One more vote for Illusion/Empathy - go-go gadget stealth support!

Grav/Time Controller as a re-roll of my Grav/Kin.
Titan/EA Scrapper - yet another weapon/defense armour character to try and replace my Claws/SR Scrapper. May even make it as a Brute instead of/as well as.
Beam Gun Blaster, not sure what with - probably Fire, Ice, Dark or Dev, since I haven't tried those yet.
Street Justice doesn't interest me as of yet - maybe once I see it in action.
Thanks to proliferation, a hopefully-not-gimped Bots/Sonic MM. -
-
Quote:Agreed - you should just delete all your characters and quit now then, eh?As long as Brutes and Scrappers are buffed, healed a protected by their team and keep their same damage, and as long as their survivability is more than enough to survive solo and continue doing superior damage, there's no reason to play a Tanker ever again.
-
I'll echo some sentiments;
Sonic/Thermal Corr
Demon/Thermal MM
Sonic/Sonic Defender
If you can wait for Issue 21;
Thermal/Sonic Defender
Demon/Sonic MM
Resistance buffs + damage seem to be what you want. -
Quote:I tend to feel the same, hence waiting so long to respond - you can only bang your head aginst the wall for so long before something begins to crack. It doesn't help that my default stance in threads tends to be somewhat aggressive and stand-offish, so that's never goodGranted. I really don't put much effort into most of my replies on this topic. For me its like talking to a young earth creationist, after I have shown them that a volcano has rebuilt itself 4 or 5 times or the eroded strata in the grand canyon whats the point ?
All the creationists do is put their fingers in their ears and start repeating themselves. The CoH equivalent is this http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=265933
Also, I believe the correct response to that thread is "This thread delivers" or some variation thereof. -
Quote:"There were nerfs" != "There were nerfs to the way Fury is generated which for some people lead to less overall DPS and burst damage, therefore there was less of a reason for someone to play a Brute over a Scrapper when GR launched, which is why Scrappers were not made obsolete when it did"Somebody says "People kept saying the low countries would be flooded out and look that never happened", its really not a stretch to expect that person to at least realize they have put in place enormous flood control projects.
Some forum folks assume everyone else reads every patch note. This is what I was driving at - you shouldn't assume specific knowledge like this, despite how "common" you think it should be. (Also, I found the Fury changes to be an overall buff for all of my brutes.) -
-
So after the Blaster thread and this one, am I to assume that;
Blasters are useless because Corruptors have debuffs and make the team do more damage, despite having lower direct damage themselves.
Whilst;
Defenders are useless because, while they have stronger debuffs that make the team do more damage, Corruptors deal better direct damage.
I wonder what could possibly be wrong here... -
Quote:And this is why I useThat's... news. Do you mean the adjustments to Fury for Brutes and their damage values? You could call those a nerf or an evening of power with Scrappers and a way to better maintain Fury. And Tanks haven't been nerfed in... ages. Taunt getting a -range component, and then Bruising and the HP cap increase just before GR are the two more recent buffs to the AT as a whole.
so much, since humour is hard to convey via text.
My post was simply to highlight how meaningless the statements AF made were, without saying what the buffs/nerfs were.
Ah well, win some... -

Quote:You know what, you're right - my bad! It most likely is, since /SR got it, but good catch nonethelessCan you confirm that /regen for brutes is getting taunt? I know the change is coming for /energy aura, but I didn't see anywhere that regeneration would definitely have a taunt added in.

Stalker - Kin/Nin
Scrapper - Dark/Regen
Brute - Elec/Shield
Tanker - Stone/SS
Reasoning:
Ninjitsu is unique to stalkers and is generally regarded as the best secondary, whereas Kinetic Melee is thought to perform best on Stalkers due to the interaction of Concentrated Strike crits & Build Up.
Regen is a unique play experience and with Stalkers covered, that leaves Scrappers. Dark Melee has a few tools to keep a Regen ticking over with -ToHit, a supplementary healing attack and a fear.
Lightning Rod and Shield Charge are both unique among melee and armour sets, respectively. Both are damage heavy so between Brute and Tanker, I'd put them on the Brute.
Stone Armour is another unique set, thanks Granite Armour and to a lesser extent, Rooted's movement debuffs. What better AT for the most survivable armour set than a Tanker? Rage from Super Strength has to be experienced - words do it no justice. Double stack it and the -Def crash goes away, the +Dam helps make up for being in Granite, good times.
However, if you're willing to wait on making the Scrapper and Brute until Issue 21, I'd swap their sets around;
Scrapper - Elec/Shield
Brute - Dark/Regen
Why? With higher base HP and a higher HP cap, Brutes will likely get more out of Regen than Scrappers do. Also, with the *possible* addition of a taunt aura to Regen for Brutes, bunching enemies for Dark's Soul Drain +Dam +ToHit ability *could get* a tad easier.
WRT Elec/Shield on the Scrapper, higher damage is always good and the survivability dip isn't too noticable. -

Quote:You think it's funny that the Kheldian ATs are given "back burner" priority by the development team while everyone else gets new sets and proliferated sets and has their powers fixed while an entire AT runs around with messed up powers (PB) ?You think it's funny that the dominator AT is given 'back burner' priority by the development team while everyone else gets new sets and proliferated sets and has their powers fixed when ported to hero ATs (energy armor) while even older control sets run around with messed up powers (gravity and ice control)?

Quote:That's how I plan to have mine slotted. Since you prefer damage over accuracy, swap out a Nucleolus for a Peroxisome and you're golden.
Singularity -- HO:Nucle(A), HO:Nucle(39), HO:Endo(40), HO:Perox(40), SvgnRt-PetResDam(40), ExRmnt-+Res(Pets)(42) -
I think I'll wait for a Titan/EA - Scrappers seem to be taking over all my spare slots, these days
-
I don't know, Bots/Sonic looks good to me - Res, Def and Healing should be interesting. I dread to think what fun Thugs/Sonic will have with Bruiser + Disruption Field.

Quote:Hm, you may be onto something here. So long as we're discussing phase powers...I've put this out there before but this may bear repeating.
My version of Dimension Shift, assuming we're stuck with it:
The power is changed to emulate elements of Oil Slick Arrow. It summons an invincible, unmoveable psuedo-pet. This pet lasts 30 seconds. It has a 25ft radius aura of intangibility and immobilize. Anything that enters the area gets shifted.
To end the power early, kill or dismiss the pet.
This version is more useful for a few reasons. Firstly, the inability to dismiss the effect when desired is a serious issue that current tech can't solve. Secondly, Gravity is a set that specializes in knockback and teleports. Want something trapped in the sphere that currently isn't? Wormhole it or knock it inside.
Dimension Shift and Black Hole are the only ones I have issue with, really. Detention Field and Sonic Cage, being only ST and recharging quickly enough to be made easily perma, make them (for me) a lot more useful. Taking your suggestion and some other points in this thread, without violating the Cottage Rule;
Make Dimension Shift a PBAoE toggle - not sure if it should affect the player and/or friendly targets, though this would be handy if the "attack phased enemies while phased" functionality does indeed exist in PvE. You could even add "friendly phasing" to Null's list of functions.
For Black Hole, I think the placed pet seems more appropriate - it's a shame there isn't an anti-repel ability to suck enemies into the power. Another thought could be to make it work similarly to Wormhole, but replace the Stun with Intangibility.
Also, JayboH & Memphis_Bill - why so serious?
[Edit]Quote:Repulse for Stalkers has been replaced by Disrupt, a stun aura. -

Quote:So someone who pays every 6 months and is only due to pay again in, oh, September (say, me) wouldn't get any points until then? Would I at least get 3 months worth (July, August & September) ? Would I get my points every 6 months, or every month?You won't get the bonus for being subbed on the 1st. You'll get the bonus at the beginning of each billing cycle that starts after the 1st. So if your account renews on the 3rd, you get nothing on the 1st and bank 400 points on the 3rd. If you instead let your account lapse, and reactivated on the 5th, you'd get the bonus on the 5th instead.
*nerd rage* -
I can't say I've ever looked at Spines as being so similar to Claws. I've recently been trying to find my next melee project after a Claws/SR Scrapper and Kinetic Melee seemed to come at the right time - similar enough to Claws for me to be comfortable with the set but with a different damage type and arguably more useful secondary effect. Paired it off with Ice on a Tanker, Regen on a Scrapper, EA on a Brute and Nin on a Stalker - perhaps I need to re-think my appraoch with Spines in mind
One can never have enough alts... -
My suggestion for an Arachnos themed set follows the exampe set by Demons - similar but different pets per tier. For the 3 attacks, I think it has to be the mace. Not too certain on the flavour power.
Level 1: Mace Blast
Level 1: Soldiers of Arachnos - 1st pet is a Wolf spider, 2nd is a Bane Spider, 3rd is a Crab Spider
Level 2: Poisonous Ray
Level 6: Train Arachnos
Level 8: Mace Beam Volley
Level 12: Widow - 1st pet is a Night Widow, 2nd is a Fortunata
Level 18: ???
Level 26: Mu Guardian
Level 32: <???> Empowerment
Soldiers of Arachnos
Wolf Spider
Pummel

Heavy Burst
Bane Spider

I tried my best to follow the structure of other pet power availability and upgrade progression. Any ideas what the Empowerment could be called? Any ideas on the level 18 flavour ability? Or is the whole idea a little OP with so much Energy, Toxic & Psionic damage? -
Perhaps it's finally time for me to make a BS Scrapper...
Also - WOO! 7 years!
