    TF "Must Haves"?

    [ QUOTE ]
It's becoming increasingly more aggravating to get into a TF PUG lately. Seems there are becomine more and more "must have" builds - and if you dont have that build - no need to apply. Is this game turning into Guild Wars?

    You "must have":
    - A stone tanker
    - A Kin
    - A Rad
    - A Cold Fender
etc., etc., the list goes on.

As far as I'm concerned, the only must haves are a good tank and a decent healer

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Epic fail.
You start by ranting about people who say you must have certain AT's, then you help to propagate the narrow-mindedness.

    Shield question.

    [ QUOTE ]
Phalanx Fighting, are you worth it?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I took it without a second thought.

    [ QUOTE ]
And Grant cover...I'm looking at you next... I don't feel like you're necessary, but maybe someone on here will tell me otherwise.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is the ONLY power in the primary that I skipped. No regrets.

    [ QUOTE ]
Could I get by with out One with the Shield? I've really never been crazy about powers that have a "crash".

    [/ QUOTE ]
You can skip any of the Tier 9's. This one isn't a particularly powerful one. However, this is offset by the extreme MILDNESS of the 'crash'. See how the tank is without it. You don't have to decide now, or in advance. And if you take it and hate it, you can always respec.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Taunt is never strictly necessary, except perhaps for the Willpower tanker.

It is valuable for AV fights, but that's a small percentage of what you do anyways, and your ambitions may not lie that way. You seem to have plenty of AoE and offense to gather the attention of lesser mobs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I second every part of this response.
My invuln has Taunt because he's built for AV's, Hamidon, etc.
My ice tank does not have Taunt since he's got two taunt auras (and 3 ranged attacks).
My shield tank has Taunt because he has no ranged attacks.

Based on the build, and no particular knowledge of how you expect to use the character, you should be fine without Taunt.

Please disregard people who imply that you are selfish / negligent of teammates / incompetent because you don't have Taunt.

    I'm selling out.

    [ QUOTE ]
    lolz

Best part is someone will actually pay you for this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
hmm.... His previous sale (50's generated from a level pact) were an in-game asset (the lvl 50 toon) for another in-game asset (influence).

However, this appears to be an out-of-game asset (I don't think the forums qualify as part of the game) for an in-game asset (influence). This would appear to be explicitly prohibited. I know he got redname clearance for his previous sale. How about this one?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
How well will that perform? Will I still need acrobatics?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It depends. For a scrapper, I'd say it's plenty. For a tank, where knockback at a bad time could get other people killed, you might want more.

Having said that, I bought TWO for my fire/fire brute and slotted one to see how it was. I ended up selling the other one and never regretted it.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Before everything in his life melted away, Ingelbert Maahs was well on his way to becoming the most famous explorer of his time. His advanced degrees in Geology and Archeology combined with a thirst for adventure to create an adventurer without peer. After leaving school, Maahs used his skill and influence to put together expeditions that uncovered lost treasures; brought to light scientific facts and benefited all those involved. His partner throughout this early success was his best friend, Marcus Janssen. Maahs had a keen eye for his craft but there was one thing that he overlooked...jealousy. Janssen was frustrated by all the credit that Maahs was receiving for their efforts. He began to plan a way to take his colleague out of the picture.
    1.1.1.2 A Dark Turn
Since he first dreamt of being an explorer, Ingelbert Maahs had a Holy Grail. When he was a young boy he found his first reference to the Cavern of Transcendence. It was vaguely mentioned in a book that Ingelbert found while prowling the library. He searched for information about it his whole life, but few details were available. Over the years he was able to determine that the Cavern was underground

    [/ QUOTE ]
No doubt it was his advanced degrees that allowed him to determine that a CAVERN was UNDERGROUND! muahahahahahaha

Okay, yeah, a cave can be above 'ground level', but still, that line just jumped out at me.

    Ill farm

    [ QUOTE ]
Ok I need some help with this ill farm, I got the farm on my lv 45 and I got my fire/kin on the other account,

    [/ QUOTE ]
By the way, any chance you're on Infinity? I had farmed this a while back for all my toons that I wanted it on but have made some new ones since then. I have a lvl 50 character who still has the mission at level 41 AND I have multiple tanks to choose from for rounding up the MIs AND I have a 50 fire/kin on my other account.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
How about for a lvl 50 mastermind with around 990 hp?

I've thought about getting an Ouroboros mission with a CoT red pain crystal and just resting in front of it. I figure i could get some random player to join my team, use recall friend on me once i start resting and just tp me in front of the crystal. Would that work?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Two problems; one definite, one maybe. The maybe part is that this is a very low damage item so if you have any +HP powers/accolades, you're hosed. You need to 'cut into' your base HP for it to count toward the badge.

The larger problem is that you can't be recalled while resting. The way around this is to use Break Frees to negate the immoblize effect from resting. I think someone said it takes 10 of them. That will allow you to walk around while 'resting'.

The method I used was a Rularuu brute minion (conning orange, but I was doing this with a scrapper). In melee, they have one big attack with a recharge over 9 seconds. Unless, of course, they've been changed since I did it. I would use a few small purples and rest right in front of him.

    Ill farm

    [ QUOTE ]
    * You can use brawl for credit, but any low-damage Area of Effect damage that can be auto would work best due to the nature of the summoned Illusionists. Basically you have to only do 1 point of damage before they despawn.
    * Don't kill the Master Illusionists. Defeat everything else on the map. Move the MIs to a single area.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ideally, you should be using a low damage AoE immobilize power and this will KEEP the MIs in one spot. Otherwise, they'll wander off eventually.

Also, there's no need to defeat everything on the map - just the ones in your way. That would be anyone near wherever you decided to gather the MIs and any enemies who come along when you're pulling the MIs to the immobilize zone.

If you can round up 15+ MIs and pin them down with a high level immob, this goes really fast.
  10. As CharybdisClan pointed out, the /r command works differently. It does NOT work the same way and does NOT bring up the destination name until AFTER the message is sent - thus preventing editing of it.

This is why it was functional during the period where tells were getting chopped off. Even if your client doesn't know where the message came from, the SERVER knows.

    Damage Badges

The main problem appears to be that damage which doesn't impact your base hit points doesn't count. This doesn't just affect farming - it affects normal play and negates most of the damage actually taken. "Working as intended" doesn't mean they planned it this way. It just means it's not considered a bug. I think it should be.
  12. That's not even stacking - just overlapping them. Place one, then place a second so it overlaps. No special tricks or techniques needed.

Unless they were placed at different HEIGHTS. Then stacking comes into play.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Kill everything except a Rikti Chief Soldier Boss with rounded shoulder pads. Rest in front of him while the Emp Pain heals you at range. Youll get about 1.2M/hr. 5 hours of afk farming and poof, yer done.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Several people posted a while back that this doesn't work any more. Apparently, the boss with the round shoulder pads now cycles two attacks and kills you if you're resting.
  14. Well, right off, anything serious enough that it had to be escalated is going to take some extra time. Secondly, I would guess that the senior person it got escalated to would not be at work on the weekend so those days don't count.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Didn't they JUST do this by making imps ignore recharge?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Recharge became irrelevant in this situation. When you summon new imps, it kills the old ones.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I can understand some restrictions on trial accounts but the chat restrictions just seem extremely unneeded and like they're just gonna drive people away from the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sadly, the chat restrictions are absolutely VITAL to avoid driving existing players away from the game. We have had a massive influx of RMT scumbags who ignore all the rules, as well as ethics and courtesy and inundate people with advertising.

    PvP farming

    [ QUOTE ]
Strange how many people did not like the farming done in AE. But nothing is being done about people having two or more accounts farming in the PvP zones. Have you tried going to Bloody Bay lately? If thats not ambuse, I don't know what is. Can't even enter zone cause everyone is farming at the entrance.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Okay, let's turn this around on you. Can you come up with a way to curb the farming that won't hinder 'real' PvP'ers from getting the recipes?

    [ QUOTE ]
If you really think about it, the game is not fair to new players. Mission tips says you don't have to use the new IO enhancements, but a new player can't compete with a veteran without them. Then a new player can't get the new enhancements cause they can't fight for them in the zones and can't buy them cause they cost too much on the Black Market. Would that make a new player want to contunie playing the game??

    [/ QUOTE ]
As far as I can tell, 'new' players don't PvP much. So PvP recipe farming really has little or no impact on new players. Also, I'll state the blindingly obvious: once they're high enough to get into a PvP zone, the new players can farm the recipes just like anyone else. Once you can get into the zones, there's no additional 'barrier to entry' to prevent farming.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
On Fredom blueside, there are IOs selling for over 300,000,000 influence now. Things are spiralling out of control.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That would probably be a PvP recipe. They're very new but the price will come down as people are realizing how easy it is to farm them.

By the way, there is no such thing as 'the price on Freedom'. Wentworths and the Black Market are cross server.
  19. The only down side of Ghost Falcon is that since he is a 'contact', he won't talk to you if you are on a task force. Since they added RWZ, I don't even bother unlocking GF on all toons.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
However, I think tanks got short-changed on their inherent. Vigilance, Containment, Criticals and Defiance are all useful when soloing. Gauntlet is useless when soloing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Wait, something's wrong here....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Really? What? Assuming you know what Vigilance is, how is it not helpful when soloing. It's an endurance discount.

ah, as I was typing, I think I figured it out. The defender counts as a member of the 'team' even when solo. Therefore, a solo defender gets the discount when injured. It didn't work like this originally but it was changed.
  21. Could be lots of things. Since you say it's HALF of them, I speculate a problem on the internet preventing you from connecting to one of the server farms. Half the servers are on the east coast, half on the west. Go to this page on ParagonWiki and see if all the servers you couldn't connect to are at the same location.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Something tells me I'm going to regret asking this, but...

    "Yiffing"?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Furries are weird enough that we give them an entirely different word for "sexual touching". The closest proxy to normal people would be a combination of "dry humping" and "rampant fondling".

    [/ QUOTE ]
Of course, not all furries are into that. The ones that aren't, refer to the ones that are, as 'furverts'.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Also your forgetting...GI Joe was an 80s cartoon, as was Transformers, Pole Positon, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors,UylsseeEEEeeeEEEees (nobody else can do the things you do!) 31.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have the Ulysses 31 theme on my computer.
Also Rave Master. (Which has had more than one - The Power of Destiny by Jennifer Paige is the good one.)
Underdog had a cool theme. So did Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
There seems to be a lot of alternate dimensions where an
alternate version of the Statesman is in charge. So what other dimensions could we possibly see?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Do not pursue this line of thought. Madness lies on this path. Go play GadgetDon's arc (The Butterfly Effect) where you meet an alternate version of Dr. Aeon. Then do the two follow-up arcs where it gets... weirder.....
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Am I the only Tanker that thinks Gauntlet is fine as is?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not at all. Gauntlet works fine and should be kept.

However, I think tanks got short-changed on their inherent. Vigilance, Containment, Criticals and Defiance are all useful when soloing. Gauntlet is useless when soloing.
