Here's a question for you all to chew on- should newbies to CoH/CoV ever Powerlevel?
In my opinion, no.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course the only opinion that counts on the question "should Player X powerlevel" is that of Player X.
This game is not rocket science. It can be learned on the fly. I know people who do not, as far as I know, PL, but who don't know basic tactics much less subtleties of play. I don' t PL and still find things I didn't know. How I got to the present level of the character who discovers the new thing does'nt really seem to be a factor.
But the main thing, again, is that no one else's opinion matters a darn on this question.

Didn't mommy and daddy pay any attention to you when you were a child?

Yours obviously didn't. :O -
They're not ignorant to the Farming. They just know the majority want to farm.
But yes, I don't mind if they take away M.A. It'll stop the endless crying from the anti-farmers. -
I say by the time this hits page 3, it'll go back to "Farmers are evil."

1. Cassandra Corte holds that the way other people play the same game is causing her to be frustrated with the game, thus ruining her ability to have fun in that game. She is also frustrated with the attitude that players who do something she does not personally like take (namely that they shouldn't have to change their behavior at all, regardless of the fact that said behavior is a cause of frustration for certain other players), because she believes that, as adults, other people should be forced to change their behavior because she seems to be unable to control or deal with her own frustration.

Fixed that for you, Cassandra. Seems to fit better...

[Inigo] You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. [/Inigo]
I also suggest you look up the phrase "pot calling the kettle black". You may find it enlightening. Or not...
Some of your previous comments referring to the "farm" crowd, otherwise known as people who play in a different way than you do:
Despite what the Farmheads keep saying
all the farking farms
To all you hairballs
because you jerks are ruining the server
"just a game" isn't a reason to piss all over other people.
childish buttheads
governed by go-fever and treasure-lust.

While I am sure this seems to you to be an amazingly witty and sardonic comment to make, since you keep repeating it in just about every thread where people disagree with you, in reality it does not make you come across as very "grownup" or mature at all. Just the opposite, in fact.
I suspect that many of the folks who have a position that is different than yours, are also mature, successful adults. It may make you feel better to dismiss them as "kiddies", but it doesn't make your position any more correct.
All you've done in just about every one of these threads is exaggerate and rant about how "farming" is ruining the game for you. Nearly every one of the things you have said is the complete opposite of my experience in the game since Issue 14 came out.
I have had ZERO problems forming or joining teams of any type since MA went live. I get tells quite often out of the blue asking if I would like to join regular mission teams, or taskforces. Amusingly, I have not gotten more than a handful from strangers that were asking about farming teams.
Sometimes I even get requests for things that I do not want to do, perhaps because I am already involved in something, or it is for something I don't particularly like to do. When this happens, it does not become something that " frustrates me and causes me to want to pull my hair out", as you said that farming does to you.
If I am running around the Shard working on False Nems for the badge, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out" if I get a tell asking me to join a team running a level 50 Carnie arc? Nope...
If I'm in the middle of a TF and I get a tell from a level 22 fire blaster asking me if there is room on the team for them, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out"? Nope...
If I'm running through Atlas Park while doing a mission and I see a bunch of chatter in broadcast, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out"? Nope...
And if I am running a farm mission, and someone asks me to join their mission team in Croatoa, do I get frustrated and "want to pull my hair out"? Still nope...
I don't let other people's behavior affect me or my state-of-mind, any more than absolutely necessary. (BTW, that approach works wonders in real life too)
Are there obvious exploits available in MA that tip the reward scale too far to one side? Yes. And most of the farming crowd acknowledges that. But this "debate" was never about that anyway, it has been about beating the same old tired horse, just with a bit more drama and lots more tears.

QUOTEd FOR TRUTH -
Farming.
Story is good and all, but I'd rather play the STORY of actual dev created stuff. That's just me. -
I want more epic raids rather than Hami and the Ship Raid. GMs are cool and all, but not really epic. I can solo them easy.
And yes, new zones plz. -
EDIT: NVM. This doesn't warrant an actual response as I feel like I've explained the farming side for so long and it's really getting tiresome.

It's a game. Get over it.

My opinions:
1) LEVEL SPEED. People's examples of extreme leveling existed prior to AE, atleast redisde it did. One run through a Lib TV on a 8 man team with a 46 mentor was enough to do about the same thing. The only limiting factor was if you had the bank account to afford the farm price. All that has happened is you removed the pay to farm mechanic, doorsitting, and forced the RMTers into a scramble trying to salvage their income.
2) Economy. Economies are not constant. There is always a state of flux. IF not there would be stores instead of markets. Yes, common and uncommon salvage prices are averaging 100 to 200 thousand each, but rare salvage has also dropped from 3 to 6 million each to around 400 to 600 thousand. Recipies (except purps) have all devalued in price due to increased availablilty. Allowing people without 2billion in their accounts access to the IO's and materials needed for tricked out builds. To me, this is a very very good thing.
3) Teaming. Teaming is still there. I recommend researching Private channels and supergroups that are dedicated on each server to content vs powergaming if that is your intrest. My teams very rarely make it to broadcast. When I am in the mood to do content, I normally ask my Coalition first, then go through my private channels I am a member of. After that, I might look at a LFT list or broadcast once...but normally I will just go with who I have. Just because people don't want to do the same stuff you do, doesn't mean they are wrong. Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they are not out there either.
4) Inexperienced players....let me get this right....the fact that there are new players coming into the game regardless of level upsets you? The fact that they are out of the AE and out in the zones and don't know where something is makes you OMGZOR instead of helping them? THAT was your chance to show them something different...to help them along, talk to them about various other aspects of the game. You would be suprised how few people actually do this instead of just assuming that everyone else knows everything as well. I make it a point to talk to new players, answer questions, ask about difficulties, and then teach them what I can. I offer to have them add my main to their friends list so they can find me again later for further consultation. You would be surprised how many come back weeks later to ask more questions with a new at they are trying out. Any new player is a good thing. PERIOD.
5) FARMING. Farming is not against the rules. Using an Exploit is. Do I feel some mobs need a nerf...yes, and the patch is on test for them. However, if someone chooses to farm, that is their game choice. When the dev's issue the rules saying farming is against them, I will champion the cause. Posi himself says the Dev team has discussed with raised voices the issues of farming and what limits, if any are imposed and that the current system is what they feel is appropriate. Farming is nothing more than powergaming. It is no more an invalid playstyle choice as roleplay, casual, or artist. As long as no exploits are being used, then there is no issue. Let them play their game, and you play yours. When one of them stubbles out of the AE building, do your best to teach and instruct and nurture them...they are the ones you want to try to get to do your content missions remember.
6) RATINGS. Ratings are a beauty contest. Nothing more. While I do not subscribe to griefing, some people are insanly jealous that farm mission are ranked higher than their precious work of art. Farmers care little about ratings. We care about the reward. I do feel a revamped rating system is in order, however, not everyone is going to like your mission either.
My feedback from i14.
And remember peeps, alot of issues are already being fixed with the test patch and the layout for i15 that has been uneiled already.

QFT. -
I do what I want.
But it's funny how you can say "if it bothers you you that people are trying to consolidate concerns and such from the million farming is ebil threads you don't have to read it or post or what not."
Same thing can be said about farming and people PLing themselves. You don't have to team with them.
You know, Goose, gander, and all that jazz. -
No one will be civilized because these are the same arguments stemming from the inception of the game. It will never die. It's like a merry go round.
People are getting rewards at a faster and efficient manner, and for others that's a little too fast.
Everyone is so concerned about the "immersion" of the damn game. This is like me telling people to stop smoking because it's bad for everyone, but it can't be stopped. People will still smoke. To each their own. Leave it be. It's their choice. I live in Sin City, and the Casinos are bad for the smoking, but hey, it annoys me that I smell the smoke, but I'm not gonna huff and puff "STOP SMOKING NAO!" when the devs (lawmakers) already made it a bit easier to go into a restaurant or bar without having to worry about smoking. So it got a little nerfed, but not outlawed.
If people want to PL themselves to 50 and they are incompetent at playing them, so what? If you team with them and they don't listen to your advice, so what? Doesn't mean you have to team with them anymore. Rating system is in place for that.
You guys honestly care about the noobs that play this game? If they were willing to learn to play the game in the first place, they wouldn't be involving themselves in farming from the get go. Or, if they did, they'd ask questions as soon as they were in one. Those are the noobs that I want to play with. The ones willing to learn. Those that don't, who cares. If they unsub, good for the community.
So all in all, let the devs worry about the EXPLOITS and stop blaming it soley on the damn farmers. They aren't hurting anything. The EXPLOITERS are, which btw, the devs have already taken care of. Sheesh. -
But I don't want you guys to have that because I can't be a powergamer like you?!?!?!?!?!?! and Immersion is a must!!!!!
-
Beating this damn thing like a dead horse.
-
Farmers aren't the ones bringing this up constantly. The ones against gaining rewards in an efficient manner since they can't do it either are.
Or some "immersion" bs. -

I can understand all the fun you have being swarmed by zombie bosses and getting alot of tickets for them. That however does not mean that what you are doing is "acceptable" from the game/dev point of view. How much reward are you gathering over time by doing such a mission? And what threat/challenge are you facing to gather such rewards? It is all about balance.
Even if it is not a pure code exploit that does not mean it is normal or acceptable that a player in MA can easily have access to several pool C ( Golden Rolls ) for minimal risk/effort while players doing other content in game that is harder or more time-consuming ( TFs ) get less reward. I call that broken.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's an idea of a FIX to that "borkedness" that you say. Are you ready?
1. Take away the SK/LK system
2. Slash the XP in half all across the board so farming does not occur in AE, but also in TFs, and "actual content."
3. Do away with "PERMA 46s" ZOMG!
4. Take away IOs. Period. Make everyone play with SOs and Hami's as the creme de la creme!
5. Take away BADGES! People farming badges make me angry! You don't want to see me angry!!!
Note: This is a sarcastic way for me to say, if you honestly think they'll fix it to where there will be a "harmonius" balance between the 2 sides, you are delusional. If you honestly think they can fix this to where EVERYONE is playing EQUAL, think again.
Only way they can do that is to break the game itself and start from scratch.
Again, people seem to mix "Exploitative Farming" and "Farming" in general. Yet, the only ones that get mashed on are "XP/Merit/Tickets/Inf Farmers" instead of wait...zomg..."Badge Farmers." Because badges are different and offer no rewards. Please, it's the same concept. I'd like to have 700 badges, but you don't see me farming the friggin heal badge day in night out. It's no fun for me. But who am I to tell the people that do like being badge whores they can't do so?
This is redundant. Everyone has their opinions, and this debate is going in circles. Express how much you think "farming" is broken, and I'll just go keep farming, getting my rewards at a higher rate than most.Until they make it an ACTUAL LAW/RULE that Farming (NOT EXPLOITATIVE FARMING) is a no go, I'll keep doing what I'm doing and people can whine about it some more.
-
Because to them, everything that can be attained at a more efficient manner than they are, in essence, an exploit.
