After doing several arcs on my brute today & getting my 3 merits for each i have reached a conclusion. The Dev's are nuts. Assume i did 67 arcs, which is what it would take to get 1 high end reciepe at 200 merits. I think its absolutly absurd.
[/ QUOTE ]
Previously, doing arcs would have gotten you ZERO pool C and pool D recipes. Now, after getting 20 merits, you can get a random roll. You are getting something where you previously got NOTHING.
[/ QUOTE ]
That isn't exactly true, many arcs ended with the choice of a DO or SO enhancement. If he's getting 3 merits per arc then the amount of return he is getting per story arc has decrease by more than 50% (SOs are 8).
Though, of course, some arcs give significantly more...
[/ QUOTE ]
The fact that SO's cost 8 merits is utterly absurd and tells us NOTHING about the relative value of the merits. I think I speak both for myself and many others when I say that getting 3 merits is vastly preferable over getting an SO. -

Objective:
Farmers just farm merits now, and casual players have to grind.
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently, a lot of people don't know the meaning of the word 'objective'. Not only is this ENTIRELY subjective, it is simplistic exaggeration. -
[ QUOTE ]
The Merit System Lacks Real Control!
Sure, you can get the particular recipie. But you have zero control over the actual level.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you have it backwards. When you roll RANDOMLY, you can't control the level. When you buy a specific recipe, you can choose the EXACT level. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's not like it got easier to do the TF / SF's with now even less people playing due to the exit of so many subscribers to the game....
[/ QUOTE ]
Completely wrong. Firstly, there has not been an "exit of so many subscribers", unless by "so many" you actually mean some small number.
Secondly, lots of people want merits and TF's are the way to get them. There are lots more TF's being done on my server for sure. I can't speak for your server, but I can't imagine it would be dramatically different. -

* Story Arcs should reward their merits for the whole team, not just the owner (rewards teaming)
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that the current system is a problem in that it discourages teaming. However, the apparent simple fix is not the answer as it would be easily abused as follows:
A group of friends all get the same arc and solo it to the last mission. Then they cycle thru each persons final mission and collect the arc bonus repeatedly. I think the solution would be to scatter the merit rewards throughout the arc, rather than in a pile at the end. -

Empowerment Stations
Yes I know empowerment stations were not on your list (which is telling) but ...
The change from Base Salvage to Invention Salvage makes these devices close to useless.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
My suggested solution to these problems would be to allow a one for one convertion of Invention salvage into "generic" items like "Tech Material" and "Tech Power" or the Arcane equivalent. Then each buff recipe would be made up of between 1 & 3 of these generic components.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll refrain from quoting your entire post even though it was right on the money. Regarding the solution, previously the empowerment buffs used something we had in massive quantities. What if they changed the empowerment stations to run off BRAINSTORMS? Give us the ability to convert invention salvage into brainstorms and have the empowerment station costs all be varying amounts of brainstorms, based on the usefulness of the buff. Set the 'exchange rate' of invention salvage to brainstorms such that you can't do 'round trips' to make a profit.
Having the buffs require 3 different random salvage items is nuts. It is just super inconvenient. Especially since invention salvage storage is so small - you are extremely unlikely to have all 3 items lying around.
Since they went to the trouble of creating brainstorms, why don't they make them something that will be around a while, rather than a temporary conversion currency. -

One last thing for the love of gawd please reduce the diminishing returns timer down to 20 hour or even 22 hours. I am having all kinds of hell trying to remember what time I finished which tf with what character. It would just be better if If I could do it around the same time and not have to know the exact time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, seriously. Can we get some movement on this? Particularly since, in his first Q&A thread, Synapse said:
[ QUOTE ]
Were aware of the issue and why this would be important to players. Well be looking at this and well try and find a fair solution in the near future. Reducing the timer to 18-20 hours does not sound unreasonable.

The Eden Trial awards 2 merits. Merits are awarded immediately upon completion, rather than mission exit or calling the contact. So it seems that you got the reward and the Titan does not award merits.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what the Eden Trial is worth. The Titan is a "Monster", not a "Giant Monster", and as such is not worth any merits.
[/ QUOTE ]
However, the Arachnos Flyer in the STF *DOES* give 2 merits (and since it respawns, you can farm it - for 6 merits an hour). I wonder if both are working as intended, or if one is bugged. -
[ QUOTE ]
Bug Description: Released the captured Heroes then destroyed the Crystal Titan. 2 Merits were awarded for the Titan, none for the Trial. Exited mission, still no merits, called contact, still no merits.

We are a laid back group of players who only have 3 rules:
1) Run in SG mode to Level 24.
2) Treat Everyone in the SG and/or VG with courtesy.
3) Have Fun
[/ QUOTE ]
OMG! All these rules! Such repression! -

To Ironblade: Eden gets completed in 10-15 minutes on average, no typo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I don't believe this. I've done with this with different people, different SG's, etc and have never done it that fast. Not even close. I don't believe that many people are 'speed running' it when I know so many people who consider it the best TF/trial in the game and take their time. -

Your wish is granted! They can handle two. -

Trust us, its coming; were working on it and theres more great stuff coming (like you havent heard that before, but really, we mean it!)

Do we need to put a trademark symbol after that? Ya know, like people have started doing with 'Soon'. -

My initial reaction was "we have a rip-off SG name"......
Oh, and it's good that you didn't criticize spelling. It's 'punctuation'.

Whatever do you mean? Looks alright to me... Are you hacking my posts?

Plus, it was pretty pointless to begin with.

I think it's Base Builders Inc. (with the period at the end). I'm not positive but, since there's a global search function, that gets you close enough.
-
[ QUOTE ]
The only thought I'd add, as a small and relatively inexperienced base builder myself, is if you want a vault in there it requires power (don't recall it needing control) which in turn requires at least the combo power and control unit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course, the Vault doesn't actually add any storage. It just gives you remote access to the storage space already assigned to your character which is already accessible at the Vault Storage locations (in various zones and Pocket D). -
Gee, it sounds cool.
Unfortunately:
The connection has timed out
The server at img184.imageshack.us is taking too long to respond.
Been getting that for over half an hour. -

HOLY CRAP.

Congratulations. I just read the info on Issue 12 and the 2nd post in the thread precisely expounded my initial reaction. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry but that is unacceptable to just tell people to suck it up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, "suck it up" is rather harsh-sounding, but the thought is valid.
Long-term customers are rewarded for their patronage. Common COMMON practice. Widely accepted and generally very popular with the customers. Does it make everyone happy? No, of course not. Nothing makes everyone happy. -
Well, I think a major portion of the issues you cite would be addressed by either having a useful instruction manual or a lot more hand-holding / explanation at lower levels. The manual was not very good to start with and is now woefully out of date. CoH pretty much throws you into the deep end of the pool and shouts, "Swim!" In the absence of a manual, make some friends who can explain things.
I think the next biggest issue needs a change in you. I don't understand why you are so fixated on the vet rewards and have such a negative impression. This kind of practice, rewarding loyal customers, has been tested and proven for a long time across countless industries. It works for bowling alleys, office supply stores, video rentals, etc. Works great for online games, too.
As for the wedding pack, yeah, I think that was kind of dopey too. Luckily for me, it has stuff I consider useless so I have no inclination to buy it and don't miss it. It definitely rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, though.
Overall, this is not a simple game for the casual gamer. The real appeal is to comic/superhero fans. Fans will struggle past the poor documentation.
