You might be right there. I think I'll choose a lot of attacks and try them out as much as I can, with just the bare bones from the SR side of things up until 24 where I'll respec into something more sensible.
-
Frostwork heals 40% (of your hp) has 60s recharge and lasts 120s, according to my character builder thingy. Seems like a great power, and personally I'd try to take it sooner. Maybe instead of tp foe (evil, cheap power *spits*) or snowstorm. 3 heals and 3 recharge in that power would make it pretty darn good to have.
Also, no bitter freeze ray? Madness I say! Although, looks like you've got a case too many good powers, not enough powers or slots to do it all with. Cold is a nice looking set. -
Nice guide there...
But [pedant=on] you mention that three slotting doubles effectiveness of the defences. Unfortunatly, defence is obviously far too good, so it is only +20% per SO, totaling +60% [/pedant]
-
I've gone and refined the build somewhat, after reading what you all said. The only problem I have with this now is that until lvl 18 I only have 2 attacks and one of those is slow to recharge (spin, which some say is pants, but at least the animation is good). It might end up being a respec to this build at 24, just to fit more attacks in at lower levels to make things more fun.

I feel your pain, I really do. To begin with I went with the doctrine that the minions are the safest to leave standing a long time, so greened those guys up. In big AoE groups they went down too fast, so I started putting them on Lts and Bosses, but certain ATs just tend to gravitate towards those, so they often go down fast too.
These days I either put the debuff directly on particularly nasty boss types, or a Lt waaay at the back of the group of mobs. The only way I've found to make sure the anchor dies last is to team with a bunch of people you know really well or are very experienced. It gets better later in the game for sure, so just persevere -
Try to work in stamina as close to 20 as you can, and 3 slot it, it really helps and will allow you to put recharge reducers into powers, rather than end reducers. You seem to have taken a whole bunch of travel powers, so take some of them away when you decide what you want.
If you want to PvP, you'll need 2 acc. in your attacks. -
[ QUOTE ]
Brilliant Irradiator, this'll come in handy for my bubbler.
So I'm guessing you could alter this to perform an entire attack chain? ¬¬
[/ QUOTE ]
Remember, I didn't come up with this! I think Jetstream (posts as Starfox) came up with this in the first place and understands the slash command system pretty well.
I know this method doesn't work with attacks for whatever reason. -
More importantly the flamethrowers? Bah! :P
They do slow DoT - wouldn't you rather they used they used rockets instead? -
Not gonna read the whole thread, but really, it sounds like you were killed by a whole bunch of guys, using one as bait. Quite smart I think!
What do you want, a counter to a whole team? Because when a team decides to kill one person, you'll be lucky if you get away alive. I think it has very little to do with the fact they were all stalkers and more to do with the fact that you faced a team.
If you had a team of your own it would most likely been quite different. -
AHhh, it can be done, but requires some tricky stuff - check this out
/bind B "+down$$-down$$powexec_name Deflection Shield$$bind_load_file <filepath>\bubble-1.txt"
Then you need to save two files at <filepath>, bubble-0.txt and bubble-1.txt
bubble-0.txt
B "+down$$-down$$powexec_name Deflection Shield$$bind_load_file <filepath>\bubble-1.txt"
bubble-1.txt
B "+down$$-down$$powexec_name Insulation Shield$$bind_load_file <filepath>\bubble-0.txt"
This is for the defender/MM bubbles, but can easily be adapted for the others.
In no way do I take credit for this - it was, I think, Jetstream from my SG who came up with it. -
Well, I went with Hasten cos I wanted SS and whirlwind (just cos I've never used that one before). I sure as hell ain't getting flurry! Maybe, just maybe I'll go for SJ, but I've got that on a lot of characters already. I'll fit combat jump in somewhere, the extra defence is nice and jumpness is good for a guy called Lions Claw. Maybe I won't slot hasten and put those slots to use elsewhere, like PB (nice tip there Syn, never though about stacking it).
I really really like spin, animation is top, and the damage isn't horrible for an AoE
And lastly, forget about the epic powers, the chance of this guy getting that far, ever, is very remote.
Thanks for the responses, gave me some good tips and all that.
Just one more thing - no-one thinks using follow-up like that is a silly idea? Seems good to me, but having to do the attack every 12s might [censored] up my DPS due to the long animation times. I've not actually got far enough to try it out yet. -
Ice primary! It's actually relativly good, and looks super cool.
As for secondary, get stone, SS, fire or if you want to do odd things, Ice. The melee weapon ones all seem a tad naff. -
You heard! The first bot upgrade gives the assbot the cool Double Hyper Mega Laser Blast and that's great, but it also gives the horrible rubbish pants damage, massive animation time flamethrower, which it always uses when it gets in range. I believe the assbot would be better off using is pretty nice single target laser blast and the rockets. Whachoo think?
-
I have RI slotted 3 tohit debuff, 1 def debuff and 2 recharge. EF is 3 end and 2 recharge. Get them both as soon as you can, they're you best tools!
You'll find they go down a lot when you fight mezzers, and it becomes really frustrating!
You could probarbly forget about x-ray beam, mind you it does have a huge cool factor!
Lingering radiation is super super awesome, and deserves 6 slots! 2 acc, 2 slow, 2 recharge.
If you're gonna use choking cloud it needs slotting for hold, otherwise don't bother, it's an aggro magnet.
Fallout is pants, too situational, unless you have a friend who doesn't mind faceplanting on demand. Put those slots into EMP, 1 acc, 3 hold, 2 rech. For PvP, a neat trick with EMP is to slot for end mod instead of hold.
Mutation is good straight out of the bag - stick with one slot, recharge.
Hum, that's it, hope it helps! -
I found I had an excess of slots and powers towards the end. It's unlikely that the build will be getting anywhere near the epics, so that part is just academic.
3 slotted hurdle might be useful, since I've only got SS, but with some of the junk I took maybe I could fit SJ in there too. -

To put it bluntly, if the single bubbles aren't for you, you've got the wrong powerset. They provide the bulk of the assistance you can provide to your minions and teammates; and any MM secondary is primarily there to buff the minions.
Can you manage without them? Sure. But it might be best to pick something better suited to your playing style.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree - I rarely used mine from 25 onwards, unless I'm going up against an AV. You can easily live without them, but it has to be said, what else are you going to get? A couple of times I just couldn't decide what power to pick, so just went for something silly. If I didn't get the little bubbles, that would be 2 more power choices that I have no idea what to do with. -
Yes yes, I know... barring the fact that they both ain't super hot, what you think?

Thanks for all the replies!
From what everyone's said, Claws looks like a bit of a black art! I think I'll just take whatever catches my eye then sort it out properly later with a respec -
Force Bolt is awesome - you can lock down an elite boss with it if you've got them up against a wall. Also drops toggles in PvP, very nice
The little bubbles are kinda cool, but these days I don't bother with them on the bots.
Dispersion bubble - mezz protection for you and everything in it! Some nice defence too.
PFF - whoa, this is great! PvP, it's excellent, and ambushes in PvE where the whole ambush goes for you and can't be pulled off. Get it and love it.
Repulsion Field should be good for PvP, since it can drop toggles and keep melee away from you, but also force bubble can do that too, without the toggle drop.
All in all, I'd say it's a set with subtle strengths. -

I agree... about two holds and I'm held through Unyielding. Yay.

I've had plenty of problems with trollers (or ice blast types) cos I play squishies for the most part, but man, that officially sucks! Real shame that inspirations are the only way to deal with them, and even then they can just slap some sort of debuff(s) on you can pretty much take you out of the fight.
Nerf trollers! -
I went for something like that in the end - this build goes out to 37. I will most likely throw at least 3 slots at taunt , taking them away from... something that's coming up soon. Thanks for the input, was good guidance

Yep, our old friend Gargantuman. I got him up to 34 I think, before I got bored - he became very very uber in the late 20s last time I played him, back in I4 days.
-
Currently really tempted to dust off my old Inv/SS tank for some fun, and he really really needs a respec. Since I'm at work, I can't do it myself, so I want your suggestions! The brief is that it I love the aggro, and want it to be possible to PvP with, to that end I imagine that powers like knockout blow and hurl taken early would be handy tools, as well as the usual defensive powers.
Suggestions folks? -
It's looking like Irradiator will be there in all his glowyness
