Pretty textbook example of entitlement, I'd say.
Not in the way the original response from Jack_noMind was phrased. "Entitled" in common usage (as opposed to the dictionary definition) has come to mean expecting something for nothing, which was the tenor of the response; the "spoiled child throwing a tantrum" effect. Paying customers have a right to request new things. That's why I say we should stop using the word for a while before it loses its actual meaning.

    'X & y & z powers should kill the mob as fast as t & g & I powers. '
Players figured out which power selections worked best and you end up with a player base that were carbon copies of each other. devs would try to 'patch' so after every update, the build of the month changed.
So even if the devs implemented this customization you speak of, you would still be back here complaining about balance.
Not if all the powers did the same damage.

Well, people would still complain, but they wouldn't complain about imbalance.

Yet it's used, abused and overused for situations where it isn't warranted. Such as this one. Soon it will mean nothing, the way "awesome" has lost all its oomph.

And the ranged attacks do add up.

So I withdraw my claim, and have instead a challenge.

For any comic book staples besides punching (super strength, martial arts, or otherwise) list the powerset and name 10 characters in Marvel or DC that use that powerset.
Do we have to limit it just to Marvel and DC? There are more car companies than just Toyota and GM, after all.

    Growth/Shrink
    Ant-Man/Giant Man/Yellowjacket
    Atlas
    The Atom
    Blue Jay/Massive Man
    Elasti-Girl
    Colossal Boy
    Fly
    Giant Man II
    Giganta
    Goliath
    Leviathan
    Micromax
    Mighty Man
    Scintilla
    Stature
    Shrinking Violet
    Wasp

    Self-Duplication
    Copycat
    Dupli-Kate
    Everywhere Man
    Flashback
    Multi-Paul
    Multiple Man
    Multiplex
    Riot
    Schizoid Man
    Silent Majority
    Triplicate Girl/Triad

Which also gives me an idea for a ranged set: Staple Guns.
Unfortunately the range is set at 1 inch.

I think we could solve that by just letting us design our own henchmen. I'd love to do a Russian Doll where each pet is a smaller version of my character, or a Multiple Man character where they're all identical, or a Zookeeper with a bunch of animals, and so on.
  8. Ya know what word needs to go on hiatus from the English language for ten years? "Entitled." Seriously, it's like the hipster go-to to shut down any discussion where someone else asks for something.
  9. RIP Joe. My introduction to Kubert was via Tarzan back in the early 70s.

My thread, I get to extend it.

Also, I had to fight to get the Art section a special dispensation from thread deletion, so I'm going to use it, by gum!

The clumsy grammar is intentional, as if a 12-year-old wrote it. I lost the "kid's voice" framing device but left what "he" wrote, which makes it seem like I don't know muchly how to talk good.

  12. Excellent post.

Why, I recall when we had to sprint to Atlas Park -- and it was uphill! Both ways! You kids today with your fancy flying jetpacks have no idea how hard it was back in the day.

You don't see many bulldogs and AmStaffs doing stuff like that.

Overall it's pretty good. It's not bad from the story side. It has the benefit of condensing the story and taking out the redundant parts. The acting is superb.

I've only seen the first season via Netflix. It is humorous to see people who haven't read the books posting their reactions. The outrage over a certain character's death was hilarious... especially knowing what's going to happen to everyone else.

Maybe I'm just being a stick-in-the-mud, but it always strikes me as the easiest, most boring and unimaginative way to add depth to your story. Every time it comes up I just roll my eyes in frustration.
Stay far away from Game of Thrones, then.

It's a good day for sharing more alts!

My VG Vermin -- Slaughtermouse, Monkeywench, Battlesnake and Varmint -- needed a heavy hitter, so I dusted this bad boy off. Crocogator is character I created way back in the mid-80s and the name has always amused me.

I have a character who at the moment uses a Vanguard (?) katana, which represents her focusing her mental energy into a physical blade. I wanted to have her be mental/ psionic melee and that was as close as I could come. Guess I will be remaking her now... (provided the set is good).
It's a good excuse for another alt, is how I look at it.

Of course, I think any day ending in a Y is a good excuse for another alt. :P
  21. So people can compare against the shiny (heh) case collection, Amazon's page for the Avengers has an excellent table (scroll down) of what each version of the package includes. I wish all releases were so well laid-out so we could make informed choices.
  22. You know, I can't even recall if I have an Electric Blaster left. Surely there must be one, but I'll bet I haven't played him in 6 or 7 years. I seem to recall they were broken in some way... perhaps whatever leeching they did.

Mostly I make Willpower Brutes and Scrappers these days, because they're the most fun to play.

They might as well not bother doing that, then, because 99% of the "offline invite" requests have been by players who want to put a bunch of their alts in the same SG.

I really don't see the issue with it, though. The only thing I can see happening with it is people getting the bonuses for bases. Big whoop. As these discussions keep revealing, bases are broken and hated, and you'd only get enough prestige to buy a lamp to go with your chair. Which you can't even sit on.

I honestly can't even recall the last time I was in any of the bases in any of the SGs I'm in. It has to be at least 3 or 4 years, easily.

For those of us who like creating characters this is very annoying.
So true. A separate issue, perhaps, but so true.

Tangential to bases, however, would be having your offline characters walking around doing stuff in the base. Maybe have some show up on monitors, fighting in space or attending a costume contest in Atlas.
