about the game and want it to succeed, in which case you should tell the people who are still trying that you wish them good luck and leave it at that if you can't say anything nice, OR you actually want everything to fail and are just here to fiddle while the city burns.
If the latter is true, then please add "with a cactus" to the sentiment in the image above.
Wow.
My understanding of Plan Z is a few hobbyists are putting in a few hours here and there into portions of software pieces that might not fit together in an effort to create a game as a spiritual successor to CoH - a game that had corporate backing and funding for years before release with a dedicated studio designed to run full work days. If this isn't correct, please instruct and give additional info - if it is correct, then don't act like this. -

People want to know more about NCSoft's reason for their decision just so they can argue more.
-
Yeah that seems to be a trend too - Stalkers benefited a lot with those changes.
-

-
That's nothing new - there is a lot of wasted resources in game development, usually forced by the publisher... in fact it probably happens in every game.

Haha, my wife would kill me.

Quote:I'm going to regret not giving Gravity another look after the changes went through, aren't I?1. Looking back, considering everything, which was your favorite archetype in the game?
Bruuuuutes.
2. In possible contrast, when it comes to your favorite character, what kind was it? List AT and the two main sets.
Two of my big 14 (characters who reached 50 or had 100+ hours of play) broke 1000 hours:
Dragos Bahtiam - Fire/Ice Blaster - 1010 hours (first ever character)
Deamus the Fallen - Dark Melee/Energy Aura Brute - 1108 hours (first serious Villain)
If the game had gone longer my TW/Elec would've galloped up the time played as well.
3. What AT did you evolve to enjoy over the years that you disliked initially?
Hmm. This one's hard to qualify, but I guess my Grav/Psi Dominator would probably be the best fit. He IS third in total time played (319 hours). -
