Quote:Thank you, that was a reasonable explanation and much more effective way of explaining your views. Now considering what I use merits for, getting specific receipes at the lowest level possible, this route doesn't really work for me. [Though once I get all of the Luck of the Gambler +7.5% recharges at level 25 I want, it seems a pretty viable route]. Unfortunately I don't see 10 random spins on the IO table being worth the 200 million or so it takes to buy a LotG +7.5% at 25 though (Do you have any data to prove me wrong?)To give a simple to understand answer:
If you have 250 merits you can make 12 random rolls. If the pool you are rolling in has only 32 possible recipes in it the chances that you get the one you are looking for is good though certainly not assured. It's because your sample size is too small.
/snip
Currently everything in the game works well enough for me to equip all my toons (and mostly on red side at that) in the manner I like (From completely purpled out toons to simple red IO builds).
More tasks that forces you to take a random drop would likely help the markets, but I would not support people being forced to spend their merit in this matter. AE ticket rolls are a good start, another good addition would be the ability to buy random drops with Vanguard merits. -
Quote:No seriously, I would really like an answer. You now have the choice to educate me and perhaps turn me around to your point of view, thus making your arguements valid and perhaps turning another small portion of the player base around to your way of thinking. If you have to ask, you don't understand prob and stat, and are part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.
Or continue to be a ******. Your call. -
Quote:How is a player getting the exact receipe they want at the exact level they want a waste of their earned merits?
One of the probems with market supply is that people can (and do) WASTE 230 merits buying a single recipe. -
Quote:Boss hiss on this one, I rather liked not having to hit the damn prompt everytime.
Players may once again choose to not accept or decline the Mystic Fortune buff power. -
Quote:This is actually a prime plot point, and one of the reasons for the differences between the two worlds (Or is perhaps an effect of the differences between the two worlds)
Don't even get me started on how Praetorian Hamidon appeared several decades before Primal Hamidon. -
Quote:Half the point of the merit system was to allow players to work towards getting specific recipes without going through the markets. Horrible horrible awful idea.
3. Eliminate the option to purchase specific recipes with merits. -
And here I thought what you really wanted was a pony.
But fighting RtR would also be cool. -
Buffing my Night Widow, who is already ridiculously overpowered (In team wipes on the last mission of the Barracuda SF she is generally the only one left standing while everyone hosps out and comes back) would be silly.

The best Brute is The Oldest One, my 50 Fire/Fire Brute who is a delicate princess dammit.
'nuff said. -
I've never experienced a crash with the tailor in Issue 17, so apparently it isn't as major as you think.

I cannot currently claim items on the market. The "Post", "Get" and "Get Inf" buttons are permanently greyed out. I can claim sold items via the enter key, but I cannot claim any bought items or get back any stored items.
This may be linked with using the "Claim All Inf" button to try to get more items than the server can handle, getting the "Server is Busy Please Wait" message, but I'm not 100% if the bug came up before or after I used that option. -
Every issue you can be guaranteed one thing.
Someone will go crying to the forums that this is the buggiest release ever and "HOW DARE THEY?!!" release the game in this state.
Man if you think this is bad wait until the horrors that'll likely come with the Going Rogue relese. -
Someone once put together a mathematical arguement that Brutes do, on average, 3% more damage than scrappers.
So really the difference between the two isn't so wide. -
Oh God people, stop making suggestions. Oldest One (My Fire/Fire brute) is already awesome, don't convince Castle to nerf my poor half demon engine of destruction.

The "exodus to blue side" posts are always funny, especially when quoting the state of the redside market (I personally can buy everything I want I don't know what you people are doing wrong) considering your average player probably doesn't care about the state of the redside market...
This section of the forums is almost as funny as the PvP section, but with a little bit less spitting hate. -
A good solution for the random drop problem is have zone events, that cannot be initiated by player actions, drop a Pool C reciepe upon successful completion.
This includes things like Troll Raves*, Halloween Apocalypse Events, Even Rikti Raids or Zombie Invasions with some tooling. A random drop purchasable with Vangaurd Merits would even help a bit.
*some kinda auto exemplar feature when in the area of the raves would be necessary there -
Quote:I agree! No, human-form needs a basic amount of Mezz Protection. Their human inheirent is built around mezz protection, but it's uselessly small.
I *hate* having to take Dwarf form. It went totally against my human-form concept on one of my characters. Mutually exclusive powers are 'not fun'.
Also Defenders, Corruptors, Controllers, Blasters, Dominators, Masterminds need a basic amount of mez protection! They are unplayable without it!
Please note the irony there. Thank you -
Quote:I think they are both dead. Some of the characters who appear on the history plaques in Paragon City concerning the Might For Right Act and the Citizen Crime Fighting Act. Most of those heroes are dead as of game time (many died in the Rikti War), but seeing as we have this neat time travel device it would be interesting to go back in time and meet some of them.
Similarly for the characters who have statues all over the city, like Galaxy Girl or Talos. -
Very poor powerset, not necessarily because of your descriptions or ideas, but because it only works with one concept.
For example, Fire Blast could come from a variety of sources. Magical fire spells. Mutant incindiary powers. The ability to channel fire from the heart of the sun. Some kinda flame thrower.
A new powerset should work with most of, if not all, of the origins. -
My 50 brute and my 50 Defender will switch sides to get all the badges.
Other characters will switch sides depending on what I want to do at time. -
Quote:You have this option. it's called spending 20 merits for a random drop. Which the vast majority of TF's give you enough merits to do, except for the odd (3 or 4) that can be done in 15-20 minutes.
Reinstate the option of random recipe rolls in TFs and SFs along with the option to choose a merit rewards.. -
I have the same issue and I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 3870

Wow what a fantastic bunch of idea's. And a bunch of very cool looking screens too.
