Interesting, I'd noticed those settings, but never new what they were for...particularly what I was thinking, 'WHAT web page?'
Are there any plans to include info about the settings and what they'll eventually mean in-game? I don't know what the percentages might be, but I believe the number of players who visit the forums to see this kinda thing is small compared to the total playerbase...so I'm afraid if there wasn't some way for people to find out about all this in-game people aren't going to know about it. Which could cause privacy concerns and so forth.
Early to answer the above perhaps, but if such isn't planned already, I'd like to suggest it--a 'mini-tutorial' or whatever, or at the very least some kind of pop-up that comes up once for every character (and hopefully ONLY once for every character, if that's possible). -
The 10th, eh? Should be after the next Tanker Tuesday event then...I'll be sure to rack up some debt during Total Tanker Teamage
-
Sounds cool, all the way around. Still vague on the details there, though I suspect that's partly because things aren't fully known/fully planned out anyway. I do find the idea of new expansions (City of Vigilantes or whatever) is exciting...though I confess I hope the expansion(s) won't be 'expans-alone' as somebody coined. I'd much rather it or they be integrated fully with CoH and CoV. Let heroes and villains go to whatever new area! Fight alongside the denizens and each other! Get NEW CONTENT that existing heroes and villains can enjoy

I'm not totally sure I'll notice the difference yet
Still, sounds like a good deal mostly. Now, let's talk about raising the number of character slots per server to, oh, let's shoot for 20...

Personally, I don't think, and hope, that freespecs will still be given out the 'normal' way...I'd honestly be surprised if a free one wasn't given out with I11, if nothing else so people can rebuild their brand-new dual blade and/or willpower characters.
I dunno, I like the respec recipe idea. Hopefully the things aren't TOO rare when they start appearing (since I'm not sure they're even dropping yet on test, I've yet to hear of someone getting one). I know I usually wind up respec'ing my characters at least three times during their 'lifetimes', I've enough veteran respecs for that, but it'd be nice to have an additional outlet for respecs -
I doubt I qualify as a 'community leader' so I won't darken your inbox
The weirdo contingent is well represented anyway even without me. I have however met you a number of times on various characters (the endless Rikti raid on test when Talos Island was under attack for HOURS non-stop comes to mind), and you've always impressed me with your professionalism and being a general all-round fun guy.
So, congrats on the anniversary! Is a one-year anniversary the 'paper anniversary'? So we should shower you with wads of paper? -
Full.
Of.
WIN!
Oo lordy...even if I do hope battleaxe, which wasn't mentioned, will be customizable tooNot that there's a thing wrong with my trusty mystic axe, but the ability to make it more amazing would be killer. Wonder if 'silly' choices are among the possibilities? Okay, so maybe it wouldn't/shouldn't be possible to turn the axe into a Stratocaster, but...
Way to sneak in hints about Flashback, definitely something that's been requested for ages! Wow, so my 'too old to do the arcs' characters will be able to go through Faultline, that I do like. -
I do think the swords are plainer than they might've been, and Willpower looks a bit like a cross between Regeneration and the revamped Sonic shields to me...still, from what I can see, I could work with both of them. I'll reserve judgment until I can try them out
-
I agree with what some have said...sit back, take a break, come back and fight the good fight again when you're rested. I can understand the discouragement, for sure...but I think ice melee COULD be such a cool set, it needs champions. Unfortunately I'm not qualified, I don't think, especially compared to the ottergal

The Nemesis theories are also VERY interesting, and here's another thought: Anyone think the newspaper mistakes seem too obvious? Think it's a possible code?
So far, we have the mistake with WINDOW - WIDOW = N.
Also: VIGILANTE when it should be VIGILANT = E
The only other mistakes I found are run together words: "ZonesSome" and "theyare". Perhaps they are just typos after all, but hiding a code like this is one of the oldest tricks in the book. If I had more time, I'd check all the contact names for mistakes!
[/ QUOTE ]
Thought of that. Unfortunately, check now, and the newspaper article has been corrected, the typos aren't there anymore. I suspect the typos were just that, typos...to quote Freud, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar -
So long and thanks for all the fish, Arctic Sun! Have fun working on the Marvel MMO!
Hey, if HE can cause some baseless speculation... -

Hmm... I heard the game was just "meh", what's the source of the discontent?

The hype I fear.
Richard Garriott's newest title promises to break the MMO mold and chart a new direction for the future of gaming!
It's a game. There is some new stuff but honestly, I don't think the tech exists yet to do what the hype promised.

Yeah, admittedly I haven't been in beta (closed or open either one) half as long as Athyna...but really, in a lot of ways? It's running around with guns, grinding by shooting bugs, and zapping things with your magic--excuse me, Logos--powers. Been done, heck, I was in a game like that for too long...called Star Wars Galaxies. Don't get me wrong, I see possibilities with it, but really I don't see much 'new' here. The Logos system is even a retread of lots of other games, instead of going around killing monsters to fuel your magic powers (hey, at least I've stopped calling them Jedi powers), you're going to these 'shrines' and copying 'logos' into your 'tabula'. Really, I fail to see the 'breaking the MMO mold' or the 'new direction'...it's fun where it's not totally frustrating, but new? Not really. Heck, there's even the tanker/healer/buffer/DPS system in the character classes.
Ah well. Anyway. Put me in the camp of preferring to have the devs working on CoX instead of posting, if it comes to a choice -

Yes, in the next patch, Positron and Valkyrie, instead of standing around oblivious as the city crumbles around them, will now run away making scared girly noises like the useless idiots they are. :P

Glad to see that this issue is being looked at. And glad to know that what I did is exactly what is recommended, I ignored, global-ignored, and sent a petition with name and global name to make sure the activity was known about
Might I suggest something in the 'message of the day' to make sure others know about this process, and/or something in the help files in-game? The more people know that there's something that they can do to help, the more help can be given.

That's good. It's not so bad for my tankers...some of my characters, my controllers and defenders for instance, it's hard to function in all that lag, effectively
Trying to even see when somebody's health was going down, much less heal them, was ridiculous--I wound up on my illusions/rad just setting healing aura on auto and hoping for the best. Less lag would be muchly pleasing!

I'd just like to say that I would LOVE to see the Battle Axe and War Mace sets made available for Scrappers, and I don't see any reason why Dark Armor couldn't be made available to Tanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Inclined to agree (though the tanker in me says, 'Scrappers would really WANT the rubber mallet?!').
I'm surprised electric melee and electric armor didn't get included, personally, though the idea of brand new, never-seen powers sounds even better to me. -
Nice beginning! Though I noticed some proofreading might be in order...it immediately stood out to me that Hertz was 'staff writter'. I liked what I saw, all the same.
Wonder what I might be able to contribute, hmm... -

Seconded, 'Da Buildmastah' or something. Great job as always, SP! -
Yeah, I think the warning was more than fair...and treated by some crazy people like me as a challenge. Happy Bunny was going from Pocket D instance to instance, fighting Ghost Widow (an NPC AV version, at least) on the dance floor here, taking on Eochai, Jack in Irons, and all on the ski slopes of another instance, fighting Winter Lords in yet another instance...I had a blast. And got to the debt cap from too bloody many Kronos Titans in one place, but who cares, debt's transitory (heck, I was out of debt again after a few missions), it was still an epic battle that made my video card scream in pain from all that was going on (I recall joking that I hadn't seen my character in a good ten minutes for all the power effects firing), but still...was a whole lotta fun.

No, he's *mostly* dead.
/end Princess Bride -
I don't know if it's a 'top' issue, but for months now, seemingly at random, myself and people I've talked to on Pinnacle (perhaps other servers, I don't know for sure there) have had an issue where on leaving a mission, all toggles drop, up to and including sprint. Which can be a mess if you're a tanker and you're loading into a zone where baddies are waiting outside, or you get an after-mission ambush, and perhaps don't even notice that the armors you're always wearing have disappeared. This has caused a few deaths for me.
-
Yeah, I'm wondering if it was an AI thing. I created a brand new Ice/EM tanker last night, and in missions I've done before on other characters, the mob behavior seemed...odd. Lots of Hellions in one mission were doing the boombox emote, for instance (certainly made it easy to find them, I must say). And lots of runners trying to lead me further into the mission, and thus into traps. I'm used to that happening sometimes, but for one mission it was literally every mob, pre-frozen aura at least. I'd chip 'em down in health, and they'd decide to take off. In one case, I knocked out one from a set of three, knocked the second down to a sliver of health, and both he and his *untouched* remaining partner headed for the hills. Once I got my lovely aggro aura, they seemed to stick around fine.
Gauntlet...I'm not sure. Aggro gain is certainly possible (I helped out a lowbie blaster last night with my freeze aura--well, I was level 6 by then, he was 4--by just standing next to the minions who were trying to kill him, not attacking; they came after me fine, and stopped going after him completely), but it's too early for me to tell if my 'punchvoke' is working any differently. -
Need more choices... I love costumes, loathe PVP, but if I have to choose one thing, the storyline. It's still a superhero game, something this comic book geek craves...and if there's anything I'd want to have more concentration on, by the devs, it's that. Make us more part of the world, less like people fighting an endless array of faceless enemies...perhaps give us more things to do outside combat. Hey, I can dream.

The CuppaClones will now be CricketClones...kinda has a ring to it.
Sorry to see you go, Cuppa...you'll be missed.
