* Incorrect tab no longer appears in Empowerment Stations

I take it this means you can no longer create lvl 10 Hammi-Os?

* Lowered Empowerment Station recipe requirements. (Known Issue: requirements for recipes on Tech Empowerment Stations were not reduced. This is a bug and will be fixed in a later patch.)
[/ QUOTE ]
First off, the recipes for the Empowerment Buffs don't show unless you have the components for them. Not a huge deal, but might be good later on if there are more intricate recipes that require a broader variety. It'd be good to know which things I need.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought that was an option? Has it changed with yesterdays patch? -

we need to get something out of destroying objects be it little xp (even if its very little), or even more time this would be at least something. (as it stands right now we only get extra time for not getting caught ( by beating the good guys up not for destroying objects).
[/ QUOTE ]
The very first thing I did on my very first mayhem mission was destroy a bus shelter for which I got a time bonus of 1 minute. Perhaps some of the Longbow agents were coming by bus?
Destroying other objects typically gained me an extra 30 seconds. -
First Impressions
I did my first mayhem mission yesterday with a lvl 16 SS/Energy Brute and found them to be an ode to the simple joy of breaking things. Cool.
The mission took place in Kingsrow so I was a little surprised that I didn't recognise it straight away. I think it would be cooler if you spawned near a recognisable KR landmark. Like the cafe tables or the CoT underpass.
I also found the PPD to be a little off putting. They tended to reminded me that I wasn't in Heroes' KR I was in Villains KR. They also looked like Mooks.
The toughest part of the mission seems to be the first few moments on entering the bank. Tons of security and an immediate spawn of Longbow. Is that intentional?
A good side effect of the mission is that I emptied my Insp tray. I burned them up so I could eek out the maximum mayhem out of my time. Burning greens so I could turn my toggles off and have more end. Very good.
The temp power I got on completion (2 hrs worth of Super Jump) was just icing. -

Tech podium, hologram, and banner.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice picture.
But Podiums: How tall do you have to be? My character is only 6' (which makes her smaller than average in Paragon city) but she can't see over the edge of the podium if she stands in it properly.
I know these things are just for decoration but at the same time we should do our best to encourage the use of bases for socialising. -
[ QUOTE ]
Some logos don't look so good on the banners because of the way their colors work. It'd be nice to have some versions of the banners that put all parts of the logo in the first SG color, and just use the second color for the background.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. I was going to make the same suggestion. My SG uses the Justice Scales logo and in most of the banners half the logo is not visible. -

I used to be pretty reasonable on this subject, back when it was being discussed on the Tanker forums.

No it appears that he is complaining that he doesn't want to play to the world background. I can understand that, and COH has more freedom to ignore the world story in that regard.
[/ QUOTE ]
When CoV started you had exactly one starting contact, and that was to follow Recluse.
Now there's two Recluse's Kalinda and the more mercenary path.
It's possible, and this is what I'd be begging, hollering and yelling for, an extension of what they already started which would be an alternate, non-Arachnos aligned means of getting 40+ powers (hopefully the Epic sets).
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. If you take the non-Arachnos approach at the start it would be nice to continue that at the end. -

You know how Tankers tend to complain that they often don't get anything from the Devs

I didn't realise how often I referenced your site until it was no longer there. -

So, I've been reading around the tanker forums, get a grasp on how things will be. And I've stumbled upon a couple of sayings that there will be no more detoggling.
First, I was wondering if this was true.
Second, I was wondering if it was just Brawl, or all of them.
And third, if it is true, I think its a huge problem. The only way I can beat a BRUTE is through detoggling him. And I detoggle him through Brawl. Wait until Unyielding or wahtever hes using goes down, then hit him with IS. All toggles go down, I pummel him to death.
Granted, this is a huge OK for all tanks, because this is your biggest weak point. But its also the way for many AT's to beat you, and they cant without it.
And although tanks damage isnt te best (Aside from SS), it still can kill quite a few AT's, Brute vs. Tank would be tough. But Tanks still can dish out some insane damage with PVP specced.
[/ QUOTE ]
Detoggling isn't going away. But, it is being reigned in by a large margin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Detoggling is a kludge. Its another one of those strange mechanics that becomes more important in and of itself than the powers we use to create our characters.
It should be difficult but not impossible to overcome toggles using our powers, not strange mechanics. -

who remembers "HR Puffnstuff"

The original strategy guide was essentially based on a design document. So it contains details on a number of events - particularly trials - that were never actually implemented, such as the Faultline Dam trial.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Dam trial was playable for a very short period. I never did it myself but I believe part of the requirement was for a team between a certain level in the same SG.
The trial itself was said to be rather buggy and involved Freaks attacking various objectives in attack waves. This technology was later transfered to the Respec Trial. -

As I recall, Positron took control of one of the Rikti commanders and was actively trying to kill as many heroes as he could!
[/ QUOTE ]
During the Rikti invasion at least one of the Devs was spawning as a Rikti Mentalist EXCEPT that while he/she had the powers of a Rikti Boss they used their mind powers so that when you targeted them it said lvl 7 Blaster and the target color was blue.
During the invasion the Rikti targeted the hospitals to try and stop the heroes from respawning. Gosh! Mobs using sensible tactics! OMG! -

I've been playing COH for a year now and reading the boards but haven't made too many posts. I'm wondering what people think of the MMO's if you look at them from the perspective of a popular culture phenomenon. I see a return in many ways to D&D type scenarios with COH/COV, in that people can communicate with one another. Unlike the console based RPG's like Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc on Nintendo, Playstation, and XBOx (the non-online versions). Is this a good thing or does it mean that the genre has been co-opted by mainstream tourists? What do you think?
[/ QUOTE ]
As some one that still role-plays regularly* I frequently see the Role-Play tag added to games but have yet to see anything that truely deserves the title.
The software developers have co-opted the title but now use it to mean something different.
* two, three times a year, thats regular. Right?
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree. It's means the exact same thing as the rule books for those various "RPG" games everyone knows. D&D, GURPS, Shadowrun... they are all sets of rules that you can role play an adventure within, but you don't have too.
You as the player can decide for yourself whether you want to be a fighter fighting an orc saying" Taste my steel foul creature of darkness!" while seated around a table with your gaming buddies, or you can be in the same situation and say "I'm gonna fight that orc, what dice should I roll?"
Online RPG's work in the same way. Are you going to run up to a MOB and furiously mashing keys while making your avatar scream "Have at thee!" or are you going to be in group chat talking about the movie you saw last night?
There is not much of a diference. No, these games ARE RPG's, people just choose not to play them as such.
Don't blame the game... blame the players.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I see this game as closer to those Fighting Fantasy books than true role playing.
This game (as good as it is) does not give you true freedom of choice. Your options are limited. The game gives us a medium where we can act in character (which we do) but thats as far as it goes.
Plus in all the very many story arcs I have done I have not yet been required to actually work out a single clue. Each mission is a linear track.
Is is true that you can decide to fight the orc or chat with your friends but the difference is that there are no consequences to any of our choices. That orc is "frozen" waiting for us to pick up from where we left off. -

Suppression isn't going away - deal with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am. I am letting the Devs know that I think its an extremely bad game mechanic and they need to come up with something better.
And for the record "X isn't going away - deal with it" has been said about many things (sometimes even by the Devs) that have subsequently gone away or happened.
Things like:
Unyielding Stance
Melee Attacks working on running mobs
Stand alone character generator lol
There are others too, I am sure. -

Travel supression was patched in to prevent a tactic called kiting or jousting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. From PMs:
Me:

1.) Am I correct that the purpose of travel power suppression is to inhibit the practice of jousting?
3.) If so, then why is it still possible to joust with Speed Boost and other similiar powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman:
[ QUOTE ]
1. No. They're meant to eliminate issues in PvE.
3. Because jousting wasn't the reason for the change.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
I've heard that before and I don't believe it (Statesman that is, not you). The reason I don't believe it is this:
1) I've not encountered any PvE exploit using travel powers. I am aware of the benefits from Jousting but not anything that could be classed as an exploit.
2) Other Devs (Geko, I think) made posts about fly, super speed etc being Travel powers not combat powers. That was the first we had heard of it and always thought of them as combat powers up till that point. The manual calls the Advanced Movement powers IIRC.
3) There was an awful lot of moaning about jousting in the arenas but no moaning about jousting in PvE.
Now just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean its not there BUT it does make it a rare problem if it exists. If they added suppression just for this rare problem? Well that doesn't seem very sensible. It was and is still very unpopular.
So I am afraid it is my belief that suppression was added to solve the PvP issues and the PvE issues have been used for "spin"
If Jousting is not the issue then the problem must reside in mob AI. Therefore the better solution would be to address mob AI rather than add an extremely unpopular and genre-busting mechanic to movement powers. -
WARNING: SIDE TOPIC
Just thought I'd mention Robot Rally. If you like board games and see Robot Rally I suggest you buy it. I also note they've just bought out a repackaged version of the game. -

I was actually introduced to the WoD (never PnP'd in my life) through the first VtM game, and was gently enamored of the premise. It seems like their priority is protecting the integrity of the property, aborted TV series notwithstanding.

I think the most important thing we should be getting across to the Devs is this:
This is a super hero game and aerial combat is a big part of the genre and should be part of the game. Its not. That alone should be worth your investigation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Something like this perhaps ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice picture but not what I was thinking of, no.
The only really decent aerial combat I've ever had in this game was against some CoT in Fault Line when my party got a bit separated. That was cool. -
