  1. [ QUOTE ]
There's really no moral justification for reporting people who make a copyright character, just like there's no moral justification for those who report AE farms, as much as the forum dwellers would like to think there is,

    [/ QUOTE ]
This whole line of discussion is blather. Moral justification is not needed in the slightest, because we're helping to uphold the rules as explicitly requested by the people who wrote the rules and are responsible for keeping the game going.

Your arguments are based on a faulty premise right from the start - that anyone who petitions another player is doing something wrong and therefore needs 'excuses' or 'justification'. You don't get to be the arbiter of right and wrong in the game.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Just because you're doing it to get revenge or because you don't like them doesn't make it any less scummy. It's in the same boat as blackmail and extortion to me. Live and let live, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And the silliness continues. How could it possibly be revenge or dislike if I petition a total stranger? And people who go out of their way to assist NCSoft in enforcing the rules, as requested, are now scummy? Priceless. Trying to help the game community is equated to extortion and blackmail? Do you have any idea how absurd these statements are?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
I see no justice in reporting people for making a rip off character. I see no "protection of the game" occurring either. That's a very weak excuse, frankly,

    [/ QUOTE ]
There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. Look up the definitions of 'excuse' and 'reason'. I don't *NEED* an excuse because I don't need to justify my actions to anyone. However, I do choose to EXPLAIN my reasons so that people new to the game understand the situation.

    [ QUOTE ]
And yes, there is a pretentious attitude, that whole, "if you aren't reporting people, SHAME on you" attitude that seems to have permeated this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Permeated? No. A handful perhaps. Don't attribute that kind of attitude to the rest of us.
  4. Well, you can't get pillboxes that way.

    Water in base

    [ QUOTE ]
That water in that other base splashed and if I am right, had little yellow rubber duckies in each corner.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not in this game. Maybe you were playing something else? You can't get water that splashes in a base. All you can do it simulate water.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I just can't stand pretentious forumites who report people for no reason other than because they want to feel good about themselves by making others miserable.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Are you really that clueless? I can't speak for anyone else but when I petition someone, I'm doing it because it's appropriate. IP infringement *IS* a problem and the devs have asked us to assist in this matter. If there are any pretentious forumites, it's the ones who ASSSUME they understand other peoples motives and then impugn them on the basis of their own foolish assumptions.

    AE Overseer?

    [ QUOTE ]
    Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: Kills in AE don't count towards such things, unless it's a Developer's Choice arc. DC arcs award things normally.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You're wrong. No missions of any sort in AE count for ANY badges other than AE badges.
Dev's Choice give normal "rewards". Badge credit is not considered a reward.
  8. Were you actually doing an 'arc'? For example, if you did the 'Redemption of Alexander the Great', it is considered a badge mission and not an arc, so it doesn't count for any of the challenge badges. It only counts for the 'complete x number of flashback' badges. None of the badge missions count for the challenge badges.

hmm....... In Bloody Bay, you collected Shivan Shards. In Warburg, you collected missiles.
Are you going to take 1,000 pillboxes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    There's a badge for taking 5,000.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There are 3 badges for pillboxes and the last one is for OVER NINE THOUSAND! (I mean 1,000.)

    TF "Must Haves"?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
It's becoming increasingly more aggravating to get into a TF PUG lately. Seems there are becomine more and more "must have" builds - and if you dont have that build - no need to apply. Is this game turning into Guild Wars?

    You "must have":
    - A stone tanker
    - A Kin
    - A Rad
    - A Cold Fender
etc., etc., the list goes on.

As far as I'm concerned, the only must haves are a good tank and a decent healer

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Epic fail.
You start by ranting about people who say you must have certain AT's, then you help to propagate the narrow-mindedness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You obviously havent read the rest of the thread, nor do you seem to be making the correct distinction between archtypes/group roles and specific powersets.

    [/ QUOTE ]
On the contrary. I've read every post.
Anyone who says they must have ANYTHING (stone tank, any tank, whatever) is mistaken.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I thought KB IO's were unique? I know you use to me able to run multiple Steadfasts and Karma's, but I thought they changed that.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not unique and there used to be a problem with slotting multiples, but it was fixed. If you have 4 powers that take resistance sets and 3 that take defense, you could slot 4 Steadfast and 3 Karma.

Obviously, mommy and daddy never explained to you the concept of COMMUNITY and how people should look out for each other. Copyright Infringement hurts the GAME and the COMMUNITY.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even in the analog community there are citizens who disagree with a given law, whether they consider it unjust or for some other reason, and who do not support it or act cooperatively to enforce it.

They too are often exposed to the specious argument that breaking such a law harms the community, in an attempt to guilt trip them into compliance.

The bald statement that violations harm the community does not prove it (insofar as such a statement can be proven).

But go ahead and condescend to those who do not share your point of view, as it is a proven means of winning them over to your position.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'll gladly go ahead exactly as I was. I wasn't addressing everyone. I was addressing one individual who was being insulting toward anyone who would ever petition another player. I have no problem with anyone who decides for themself to petition or not. I have a problem with someone who starts calling other people narcs and tattletales because they're acting in a manner that they feel is responsible and appropriate.

Of course, it seems you left off the quote that I was responding to, and which I had included in my post. I guess a little selective quoting is a proven means of winning people over to your position.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Unless it's changed from the last I've tried it, I was able to click them from as far as I could get from them and still be in LoS.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Then you didn't stand far enough away. Please note, some of the tunnels are very twisty and you can't get very far away and still see the obelisk. In some tunnels, you CAN easily get far enough away that you can't click it.
  14. hmm....... In Bloody Bay, you collected Shivan Shards. In Warburg, you collected missiles.

    [ QUOTE ]
Don't you mean CoX2? I want my damn villains, ya hear?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The devs decided to put the "devs hate villains" rumor to rest with CoH2 by not including any villains for them to supposedly "hate."

    [/ QUOTE ]
    orly? BAB said right here:
"I think the idea here is that if you have a hero character, who's never going to 'go rogue' and become a villain, you could instead continue to do heroic things and eventually become an exemplary hero...at which point, you'd have access to rewards not available in other ways.

Whereas exemplary villains would just get shafted cause we hate them. "

    Yes, redname confirmation!

    TF "Must Haves"?

As if the STF needs a tank.
    1 blaster
    1 defender
    6 controllers
    profit
  17. [ QUOTE ]
i think that the game is more 45% player 55% devs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If it makes you feel better to think this, go for it.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
anyone remeber jack emmert and how people disliked him because he made the game into his vision rather then giving players what they wanted?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Does anybody think the current devs don't do exactly the same thing?
My issue with Jack was that too many questions were met with his grand pronouncements about "THE VISION", instead of explanations or reasons.

    Blue Steel!

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
The only problem with this is a TF giver can't be a trainer too; or at least hasn't been so far.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe it's possible to have separate contacts both with the same name (but different IDs) in different zones (for appearances sake) with one being the trainer and the other being the contact. I can't recall this being used in game anywhere, but I vaguely recall a dev saying it was possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Technically, yes... but I'm pretty sure they'd consider it immersion breaking. War Witch is only in two zones because they're different versions of the character.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention, one of the zones is in another universe.

Maybe they could put the TF contact Blue Steel in one of the Shard zones and have normal physics there, because Blue Steel refused to put up with any alternate physics nonsense.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Its called minding your own business. I mind mine but seems some people like to run around a virtual world and police it. Let the devs worry about it not take it upon yourself to ruin someones good time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The devs have specifically asked for the players assistance in identifying IP infringement. Accordingly, some people (including myself) will continue to do so. We don't care whether you approve.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
First off why would you even report someone who did nothing to you. Obviously mommy and daddy never told you being a tattletale is wrong unless you have been hurt in some manner.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Loig out time.

In your badge window (click BADGES on your navigation window), you will have a progress bar for any Day Job where you have any progress at all. Each progress bar will give you some idea of what you have to do to earn the badge (log off in a university, log off in Wentworths, etc).
