Better rewards would make it (The Deadly Apocalypse) more popular whenever it pops up. Heck a random piece of halloween salvage would keep people doing it all year around, or perhaps a longer duration on the temp power buff you get.

Quote:Play the Barracuda Strike Force...you'll get your wish.
Overall I have been very happy, but COX still lacks being able to feel "super". I know some prefer the struggling superhero, but I don't, and I admit it has improved over five years ago. If I choose I want to be superman and take on 100 baddies. Yes I know at 40 I can go to low level areas and wipe greys all day long with no danger, that's not what I mean -
-
In my opinion, PvP could be completely removed from this game and the vast majority of the player base would not notice, and likely a small percentage would applaud it's removal. So I very much doubt improved PvP is important for the future of this game at all.

Shame I live in Canada, though in all fairness, "The Box with a Red Light" concept probably wouldn't cut the mustard.
-
My only full conversion is my brute to a Hero, and that'll change once she gets all the badgs. Most other characters are going Rogue and staying there.

At level 20+ defeat enemies until a "tip" drops. In the contact menu, under the tips tab, select the mission and run it. You can do 5 tips in one day.
once you've done 10 Rogue tip missions, you get a morality mission, that turns your alignment from Villian to Rogue. And you can access Paragon City. -
Deal with his reservations in character, it is a perfectly valid RP choice for his character to distrust Stalkers in general, all your character can do is to teach him better IC.

Kinda like comparing apples and oranges and my opinion is completely biased as I completely hate Dark Melee, other people seem to make it work though.

Quote:IO's have very little effect on Shield Charges damage, which is what was changed. IO's can help you get shield charge up more often, but other than a few damage bonuses (not really worth slotting for imo) these do not affect Shield Charge very much.
I havent played mine yet (busy with GR) but i cant asy i agree with the nerf. Ill tell you why.
The game is suppose to be balanced around SO's. IF that is the case, then why nerf powers (not just SD) because IO's make them stronger? Isn't that the point of IO's? Especially purples, since they offer such big gains in %'s.
I think the DEVS need to take in alot more consideration of the effects of IO's and instead of nerfing everything AFTER the time and money is spent on them and make the weaker from the start of just let them be. If the game is truely based around SO's, then accept the fact that IO's are goning to make toons stronger. If people don't want to IO toons, then they shouldn't complain about powers being "overpowered" because that's teh whole point of IO's. (IMO)
Shields is very good under IO powers because it is easy to soft cap, this has very little to do with Shield Charge. Notice how the Defensive values of Shields wasn't changed at all?
So logic says, Shield Charge wasn't changed because of IO sets. -
That wasn't a question.
You should try things like:
Why can't I log onto the Freedom server?
What is a queue?
How many people have to be playing on a server for there to be a waiting list?
How do I cancel my subscription?
How can I make money to replace the money I spent on Going Rogue?
ect ect -
Maybe this means a Samurai-ko Teaser trailer soon...

Thanks for the offer Schis but it's really not hard for me to put together a TF on Virtue, so honestly, I'm not crying about the experience too much. I'm really amazed anyone would show that much lack of etiquette.
I just wanted to state again how cool the rest of the team were to support me, I wish I could remember their names beyond Lord Voltaic on Virtue so I could sing their praises.
Quote:The two were actually in the SG Yes we PVP I believe. So yeah, PVP'ers <_<. Of course I don't think this reflects the PvP community as a whole. Alot of you guys are alright, I just keep running into the bad ones.Better than you are?
It's not PvP, it's cooperative PvE. Someone didn't even know what game they were playing.
Quote:You probably should have asked for the star back after he invited his buddy. -
So it's Saturday and I decide that my Dominator needs a few more levels (Only two more levels until 50 IO sets) and a fun way to get these would be to do a Task Force. I decided I don't want to put the work into putting together the right team for Imperius, so Lady Grey it is.
Now since my character is 45, after getting together a team I pass the star off to a 50, a Scrapper whom I picked up after advertising in broadcast. The 50 Scrapper also invited one of his buddies to round off the team to 8.
So the Scrappers immediately begin rushing ahead of the team without waiting for anyone. Okay fine enough, some people play like that, this isn't a Master attempt and as long as they can handle their own, they can go as nuts as they like. Then I notice that they aren't killing the entire mobs before moving on (we aren't doing a speed run) they are leaving the boss and lieutenants alive then rushing to the next spawn. This leaves my dominator in a pinch when I get locked down by two Rikti bosses.
I suggest that if they want to run ahead, that's fine, but they should clean up any mob they aggro before moving on.
The Scrapper I handed the star off to tells me; "That isn't my job."
The Scrappers other scrapper friend then tells me; "Less qq more pew pew" (I don't even know what this means)
I find myself longing for the kick button. I'm actually rather tempted to quit right there (I should have it would have saved me about 2 hours of annoyance). But since things are going fast enough and their odd playstyle isn't really getting anyone killed but me once or twice, I let it go in the hopes of getting a few levels.
Now several of the players haven't done this before, so I'm giving advice as we go. "Try not to free Penny until the Rikti are clear of the room. Clockwork will ambush us here, try to stay together, deal with Famine before war" ect ect. For this Other Scrapper continues with his "Less qq more pew pew" statement several times, I guess because he doesn't like being told what to do. He goes on ignore and things are acceptable in the TF for a while.
Then we come to the Hamidon mission. And this is a pretty hard encounter for people who don't know how to do it. So I give lots of instructions as we go (Please attack my target, everyone move in, everyout out and regroup, switch targets ect ect). There are alot of deaths as we go, and the mission takes awhile. There is some playful banter as we go, the team Leader says at one point he's going to kick me if he dies one more time. I didn't think anything of it at the time. A joke goes around not too, since we won't be able to complete the mission without my dom holding the Green Mitsos.
Mission completely, that was hard but we finally did it! Now onto the last...hey why aren't I on the team anymore? Did I leave the War Zone...no...still here..that means....oh the team leader kicked me.
He kicked me from the TF I organized, that I willingly gave him the star for, that I coached through the mini-Hamidon raid. He tells me in broadcast that I shouldn't tell people what to do and he knows how to play the game. I try to explain there are some people who haven't done this before and needed the guidance. Then I get told that though I've played longer he'll always be better than I am.
on the plus side, half of the team sympathy quit right there and then, great bunch of players that they were. I REALLY made the wrong choice of who to give the star to. But I did get my two levels out of the experience atleast.
Just needed to get some of my frustrations out there on this one. In the future, I'm going to be much more careful about who I invite to a PUG TF. -
I like your theory, though I'm pretty sure Rularuu is "just" a random Space God wandering through the dimensions.

While some people might not like the flavor of CoV Story, it is a consistent storyline from level 1 to 50, which City of Heroes does not have. And the story makes sense. As a little Level 1 Villian yes, you are not very powerful compared to the major players in the story, but as time passes you become stronger and stronger until you exceed Recluse himself. Unfortunately for that story, at that point the story ends, so you have a difficult time seeing that you are now a powerful figure beyond the powers of Archanos.
Seriously, if you want your Villian to be ultra powerful from level 1 at the beginning of their career with no need to sacrifice anything for that...well we call that a "Mary Sue" in the roleplaying world... -
Quote:I do use the Burn/Immob trick once I get into the epic levels (at that point burn does AMAZING damage rather than just decent)You are wrong about Fire Aura. Without an Immobile or team mate, it is impossible for Burn to do decent damage. Your claim Burn is good for mitigation is also silly and seemingly and attempt to take something good from a piece of crap.
Now admittedly, it's reasonable that you've had a different experience with Burn than I have. That's okay, diversity is the spice of life. But to say my experience with the power is impossible or silly? That isn't very good debate. But despite this, I'll take a moment to explain exactly how I find Burn useful.
1. Mitigation - This is admittedly what I use Burn the least for, but I find it extremely useful to plop down when I need to squeak out five more seconds until my heal recharges. Enemy takes damage, enemy runs away for about 4 seconds, enemy runs back. If you can't understand the use of an enemy spending 4 seconds not attacking you, not causing damage to you, not debuffing you AND suffering damage, I suppose I'll never be able to convince you of anything. And now take note that this happens to every enemy surrounding you.
2. Damage. I'm at work atm, so I unfortunately can't quote any numbers to you, which means I can't truly prove anything. And I suppose it depends on what you consider decent but I'll give it a try. When facing a crowd on my brute, I unlease my PBoE attacks upon them, and then if anything if left alive, I give them a good shot of burn to keep them distracted while I wait for those to recharge. Enemies run out of the fire, then RUN BACK IN. So anyone who wants to attack me in Melee has to be taking the burn damage. Further more, Burn has an insanely high accuracy. It's practically autohit and the only thing I find it misses on is an AV in MoG mode. So you have Nemesis with Vengeance double stacked, the answer is Burn. Got two Tsoo Sorcerrors beside you with Hurricane and Darkest Night debuffing your ACC. Burn will either kill them or make them run away, letting you get back to hitting Yellow Ink Men in the face.
Now I was never there before the Burn nerf, but I appreciate the power for what it does now, with minimum slot investment. You don't like the power? That's okay, I won't touch Tough and Weave with a 10 foot pole, we all have our quirks. -
Sure you should! The game is loads of fun and with Going Rogue around the corner it should get even better. Apparently some of Going Rogue is new End Game content. Okay sure PvP is a joke but there's plenty to do otherwise. Welcome back and hope you have fun.

I've got to admit that personally, I am in love with the new market interface. Not really here to contribute much to the conversation, but in case whoever made the new interface is reading this thread crying into his/her beard, I thought he/she deserved some love.
Thanks for the new market, here's a rainbow.

You can't give tankers any kind of bonus to resistance/defense without making them unkillable. As it is, a tanker player right is already almost nigh unkillable. Any bonus to their inherent would have to be to improve soloing damage and the AT would play just fine.
You are frankly just wrong about Dominators. Now you may not like Dominators, that is a valid opinion. But that doesn't mean they are a weak AT under any circumstances. I don't like playing Controllers, but I admit they are a vey good AT. Remember, just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that something is bad.
I still think Fire Aura is a good set, when you take Shield Defense out of the picture and even then the two almost stack up, atleast on paper. Against All Odds gives a comparable +dam bonus to Fiery Embrace (One is always on, costs end to maintain and isn't as good against fewer enemies, while the other has a short recharge time, lasts 30 seconds and gives the same bonus in all situations). Burn is both decent damage AND damage mitigation. Y'know those guys running from the burn patch, they ain't attacking you or your teammates at this time. And keep in mind Shield Charge has a miscalculated damage modifier. It'll get it's nerf soon enough. (Their performance on IO's is a completely different matter, though I stand by my awesome Fire/Fire brute)
Can't comment on Energy Melee or Energy Aura. Never played either. But honestly, the "Waah do this immediately or I'll quit" attitude doesn't help. Or the "I don't play because of these issues" attitude...hey if you don't play anymore why do you care? -
Dark Armor doesn't suck, I just hate it. I played a Fire/Dark scrapper to 44 before I realized just how much I hated the set, always out of endurance, squishy the moment anything resists my mezzes. The only way I could imagine it being really playable would be to match it with Dark Melee (or maybe electric) but then I hate Dark Melee even more.
So into the trash heap my scrapper goes....goodbye Void Star, it was fun (Edit: No not really) but I've found a new love in Spines/Electric. -
Praetoria looks very nice.
