  1. Well, even though I was just being a bit ornery before, I do like Brutes better. I use to play alot of scrappers also, but when Dual Blades came out it all changed for me. I rolled a DB/WP Scrapper, and a DB/WP Brute. This gave me a direct comparison to make a judgement.

The journey from 1-50 wasn't all that different. I definetly felt the scrapper had less survivabilty, but most of CoH is easier anyways. The only time it really stuck out was in RWZ and Cimerao. The Scrapper really didn't feel like it killed things any faster either. I think the whole "being on a leash" building fury thing is way over exagerated. My fury is usually full by the end of the first mob and stays close to full the entire mission. Could just be my play style, but I don't watch the fury bar at all. I don't think about it, I just start killing everything in sight and don't stop moving at 100mph till nothing is left moving. All in all, they played very similar but I prefered the brute.

Here's where they big difference appeared. I decided to make these two guys my first big expensive builds. They were the same DB/WP and had very similair names, I thought they could be the same guy, but I'd have a good version and bad version. Anyways, long story short...I spent over a billion Inf on both of these guys. The brute became my main, and I rarely touch the scrapper. My brute can tank just about anything now, and can solo just about anything including AVs. My brute laughs at the RWZ challenge and charges into anything without worry. My Scrapper still gets pwnd on the RWZ challenge. Even though they are built exactly the same, the Scrapper just doesn't feel "Elite" after playing the brute version. He does a little more damage up front, but can't survive long enough to take out the AVs I solo with my Brute.

This is just my experience and really it's just a matter of opinion. All I know is when Brutes have Katana, Claws, and Broadsword proliferated, and you can switch sides thru Going Rogue....I'll never play a Scrapper again.

If you play with constant scrapperlock, your fury is always full anyways and you do just as much damage. Brutes pwn Scrappers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And then your health and/or endurance runs out and you have to hit rest...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not me. Maybe your not doing it right.
  3. If you play with constant scrapperlock, your fury is always full anyways and you do just as much damage. Brutes pwn Scrappers.
  4. The only thing better about Scrappers is that they have Claws, Katana, and Broadsword. Other than that Brutes do just as much damage and have more survivability. I say role a Brute and take your time leveling him nice and slow. By the time you hit 50 GR will be out and you can play either side.
  5. I did. I know it's just my opinion. I'm sure tons of people would love a set full of "magic" bullets with special affects and damage. I would just prefer a set that focuses on fast cast times and lethal damage with defense debuffs and resitsance debuffs. Lethal is a highly resisted type of damage, but if every attack did -def or -res, it would do just fine.

Anything else could be added thru combos rather than "magic" ammo. Again, just my opinion.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I hope its somewhat like a ranged claws. Maybe shorter range than most blaster/corrupter primaries, but with significantly faster recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ditto. Especially the redraw. I hope the redraw is super fast along with the cast times.
  7. I don't even care. I'll be rolling some sort of Dual Pistols character on day one....running around with the 13 million other Dual Pistol nubs
  8. I think this entire game is built around 50 being the highest level period. They mentioned we might get some kinda system that would allow us to slot a globle slot to esentially continue evolving past 50, but I don't see the actually lvl cap ever going higher.
  9. I vote for a tech based set that allows you to pick from many different "Power Gloves" These oversized tech gloves would be loaded with blades and guns. Metal blades or tintable energy blades would pop out for melee attacks, but you'd also have guns that shoot regular bullets or energy blasts or laser beams, as well as gadgets like tasers, endurance sappers, and short ranged grenades of all sorts. So many options, I think this would need to be an EAT with choices to build your chracter down a path like VEATs do.

    so...uh....yeah. Tech Power Gloves set.
  10. Also, moved an HO into Mindlink for more recharge and a nice little tohit buff and now Mindlink is only down for 3.2 seconds. Good stuff!

I'm no pro at the whole defense thing. I like to fight +4s as much as possible, so how much is just right? Without mindlink I'm around 50% to all, with ML up I'm about 70% to all, and with Elude I'm like 150% to all.....so is there a perfect amount? At what point does it just become overkill?
  11. Yeah, my biggest dilema was my last power. I took Elude as an emergency button for health or endurance, but don't plan on using it much. Without it my defenses are all around 70%. (with mindlink)

I'm not a big fan of hasten and would much rather get by on globle recharge buffs. Mindlink is only down for 7 seconds with this build and I think I'm ok with that. Even when it's down my defenses are all about 50%, and I have elude if I need it.

If I did drop weave it would allow me to pick three other powers and have more slots which is tempting. I'd really like to add Gloom from the Soul PPP. I'm curious if anyone has experience with gloom on a Widow...seems like it would fit rather nicely with Poison Dart and Dart Burst.

Anywho, thanks for the feedback....might think about what I could do if I drop the fighting pool.
  12. What I'm looking for is a Widow that can not only out stalk a stalker, but can go toe to toe in any situation a scrapper could also. Here is my build, please feel free to leave any tips that might improve the survivability.

  13. [ QUOTE ]
Anyone remember the Asian "City of Hero" cinematic? We had a sword/shotgun character, a martial arts/chi blast character, and a melty-liquid metal/soul empowering character. Sometimes they showcase these signature powers in the trailers that we can't use...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Red names already confirmed we are getting Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning in issue 16.
  14. I haven't heard anything about the universal Enh Slots in quite awhile....is there any new news out recently? If it was said it will be part of issue 16 I must have miissed it.
  15. "City of Heroes Going Rogue" is the title of this thread.....focus.
  16. I think the easiest and probably best solution for the redraw issue with Dual Pistols is to make the redraw about half the length of other ranged weapon redraw times. Assault Rifle for example takes about 1.3 seconds to redraw. If they made the redraw for Dual Pistols like.5 seconds, I think it would feel just fine.
  17. I'm mainly just bored and dreaming cause I'm like 90% sure Dual Pistols will be a power set for Corruptors, Blasters, and Defenders....but IF it was to be a Rogue Agent epic AT instead, this is what I'd like it to look like.

    Rogue Primary

    1. Single Shot - Quick Single shot from one pistol. Minor Smashing DoT. 60ft range

    2. Dual Shot - One shot from each pistol. Moderate Smashing DoT 40ft range

    3. Sweep - Animation from Dragon tail from martial arts. Low spinning kick that does moderate damage in an AoE with knockdown. 10ft radius

    4. Empty Clips - Wide cone where you empty both clips. Does moderate smashing DoT to upto 10 targets. Range is only 30ft.

    Rogue Secondary

    1. Quickdraw - you have a passive boost to your run speed and recharge. Also naturally resists slows.

    2. Eagle Eye - This click power boosts your damage and accuracy for 15 seconds.

    3. Decimattion - Just by watching an opponent you can see thier weaknesses. This power lowers the resistance and Defense of a single target for a short time.

That's it at first. Seven total powers, all offensive. At level 20 you will need to pick a specialty. Much like choosing
a pth for VEATs. You can become a Rogue Spy or a Rogue Assassin.

    Spy Primary

    1. Web Grenade - this grenade can completely hold a single target rendering him helpless.

    2. Flash Bang - This grenade explodes into a bright burst of light blinding as you throw it to your feet. All targets within 50 ft radius will have a large debuff to accuracy and perception for a brief time. They will also be disoriented for a few moments or untill attacked.

    3. Sliver - You aim specificly at your enemie's legs. This attack is much like empty clips but does minor DoT in the cone and has a slow affect on all targets hit.

    4. Absolute - This power would be like a hybrid of assasin's strike and sniper shot. You'd kneel down and take a few moments to aim like sniper shot, but if the target was still unaware of you (not aggroed) the shot would do double damage. High damage, or Extreme depending on how it is used. Range is 120 ft.

    5. Blaze of Glory - Animation from Typhoon's Edge (jump and spin with arms fully extebded) with both guns unloading on full auto. 40 ft radius AoE moderate lethal damage.

    Spy Secondary

    1. Cloak - This click power allows you to use a device that cloaks you. It acts as an AoE placate, and you are completely invisible for 30 seconds. Very good for sneaking past a mob or getting out of a sticky situation.

    2. Spontaneus - Your reactions are so fast in combat you are hard to hit. This toggle provides 12% defense to Melee and Ranged attacks.

    3. Sphere of Weakness - This toggle acts a a strong defense debuff. Any enemy that gets within 8ft of you loses alot of defense due to your ability to immediatly spot his weaknesses and strike them, or even shout them out to comrades.

4 & 5. Honestly I can't think of 2 more powers for this AT, but basicly this route should have some more self and team buffs with minimal mitigation help. Survivability should be slightly better than a Corruptor/Blaster. With HP of a stalker and very minimal defense, you wont want to be doing alot of scrapping. The idea is to use the Flashbang Grenade and the cloaking device along with the Absolute attack to be a sort of ranged stalker with big damage opening shots, then use your holds, slows, and debuffs to keep your attackers at a distance while picking them apart.

    Assassin Primary

    1. Spinning Backhand - Anyone who has ever seen a UFC match knows this move. You stay on your feet but spin around striking with the backside of your hand. This would be a small radius AoE with a max of 5 enemies. Moderate smashing damage.

    2. Uppercut - A fast upper cut, nothing like Knock out Blow from super strength. This quick but powerful strike would do high smashing damage with knockdown.

    3. Blaze of Glory - Animation from Typhoon's Edge (jump and spin with arms fully extebded) with both guns unloading on full auto. 25 ft radius AoE moderate lethal damage.

    4. Point Blank - This attack is melee ranged but you kneel down slightly and fire a single shot from both guns
simultaneously at your enemy's face. Extreme damage and knocback.

    Assassin Secondary

    1. Tough as Nails - This epic AT would start with HP around that of a Stalker, but this passive power grants roughly 10% bonus HP and 8% resistance to all.

    2. Hardened - This Toggle provides 15% resistance to Smashing and lethal, as well as strong resists to holds and other status affect powers.

    3. Evasive Maneuvers - This toggle grants 10% defense to ranged, melee, and AoE attacks.

    4. Quicksilver - This passive power gives a slight buff to accuracy and protection against accuracy debuffs.

    5. Bullet Proof - This click power gives you high resists to all damage types for 90 seconds. When it crashes you are left with 1/4 health and endurance. 5 minute recharge.

This AT path would play very much like a Bane Spider or Widow. You'd have the survivability of a scrapper and do alot of your fighting up close and personal, but also have the capacity to do some good damage from a distance. Very Equilibrium/Gunfu oriented.

    Few side notes...

    - These EATs would need to have very fast redraw to not be annoying. The redraw is what scares me about a Blaster/Corruptor set.

    - I didn't work out the combos, but my idea is to have 10 -12 combos that provide everything from extra damage to the enemy, to extra defense for the caster. This is important becuase it would allow the player to truly customize thier Rogue agent by consentrating on the combo affects they want to excel at.

    - Also, I think a good inherent power would be highly boosted regen between fights. Basicly, after 20 seconds of not attacking or being attacked, your regen would be
about as high as when you use "Rest" As soon as you start fighting again it would go back to normal, but it would allow you to recover between skirmishes very quickly. Thats's about all I got. It's a rough idea but I think it would be great fun. I do realize it is HIGHLY unlikely, but I can dream :P

Praetoria will be the catalyst for side-switching but once you've become villainous you can't just hop dimensions and go "Weee! I'm good again!" Doesn't work logically, technically or at all with the narrative.

I agree with the first part of your post but this is not true. Redname already said you could switch back and forth.

It would have to be I14b. There's already been an I14a.

The MA was actually issue 13b, so this would be issue 13c. It hasn't even gone to beta yet and all I care about is issue 16. It's been awhile since we had a real issue that I enjoyed.
  20. I think Praetoria will have 6-8 zones. Some of these zones might have identical names to existing zones like Atlas or Grandville, but will look 100% different and will actually be brand new zones.

For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Isles™ and Villains to experience Paragon City™.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It could be as simple as:

Paragon City in Preatorian Earth = Villain area
Rogue Isle in Preatorian Earth = Hero area

Therefore allowing us to experience the other area albeit from a different perspective.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know I rewatched the trailer today and I didn't notice this the first time but the city they show on the moniter when she says "It looks like Paradice" and that Tyrant was speaking in, it looks like it would be an alternate version of Grandvile. Which would stand to reason that if Tyrant is in the Rouge Isles then the Arachnos would be in Paragon City.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if it's Grandville, but first thing I noticed was no War Walls.
  22. Did this thread get mod smasked? I coulda swore there were more posts than this when I went to wrok this morning....
  23. At least we got a real teaser this time instead of that lame "I Win" button crap for issue 14. This trailer really got me excited about the issue.
