  1. The 'destroy objects' neither glow nor make noise. If I had to guess, I would say it's because they're far easier to find, since you can target them just by hitting Tab.
  2. That is true of quite a few of the taunt aura powers. I seem to recall there was a specific reason why it was done, but I can't tell you what it was. Some taunt auras will still take taunt sets, but most of them won't.

When Im playing my Tank I tell people on the team that I am set up as more of a Damage Oriented build than for Herding up the room (it's Fire/Fire)

    [/ QUOTE ]
OMG, you have a different style of build/play and you WARNED people about it? What's wrong with you? You should do like the invuln I teamed with who INSISTED she could herd (Shadowhunter's wolves) and died again and again because she had skipped Temporary Invulnerability.

When we explained the usefulness of Temp Invuln, her response was:
    "I'm not a noob!"
    <faceplant>
  4. [ QUOTE ]
But we can't get rid of buffs, can we? I mean, the only way for you to lose a click buff is to die, and that incurs debt, plus for an Invulnerability Scrapper, it's also not very easy to achieve against smaller spawns. Then it occurred to me: Self Destruct! This power kills me without giving me any debt, it does so in just 10 seconds AND, through whatever bug they decided to leave in there, I can Awaken from it, clean of all dastardly effects.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Interestingly, though, dying will *NOT* remove the Mystic Fortune buff from you. Not that I was trying to get rid of it - I just happened to die and noticed I still had it.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Although, if you look at Hover it still says that it takes Defensive sets although the only one Defense set I see that gives knockback protection is Karma. unfortunately it just causes 4 points of knockback resistance. whatever that is.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's a measure of knockback power, just like holds have magnitude.
Acrobatics gives 9 points of resistance, of which I think two are enhanceable.

    Payoff Badge

    [ QUOTE ]
(Or, did I hear wrong about what it does? I just need to know what exactly it does, because I'm not exactly the badge hunter so I'm not gonna spend 1,000 tickets on it when it does nothing real special )

    [/ QUOTE ]
Then we're saving you 1,000 tickets. That badge does nothing except provide amusement.

Tommorrow, May 25, is a US holiday - does anyone know if the regular server maintenance still happens on holidays, or does it get postponed until the next day, like my garbage pick up?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The last time we had a Monday holiday, they did maintenance on Tuesday. The last time we had a Friday holiday, they did maintenance on Thursday.

    I'm hopeful.

The techs can rebuild towers though, so you have to make sure you kill the last of the techs present at whatever tower you just killed.

As far as I know though, once a tower and any techs associated with it are dead, no MORE techs will respawn.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Probably true, *BUT* the techs can rebuild ANY tower. If you're fighting a tower and someone uses a knockback power to keep the techs away, they can get blasted over by another tower and rebuild a different one.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Flyer: We defeated the flyer, and it respawned within seconds. Defeated it again, same result.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Could be a bug, or just really bad timing for you. It's on a fixed respawn timer (20 minutes). It will respawn at its starting point (near Recluse) regardless of what is happening or what you're doing. Is it possible you just happened to defeat it almost exactly 20 minutes apart?

    [ QUOTE ]
Towers: None of us had seen this before. Once down, the towers would be re-built by the techs. I knew they could repair damaged ones, but we've never seen them rebuild them before. Also they always rebuilt the orange tower in the wrong spot.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They've always been able to rebuild a destroyed tower. However, I've never seen them put one in the wrong spot.
  10. I don't think this is a 'problem' but simply a result of how Ouroboros works. As Doc said, Ouroboros will automatically exemp you if you are of a certain level. If I recall correctly (I'm not certain as I haven't tested this in detail), it works as follows:
Say you want to play a level 30-35 arc. Assuming you are solo, it won't allow you to do so unless you are 35 or higher. If you are 36 or higher, you will be auto-exemplared and get no XP. So you have a narrow window of being able to earn XP. It might not even let you start it unless you are OVER 35... (someone will surely come along to let us know).

At any rate, the main use of Ouroboros is to do missions you 'missed' by outleveling them. If you're solo or the leader, it's a lousy way to get XP. If you're NOT the leader, using the aforementioned 30-35 arc, anyone level 30 or higher can join and get XP normally.

Purist - Definition: A CoX player who gets all secondary and primary powers, along with two powers from a travel pool and four APP/PPP's.

I just have a thing for a full set. Is this bad idea? Both in general, and on an Elec/Dev/MM blaster?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Okay, so you've created your own definition of the word. I don't care for the use of word 'purist' as it sounds like it's making some sort of claim regarding the quality/usefulness/effectiveness of the build. This is simply one viable option among many.

You can build the character however you want. There is a huge number of possible combinations that work. Personally, I have yet to find a combination of primary and secondary where I feel that every single power is better than the options available from the power pools. Having said that, build how you like. I have characters without the Fitness pool; I have characters without travel powers.

As a comment on that particular combination, devices has some real big END drain powers and blasters in general really benefit from the Fitness pool. I don't think that combination with those restrictions is going to be a lot of fun. I've never played that combo, but I have an elec/elec and fire/dev blasters.

Johnny I wish I could go, but I work Firday through Sunday, 12 hour shifts.

When're you gonna do a TF during the week?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Other people sometimes do. For example, although it's redside. Textilian also did a Hess TF on a weeknight recently.

Has anyone stopped to think that this is exactly "Paragon Studios" wanted? I mean, could it be SO BAD trying to code/modify/add to this game that they really do want to give it up, but have contractual issues with NCSoft?

    Tin foil hat time?

Besides mashing buttons and playing dress-up, what else is there to do in this game anymore?

Playing with friends, just like I've been doing the past four years.

    An Idiot Moment

    [ QUOTE ]
Bah, keyboards are cheap, why bother "saving" one?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, my keyboard was wearing out so I needed to replace it. The exact model I had was no longer available so I got a very similar one but with the cursor control keys in a different arrangement. I figured how hard can it be to adjust? HARD! Especially since my keyboard at work had the previous layout.

Okay, try again. I get a keyboard with the exact layout I'm used to and start up CoH. SONOFA.... it won't recognize two simultaneous keypresses if the keys are on the same row.

So, try a THIRD keyboard. Finally one that has the right layout and does everything right. I'm typing on it right now. Once I was sure it worked right for me, I bought a spare.

Believe me, if I had only one keyboard that I liked and spilled something in it, I would REALLY try to save it.

I try to keep track of Coalition leaders through globalfriends so I can keep track of how they are doing, or for one or two of them throw a toon in to monitor from the inside >.> . Unfortunately I seem to forget who runs what

And this thread has officially gone from someone asking an innocent question, to "THE DEVS SUXXORS!!!!! ME NO PLAY DIS GAME NO MOAR!!!!!"

This is usually the best time to lock a thread like this. It has no where else to go but down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes no sense ever hearing anything that might be disturbing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's not disturbing, just tedious. No one has an issue with a well-considered post that makes a point. Conversely, no one has a use for whining.

Primary: Fiery Aura - I'm planning on picking up everything except temperature protection. Which leads to the original question of the post: What should go in it's place?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Tough? Fire armor just feels a bit squishy to me.
    (Translation: *I* took Tough.)

    [ QUOTE ]
Alt. Power Pool Sets: Flight - seeing as how the Fiery Aura pool doesn't have any type of Knock back resistance it seems. The Hover ability under Flight provides me the knock back resistance I need without having to go for Leaping just to get Acrobatics and end up dropping another power for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Please note that Hover *USED TO* give a good defense against knockback. This was considered as BROKEN and was FIXED. If you take knockback while hovering, you will be unable to attack for the same duration as if you were standing on the ground.

My suggestion: skip both of those and get a -knockback IO. True, it's only Mag 4, but that's not bad at all. I don't get knocked around much except when a Fake Nemesis uses his Staff, or I take an alpha from something like Council with a lot of grenades. And you can always slot more than one. I actually bought two, but slotted one at first and decided that was fine. Be patient at the market and you can get them at a reasonable price (reasonable = I never paid more than 5 million for one and I've bought quite a few). They're also reasonable with merits - I think 125.
  19. Make a judgment call. I wouldn't drop them immediately, but if our coalition list was full and I wanted to add someone AND we had some defunct bases on the list - that's when I'd be breaking coalitions.
  20. I think big factors are that the PvP was added to the game later, and not at the start. Also that the 'flavor' of this game isn't primarily about fast-paced combat so it never really appealed very much to serious PvP'ers.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
You'd think given the fact that there is another Hero MMO about to launch they would think twice about upsetting the player base like they have.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'll state the blindingly obvious, that upsetting the players was not their intent and was an unintended side effect. They came up with a fix that they thought would contribute to the success of the game. In my opinion, they were EPICALLY wrong, but I don't for an instant think they wanted to upset their playerbase.
  22. I'm in. Not sure who I'm bringing, though.....
  23. [ QUOTE ]
We will gain more with the Going Rogue system if you decide to switch sides.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm thinking probably not as you've phrased it. Will 'Going Rogue' introduce more badges? Probably. However, it has been stated that 'going rogue' will give certain benefits and 'saying on one side' will ALSO give benefits - different ones.

I would wager that both 'switching' and 'not switching' will offer the same number of additional badges (which might well be zero - who knows).
