You can begin to guess or predict a pattern based on two events, but not very accurately.

Remember the old saw: "Once is an accident, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action."

Looking at the average for the fairly consistent numbers between I2 and I5, we were going at a little over three updates a year (117 days per update).
What does all this mean? I have no idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll tell you what it means... that number, 117, has been following me around for more than 25 years. It's getting spooky.
  3. Definitely improving, and really starting to develop your personal style. Keep at it!

    Team Invince

    [ QUOTE ]
I'll say it again, Invincible is not difficult enough. We continue to find it necessary to use 'gimmicks' to increase difficulty that could be addressed by the mission difficulty slider.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've found your experiment to be interesting, if a bit unrealistic when applied to the regular workaday game. Managing to get a solid team to work together for so long is exceedingly rare, and most impressive.

I think one thing that would help in such situations is to put in the equivalent of Voids for each origin or AT. Just one or two per mission set at whatever is the next bump up from Invincible (I've always advocated "Insane") would really level the playing field and increase the degree of difficulty.

That feature would definitely have to be limited to the Insane difficulty. With my usual PuG experience, I'd hate to see the Void-equivalents show up with any regularity. Things that can two- or three-shot a L32 Tank or Scrapper would likely make people quit the game for WoW in droves. It should be reserved for the truly talented or totally crazy.
  5. I think Image Shack has been having server issues the past few days. My own pics have been loading slowly for me. A few refreshes seem to help.

Hmmm .. no comments at all?

I would have liked a ... well something (I won't give you the answers ) ... some opinion on the piece or constructive criticism ... or a simple ... "good for you anyone can do that" ... all good.

Does it at least fit the style? or are there somethings you would have changed?

I could have added more of the dark shadows he has on his organic/stone skin but I thought that would be too much details for the style.

Anyway if you have a sec, a comment would be appreciated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Weird. I commented. No idea why it might get modsmacked. I did say it was "pretty [censored] cool," but it is.

Econ is a waste of your talents. "A penny saved is a penny earned." There, now git drawring!
  8. Hee hee, you spelled it "kumpleet." 'Fess up, you've been itching to do that, haven't you?

Totally awesome pic, by the way, easily your best yet. It exudes malice and menace, and the color scheme is fabulous. The leather does look terrific. Love the little touches like the greenish reflection in GW's breastplate. Really amazing.

That's as good as any genre painting I've ever seen. It belongs in Spectrum 14!

Was it an accident that the thorny vines look like dead sharks? A little inter-Patron rivalry hinted at.
  9. Yes, there are a couple things. First of all, it's not a metal full-face helmet that's colored brown, and the character isn't named Ironik. Other than that, I guess it's okay.
  10. I've been told I'm special. That's what all my friends on the short bus tell me.

What a bizarre skill. Hats off to you.

I discovered in college that I have the ability to write perfectly legibly backwards in the air with a flashlight, a skill that we used when taking time-lapse photographs. You can see a ghostly version of me, with these glowing, floating letters in the air. No idea how I have that ability, and I'm intrigued that it would only be visible through a very specific medium. If I'd lived before the advent of photography, I'd have no idea I even possessed that talent... and I wonder if it would be experessed in some other fashion.

Hmm, I'm wondering if I should tell TP that Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday? Specifically, the fourth Thursday of November.

The storyline for me. I like the feeling that my charecter is part of an epic story.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like the story lines but I didn’t vote for them.

To me there was a huge difference between the way “story lines” were implemented in CoH and CoV.

In CoH the stories were there and through missions you’d learn about the history, stop the bad guys, etc, but when playing the game I felt like I was in *my* character's story. It was the CoH universe and there were big Hero groups like Freedom Corps or the Freedom Phalanx but I was going though *my* story. Sometimes interacting with them, sometimes not. I enjoyed learning the CoH lore, about the CoH universe, and about all the stories embedded in both the story arcs and the other missions.

In CoV, I really felt like I was along for a ride on a railroad doing Lord Recluse’s story. To me, it didn’t feel like my characters were in their own story, it felt like they were a footnote or a foot soldier in the Arachnos and the Lord R. vs the Statesman stories. That difference in flavor between the two really resulted in me enjoying the “style” and the stories of CoV a lot less then the style of CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's my reaction as well. CoH is far more open and therefore waaaay more interesting than CoV from a story perspective. The Patron Powers are a perfect example of what's wrong with the design of CoV: once you choose one, you're locked into it forever, with no way to change your mind.

Not only is that counter to everything else in these games, it's counter to the very idea of villainy. Our characters shouldn't be loyal cannon fodder, they should be out there telling their own tales with their own goals in mind, and sometimes that includes megalomania. As players, we should have the freedom to choose our characters' destinies. If they turn out to be toadies, no problem. But there should at least be the option for them to try to carve out their own little fiefdom in the Rogue Isles.

That's why I chose costumes over story, because half the equation of CoH/V falls flat for me. And this coming from a guy who loves story uber alles.
  14. Oh, I wish I'd thought of that one!

    Using Fraps

You can also get around it by using Zloth's demo editor to dump a bunch of frames from the scene, then piecing them together in Movie Maker or ImageReady. That completely bypasses using Fraps or anything similar.

    wip : nitecrow~

That's pretty good. Might be some confusion between the moon and skin parts, though.

Have you tried splashing the crow's head across her torso and making the moon the bird's eye?

Yeah. Personally I'd steer clear of music, sound effects and long flash transitions too. I like my art sites to be about the art.

  19. There are guides in the Player Guides section -- do a search on "demo edit." here are some I have favorited, but haven't updated the list lately. ("Lately" meaning "over a year.")

    Zloth's FAQ.
    Majik's guide.
    Storm Knight's guide.
    Zloth's page o' goodies.
    Djeannie's in-depth thingy.
  20. Wow... that's a terrific backstory.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I thought I'd post a link up to my current image page of all my characters at login. You'll probably be able to tell quite easily which ones are on my 3rd account which is at the moment CoV only. I better warn those people with dial-up that there is 105 images on that page currently so it might take a while to load.

Curse you, Personamorpher! I was about to do something similar!

    ::: tires easily :::
    ::: sits back down ::::

Actually, my idea is a wee bit different, so I'm still going to do it.

I love Orbital Hammer! Great name, but especially a great look! So simple, but such an awesomely clever way to put it all together!
