1. I think this might happen. I think Tunnel Rat at least acknowledged that they are aware of this request, but nothing further has been said.
2. Tricky but they are aware of the request - this has been asked for many times.
3. No, absolutely not. You are talking about a power that has a stack limit independent of source. Think about it - if a league is pounding on the same target and everyone has a different interface color, that's going to be kind of ridiculous.
4. Interesting, and probably possible. Expect to get animations ported from other sets for all the alts, and no new ones, outside of adding effects.
5. Unlikely - you can make every version of your idea already in the game.
6. Very good idea - but let's get detailed. What would the second effect be for this, using existing tech? Energy has kb, dark has -tohit, fire has dot, etc.
7. Ehhhh I don't get how rad armor and melee would even work thematically - BUT how about sonic armor and melee? -
-
I sure as heck hope not. Not only would that upset a lot of paying customers, but any hint of the sort will automatically force lost sales immediately.
-
I took a psy/mental to 50 so I never lacked aoe, but yes, you do feel the terrible performance against robots sometimes.
-
Wow. Wow. $5.8 mil seems kinda steep even though they are gorgeous.

Yes that's correct, which is why I mentioned "while trying to level one."

Quote:Oil Slick with those few debuffs will wipe out mob groups by itself, so I disagree with your chain quite a bit. You are right about Ageless, once you actually get it to tier 4, and sets will get you enough end cost reduction if you 6 slot your powers. Here's the problem. You'd get to 50 and have an attack chain sort of like this:
Glue Arrow>Disruption Arrow>Acid Arrow>Oil Slick Arrow>Ignite>Full Auto>Flamethrower
That's a lot of powers just to take down a mob. Not to mention, you need to do it all VERY quickly, so that your 2 -res debuffs don't wear off by the time Oil Slick and Ignite finish killing everything. You need glue arrow to start off with, otherwise everything will run from ignite, and I don't think that oil slick will be enough to keep em there.
However, as far as good toons go, you can't go wrong with something that can do that insane amount of damage (ignite and oil slick arrow ALONE can destroy mobs, what with the both of them together ticking for over 150-200dps). Redraw will become a pain later, but it's still something you learn to live with. I'd play the toon if it weren't so busy. But if you enjoy busy toons, you'll enjoy it.
For solo-ing, I would personally just go Soul Mastery so you can run INTO the mob and Soul Drain, then hit the above chain, destroying everything. (If you could bear it, this would be a pretty decent farming toon). For teams, I'd probably just go Power Mastery, picking up Power Build Up and Temp Invuln, so that stacked with tough (and hopefully capped ranged defense), you'd be quite sturdy destroying everything from range while someone else holds the aggro for you.
Any toon that goes Ageless does not need Cardiac. I will stand by that until someone can prove me wrong. Tier 4 Ageless at its worst will provide you with enough End to keep moving through everything. This way you can take Spiritual, keeping everything on an even lower recharge (though with a good build, you could even go musculature, honestly).
Hopefully this helps.
I voted Cardiac initially since TA will likely hit ED limits for recharge if you are going with vanilla IO slotting per power. Getting a first tier cardiac will take far less work than a tier 4 ageless, but if you chose to stick it out, you are right - is it perma at tier 4 core? I know Barrier is.
Oh, and OP - yes to all of those - I was just mentioning Ignite since that is the best power in the whole set if you can keep mobs in it, even after the nerf.
Burn patches in this game are no joke, and you will have the smallest and largest of them in the game with this toon.
Oh, and fit in Assault (and Tactics) if you can. -
I would go with Cardiac, and then Ageless, in that order, since you are likely to throw 3 recharge in most of Trick Arrow on top of Hasten.
Key idea here is to immobilize/slow them and Ignite them to death as much as possible.
Redraw hell.
Tough call on the patron/epics. -
Actually, I might recommend something with /pain for a newbie. You can keep yourself alive and your pets will have a hard time dying at all.
Thugs/Traps - awesome, awesome combo. Grab Aid Other at some point.
Demons/Pain - see above.
Bots are considered really good, but the 6 second animation time on everything makes me grit my teeth while trying to level one.
Mercs are terribad, but I never could get one up to the commando level.
Necros hit HARD at high level.
Ninjas are hard to control for the majority of players.
Dark is considered the best overall secondary, followed by Traps, but they are all pretty decent with the exception of Poison. Don't pick poison. That whole set could use an overhaul. -
Interesting. I will update the first post in a little bit with your suggestions.
EDIT: Updated. I was wondering if you could summarize Noxious a bit so I could add that. -
That's a tough and vague description - maybe you can elaborate?
Out of all 7+ yrs, my favorite toon turned out to be a fire/fire scrapper, even though I love defenders to death.
Let's see...
My 50s:
Dr Energy - Empathy/Radiation Blast Defender
Bruticus 9 Stone Melee/Dark Armor Brute - ugh, don't make this.
Agent Jaybo Assault Rifle/Kinetic Corruptor
Brain Blast Psychic Blast/Mental Manipulation Blaster
Jaybonaut Willpower/Super Strength Tanker
Cyber Cowgirl Trick Arrow/Archery Defender
Scorching Cold Ice Blast/Thermal Radiation Corruptor
FlintEastwood Fire Melee/Fire Armor Scrapper
ShredJay Claws/Regeneration Scrapper
MeSoThorny Plant Control/Thorn Assault Dominator
Jay Pain Ice Blast/Pain Domination Corruptor
ChillerFrost Cold Domination/Ice Blast Defender
Agent Jaybonaut Dual Pistols/Fire Manipulation Blaster
Kindle Singe Fire Blast/Fire Manipulation Blaster
Yeah, I am terrible with names. Favorites out of these - FlintEastwood, Cyber Cowgirl. Don't make a stone/dark brute. Without a pocket kin it is a terrible combo, but he was my first 50 villain. -
Quote:HAHAHA epic! The issue isnt whether Ice has buffs.. Its that it doesnt have the buff that many people are looking for which is Heals.. RA's and Kinetics..
Look, when someone doesnt want you on a team because you dont fit their ideal.. I usually count myself lucky as not being on that team.. I have found 90% of the time that I just missed out on being on TEAM STUPID that doesnt work together a a team, dies a lot and is looking for buffs to overcome their stupidity.. As I always say.. you cant heal stupid...
I got on a team once that said they were looking for a defender.. So I joined with my Rad/Rad.. I get YAY DEFENDER.. ok no more dying ( that was a bad sign right there)
they were fighting some +3's so Im laying down the debuffs on the mobs and attacking..and we are starting to plow through them... but we are taking some damage ( although no had died since i joined the team )and the team leader screams at me..
STOP ATTACKING JUST HEAL... I said well I have a lot of debuffs and... again the team STOP ATTACKING JUST HEAL...
So I stopped attacking... and just threw out my very small AoE Heal...
and the team died... everyone said wait what happened.. we were doing good..
I said.. Oh well that was my fault..
See I had Radiation Infection which is a 50% defense debuff and a 48% to hit debuff.. but I shut that off so I could just heal like the leader said.
Then I had Enervating Field running which brought their reistance down 30% and brought their damage down 25% but I shut that off so I could heal..
Oh yeah and then I was using Lingering Radiation cut their regen 500% and theire recharge rate 25% but i stopped doing that so I could heal...
And I stopped using Irradiate which is another 50% defense debuff in an area and Neutron Bomb which is another 25% defense debuff in an area bcause I was told STOP ATTACKING JUST HEAL...
OH and I stopped dropping Accelerate Metabolism which was buffing your damage 30% and yor recharge 25% well because its not a heal and I was told JUST HEAL...
So wait classic here.. someone asks for the star so they can invite a friend.. and the leader was kicked LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Quote:I am not sure if you missed all of the posts after the one you quoted or not...But this old saw along with "MMs are the redside tanks" just continues to roll on. It *was* true, and now it's not. Been here since 2004 as well, and a number of things used to be true, and no longer are. Would it be justifiable to say:
Hasten is perma with one slot, no need to add any.
6 slotted stamina will solve your recovery problems.
Slot all attacks with one accuracy, and 5 damage.
Instant Healing is the best toggle in the game.
An attack must HIT you to generate fury, pure resist sets are thus superior.
Those were all true statements at one point in the game. Now, however, you don't see them cyclicly come up on the boards. The statement could be made true by simply saying "The slow made fury difficult, thus it was removed. As of now, it simply has not been ported." -
Yeah, tier 7 and 8 will benefit your team and when you solo when using /Pain.
-
Quote:Say that again in a few weeks. You might not have heard what is happening to Thermal...Pain still wins in number of clicks.
1 Click... Buff entire team, pets, minions etc up to 255 targets (effects the Corruptor as well)
1 click... Perma Pain Bringer on 1 target
vs
2 Clicks per Teammate/pet/minion you want to buff (16+ clicks) (cannot effect the corruptor)
6 Clicks... Forge on 6 tagets (very dependent on recharge)
HUGE difference in number of clicks.
Pains Big second heal isn 't that suicidal if your not taking damage. If you stay off the aggro grind a bit, its a very nice heal to use.
I would also point out that Pain has Suppress Pain aura Toggle. ( Pulseing Heal tics).
Not going to lie, I liked to see some tweeks to Pain in like of the new Shield change. But its still not a cut and dry Thermal over Pain.
Depends a lot on what your doing with it.
Me... I hate clicking... Pain is the way to go.
That said, for soloing, it's pretty even, although it's nice to have two pbaoe heals on yourself.
Pain is really good on masterminds - it's very hard to lose pets when your secondary is pain. -
Well yeah, anyone would have guessed that, but now you know the answer to the question.
-
Thanks for all the answers to the last few posts. Good stuff to know.
Coolio, that's an interesting idea and would totally work. I bet Tunnel Rat could come up with effects within just a couple of days, and the powers team would be able to just steal tech from other sets easily.
Got a weird feeling though that it would have knockback in some of the powers, which most hate, but very interesting idea, especially with the summon animations for a blaster. -
Quote:Ahhh interesting. When I checked my inbox, I couldn't believe how long ago I got that answer from Castle. If it helps, I describe how and why it is happening here. Long story short, the game thinks that you are zoning when you summon a FFG before it has expired so it buffs all pets (as it does when you zone with buffed MM pets).
They must have been able to duplicate it, but it is probably a lower priority fix since it is more of a tech problem, methinks. -
-
If you didn't notice, my answer was regarding his question as to why people keep bringing it up.
They will continue to bring it up for the reasons I gave, regardless of what the game is like now, since you asked. -
Someone else mentioned this combo recently and you guys are making me want to roll a traps/sonic defender pretty bad. I already have a high level traps/ar defender though, so maybe a fire/traps corruptor would give me a different experience.
As far as why I did that combo, I just figured it was thematic and having caltrops/web/acid/and the glorious Ignite power would be too fun to skip. -
Quote:It DID, thus people are not forgetting it. The devs gave that reason for chosing to remove the powerset that brutes already had, which is why it is quoted so often.I really wish people would stop perpetuating the idea that -recharge will harm Fury.
I mean, really. The horse is dead. Stop beating it. -Rech will not break Fury. It won't even scratch it.
Stop saying it will.
True, there have been minor changes to fury generation since CoV beta, but you will continue to hear people telling you why it doesn't exist for brutes because some of us were there and saw how you would have been wrong back then.
