Speaking from personal experience, I've gotten 10 threads twice, and common salvage once. Now that I've unlocked my Hybrid, I'm not really encouraged to do this trial much more until this is fixed.

Any word on if this is working as intended? Because I KNOW I contributed a whole hell of a lot, and getting 10 threads twice in one night really made me angry.
  2. Yep, was just about to post a topic about this myself, before I decided I should check and see if it's affecting anyone else.

    'Lo and behold, it is.

I hope this is fixed soon, I got a nasty surprise for a costume contest last night.

    Just a note on this.

Probably my favorite scene in recent comics history is actually a parallel of this.

Thor's fighting in a major city, gets his *** knocked across three city blocks and crashes down next to an ambulance, dropping his hammer. One of the paramedics helps Thor back to his feet, the other one picks up the hammer and hands it back to Thor without a second thought. Thor rushes to get back in the fight, only to pause for half a moment and stare back at the paramedic who handed him the hammer.

It doesn't need to be some giant "Now I'm Thor!" thing to be a big deal. The better moments are downplaying the importance of something until someone actually realizes what just happened.

In this case? I'd rather adhere to the rule of cool rather than the rule of canon.
  6. Okay, yeah, what Samuraiko's saying will probably never happen, I get that.

But I cannot, for the life of me, believe that you people are almost universally saying that new content should trump bug fixes.

We've had memory leaks out the yin-yang for years.

To this day, I STILL cannot run consecutive Lambda Trials without crashing.

And there's a veritable MOUNTAIN of other bugs/problems that have been around for years, and I know each and every one of you have complained about at least one, at least once or twice, and said "Why is this still happening after all this time?"

You know what? I would take a couple fewer contacts per issue, or one or two months more between issue releases, if it just meant that we could start to see some of these longstanding bugs wiped off the map once and for all. I'm all for new content... but I want my EXISTING content to work, and work well, too!

95% sure that it's the pet.
  8. Also, a five piece Will of the Controller gives 8.75 recharge, which could come in handy over some other sets. I've currently got it in blind, but I may respec it to another power depending on how my slotting turns out.

I REALLY can't wait to get a new MIDS build so I can check my build there...

    EDIT:

Also, if you don't mind my asking... how well will the recharge Alpha affect these recharge numbers, do you have any solid numbers there? I'm trying to avoid purple-setting if possible. It'll hamper me when I exemp, but I don't plan to do much exemping.
  9. It's not really just the Archetype that ATOs will show the popularity of, it's the set bonuses.

Almost everyone has use for the recharge boost.

But the sets that don't have good defense boosts are getting hosed by the ones that do.

Look, for example, at Arachnos vs. the melee ATs.

Arachnos has fairly generic boosts, and a nearly (NEARLY) useless +2.21 boost to Psi and Toxic resistance. There's almost no reason to slot it over other sets, unless you desperately need an extra 1.5 percent recharge bonus over something another set can offer. I, personally, threw it into one of my Ranged AoEs where the other sets offer similarly lackluster bonuses, and I don't expect to ever think about it again.

Scrapper, Brute, and Stalker, meanwhile, have the much-loved boost to smashing/lethal and melee defense... and on top of that, have a 2.21 bonus to smashing/lethal resistance. There's no set that offers that nice of a combination of survivability for an attacking power. I'm still not sure which set I want to swap it out with, because it's going to change my softcap efforts a fair amount.

The differences between those sets are absolutely staggering.

As it is, with super packs being a best seller (at least according to the front page of the Paragon Market), and the ATOs dropping like candy, I don't see them going up in price anytime soon. Of course I don't think the expensive ones (200 mill ones) will drop in price much either just because of how valuable they are to the respective ATs.

just my random musing. ignore if you like.
Ah, but they're only a best seller right now. The question is whether or not the Super Packs KEEP selling or not.

If sales start to peter off, there are going to be significantly less of these entering the market in the long term. In that case, I would expect to see prices for these skyrocket in as short as three weeks' time.

If Super Packs keep selling? The prices will remain constant, or dare I say, even drop a bit.

Some of the sets are being sorely undervalued. I picked up a full set of the Kheldian ATOs for about 60 million last night, and I suspect I'll be picking up a full set of the controller one for barely 100.

Meanwhile, the scrapper and brute sets look as though they'll be the major cash cow sets of this release, with Blasters and Corruptors coming in a close second.

(yes, I did scuttle. it was darn near Zoidberg woob woob woob scuttling.)
Someone asks about Sashes every costume panel.

Same with moving tails, before they were introduced.

Hell, at Herocon 2009, I made sure to get in line and ask about both at once, complete with a "Go ahead and get your bottle, I'm about to make you win the drinking game" joke.
  13. Hey everyone!

I know that back when incarnate trials were released, Blueside Hamidon raiding practically vanished overnight.

Well, I've been feeling the mood for Jello again recently, and I'd been hearing that Hami raids were still going on. Unfortunately, the schedule seems to have changed?

Is there a set schedule for these things still, or do they happen whenever someone manages to pull together a large enough league to smack the giant blob? I didn't see anyone in The Hive today at the old time.

I take offense at this statement. This is how an abundance of POOR heroic fiction works.

Stargate, specifically the Ori Storyline of the last season on the Air: I stopped watching because it was plainly clear that one miserable MacGuffin would make the difference between being able to stop this all powerful force, and utter defeat. Worse yet, even when everyone knew where and what it was, the series was still dragged out for half a season to get us there, for no other reason than to kick everyone around.

Star Trek, specifically the Dominion War: AGAIN, the only apparent way to win was... a disease, I think? Yes, I know there was more going on in the end, but the last two seasons were so poorly written that a lot of fans were turned off of DS9 by them, to say nothing of that ending. And we just won't go into later series...

Star Wars: Uh... what? What improbable plot device? Even in the new, horrid trilogy, the war was completely independent of much of what was going on with the main characters, short of "Order 66" which would have been caught had anyone bothered to READ SOME DOCUMENTATION ON THE CLONING. (Grossly oversimplified, but really, if we get into a Star Wars debate, we've all already lost.)

Independence Day: The problem was solved by a human's primitive computer virus obliterating an entire alien fleet's security. Does anyone, at all, EVER believe this was a good thing for this movie? I honestly believe that the only reason it was in there was because without it, the writers had no way to let humanity survive. Which, you know, was KINDA THE POINT. They had a brilliant opportunity with Area 51, a means of researching the aliens (Which they had been doing since ROSWELL, don't forget), and giving us a way to fight back at the eleventh hour. And what do they do with it? They give the heroes a Taxi to the mother ship.

The good stories are the ones that are hard fought and believable, even if it requires a little suspension of disbelief. The good stories are the ones where the heroes give as good as they get, where they've got victories where they hit the ENEMY just as badly as the enemy's hit them.

Maybe there's a wide array of fiction that requires the use of a MacGuffin to get anything done. That doesn't make it good. More often than not that makes it cheap, uninteresting, and a blatant example of padding out a series and stringing along viewers. And if that's the inspiration that you hope that CoH draws from, I don't want to play the game that you want to play.

    Fair enough.

That being said... are you honestly telling us that we might get what we've asked for in time? It's been a long, long time since the magic pack came out, and there's still no baron jacket for females.

How long will we have to wait for a decent Gunslinger outfit for females? Will we have to pay for it separately?

The more I look at it, the less I want to buy the Gunslinger pack. I might buy individual pieces of it, but there's just so little that I actually WANT in this pack that should have been there.

  18. I will almost certainly be buying this set because there's a lot of things that I want to do with a fair amount of those pieces.

That being said, judging by the comments thus far, there's a lot more that CAN'T be done with those pieces.

Therefor, my purchase is going to be contingent upon trying out several of my ideas and seeing if they can be done.

The disparity between male and female costume pieces is really starting to annoy me. Yes, I enjoy having sexy costume pieces... but I would much rather have RESPECTABLE costume pieces. "When everyone is sexy, nobody will be."

Heck, Outlaw from Marvel has a hat, a fringed vest, and switches between daisy dukes and jeans, and she looks more respectable and Gunslingerish than the female costume given here. I'd like to have some badass options for my ladies, please!

    Alt Tab issue

No, the screen isn't going black.

The screen simply displays a still image of the exact moment that I click back on the window, or alt-tab back, or return to CoH in any way. Another alt-tab returns functionality to normal.

When it does behave like this, it happens every time I alt-tab, with no exceptions. Normal -> Still image -> Normal -> still image, like clockwork.

When it doesn't do this, it never does it during a session.

I'm sure it means that there's something interacting with CoH that's causing this behavior, but damn if I know what, given that I'm always running the same programs all the time. (The only exception being when I have MIDS open for levelling purposes, but MIDS being open does not have any effect on this. Sometimes the issue is present when MIDS is running, sometimes it's not.)
  20. JChaos

    Alt Tab issue

This is really weird, and I have had no luck in narrowing down what is causing this error.

I alt tab frequently when I'm playing, however over the past month or so, there have been times where I would Alt Tab, and upon coming back to the game, the display would be locked. I can still move my mouse, I can still hear ambient noise, I can still MOVE... but the display doesn't change. When I alt tab again and come back, everything is behaving as it should be.

Worse yet, it doesn't do this all the time, so I have no idea what's causing it. The only things that I'm running at the same time are Firefox 7, and AIM.

Has anyone else had this happen? Anyone know what's causing it?
  21. That sounds promising too. Can you post the data chunk for that build so I can take a look at it?

    I appreciate it.
  22. You definitely have a point there. There's not much I can slot that will give me recharge and the other boosts I'm used to slotting for (defense, Regen), is there?

    Thank you for the assistance.
  23. Hmmm, that does look a little better, but I'm still worried because my set bonuses are all over the place other than recharge.

Still, definitely better than what I had.
  24. Whoops, I thought I selected that. Okay, let me edit my prior post.
  25. I've decided I wanted to try my hand on a new character, but as I've made her build, I've realized that I'm trying to do too much at once, and my build is suffering for it.

I've never played a Rad before, which complicates matters significantly. I'm building for Recharge, but I haven't really decided what other bonuses I want to try for.

Has anyone got advice on how I can improve this build?
