Did you-? Naw, you couldn't have asked for logic from a JJ Abrams show! Surely you know better.

If you don't include beating their kids, they're kind of pacifistic. One biker gang could dominate the entire Amish population of America.

  5. A lot of the stuff we already know, because CoH has it. What we need is MORE of it, or to have it tweaked.

However, if it's a twitch game with controller-type combos, count me out. As well as virtually all of your other over-35 gamers. You know, the ones with the most discretionary income who are more loyal than youngsters.

Solo-friendly as well as easy-to-make teams the way we have it here is a must. I play casually and like to pretend that my character is experiencing his own story so I rarely team, but I do like to do it. I like the mix we have here. Also the way mission difficulty scales up and down when you add or subtract people.

No raids. Hate them. I realize others love them, but this is just my opinion. No PvP unless you're building it in at the very beginning and everyone is exactly equal. The reason FPS multiplayer is so popular is because all the guns are the same and the power-ups are of limited, temporary benefit.

I love CoH's UI. Easily one of the best ever. I realize WoW allows you to customize it, but I don't find that one as easy to use. (Or didn't, back when I tried it.) Champions shows you how NOT to do it.

Can I come visit? Netflix finally got the last two seasons of Primeval and I thoroughly enjoyed them, but I was left wanting more. We don't get PNW down here.
  7. I really liked the first episode of Arrow, far more than I thought I would. I was out of town last week so recorded ep2 and haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
  8. I'm definitely interested as I did play Wing Commander back in the day. (And let's face it, for all their derivation of the Kzin, "Kilrathi" is a cool name.) I'm worried he might be biting off more than he can chew, though. But dang if those videos don't look pretty.
  9. Is it just me or does the concept art look like it was made in 1987? With Ron Perlman in the back of the one.

It just baffles me that you'd design a system like this if you knew you were making a DC comic book game.
If you ignore the outer appearance of the world in DCUO, what you're left with is a Fantasy MMO. All of the exact mechanics aside from the travel options are direct ports from Fantasy games. Item decay, having to buy things from vendors, static wars, raids... they didn't look at superhero comics and say "How can we make this into a game?" They went, "How can we re-skin a generic fantasy game with superhero clothes?"

Considering that all the main DCUO developers are veterans of generic inside-the-box fantasy MMOs, it's not surprising that's how it turned out.

I'm positive there's a bug with that, though. As we discussed in another thread last month, some of my characters were said to have played in the 3-4,000-hour range, which is quite literally impossible.

Put it this way: if you work a standard 40-hour workweek with two weeks off for vacation every year, that's 2,000 hours a year. All in all, I've been an active subscriber for about 5 years since beta. If I played 40 hours a week for 5 years, that would be 10,000 hours. And there's no freakin' way I've played that many hours. I'm lucky to get 7 or 8 hours a week. I think I've played all of 10 hours in the past two months.

I meant that he *looks* that way. Every version of the story I've ever encountered makes the Beast hideous. The Disney version made him too attractive in my opinion, but allowances are made for it being a children's musical.

This one sounds more like Jekyll & Hyde. (Or Hulk, as noted above, but Hulk was just a superheroized J&H.) I vaguely recall a 1950s/1960s werewolf horror-movie version, but I may be misremembering it. I still say this misses the point of the original story, where a bad man becomes good and finds love in the redemption. Not a pretty boy with anger management issues.

But if you like it, that's cool.
  13. My favorite take on this -- and I really do love it -- is that every episode starts with Coulson's death scene and then we see the super: TWO YEARS EARLIER.

    Love.

Yeah, Unleashed is way too douchey, and if you disagree with Westley or the other admins, they beat you down.

  16. The new Beast is essentially a frat boy who is one kegger away from date ****. Kind of misses the entire point of the story.

I've listed some of the main reasons why ME3 sucks earlier in this thread so I won't rehash them, but the extended cut does nothing for the game at all.

Here's how the story arc should go in ME3, with ever-increasing stakes:
    Code:
                           /\
                     ___/ \
               ___/ \
              / \__
    _____/
    Here's how it actually goes:
    Code:
    __
       \
        \
         \ /\
          \____/\___/\___/\__/ \
                                           \___
As someone noted in their review of the game, the ending hijacks your character and lobotomizes them. The extended version of that does nothing to alleviate the plot holes.

The only way you could be more wrong about that is if they stuck you into an electrified Wrongness Machine and turned it two clicks past "Totally Wrong."
  21. So maddening, so saddening.

It really feels like the game was just about to soar into the air with the next couple of issues... and then NCSoft sniped it like heartless bastards.
