Well, you'd be okay if it was 'travel power repression'.
-
This would seem to be one of those 'hard to track down' problems. I've seen several posts about it, so it clearly isn't just you. However, I was playing for hours yesterday and hours today and I never had any lag problem. This means it isn't EVERYONE either. That's the problem.
I wonder if it's an ISP problem and related to geographical location.... -
[ QUOTE ]
Just playing the game to fifty does NOT guarentee you millions of inf. I have 2 50s (blueside) and neither has more than 50M inf. I have one lower level (40 if memory serves, also blueside) who has over 70M.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, not only do all of your examples have "millions", they, in fact, have TENS of millions.
When you can do a cut-rate IO job on a toon for around 5 million and actually get decent set bonuses for under 30 million, 50 million is decent cash. -

[ QUOTE ]
Another way to store it is to sell it and hang on to the inf.
[/ QUOTE ] Sweet, only took two posts for somebody to post something completely worthless.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sweet. Two worthless posts out of the first four.

Quality use of emotes and text, well done! Redside gives style points, also.

I would like to know how one roster spot, out of 150 of them, prevents an sg from remaining active? So long as permissions are granted to level 5 leaders, giving the super leader 6 months is not a big deal at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right, but you have that qualification in there.
Now, if they changed it so that the leader gets autodemoted UNLESS there is someone else at the next highest rank and who has all necessary permissions, that could work. -

Alright but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, fresh water system, and public health... what have the devs ever done for us?
[/ QUOTE ]
And one of the items can help you ignore the lack of the other seven.

I never thought to measure it. Let's see.... If I had a teammate set as a waypoint and they stood at the obelisk, I could get a distance reading. (Gyrations necessary in the absence of a map.)
-
Or some sort of faster than light communications method.
As a science fiction fan, I would have abbreviated it FTL but that has another meaning on the interwebz. -
I put one endred in it and my tank can travel any distance with Unyielding running, even across a Shard zone. The key is not to fire it instantly. You have several seconds of hover - use a couple of them and you'll never run out of END (assuming you have Stamina or an equivalent).

Do you realize you can do that with Super Speed and any attack already?
If you turn Super Speed off during a battle and then click it on right after pounding one enemy you can use it to speed across the room to kick another with no suppression.
[/ QUOTE ]
The suppression is there, but the animation time of some attacks (like Total Focus) might take up some of the suppression time and makes it seem like there is no suppression. Suppression initiates at the beginning of the animation.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why you toggle on Super Speed after the attack, not during it. That's what I'm saying. You have to be quick with the toggle. You can't just leave Super Speed on or it will suppress.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, he had it right. The suppression is on *YOU*. Whether your travel power is running when you attack is irrelevant. If you turn on a travel power and try to use it fast enough after attacking, it WILL be suppressed. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm curious what power choices and pools you've chosen for your speedster toons. I'm torn and I have a few ideas (energy melee, dark melee, kinetics etc) but I love hearing what others have come up with.
[/ QUOTE ]
My choice of powersets came from HOW my character became a superspeeder. Fidgety Girl got her powers from an experimental espresso machine exploding, infusing her body with caffeine and electricity. There's no coffee set, so she's an electric/electric blaster with Hasten and Superspeed (and Hurdle and Combat Jumping - she can't stay still).
"They say crime never sleeps. Well, neither does Fidgety Girl! LET'S GO! GO! GO!" -

Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. #106 and 17 U.S.C. #106A the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include
1. The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
2. The nature of the copyrighted work;
3. The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
4. The effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
That is the entire quote of the section from Wiki that you used. I do agree with your examples to the factors to be considered for Fair Use; however I do not believe that they trump the provisions in section 17 U.S.C #106:
[/ QUOTE ]
You are mistaken. The VERY FIRST WORD is "Notwithstanding".
Definition: in spite of; without being opposed or prevented by
That means that the fair use situation is applicable "without being opposed or prevented by" the provisions in the copyright law. Fair use takes PRECEDENCE. It defines EXCEPTIONS that get to 'ignore' copyright law. -
[ QUOTE ]
So you just re-emphasized the wrongness of the post you quoted, seeing as it was corrected already?
[/ QUOTE ]
Basically, yes.
Someone posted something incorrect. Two people posted they weren't sure. One person posted a correction. Someone new to the entire subject wouldn't necessarily come away with correct information. I felt it was worth reconfirming and elaborating. When something incorrect is posted, I feel the correction needs a preponderance of support/verification. I always look at a thread like that and consider whether a brand new player would end up confused or enlightened.
It may have seemed redundant to some, but those who already have extensive knowledge of the game weren't my target audience. -
[ QUOTE ]
Then what are these different rules and how are they applying to this situation.
[/ QUOTE ]
From Wikipedia...
In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include:
1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
2. the nature of the copyrighted work;
3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
1. The commercial consideration does not apply in either case. No one is trying to make money from a character or a forum avatar. However, the nature of the use is relevant. A character in the game is entirely and purely DERIVATIVE. The original character has a certain appearance, name, background, abilities. A character in the game has all of these aspects as well. A forum avatar has no background or abilities. It is not intended to be a representation of the hero it portrays. It is a static icon intended to represent a forum poster.
2. Item 2 doesn't really apply in either case as it refers to the nature of the original work and both examples here are drawing from the same original work (existing comic book characters) which are indisputably fictional.
3. This item is key - the amount and substantiality of the portion used. The infringing character in the game had the name, costume and background. It was a thorough and comprehensive copy. A forum avatar is a much more basic representation and only of the physical appearance.
4. This item is also relevant. If people can create representations of Marvel's character in another game, they have less motivation to play a game from Marvel. This has the clear potential to affect the value of their IP. Conversely, using an image of one of their characters as a forum avatar does not have this potential (at least, not in any way that I can think of). -

I prefer to create my own intellectual properties. Let published characters inspire you, but don't copy them. You will be noticed, and if it's by me, you will be reported.

And exactly what is your moral justification for poking those badgers? Hm? Hm?

Quite true. That's why I phrased it "I believe". I was qualifying it because I don't have definitive knowledge. -

I highly doubt such a thing is possible (the game doesn't know where the buff/debuff effects on you come from
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes it does. If you don't believe me, check if the power Grant Invisibility can be used on someone who is NOT on your team. (Hint: it can't. The game knows when a buff is coming from a teammate.) -

Why the fascination with text color? it's like someone just discovered how to do something on the forums and can't resist using it at every opportunity - especially since it takes extra tags to make it a color other than white.

If only this were like the early days of the interwebz and we could have blinking text. -
H4X! I'd call you Hypno-Toad, except your avatar isn't even slightly toad-like.... more like a tennis ball, I would say.

You might have better odds posting in the Pinnacle section. (Which you may have done already, for all I know.)

You know, just strolling through this thread I have counted more than 10 copy right violations in peoples sigs .the little pictures or videos under posters name .then that old saying about living in a glass house and throwing rocks comes to mind.
