Just completed the Twinshot Field Analyst mission. Not happy! I'm doing a mission with Grym, I'm a support character(ish) and because of that I've kept him on full health but suddenly the game requuires him to be hurt and turn off! So he drops to 25% and stops reacting! Not only that but because he stays targetable you continue to try and heal him even though it has no effect. Very annoying.
However wrote that mission doesn't play support characters. -
Level doesn't exist outside of an abstracted game mechanic. One of the few things I like about the new tutorial is that signature characters are in it, fighting the same things you are. You are just as powerful as them at level 1.
Plus the arc is obviously designed as 7 mini-arcs covering a range of levels. This game isn't designed for level 50s. Its designed for the journey to 50. -
On a similar theme:
How about you talk to the relief worker to sign up for charity work, then the next time you log in with a different character on the same server: the phasing technology is used so that your original character appears as one of the heroes talking to the crowd of citizens?
Totally pointless but you'd get to have tow of your characters side by side -
Quote:Are you familiar with Stack Exchange? I was thinking of a rating system like they use. Mostly people only rate things they like (you rate them up or down) but rating them down causes a slight lowing of your own rating. It seems to work very well and prevents troll 1 star drive-bys. Obviously you need to have an authors rating system as well that runs along side story arc rating. You don't directly rate individuals though.Ehh... I'd be a bit wary about this. Say, the first two are fine, third starts affecting it unless you give it time to "roll off" or something.
Or maybe something like Cube Points? -
This was complained about a lot during Beta. I think its unfortunate myself. CoX put some effort into a system that prevented mobs appearing in the sight of players, which was very good. But this has been turned off and called "new tech" for Freedom. Unfortunately it means that in a lot of places (such as rescuing citizens from Skulls) you get them phasing in on top of you. I consider this a retrograde step.
It also seems to break on occasions as well and I have had a couple of times now where mobs simply won't appear at all. Although its only happened on the Red side for me.
Worst of both worlds imo -

My hope is that once the Coming Storm arc has been addressed this will be replaced by something better.
Until then I shall skip it. -
I was about to suggest moving this to the technical forum but then I realised we don't have one any more
Still, you might have better luck in the general forum -
Rather than Roulette I think the maps should just rotate. So after you've done Peregrine Island the next one you get (after 3 normal missions) is Atlas Park, then Kingsrow etc etc.
My guess is that it could be done without any new code (insert standard code rant) although the missions would have to be new ones because I guess they'd have to change the villain types for lvl 50 compatibility. -

Quote:Agree. I'd like to see a Reputation system where you can vote things up and down. However voting things down has a negative impact on your own reputation, so you wouldn't do it often. The stars need to be done away with, though. Just a simple Like/Dislike.
Also could we not call them farms, how about having a category called "Combat Missions"? A category for people that want to make tough missions without extensive story content. -

<Sphinx>
Story is more important than cannon.
But the best stories respect cannon.

I'd go for Rom-Com.
It would involve the hero (me) dating a string of highly attractive but ultimately unsuitable ladies until after a series of improbably coincidences he meets the perfect partner. As a running-gag the hero would have an addiction for all things super hero and we would see many of the ladies dressed as heroines from major comic book franchises.
What? Much as I like action movies I don't want to be shot at -
Quote:This game doesn't really have "end game content".Alrighty, I'm new and I'm hanging around CoH a heck of a lot lately.
One thing I've noticed is that there's only 50 character levels, for an MMO that's 7 years old that's.... not very much
So, considering the max level is so low, what's the end game content like and how long will it keep you busy for? As it's one area almost every past MMORPG I have played has let me down in.
The real content in this game is the different power and AT combinations. Which is very very good -
*runs up to plainguy's drone*
*hits it with a rolled up newspaper*
BANG!
I'm sorry those things just cause an irrational hatred in me!

Oh no! I am an NPC! -
A much requested item for bases. Possibly just behind off line SG invites and recipe storage.

I like the cut scene.
And No, that is not the reason!
Okay, maybe it is
ps: I imagine its a tech thing and they are using badges to check for BAF newbies, therefore character based not account based flag. -
Quote:YOU WILL PLAY THE GAME THE WAY I TELL YOU!In last week's marathon Ustream chat, someone (Posi?) said that even if they implemented offline supergroup invitations, it would be limited to characters not on your account.
*cough*
Sorry
Seriously though, that its such a popular and perennial suggestion shows that in this case he is (respectfully) wrong.

Quote:Thats how I felt after playing the arc and much preferred to the existing low level red content. Had we been given the option to fight "that character at the end" I would have been happier though.Incidentally, I didn't feel the arc was forcing me into the pigeonhole of being a shallow opportunist myself. I thought it left a door open to being a crafty opportunist interested less in "hitting it big" and more in playing along to expose what was going on. It didn't specifically address whether I was forced into cooperating with Arachnos, or was willing to play along with them as well to keep the game in motion. I did tell them to stuff themselves at the end, the option of which I thought allowed me to assert that I wasn't serving Graves and I wasn't serving Arachnos either, I was just trying to expose what each was up to for my own purposes.

Quote:The early missions were not 10 years old since they had been revamped over time and had some very nice custom maps etc etc. Now we get one new mission (which is quite good) to do again and again and again and again. Plus the option of the Twinshot arc.I find it hard to believe that people are lamenting the loss of the old contacts -- were any of those really worth playing through in 2011? What I think is not more than 1% of the gaming populace even ran those contacts -- instead they joined a sewer team to level up quickly, or an AE team to level up even more quickly. Because, frankly, the first dozen levels or so were a terrible introduction to the game if you tried to run through the ten-year-old contact system, and people have been complaining about that fact for years.
I am already skipping the tutorial and head to Kingsrow as soon as possible. -
Quote:Actually it was Atlas. My group has started a host of new characters recently and this is a consistent problem. Along with difficulty finding the side missions due to lack of a mission marker.I am guessing it was a Brickstown mayhem. This map has notoriously been buggy and it isn't even the biggest mayhem map.
We did both Atlas and Kingsrow safeguards last night and had problems in both. -
Quote:I think they only credited him as "Doctor Who" for Time & the Rani *spit* Could be wrong.I think 'Doctor Who' was also used for Sylvester McCoy's Doctor.
But in the next episode Paradice Towers *spit* they went back to "The Doctor"
Just want to add that despite the above episodes I am a McCoy fan
