I think you are talking about Castle. He had ideas for that set but thought people would freak because it would require removing the toxic damage from it.
-
I think WM hits harder but BA is safer. They both drain end like crazy, so keep that in mind.
-
I doubt they ever will. Issue after issue, the devs have said several times that they want to make powersets that benefit multiple archetypes whenever possible. Mastermind's demons are an obvious exception.
-
Side comment - I haven't read comics in years; I heard Ice Man is dead? I hope not - if I remember right, he was an omega level mutant like Jean Grey - like crazy powerful.

Ah, well, that brings up another issue I can personally address. Two items that Castle told me were getting addressed never came to fruition.
BRB...
Ok back...
I had asked about changes to phase shift powers, asking if they could be made into toggles, and this is what Castle said:
"Without even following the link, No, we are not going to make Cage powers into a toggle. I do have a tech request in which, if it ever gets approved and implemented will improve these powers, though. "
Second Issue, unrelated: here. -
Bump - I just started playing this character again and it is still happening.
I mean, hey, it benefits me as a player - don't get me wrong, but it's still broken. I would gladly trade in a fix for this for giving me back my Interface damage on every tick of a damage aura. -

...but that's what I said. I was directly talking about the CoV beta and the results of testing. Complete truth. I have yet to address the slight changes in fury generation that we have had since then.

Quote:Oh god please no. Please switch breath of fire for incinerate.Patently not true. Electric, Dual Blades, Spines, even Katana/BS have more than one AoE.
The 'rule', so to speak, isn't that Stalkers get only one AoE, it was that Stalkers automatically lose a PBAoE for AS. But even that rule has exceptions since Kinetic Melee kept the PBAoE and lost the cone instead.
So whatever set a Stalker gets, it goes:
-Trade Confront for Placate.
-Trade self buff for Build up.
-Remove bizarre toggle damage powers (only for Spines:Quills so far) for AS.
--If the set doesn't have the above, swap utility (such as a mezzing AoE, Dark Melee: Dark Consumption, Elec Melee:Thunder Clap, Kinetic Melee:Repulsing Torrent) for AS.
---If none of the above, remove PBAoE for AS (exception to this rule is Katana/BS which didn't lose it's utility (Divine Avalanche/Parry) and skipped right to cutting the PBAoE).
If they choose to proliferate Scrap/Brute Fire Melee, the power most likely to be dropped is Fire Sword Circle which I'd rather Stalkers get since it far more bursty than the DoT of Fire Breath. The likelyhood of Fire Breath being dropped would hinge on making another exception but even then, I'd rather keep Fire Breath too. If anything, I'd rather they make an exception to an exception and drop the high DoT power (Incinerate) for AS because DoTs really don't mesh well with placate. Just getting the optimal powers for Stalker would probably be the best option here rather than just copying one of the existing ATs. A power set-up/order I'd feel optimal for Stalkers would be:
1. Scorch
2. Fire Sword
3. Cremate
4. Build Up
5. Assassin's Blaze
6. Placate
7. Fire Sword Circle
8. Breath of Fire
9. Greater Fire Sword -
Quote:Hey man. I was there on the 3 day headstart too, only on Guardian. This post is epic.I was looking to see what characters I had available for tonights invasion on Freedom and I found this character:
I made him on the first day of the 3-day headstart, Sunday 25th of April 2004, but realised I had chosen the wrong server (I had meant to choose Victory, where the other EU people would be playing)
So, he has been offline for over 7 years. Tonight, I think its fitting that he comes out of retirement to fight some Praetorians! -
Quote:Ah, I didn't realize that you could hit ED limits so quickly on defense toggles. I am leveling an energy aura stalker at the moment, and I have 3 def in everything except weave so far (and of course combat jumping.)If I'm leveling a character up then I usually put slots into my Primary first, Secondary afterward. If done in SOs, the third Defense nets 1.8% extra Defense. Not bad, about 0.1% more than an unslotted Combat Jumping or Hover, but still pretty insignificant if you're not already close to the Defense softcap.
If that character is already done leveling up, do you plan on staying SO'd or generic IO'd out on the character for the foreseeable future? For me, I can't help but begin IOing out a Shield Defense character as soon as I hit 50. I know how incredible they are when they've got a good build going, so I fidget like crazy playing a SO or generic IO level 50 SD. Hahah. -
Quote:Interesting. I wonder though, if it would be better to go with 1 acc in Shield Charge, toss in an end cost, and use it when Build Up is ready.Melee/SL res toggle - 3 res, 3 def
Ranged/AOE toggle - 3 def
True Grit - 3 heal, 3 res
Mez protection - 1 rech
AaO - 1 end
Phalanx Fighting - 1 def
Grant Cover - 1 def
Shield Charge - 2 acc, 3 dam, 1 rech
T9 - 3 res
I never bother with end reduction in toggles (unless there's nothing else to slot, i.e. AaO) as the biggest end drain comes from attacks. -

Again, this has already been tried, and they got rid of it. Ice Melee + Armor on brutes was the anti-fury sets for Brutes and made brutes too weak during the beta of City of Villains.
-
Actually, I never knew about it suppressing while hidden. You could effectively take alphas for a team with that, it sounds like. AS and then they go flying and the rest of the team goes for it, eh?
-
Any of you hit up Black Scorpion with this? I doubt it would make it into 20.5, after seeing the stream tonight. He made it sound that the powers team are already throwing up their arms to the massive amount of work they already are involved with, with all of the new power trees for Lore and then the AOE buff changes...
-
Requesting how one would typically slot Shield when speaking with SO/Vanilla IO terms, please.
Mostly curious about - Deflection - 6 slot? one end, 3 def, two resist? True grit - 6 slot with 3 heal, 3 resist?
etc -
I hope to see plenty of new kins - it makes me want to roll a brute in anticipation.
-
Yeah I keep wondering if Parry is the sole reason they haven't given tankers and brutes the Broadsword set yet.

That disruption power sucks end like mad, but yeah it does sound sweet, now that the shields only need to be clicked once.
