Maybe I'll have an easier time getting to 35+ if I am able to purchase some Justice people who can do the work for me at an auction type thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think they made buying people illegal. -

This argument about the "casual player" and "enjoying the game" doesn't work, unfortunately. The "casual player" doesn't care about IOing their toon with the best stuff available. As soon as they do, they're no longer a "casual player" and need to take steps to work toward their goal instead of expecting it to be handed to them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, some people comprehend this, including the devs. I recall BAB's priceless line to someone in another forum, "Did you just use the words 'casual player' and 'purple out my warshade' in the same sentence?" -
[ QUOTE ]
I thought this system was supposed to help me, the casual player, instead it favors the farmers. I see the potential, but the merit costs are too high, and the pools are too confusing. It needs to be cheaper and simplified.
[/ QUOTE ]
I keep seeing lines like this, about how the system favors the farmers. Do people seriously not understand that *ANY* system "favors the farmers"? If a TF drops a random recipe, the farmers will run it 10 times a day. If you need merits, the farmers will do what brings in a lot of merits. If you buy things with influence, the farmers will clear maps for influence.
THERE IS NO WAY AROUND THIS! Whatever is necessary to earn rewards, the 'evil nasty farmers' will do it. Any system that "favors the casual player" will simply be used by the farmers who expend 10 times as much effort on it and therefore get 10 times the reward.
By the way, I do agree that merit prices are too high. A LITTLE too high. People calling for reductions by a factor of 5 or 10 are nuts. I think prices need to be reduced by a third, or perhaps by half. -

Dont like farming Posi? Make it so we dont HAVE to. I would like to be able to run a few story arcs and have everything I need to purp out my 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a completely delusional fantasy.
[ QUOTE ]
I would also like to be able to shut off my inf, not just my xp, and earn triple prestige. I would also like the exchange rate for buying prestige to be uh...more economically viable.
[/ QUOTE ]
This, on the other hand, is basically a good idea. I would love to be able to choose to earn zero influence and extra prestige. -

We were told of the change AND they confirmed it was not an error.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, we were told of the change almost two months after
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, so we WERE told, just like I said.
[ QUOTE ]
The error here was that whoever chose to change the status of this badge did so thinking that the players would meekly accept it. In your case, it appears they were right.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, get over it. I'm just tired of the astonishing amount of whining over this item. -

I'm also buying a new desktop PC, mine is about 6 years old and I've been keeping it going with upgrades, but it's time for a new one with one of those fancy new processors

Yeah, won't it be great not having to feed that hamster any more? -
If it's so obvious to you, why did you jump on the bandwagon?

Chat tells are still being eaten be the system.
The friends window still keeps popping up if it's not docked to the chat tabs.
Nice to see that massive and game breaking issues like that badge were given the attention they deserved instead of these things that are actually IMPORTANT...
[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously, why are you wasting everyones time with a post like this? Isn't it PATENTLY OBVIOUS that those things must not be simple to fix?? Do you think the programmers sat down and said, "Hey, let's fix some dopey stuff instead of easy things that affect everyone." -
[ QUOTE ]
I think the devs should at least have the guts to come here and stand up for their own decision. They're welcome to not change it over all the objections, but the silence in the face of all the questions is just rude.
[/ QUOTE ]
With all due respect, your $15 per month doesn't give you the right to demand explanations from the management. We were told of the change AND they confirmed it was not an error.
It seems pretty obvious to me that this ties into some future development and their longstanding policy is to tell NOTHING about future developments too far in advance. I really think you should expect only silence on this. -
[ QUOTE ]
And BABs or Castle posted an explanation of this a while ago is that the rule of 5 is not by the numerical benefit but by the name of the benefit.
So if 7.5% recharge normally is named "Moderate Recharge" (I don't recall the real name), the LotG 7.5% is called a different name so they do not overlap.
Which makes it very hard to explain to people too. It's not like we know which ones say "tiny" versus "small" versus "minor" and so on. We just know the numbers 1%, 1.5%, 2%, etc. So when they name the same % with 2 different names it just creates confusion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, in this case, we do. The Luck of the Gambler recharge bonus has 'Luck of the Gambler' in the name. -

I'm usually in your camp on many things, but how is this not exploitive PowerLeveling for a fee?
[/ QUOTE ]
In fairness...that is exactly what is happening ingame now. If you go to PI on Freedom, people are paying 1-2 million per fun on farms.
[/ QUOTE ]
We can buy fun directly now?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, but it's faster and easier to get it by sploitz and h4x. -
[ QUOTE ]
*most* fights we could win against +6s also, but it was dramatically slower and completely unworth it. (In fact, since XP gains cap at +5, it is certainly unworth it!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you sure about that? Certainly if the level spread of the TEAM is more than 5, you have a problem, but I was under the impression that someone facing +6 enemies would get more XP than if they were facing +5's. -
When you say you "look and the temporary power is gone", are you talking about the power icon on your display or the power itself? Day Job powers have their own section in the Powers window and you have to drag the power from the window to your tray.

I've purchased 982 level 25 IOs so I can just shoot shoot shoot

ahhh..... Now we know why there is a shortage of everything on the market! -

On to the TFS .. I did the Katie Hannon TF last weekend and forget exactly how many merits it paid off but due to the constant speed TFs it has always spawned it wasn't much (I am almost sure THAT was 2 merits as well). Prior to that I'd completed the first story arc in Croatoa and got 7 merits (or maybe 8) for it. Yes I understand everyone stealths KHTF but in that FIRST mission you have to defeat Mary 10 times. That's 10 AVs that gradually get higher in level until your battling a 37 level AV by the 10th time. Somehow getting 2 merits for defeating 10 Arch villians just doesn't seem quite right when I can get 7 or 8 for a couple of hunts and a few door missions. Heck Dave Wincott's arc in the Hollows pays out 2 merits and its 4 missions long (2 hunts and 2 doors). Okay so Katie doesn't rate 40 or 50 merits like some of the longer TFs but for goodness sake ... 10 Arch Villians in one mission rates a little higher than 2! Can we do a bit of re-evaluating there as well please? LOL
[/ QUOTE ]
The Katie TF awards 7 merits and it can easily be done in 35 minutes. That award is right on target, based on their stated guidelines.
I agree Lusca is broken and some of the 'marquee' TFs are awarding too little. -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree with Miladys. As a more casual player, merits have all but stalled my IO progression. I have to play 10-12 TFs to get ONE IO that I need without having to spend 10-12 Mil influence at WW. For a casual player who only gets to play 2-3 times a week and may get in a TF or two it does make things a lot harder than it was before.
[/ QUOTE ]
I see a lot of comments like this but I don't see how you draw these conclusions. Previously, you would get random recipe drops. Now, you can buy random drops. Unless you were speed-running Katie or Eden, there hasn't been some massive nerf to the rate of obtaining random recipes. -
[ QUOTE ]
One thing, I don't see your solution doing, though, is fixing the problem you talk about, the market dying. It just is about getting more merits to avoid the market.
So, here's my suggestion...every time a TF or SF or trial is finished, a random roll recipe is added to the appropriate market. So people finish a Positron, a recipe is added to Wentworths from the 10-14 pool. It's priced at what a vendor would pay for the recipe. Level of the recipe is the top of the TF range.
[/ QUOTE ]
O.O
That's a novel idea. All the people 'grinding' TF's for merits will simultaneously be adding to the market volume even if they don't sell anything directly. I don't see any method for exploiting this, either, since the drop goes to the market. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ran my Blaster with a team earlier in the evening for most of level 45 (8 bubbles worth), faced 3 AVs (Bobcat, Shadowhunter and one other I've forgotten) on someone else's arc. Got zero merits, of course. Total merits on that character: 4.
[/ QUOTE ]
It occurs to me:
1) AV's drop an SO when you defeat them.
2) The merit vendor charges 8 merits for an SO.
3) Why don't AV's drop merits? Certainly 8 would be out of line (and an SO costing 8 merits is completely absurd anyway) but if GM's drop merits, why don't AV's drop any? -
[ QUOTE ]
Remember that there are two types of gamers who play CoH/CoV.
Those who like to:
* farm, power level, badge hunt, accolade hunt, [censored] and abuse every kind of possible aspect of the game to further themselves.
* people who take it easy, go through the game to level at their leisure. Etc. etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Firstly, WAY over-simplified. Everyone is either an easy-going player or an exploiting weasel, eh?
Secondly, you're not describing two types of players, you're describing two extremes on a spectrum.
[ QUOTE ]
The IO set should be hard to get, farming 24 times isn't hard but is a bit tedious when it's the same mission over and over and over. ((Hint Hint: Add other missions...))
[/ QUOTE ]
Or even have ANY mission during the winter event drop a single candy cane (or two). -
[ QUOTE ]
I contacted Bonkers via PM and I might try and work out another option so I can take Bonkers money as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, that sounds really bad. -
Objective: The Winter Lord will sometimes despawn in the middle of a fight. This will happen even if he was never 'left unattended' (i.e. our team spawned him and immediately attacked). Our damage output was relatively low (it was two teams of 12 emps total). To be sure it wasn't just a fluke, we tried a second time and had the exact same thing happen. It did not occur to me to time it.
(FYI, we tried a 3rd time and succeeded with the exact same teams.) -
[ QUOTE ]
That's what I said, it never goes below the number (regardless of how many quit).
[/ QUOTE ]
We understood what you said, but it doesn't work that way. It works EXACTLY as I described it. If you start Posi with 4 and 2 quit, it will spawn for TWO, not three (which is the minimum to start). -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
just did posi again for the first time since the change to minimum team size was changed for the spawns... and it is not solo friendly anymore....
I still hate this tf and 55 merits is not enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
What change to spawns?
[/ QUOTE ]
For example, if you had 4 people on the team and all but one logged out, the missions would spawn for one person. NOW, in that situation, the missions will spawn for FOUR.
Therefore, when soloing Positron, it will always be spawning for two people since if the other person quit the TF it would disband. Previously, if they all logged out, it would spawn for just one. Under the new system, the spawn size only is reduced when people QUIT the TF. -
[ QUOTE ]
In the old system, you could score 50 million in one 20-30 minute katie task force.
[/ QUOTE ]
On what planet? Your numbers are off by a factor of more than 10. -
[ QUOTE ]
As I see it Merit "rewards" are just another penalty that discourages me from playing, and certainly from paying to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
So to keep my business I have to be able to get on, play, and actually accomplish something in a short amount of time.
That cuts out Taskforces in general, which advertise that you need a number of hours to play through them even after getting a group together. And now I need those task forces to get merits?
[/ QUOTE ]
Once again, we have a comment that mystifies me. You say you were never doing task forces anyway. So if you wanted 'special' recipes, I guess you either had to buy them at Wentworths or do without them.
But now, you are able to earn merits FROM OTHER SOURCES, like regular mission arcs (which you said you solo anyway) and Flashback arcs.
So you now have the opportunity to get the 'task force recipes' when previously you had NO chance to get them. I'm not following; how does this discourage you from playing?
