Give it a few weeks Shubbie and it will either be rote-run or adjusted downward in difficulty.
    No.

    Absolutely not.

Keyes getting nerfed as hard as it was, was completely unnecessary. I won't argue it needed to be toned down, but the fact that it's "no harder than a Respec Trial" is a sign they filed it's fangs down one or two steps too much.

Keyes was my favorite trial because there was an actual sense of "We have to get it together or we WILL fail."

Now it's "Oh look I can AFK through half the trial and it won't mean a thing"
  2. I like how everyone forgets the BIG reason Tyrant had things like Enriche or the Seer Network in place. It wasn't just for kicks.

It was because it was his way of making sure Praetorian Hamidon didn't come bearing down on him like the fist of an angry god and completely wipe out the last remnants of Humanity. Yes, it's still ugly and nasty that Tyrant had thought-police and drug-filled water to pacify the citizens while his Praetors did their things, but what was the alternative?

Complete and utter extinction by a monster Tyrant himself, even as the Champion, was not utterly confident he could defeat.

In this sense, while the methods were deplorable, the intention was fine.

Which is why I'm glad you're not the one telling the story.

Considering you seem to hate everything about the writing from GR onward (maybe further back?), I fail to see why you even comment much anymore. We get it, you have a ridiculously extreme opinion of just how much you hate the writing.

Anyway, back on topic, I wouldn't kill him. His personal story makes it clear he disapproved of his Praetors all being egotistical maniacs, especially Tilman for trying to mind control the populace after the TPN. Their punishment it seems was him NOT rendering them any actual physical aid when we assaulted them.

He only came down from his throne because we came right to his doorstep telling him his time was up.
  4. I found Trilogy rather endearing to be honest. He's a kid telling a glorified fantasy story about a make-believe hero. I thought it was cute.
  5. ...Did anyone get the part where I asked about the Mastermind pet issue during iTrials and that they fixed it?

(For the record I ran a BAF that very evening and low-and-behold, the problem was fixed)

Players who have joined us more recently are now moving through the game and hitting incarnate content head on at level 50.

However difficult the STF or LRSF might have once been, in my mind neither of them compares to the crushing brutality of the iTrials on an imperfectly built toon. My brother is a relatively new player who struggled on his way to 50. After a few months of iTrials he recently expressed his desire to quit playing. The reason is not that his team keeps losing. It's that he keeps dying over and over and over and that he is not good enough to contribute anything to the fighting. People call Lambda "easy" but for him it is clerly beyond his current skill level and is basically a death trap.

I think we really need to be careful when we refer to something as "not difficult." Just because a team can carry a trial to victory doesn't mean some team members aren't being annihilated or made to feel sidelined.

That said, I was one of the players who said in the beta the trial was boring. Not "easy" necessarily, but boring. I wish they had made it more thrilling instead of more crushing.
Define "badly built". You don't need IOs to succeed in iTrials.
  7. Once again, we're doing the same song and dance as pre-nerf Keyes. People complaining about the difficulty of a trial that actually requires that the players actually THINK about what they're supposed to do and pay attention to their surroundings.

I honestly hope the Magi Trial doesn't get the same treatment as Keyes, which was nerfed into oblivion, to the point that it's as snooze-worthy as a BAF or Lambda now. At least TPN only got a minor (and much needed) nerf, and MoM hasn't been touched at all.

Some hints for folks running Magi trials:

    1) Don't pop your Lore Pets UNTIL Tyrant hits the 30-35% mark. It's easy to get him that low and that's where most leagues stall

    2) Don't camp the Lights. No seriously, don't. 3/4ths of a Team trying to camp the light means that much less DPS. The only people who should concievably be camping Lights are Masterminds, since they can command pets to attack Tyrant and pets are immune to the Lightning Drop patches.

    3) When you see the warning "The air around Tyrant crackles!" move AWAY. Now, I won't be too harsh if you accidentally use your long-animating T9 attack (I've made the mistake of using Concentrated Strike, and a friend made the mistake of using Energy Transfer), but otherwise, stick to faster attack chains. If people move away in time, the lightning patches are spread out and folks can easily move back in and keep wailing on him.

    4) It's okay to farm Phase 1 for the Hybrid EXP if you want it. Hybrid helps out quite a bit during this trial.

But really, it's not that much more difficult than pre-nerf Keyes, MoM, or TPN. People simply have to be willing to coordinate and keep their eyes on the screen and the chatbox.

    Absorb = ?

Also of note, unless the power states a duration, an Absorb shield does NOT go away on it's own. It remains on the character until expended. So it's going to be one of those "buff-the-party-at-the-start-of-the-mission" type powers as well.
  9. @Psylenz: Oh definitely, I've heard for arguments about the subtle, finer uses of KB with Storm, and I don't disagree with you there. It's just, having toyed with /Dark on an MM here and there, it's very difficult to break away from what basically comes off as the best Secondary ever (for MMs)

Also the fact that Twilight's Grasp (while requiring a hit-check) is a ridiculously good heal, but for your pets AND for you.

I like Storm because it's more active. My problem with Dark, Pain, and even Traps, is outside of a few moves you use, the MM himself does nothing. Storm has plenty of things for you to do.

Of course, if I needed a self-heal that badly, there's always Medicine, which isn't a terrible option.

Heh, it's true. I'm use to having some kind of self-heal from playing Thermal and Dark all the time. I've done a Demon/Dark, Demon/Thermal, and even Nin/Time. It's just nice to have an option for those times when you get into a pinch. But then I suppose that's what Insps are for too!

Is it better than Dark? I wouldn't say it is. Is it effective enough that you can handle any mission the game gives you? Heck yeah.
I would rather play Storm. I just wish Storm had a better heal. Dark's heal has spoiled be rotten.
  11. Trying to decide which. /Dark is pretty much the gold standard for Thugs...but I also like Storm Summoning.
  12. I wouldn't put it in Gale. The -point- of Gale is to knock things away from you to give you room to breathe. Now, Tornado? MUCH better idea.
  13. Remember these? My "All Mastermind TF" things? Decided to do one for Memorial Day Weekend. This took a bit longer, but once again, it was a breeze. Sadly, no Beast Masterminds at the time we started this. Also, for the record, we tanked the Nictus Ambush and took on Romulus prematurely due to Imperious still being alive. I think the most dent anyone took life-bar wise was...1/6 or so from someone, forget who.

(Cross-Posted from the Mastermind Forum Category)

    From Left-to-Right we had:

    Le Diable - Demon/Time

    Temporal Mangrave - Merc/Time

Shogun of Sorrow (That's me! Dinged 50 during that ITF too!) - Ninja/Time

    Immotech - Thugs/Dark

    Deadkittylypp - Necro/Pain

    Royal Demon Tamer - Demon/Thermal

    Necro Vaquero - Necro/Dark

    Aurora Morningstar - Bots/Pain

Thanks everyone for coming out and making this a success. Next time I think I'll record it and upload it to Youtube!

Actually, Posi said in his open letter than i24 will deal with Praetorian Hamidon. So no, we're still going to face their Eldritch Abomination.

Really? I'd a need a citation of where the devs came out and said that.

Either way, for "not going as planned" it seems to be wrapping up fairly nicely, at least with the Magistarium Trial and i24 wrapping up the loose ends.
  19. Masterminds. 8 Demon/Thermals and you can practically laugh your way through any content as long as the MMs are level 12.

    Sharks Fin

I would kill for decent shark costume parts. Right now the only shark besides Mako is Riptide, who uses reptile parts (The only way you know he's a fish is if you do the Power arcs, and they specific refer to Riptide as "fishy").

And while reptile parts are adequate replacements...we need actual SHARKs.

Praetoria gets the unhappy ending; an object lesson, as if we needed one, as to why surrendering liberty for safety obtains neither.
You assume Praetorian Hamidon won't try to attack the moment it realizes that Cole is down. Yes, there will obviously be a gap in the issues, but storyline-wise I think it's safe to assume we won't just cut our losses and run.

We know Hamidon in Primal is capable of dimensional travel, so why not Praetorian Hamidon too?
  22. I believe Posi stated in his open letter that i23 dealt with taking down Tyrant, and i24 was basically wrapping up all the loose ends, which would include Praetorian Hamidon.

And really Venture? As much as you despise Praetoria, they can't just go "Nope, it's all done!" and leave Prae Hami as a loose plot thread. As someone who claims to be such an expert in good writing, you should know you can't leave something like that just waving free.

Yes, but I think that before folks begin tying Longbow on a stake to burn for their crimes, we need to be able to point out the hypocrisy.
  24. Personally, I think Longbow gets WAY too much flak.

They're basically the PPD with MUCH heavier firepower because let's face it, they need it! The average metahuman isn't fazed by bullets or punches, so Longbow has to break out chainguns, flamethrowers, and those pancaking Nulifier guns with the $*@^ SONIC GRENADES!

But really, for everyone giving them crap about how they took Mercy and they're vigilantes. I can't blame them. They had their BEST security during SSA1 and Duncan was still captured in what to be the most perfectly executed trap.

Longbow is taking the logical (though extreme) measure against enemies who have NO qualms about putting them down at the first chance they get. It's not very heroic, but it's logistically sound.

On top of that, it's amazing that folks give Longbow such crap when Recluse (who according to the UN I believe, I could be wrong) who rules the "sovereign nation" that is the Rogue Isles attempts to "annex" Galaxy City during the Shivan Meteor Shower.

...Isn't that technically an act of war?
  25. Oh, something to add. Where would you put the Arachnos ATO Proc, or the ATO Set in general?
