    Pssst!!!

Whats your favorite arcs to earn merits heroside and villainside. Do Not respond in the thread, please send as a pm because I dont want the merits nerfed on the arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Is it just me, or is this terribly naive? Aside from the datamining people mentioned, don't you think that if the devs thought you were sending or receiving information about exploits they would simply read your PM's?
  2. [ QUOTE ]
But either way, it's water under the bridge now.

Although it seems that it's still gnawing at someone.....

The Tick attempts to get rid of it in hilariously inept ways that terrify everyone. Deadpool gets his cowboy hat.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This conjures an image from 'Dr. Strangelove', except it's the Tick on top of the warhead, shouting "SPOOOOON".
  4. If anyone was wondering if these recipes really do drop from bosses, I got one today. I got a Luck of the Gambler +recharge from an EB.

    Base Upkeep??

There's a saying: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish... no, wait, I know a better one.

Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

On top of all that i'm actually of the opinion that desktop AV is seriously depreciated ever since the last generation of polymorphic zero day exploits and social engineering. I have seen too many active AV packages completely rooted for the last year or so to feel actually protected by them.

Unfortunately, a number of computer security experts agree. If you get to the point where you need an anti-virus program to 'catch' something, you've already screwed up. Still, I run an anti-virus and two anti-spyware programs but none of them have found anything on my system (aside from cookies) in years. Why? Because nothing gets that far. My router has a firewall; I run a software firewall (a real one - ZoneAlarm, not Microsoft's) and my browser (Firefox) has a bunch of plug-ins that block scripts, Flash, suspect web sites, etc.

So, my answer to the OP's question is that you should have only one anti-virus program active or the programs can 'step on each other'. However, I would run multiple anti-spyware programs on a schedule. My anti-virus (AVG) is running at all times and does a full scan twice a week. I also have Ad-Aware and SpyBotSD. All three of these are scheduled to run automatically so I don't have to remember to do it. I hear MalWareBytes is also really good. I've downloaded it, but haven't installed it yet.
  7. If anyone wants more stuff to read, this is cut-and-paste from the binds I set up when I ran this with my SG. In addition to these 'introductory binds', I also had a bunch for various points as we proceeded through the trial. Amusingly, it took me longer to set up the keybinds than it did for us to complete the trial.

Okay, before we start the timer on this I want to go over a couple of things. There are a few points in the trial where some coordination is needed. On the ramps going down, there are crates with two kinds of weapons - Thermite Cannons and Particle Cannons. The Particle Cannons are the ONLY ATTACK that can hurt the Hydra head and they must go to tough heroes. The people with the Particle guns have to stand there during a long animation while the Hydra head tries to kill them.

The Thermite guns are useful against the tentacles ONLY and anyone without a powerful attack can take one. You can tell what is in a crate by clicking on it FROM FAR AWAY and your targeting window will tell you what it is.

Once we get to the bottom, we have to clear EVERY CRITTER EXCEPT THE HEAD but do NOT damage the four force field generators. Then we split up into 4 teams for the generators. We need to damage each down to about 10% HP, then wait for everyone to be ready. Then we take out the generators FAST and charge the Hydra head and shoot with the Particle guns only.

We do this until the force field goes back up. SOMEONE WITH A PARTICLE CANNON needs to be monitoring their combat tab to see when the damage stops. Then we go back to the generators, clear the Rikti repair teams and damage them down to 10% again. We should have to do that about four times total to take down the head (which does NOT regenerate between our attacks).

It's possible with the last patch that since you can now choose 'Regular' drops with AE missions that is recipes/salvage/base salvage that the market might start to come down again since the supply of items may start to go back up again now that people have the choice.

    [/ QUOTE ]
um, you have that exactly backwards.
You now have the option, for DEV'S CHOICE ONLY, to take tickets INSTEAD of regular rewards. Everything else in AE is still tickets only.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I never really liked that name, but I didn't have one I liked enough to justify using my one-time-only change token.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Proceed with care. We'll feel bad for you if you end up as Mind Forever Bruning. Well, after we stop laughing.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
And they don't drop in AE missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Unless it's a Dev's Choice arc.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
And it does seem like something to be proud of, having one emote pull from a list of random objects in game for a player to turn into is pretty cool and probably difficult to setup.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not really. From what I've seen, it pulls from exactly the same random items as the Propel power in the Gravity Control set. In fact, it works just the same way - the object is determined client-side. So you may see yourself change into a lamp, but your two friends standing nearby will see you change into a chair and a pool table.

It's amazing to see so many posts in one thread agreeing with each other.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I disagree. I'm not amazed at all.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Besides the fact that I have the firm revulsion for Wireless Microsoft Mice, I have seen this in another fashion. More with cheaper Microsoft mice, but with mice in general. I'm not saying this is your problem, but I speak it nonetheless, because people are rather amazed when I show them the solution in person, and then explain it. And I've seen it dozens of times.

Is any of the surface you are moving your mouse on tinted red in any way? Transitional red, like a black surface with red print? Change your surface to another color, get rid of the red.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Interesting, but not applicable in my situation. The problem only started in the past few days (approximately the same time as Issue 15 but I'm not positive) and my desk has not changed color and I've been using the same mouse for over 2 years.

It seems that CoH now dislikes something about my system.

    [ QUOTE ]
Are you opening 2 instances of the SAME client? That is to say are you clicking on the COH icon and opening the client and then as it's starting up are you clicking on the icon again and opening the client a second time? If you do this you are SURE to crash.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is completely false. You only need one client installed to run multiple instances. Many people do it regularly every day. The only thing you can't do is have more than one copy of the UPDATER open at the same time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Exactly like Mateo_06 said. I was running two instances of the same client, from the exact same files in the same directory, TODAY. No problems at all.

The only reason to have two installations of the client is if you want to have the current version of the game and the test server version.

As for the OP's problem, people post this issue every so often and I don't recall there being any consistent solution. I never had a problem running two instances. Can you give us your system specs? They key items would be CPU, amount of RAM and what video card.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
If you have any information to dispute the above logic, let's hear it.

He said, "Sunstorm popped in and basically told us nothing for bases until at least middle of 2010." which was total B.S.

Now, if he had said, "Snow_Globe figures we won't see anything new until mid 2010." that would have been fine.

As for your so-called logic, you use the word "likely" three times. So each step is "likely" if the previous assumption is accurate. That's not logic. That's speculation stacked on guesses. Any inaccuracy early in the chain makes the conclusion garbage.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Eh I personally don't see why the Devs felt they had time to tinker with this old emote when they still haven't made it so that a person can use the juggle emotes while Hovering. *shrugs*

On the bright side, my shield tank can now /e dance with his shield toggles running.

I really miss being able to sit around in Croatoa as a pumpkin.

The CoH version of 'couch potato'.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
As for what is causing it to stick to begin with.. I'd guess wireless interference of some sort. Make sure you have new batteries, and move the receiver closer.

If it's not wireless, or that doesn't work... then I have no idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm having this issue also. At first I thought it might be interference (wireless mouse). Then I noticed that it ONLY happens in CoH. I think this may be related to the tooltip failure and they have borked something about the interface. Most of my pointer 'hesitation' seems to occur when it passes over a spot where it either changes pointer types or has the option of clicking an interface item.
  19. Sign me up - most likely with Ironblade. Team two.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Have fun with that Invincible Posi, I hope you've got clear mind on the team...short of that, stack up on break frees.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I normally do, and mentioned that before the first mission. However, we DID have an emp with Clear Mind on the team so it was smooth sailing.
  21. But if they strike you down, you will return more.... never mind.

    Battle Axe

Well, the build looks fine, just more focused on damage than mine. I have a lvl 50 invuln and those powers look good. From BA, I only took 5 powers (Beheader, Gash, Taunt, Whirling Axe and Cleave). I'd say you've got all the key powers in both sets and the slotting looks good, too.

I took Tough but not Weave on my invuln, and I didn't slot for defense (I have 300% regen). My shield tank has both Tough and Weave and IO sets for defense. Overall, looking at the build, I'm guessing you're looking for a high degree of versatility, rather than specializing for specific tasks.

    Hey all,

It's been asked by the players that I drop by even though I don't have anything to report yet. Right now I'm pretty heavily booked on a lot of upcoming features, so I won't get much posting time.

Heh, if only I could tell you all what I am working on, I'm pretty sure you'll like it. Unfortunatly, I can say it isn't bases though.

I am keeping an eye out for bugs and good feature requests for the future, so by all means post those.

    Sunstorm

PS: And no, don't send any baskets, PM's are fine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Someone ASSUMED that meant nothing before mid 2010, or maybe just lied to stir things up. Sunstorm made no mention of any date or time frame.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Can you give any specifics on how Statesman survived that Tactical Nuclear Missile? He was obviously hurt, was it the explosion, the radiation, or the EMP pulse? (Consequently, why didn't any of these fry his brain, persay, magic?)

    [/ QUOTE ]
No wires. If I'm remembering correctly, the way an EMP damages electrical components is that the magnetic field passing through the metal wires generates a current and that burns out the devices. Your brain does not have metal wires.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
And as I pointed out earlier in this thread these new filenames aren't even y3k compliant.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Never mind Y3K. They'll be borked at the turn of the century. However, there's a good reason for this. All of us programmers will be dead by then and we want to inflict suffering on future generations.

I have a T-shirt that says, "You can stop laughing. Computers are cool now." But they won't stop! <sob>
