Quote:Agreed. Shadowhunter's lunging pose is okay, but Penny looks like she's hovering in mid-air doing pilates. To me, where the loading screen artwork fails the most is the lack of any feel of movement.
Quote:2) The target audience of comic books is and always has been teenage males.
Quote:Your average teenage boy does not want to see a realistically depicted female character. He wants his female characters to be impossibly attractive and improbably proportioned.
Quote:3) It is exceptionally rare for comic books to get flak for oversexualization from the people who actually READ them. This game has a rather high proportion of female players, but how many of those female players are also comic book fans? Probably not very many.
Quote:If you really want to point a finger at something for creating a bad stereotype for women, look no further than the Barbie doll. When you give your 5 year old daughter a Barbie doll, you are tacitly implying "This is what you should aspire to look like", whether you intend to or not. -
Although isn't it interesting that with all those beefy hunks in Avengers, the one who seems to be causing the most fangirl swooning is Tom Hiddleston...

My problem with that pic of Penny is not that it's sexy...it's that the artist has gone so far out of his way to try and force the sexiness that it just came out grotesque. Penny is a fit, well-endowed young woman in tight clothing. Pictures of her running, jumping around, throwing punches, etc. would come out looking sexy no matter what. But no, that's not good enough...we have to see both of her breasts and both of her butt-cheeks at the same time, or else it just wouldn't be hot enough, darn it! It's just so forced and calculated. They completely lost any sense of motion or grace in the figure in order to serve up the Minimum Daily Requirement of Fleshy Bits.

Mostly I look for story arcs that I haven't played lately. On the character I'm leveling up now, I made a point of doing the arcs in the Hollows, since I haven't run through those in a while. On the other hand, I've done the Faultline missions on a couple of characters recently, so I'll probably skip that this time out. Just mixing things up to keep it fresh.

In the case of customer feedback, I'd say quantity matters a lot more than quality. If enough people dislike something, it doesn't matter how reasonable or eloquent their opinions are...it'll get changed. (See: the Keyes Trial)

The Magesterium is so perfectly set up for farming that I have to wonder if the devs didn't do it on purpose. After all, they gave us Death From Below as a way to speed through the early levels that many people were sick of repeating. Since there's currently only one way to unlock Hybrid, they may be ok with people zipping through it initially, with the idea that once they've got the slot unlocked they'll relax and start running the trial "properly".
-
Bingo. I just shake my head when people who are obviously expert players with builds tweaked to the nth degree act as if they represent the average player.

Or gives up on running them. If everyone was "content" with the trials, we wouldn't have gotten Dark Astoria.
(Edit: Not to mention the trials that have gotten nerfed because everyone was so "content" with them) -
If they played it like the miniseries a few years back, where they're bounty hunters who specialize in bringing in super-villains, it could work. And it would give them a chance to bring in some of the low-level villains who are a fun part of the Marvel Universe, but haven't had much representation in the movies so far.

Armstrong also had a recurring role on "Moonlighting", and played record exec Ahmet Ertegun in "Ray":

Quote:There was a lot of speculation and concern about the possibility of F2P before it was officially announced:Could you explain how the community somehow managed to get together and ask for a VIP server before they even knew the game was going to be switching to F2P?

"Two examples I can give are the new VIP-Only server, where subscribers can play without non-paying players simply because we saw that as an oft-requested feature, and the ability to return as a Free player and create a brand new character, not be forced in reactivating (or worse deleting) old characters that are still on your account. " -
The VIP server was something the community requested...there was a fear among some that the incoming hordes of free players would create an unpleasant atmosphere, and they wanted the option to avoid them. I don't think there was ever any indication that you'd get special perks for playing there.

Quote:Not to mention the voice of Cave Johnson in Portal 2. "I punch those numbers into my calculator and it makes a happy face."I actually remember J.K. Simmons (actor in question) first as shrink Dr. Emil Skoda from the Law and Order franchise. Looked up his listing on IMDB. Damn... He portrayed that Character for nearly the entire L&O Series run (except mainly when he was involved w/The Closer). He's also the voice of the Cadamus General in JL/JLU. Wow...

Quote:The best part about this is, judging by history, the chances are pretty good that someone will hit the wrong button, and it'll be free Titan Weapons for everyone! There is no "system" really. We pick an item to offer up as a Freebie Friday item and we set its cost to zero for the day.

No doubt. Still, from what Black Pebble said on the Ustream, it sounds like some not-insignificant percentage of the playerbase is not using the market at all, and this is a way to nudge people into at least opening it up and having a look. Nothing wrong with that, of course.
-
Even so, as long as the chance is less than 100%, I am reluctant to spend real money on it. At the Pummit, they floated the idea of players being able to sell their unopened Super Packs at the auctionhouse. I would be ok with risking INF on a random roll.

Crazy conspiracy theory time: Could this be a sneaky way of introducing tech that could later be leveraged for PvP? A new arena? Players taking on "roles" that kinda sound like something out of Team Fortress? Hmmm....
-
Nope, I pretty much just stand there. Cycling attacks and popping off the occasional buff or inspiration is about all I can handle. If I had to worry about tactical movement on top of that, I think my brain would melt down.

I do use AE occasionally...it's a nice change of pace from running the same old familiar arcs while leveling up. I would use it more if it were easier to find good arcs (and my threshold for "good" is not very high...basically "not broken and not a farm").
I made a couple of arcs (see sig), but in the end it just seemed like too much work for something that would just get buried under the sea of junk. -
I don't PvP because I suck at it, and it's no fun getting curbstomped every two seconds. (I also suck at PvE, but there I have the tools -- difficulty settings -- to mitigate my ineptitude.)

Avengers seems to be winning the hype war -- every time they release a clip or photos, people are buzzing about it and scrutinizing them for clues, etc. Meanwhile, they just released the first clear shot of Hathaway in her full Catwoman regalia, and nobody seems to care much.
I'm sure both will do well, though, and they kind of complement each other: big, over-the-top action vs. gritty, psychological thriller.
