Radon had gotten up to follow the others out, but fell behind when he spotted the gumball machine. Remembering what Celes had said about just coming to Earth he thought it might be fun to introduce her to bubble gum. He had just come out of the shop when he looked up ahead just in time to see a strange villain sink his scythe into Lord Raymond's arm. Deciding to take advantage of the element of surprise he began gathering power into his hands. Suddenly, the unknown attacker removed his weapon from Lord Raymond's shoulder and raised it toward Celes.
"DON'T TOUCH HER!!!" he shouted at the assailant as he unleashed a volley of protons into his back knocking him off his feet.
Using his super speed Radon dashed past him, scooped up Mended Ribs, and came to a stop between Celes and Lord Raymond. Without wasting a moment he bathed them in healing radiation and focused his powers to accelerate their metabolisms. By this time, creature had risen to its' feet and he got his first look at it.
"What the...?! Who are you supposed to be, the [censored] Grim Reaper?" he said as twin beams of x-rays were expelled from his eyes.
Seeing what the villain had done to Mended Ribs and Lord Raymond, Radon knew that this wasn't going to be an easy fight. Thinking they'd need every advantage they could get he used his abilities to refract the light around them, rendering them invisible to the naked eye.
"I know he'll find some way to attack but at least this way he won't be as accurate and that's better than nothing. Hopefully, all those shots of radiation have softened up his defenses too." he thought to himself as he launched a haze of electrons to knock their foe off his feet again.
(OOC: Like Sibling, my censor applies to people who enjoy the company of a member of the same sex.)

"Very well put Buck, although I agree with Raymond that you may be too hard on her. She's a soldier, trained to kill or be killed and it's only natural that she applies the same rules to crimefighting. Don't get me wrong I don't condone killing, but I also can't condemn her for her beliefs." Radon said as he lifted his mask above his mouth.
With a smile he took a lick of his ice cream cone. In an instant his grin faded into a frown.
"You wanted to know about my powers and my greatest fear right? It all started a while ago when I was a research assistant with the Paragon Health Department. I was part of a team researching the effects of different forms of radiation on living cells, don't worry we weren't using animals or anything. The department had got a hero named Egghead* to build them a chamber that could safely produce and contain different forms of radiation so we could perform our tests. One night while I was doing some OT, needed some extra cash, a small army of Fifth Column troops invaded the building. They said they wanted to use the chamber to experiment on their troops to give them superpowers. I tried to stop them, but they overpowered me and locked me inside. Their leader decided to use me for their first trial, unleashing everything the chamber had on me. Luckily, the security guard had been able to activate the silent alarm before they captured him and a superhero named Energyst* arrived just as they activated it. He blew through the Column like they were nothing and broke into the chamber to rescue me. Unfortunately doing so destabilized its' containment field causing it to go critical. Using his powers Energyst shielded my with his own protective energy field while he absorbed the force of the blast minimizing the damage to just the chamber as opposed a nuclear meltdown. When it was over he just made sure I was okay, gave me a few words of encouragement, and then he was off again to fight the good fight. I was exposed to a lethal dose of all kinds of radiation in that place, but somehow his energy combined them all and reversed their effects infusing me with their power. My costume is my own variation of his costume as a sort of tribute to him for saving my life that day. However with my newfound abilities came something else, the realization of the terrible forces at my command. What I experienced on the rooftop tonight was the culmination of all my fears and anxieties of harnessing the most dangerous and destructive forces on the planet. What I saw was a world of death and desolation, and all of it was caused by my own hands. My powers had grown beyond my control unleashing atomic blasts hundreds of times more powerful than any weapon known to man as well a mutated radioactive gas that's instantly fatal to all organic life. Outside of battle there isn't a second that goes by that I don't fear for the safety of those around me should I lose control for even a moment." he said, a somber tone to his voice.
There were a few moments of silence as Radon took a few more licks of his ice cream.
"So Celes, you're a half angel/half demon experiencing life on Earth for the first time? How cool is that?" he said, the smile returning to his face.
*Shameless Self Promotion -
"You...you did that...to me?!" Radon said as he turned to glare at Mended Ribs.
Suddenly his fist shot forward towards him stopping inches from his face. With a quick a flick of his finger he plucked him on the forehead.
"Let's try something else next time. Okay?" he said with a chuckle.
"So how's your first ice cream Celes?" Radon asked seemingly unphased by Alan's confession. -
"What is ice cream?" Radon thought to himself a smile starting to emerge on his face.
Something about Celes seemed to calm his mind, it may have been her similar personality but he couldn't tell. Shrugging it off he turned to her.
"Hi Celes, I'm Radon. Ice cream is the best dessert on this planet. It's hard to describe what it is exactly, but basically it's frozen milk churned up with a bunch of other ingredients to form a frozen treat. You haven't lived until you've tried it." he said after a quick bow as he introduced himself.
With a burst of speed he was inside the shop, holding the door open for everyone.
"Since it's your first time trying it, I'd suggest sticking with the basics. I prefer Vanilla, but Chocolate or Strawberry is also good, then if you like it you can "graduate" to more advanced flavors like Cookie Dough, Butter Pecan, or Rocky Road." he said starting to ramble.
(OOC: Just a minor note, I know I said Radon was shy around girls but after the mental shock he just suffered he's not in the right state of mind.) -
"S..sure. I...I guess...we...earned it." Radon said in response to Buck's offer.
His brain was buzzing making it so he couldn't think straight and he needed time to sort things out anyway. Strangely, even though the battle was over his aura never dissipated. As he moved to exit the rooftop he heard Mended Ribs say something about talking to Janice. He was so out of it that he wasn't even able to figure out who Janice was and just shrugged it off.
"L...lead...the way....uh....I...I didn't...get..y...your name." Radon stuttered as he reached the street and turned back towards Buck Shott. -
Radon rose to his feet seemingly fine and after looking around at some of the Trolls he realized the same thing that Buck had. The only difference was he wasn't willing to give up so easily.
"No...no one....dies...today. Get....get ready." he said as one after another several Trolls began to glow and rise from the ground.
Using his powers he had jumpstarted their bodies, healing their wounds and bringing them back from the brink of death. Even though he had just saved their lives he was somehow certain that they weren't about to express their gratitude. Not wasting a moment he quickly engulfed the resuscitated villains in a choking cloud of radioactive gas and leaving them helpless. Luckily only a few had sustained fatal wounds, so it would be an easy task of taking them down.
"Let's KO...these guys...and get..back to...the academy." Radon said as he began firing beams of radiation in rapid fire succession.
(OOC: Radon doesn't kill either and does his best not to let others kill as well. Just so you know I had him use Hasten to allow him to bend the game rules a bit and use Mutation repeatedly on the Trolls as well as let him quickly and continuously attack them. Hope that's okay.) -
"What in the h..." Radon said as he turned towards Mended Ribs and was suddenly enveloped in darkness.
As everything went black the aura surrounding him seemed to intensify. All of a sudden the gloom dissipated and he was back on the rooftop. Looking around he found that all the Trolls lay motionless before him.
"Wow, nice one Ribs. What was exactly did you....do?" he said as he turned around to find the others lying prone as well.
With more speed than even he knew he was capable of he was at their side. The sight that awaited him was more horrifying then he could ever imagine. Their faces were twisted in agony and their skin was a sickly shade of green. Quickly surveying the rooftop he could tell that the Trolls strewn about had the same affliction. This entire time his eyes had only been focused on the immediate vicinity, but as he looked away from the carnage around him the true extent of the atrocity that had been committed became evident. The only thing left standing in the entire zone was the building he was on.
"Dear Lord..." Radon said to himself as he took in the sheer devastation.
The force field that sealed off the area was shattered and the destruction continued on as far as he could see. Suddenly he spotted several forms emerging from the desolation. As they came closer he recognized them as some of the most powerful heroes in Paragon.
"Thank God you're here! What's going on?! What happened?!" he called as one of them landed nearby.
The hero was about to speak when he suddenly grasped his throat and fell to his knees gasping and choking. Radon quickly rushed to help him, but as soon as he touched him the sickness seemed to accelerate and he too collapsed never to move again. Suddenly he felt something swelling up inside and a moment later all he could see was a brilliant green glow. When it finally faded anything that had been left standing was gone, the Earth was scorched clean. The amount of destruction around him made the Sahara look like paradise.
"It...it was...it was....ME?!" he said mortified.
Before he even knew what was happening he was back standing in the same spot he was in when the darkness had encompassed him. Radon looked around to find the Trolls unconscious and the other heroes seemingly fine. Mended Ribs took a step towards him and he freaked out.
"No...NO...stay away!!! Everyone just stay away!!!" he said quickly backing away from him.
Completely overwhelmed by his terror and exhaustion he blacked out, hitting the ground pretty hard. -
(OOC: Are Mended Ribs' powers supposed to cause you see your greatest fear or just instill fear in you. I just wanted to make sure I understood the effects of his powers before I made a post.)
-
The onrushing Gaardvord's attack was abruptly cut short as twin beams of X-Ray radiation shot forth rendering him unconscious.
"You owe me one Ribs, make sure you keep an eye out for the ones that get up." Radon said as he healed his wounds and boosted his abilities.
As he turned around he spotted 3 Trollkins headed right for him. Without hesitation he leapt right into their midst and unleashed a cloud radioactive fumes, causing them to begin hacking and coughing unable to fight back. A few flashes of radiation and quick punches later all three were out of the fight. Before the last one fell, he was already off again towards the next group, all the while keeping an eye on his teammates healing and reinvigorating them, and himself, as they needed it.
"God I love my job!!!" he shouted as he let loose a burst of cosmic radiation on the enemies before him. -
"Um...uh...I..I'm gonna..go there now." Radon said after quickly shaking Mended Ribs' hand.
He was still freaked out about his newfound teammates persistent grin and was anxious to head out. Not waiting for a response he went intangible again and took off running at superhuman speed towards Eastgate. With the radiation coursing through his body augmenting his natural abilities it only took him a few minutes to reach his destination.
"Well now that I'm here I might as well get the lay of the land so I have some I idea of where I'm going when the others arrive." Radon thought to himself as he took his first steps into Eastgate.
He hadn't gone far when he heard the sound of gunfire and caught sight of an explosion atop a building. As he got closer he saw that two of the recruits he had seen back at the academy were engaged in battle with a rather large group of Trolls.
"Hmm, looks like those two could use a hand. I'd better hurry before they exhaust themselves." he said as ran up the side of the building towards the roof.
When Radon reached the top he became tangible again, once more engulfed in a glowing green aura. Leaping between the two battling heroes he focused his powers to heal their wounds and stimulate their bodies without any harmful side effects.
"Are you guys okay?" he said as he unleashed a haze of electrons on several approaching Trolls. -
"Um...yeah..it's a...a radioactive gas." Radon said growing increasingly more uncomfortable.
Although he didn't usually like to participate in activities with others, that he didn't have to, after his "demonstration" his urge to fight was too strong to resist.
"You said you're going to Eastgate? I...I guess I can go." Radon said hoping that now that Mended Ribs had a positive answer he'd move on to someone else. -
Just as Radon's aura faded one of the recruits walked right up to him.
"Hey, I'm Mended Ribs or Alan if you prefer. Who are you?" he said.
"My...my name's Radon. Pleased to meet you. he replied speaking barely above a whisper.
He was quite startled by Mended Ribs' boldness and was creeped out by the persistent smile on his face. The only thing keeping him from going intangible and making a run for it was his sense of etiquette. It was a good thing that his full mask concealed his features or the entire group would have seen the anxiety painted across his face. After a few moments of silence passed between them, Alan's gaze and unwavering grin became too unsettling and Radon spoke again.
"Um...uh...I don't mean to be rude or anything, but can I help you?" he said never looking directly at him for more than a few seconds at a time. -
Alex Hardy, more commonly known as the hero Radon, had been eating his meal alone when he noticed a group of his fellow recruits leaving the mess hall and heading for the firing range. Curious about the peculiar assortment of his peers he quickly finished his food, discarded his trash, and followed after them. It didn't take Radon long to catch up to the others, but as he approached them he became nervous and self-conscious instinctively hanging back and remaining unnoticed. From his vantage point he watched as several of the recruits demonstrated their abilities on the targets that had been set up on the range. All of a sudden the tall woman with them abruptly turned to leave, using his powers Radon quickly became intangible just as her gaze would have fallen upon him. He merely looked on as she ran off the field, followed shortly by two of the other heroes.
"I hope she's gonna be okay." he thought to himself as he noticed the tears running down her face.
Unfortunately for him, Corporal Punishment had dealt with all kinds of superbeings and, invisible or not, he was well aware of his presence. The corporal had actually been keeping an eye on Radon since he arrived at the academy and having taken note of his reclusive behavior was determined to do all he could to break him out of it.
"Recruit Radon, what the hell do you think you're looking at you little maggot?!" he bellowed, breaking the silence left in Sartain's wake.
Startled by the corporal's sudden outburst, Radon instantly became tangible again revealing himself to the assembly. Standing at only 5' 9" he definitely wasn't the most intimidating guy out there, but the radiation symbol blazened upon the chest of his green and black patterned costume was a testament to the potentially lethal power at his disposal.
"Well?! I asked you a question, you good for nothing waste of space!" Corporal Punished shouted when he received no answer.
"I just wanted to watch, Sir." Radon replied barely loud enough to hear.
"What did you say?! What are you one of those voyeuristic perverts or something?! Well today is your lucky day Son, you're gonna stop watching and start doing! Now get over there and take out those targets! the corporal yelled.
Never one to disobey orders, he quickly made his way over to the firing range. As he stood there facing the targets a glowing green aura began to encompass his body. As soon as it engulfed him, Radon's mannerisms suddenly changed. It was as if he went from scared stiff to ready for anything in an instant. Just then several targets began popping up across the course and no sooner had they emerged when they were blown apart by bolts of radiation. This continued for a few moments until the last target shot up from the ground. Radon simply looked at it and started to walk away.
"Where do you think YOU'RE going?! You don't leave until you finish what you started!" Corporal Punishment shouted at him.
"Well, since you put it that way..." Radon said as he stopped walking.
Without turning around he raised his right hand and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, the target and everything in the immediate vicinity was enveloped in a brilliant green flash that shook the ground beneath their feet. When the smoke and dust cleared all that remained was a smoldering crater where the target area once stood. As the dust had faded, so too had the aura surrounding Radon's person.
"Was that ok?" he asked quietly, staring down at his feet.
(OOC: Hello all, just a little info about my character. Radon is very shy, especially around girls, outside of combat, but as soon as he starts using his powers (signified by his battle aura) he shows a completely different side, becoming extremely confident and more than a little cocky.)
