More than one of my characters cite Galaxy Girl as their inspiration, and seeing her statue's arms reaching into the sky still gives me a thrill when I fly past it. I truly hope that if her memorial and the zone of the city named in her honor are destroyed, somehow she'll get a new memorial built in a different zone. IMaybe we could get a Galaxy Girl statue in front of the train station in Atlas, like the devs did with Cyrus Thompson in Kings Row.

    K
This. Just can't get exited about the destruction of one of my favorite zones. What the hell are the devs thinking?
  3. Lol not 24/7.

I don't see the point in preserving the current Galaxy City in Ouroboros either unless they are gonna do something cool like letting us go back in time to meet Galaxy Girl, the Regulators, previous incarnations of the Freedom Phalanx, or other heroes from the past like Atlas or Talos, etc..
  4. So is Atlas Park getting this wonderful "comic book" makeover too? I'd love to see them trying to have a costume contest while being attacked by zombies or alien spaceships.
  5. I was thinking about posting a report in game about it then found this thread on the forums and realized that the devs must know all about this issue and haven't resolved it yet so figured it wouldn't do any good.
  6. So fed up with this stupid thing. It's recently tried to tell me that the word 'splinter' is profane or copyrighted and that just can't be. I wasn't even using it as splinter but splintering which makes it even more absurd. Pretty soon we won't be able to use a single world in the English language without infringing on some trademark.
  7. I do still have a faint hope that the Devs will do something to end the City of Farmers mania but it will have to be something fairly dramatic to have any impact judging by the AE debacle.
  8. You kind of are forced to do the raid stuff or some kind of farming if you team at all or your once uber level 50 will be gimped compared to others who run the raids daily now, to say nothing of PvP.

MMOs typically have bigger and more immersive worlds to play in and the ability to go nearly anywhere you want instead of playing on a rail. I don't mind teaming normally but the grind of the Incarnate missions is not my idea of fun.
  10. Wow, that's really neat. Congrats to all who got theirs in. And here I thought I was merely going crazy for seeing things.
  11. Thanks for the offer Golden Girl but the idea of trying that TF again gives me hives. I've resigned myself to waiting for a real solo alternative to the Incarnate stuff or maybe quitting this game altogether.
  12. No, I am just really bad at them. Never even made it past the Battle Maiden one cause of those damn death patches that kill me every time or keep me jumping around so much that I can't do her any damage. Judging from the teams I've been on I'm far from the only one not good at that kind of stuff though.

I honestly prefer soloing or teaming up for the occasional small group as I seem to have better luck that way.

Moving all characters to a VIP only server? The concept blows my mind. When the VIP server was first announced it occurred to me that they were doing things backwards: Better to create one or a few servers exclusively for free players... then CHARGE VETS TO ACCESS THOSE.

Yeah, that's right. I would pay a fee to play on a server that was filled with a bunch of people new to the game. Veterans, in any game, are the most jaded people you'll ever meet. New features never meet their high expectations, everything has been turned in to a grind, their sense of entitlement sours the very air around them. Veterans rarely get excited... Part of being a vet in gaming culture is competing to see who can be more blase. Vets suck. I hope you all die(in game ).

New players are excited, not necessarily in a jumping around the room kind of way, but excited nonetheless. Playing with them can be like discovering the game all over again. They experiment, sometimes even innovate. The worst thing about new players isn't their ignorance or the occasional poor attitude. The worst thing is watching them turn in to vets, to watch them be instructed in what is "best" and "worst", to watch them be told that regardless of how much fun they're having it just isn't the right kind of fun. The worst thing about new players is watching them turn in to vets.

Yes, I'm generalizing. Playing left fiddle to the forums right oboe. Stroking the emu while dancing a jig. So what? Go suck eggs. I'll be playing with the new guys.
So brilliant. Unfortunately I'm so jaded that I can't get excited even about a new influx of more optimistic players. All the recent and impending changes have just turned me off this game completely.
  14. Not for me. Did you miss my comment about my total suckage? Don't think I've completed a single trial and the utter failures have discouraged me from making many attempts.
  15. I agree that FREEEM would be perfection itself. Pity that the devs are too concerned about all the supposed new VIP players being a tiny bit confused and getting their wittle noses out of joint.

How about Desperation? Cashing Out? The Sith Empire?
  16. I've tried to avoid commenting on this to see how the Incarnate thing will shake out eventually but I can sympathize with people who don't like the Incarnate raids. They are not the same as Task/Strike Forces or any other content which you have to group up for. Even fighting Hamidon is more forgiving. Then again my negative reaction to them is probably just because I suck at them and hate the immersion ruining business of having some guy barking orders in my ear while playing.
  17. So they are really going to destroy my favorite starting zone? That's about right for where this game has been going lately. Incarnate trials and now F2P are making this a game I don't recognize anymore.

This is a direct copy/paste of a 40-50 Tip mission, as told by a disembodied narrator about the player (you) as narrative. Now re-read that as a statement coming from the character, and written as though in a journal. I'll swap just a single word (well, two words, technically) to do this.

See what I mean? Not only does the language come off significantly less clunky, it actually also carries quite a bit more weight as a basic statement, not to mention how much more personal it sounds.
Can't you just solve the problem by leaving out the personal pronoun altogether so it would read thusly?:

This seems like better writing to me and leaves it up to the readers to decide if they feel sad or if that is just a judgment by a third party narrator with whom they don't agree. Frankly, the whole last sentence seems awkward in the way it uses the verb "blinded" to do a lot of heavy lifting all by its lonesome. I'd put it more like this:

    Quote:
Sadly, he has been so blinded by his anger at the system that he's resorted to acting as judge, jury, and executioner.
  19. It keeps getting better. When I did finally break down and call the customer support phone number I got a recorded message saying that they won't deal with people getting locked out of their accounts over the phone. I really have stopped being angry at this point and am just admiring the totality of the clusterfrak. Think there's any chance NCsoft will pay for my long distance charges?
  20. I have come to believe that this all must be some preemptive elaborate April Fool's joke that has gotten out of hand. As many other posters have experienced, once I finally got customer support to believe I wasn't a criminal they sent me that link to change my password and security questions but of of course as soon as I do then log out and back in to test it I get the error messages and no matter how carefully I fill out the CAPTCHA form (I know I had the answers to the security questions right!). Feeling suicidal I went ahead and tried it five times but failed each time and got locked out of my account yet again.

There's no way I can remain a customer if they don't roll this back. It's just too much stress and hassle in order to play a silly game.
  21. It's not going well for me either. After finally realizing that I had to create a new email account in order to send in a message to support they send me back a very unhelpful reply asking for more information which I made clear I don't have already and wanted to know if I had access to my other email account that their own system doesn't seem to recognize. I thinks I may be done with NCsoft for good.
  22. That non-toll free phone number they provide for billing support is no help either. Who is gonna call long distance just to be put on hold for who knows how long?
  23. Talk about frustrating. I don't remember my stupid password hints from years ago and although I tried contacting support it won't let me do that either since it says I need a separate account to do that but that my email address is already in the system even though I don't remember ever using one and nothing happens when I try to get it to send me an email with my new password so I can start the whole bloody thing over again. For all I know it's trying to send me an email to an old address which is long defunct. That would make as much sense as any of the rest of this crap.
  24. I (Sergeant Grim) thought it might be a cool idea if we got back together in honor of I19 coming out with all it's inherent Fitness and Incarnate goodness. Send me a private message or respond here if anybody is interested so we can set up the time and details. Would be great fun to run the Incarnate intro arc or LGTF, ITF, Apex, Tin Mage, etc. with the old gang.
  25. We still don't have it as bad as Defenders by a long shot.

In all seriousness, I've been running solo +1/+4 missions in the RWZ since I19 (musculature boost ftw!) was released and seem to do alright although needing help from inspirations quite a bit and my build is by no means uber in terms of IO sets. Still faceplanting some but half the fun of a PB is the ability to shrug off death like it's nothing.
