    I met a newbie!

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
He kept blasting the Clockwork ambushes while four of us were pounding on the construction site, but he was having so much fun none of us had the heart to tell him he was supposed to be shooting the boring pile of scrap metal in the center.

[/ QUOTE ]If you never defeat the Clockwork ambushes, you can pound on the construction site all you want and you'll never get the badge. He was doing the right thing. Who's the newb?

    [/ QUOTE ]
um, you? You can completely ignore all the clockwork and still get the badge. In fact, a high enough character can solo the construct with single-target attacks only, hit absolutely nothing else, and get the badge.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    Let me get this straight...
You are asking for a TF to be redesigned, because you HAVE to defeat the AV in it, as the content was intended?
    .
    .
Either you have posted this to start a flame war, or, I have completely misunderstood your objective.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I read it as a request that the BADGE REQUIREMENT be altered. Of course, I could be mistaken.
  3. The detective is offering you the Studio Manager as a new contact after the Safeguard mission??? That is weird.

My only thought (aside from filing a petition) would be to go to the Studio Manager in person. Sometimes a personal visit will 'shake something loose' when other methods don't.

The grav geysers are pretty difficult to use, but the jetpacks should keep non-flyers from having to start over, and over, and over.... I think a good tweak would be that if you fall and hit bottom you don't 'port back to base - rather you land on the closest Island that has a geyser (Ouro style)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Blech! Let's not make it completely a training wheel zone. If you have a jetpack and miss your target, just click the jetpack and fly to your target and continue on your way.

    Mistrust

    [ QUOTE ]
its this double standard that bugs me. if players in supergroups can do it easily, then solo players should have an easy method also.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's not a double standard at all. The practice is 'frowned upon' by the devs so there are no systems to facilitate it. Solo players can't start task forces, either. This is not a first person shooter. This game is built around cooperation and teaming. Most of it CAN be soloed, but it's not designed as a solo game so the soloist has some extra hoops to jump through and some things are difficult or even impossible.
  6. The only time I ever had a problem with the store is when I (stupidly) tried to purchase a booster pack during prime-time on the day of release. I tried again after midnight and had no problem.

Aside from what Bonehead mentions, are you outside the U.S.? NCSoft blocks entire countries by IP range.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
they state its not, but could they actually enforce that?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, and in a shotgun fashion. If you're doing anything that LOOKS like something they don't allow, they'll hit you with a penalty fee for breaching the terms of service and can also cancel the account.

Plenty of land line providers do the same thing. If you hit the download cap, they just ASSUME you're doing something naughty and take action.
  8. The original INTENT was that you defeat her 10 times. And what does "accolade-worthy" mean? There are accolades that give nothing and some that give significant powers. This one certainly doesn't have any significant impact on game play so it's fine just the way it is. Redesigning badges that are working correctly is a huge waste of time.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
When I last played Prestige flowed freely and I could do some fun things with the base.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Okay, right off: prestige is earned FASTER than when you last played and base plots and rooms are CHEAPER.

So if you are remembering that it used to be easier to set up a base, you are DRAMATICALLY misremembering. Maybe you're remembering how it was with multiple people earning prestige.
  10. There's something on CNet's web site also.

    Equally clueless:[ QUOTE ]
These days every company, project, website, circus clown, and dog websites have community-oriented features that are supposed to facilitate some deeper level of interaction. While some communities thrive, others plateau and become something less than the sponsor wants it to be. That's clearly the case with the City of Heroes example above.

    [/ QUOTE ]

However, since it's a only a blog, I don't hold it to the standards of an actual 'news article'.

This creates new uncertainty for the market. If double XP doesn't apply in AE, we will see a mass exodus to the regular content and this may drive salvage prices DOWN.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But all prior 2XPs were pre-MA and nothing ever went down then did it?

    [/ QUOTE ]
True, but we currently appear to be at inflated price levels due to MA, so the circumstances of previous double-XP weekends are dissimilar.
  12. Yeah..... that sounds buggy.
At this point, I would suggest your original plan of doing scanner missions to get a new contact. That will definitely give you a regular contact and, if you already have Unai and Crimson, that only leaves Maria Jenkins and Harvey Maylor.
  13. I would think that searching only tells you that there are currently no posts on file from that handle. Someone may have created the account but never posted, or their post(s) may have been deleted over time.

Have you tried sending a PM to Graal?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Which brings me to another question: patrol xp doesn't apply to AE content. Will 2xp be shut off in AE missions as well?

    [/ QUOTE ]
No one knows. Our only 'evidence' with which to speculate is that, as you pointed out, Patrol XP doesn't count. If I had to guess, I would expect double XP to *NOT* apply in AE. But since this is only a twice-yearly event, the devs might let it apply.

This creates new uncertainty for the market. If double XP doesn't apply in AE, we will see a mass exodus to the regular content and this may drive salvage prices DOWN.

Are Soul Trapped Gems really going for 21 mil each, or is someone just playing games? Either way it's pretty ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Way ridiculous. I was slotting a bunch of sets over the past couple days and needed 3 Soul Trapped Gems. I had thought I needed two and bought them in advance at good prices. When I started crafting, I found I needed another one and paid to have it NOW. It cost me 720,000.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I'm noticing the auto demote feature in my SG is broken. I have "leaders" in my SG that have been inactive for more than the required time (in my SG, it's 15 days for leaders) and their rank does not change at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    There can be only one.
By that, I mean that only the 'super leader' is subject to auto-demotion (this would be the person who has the RED circled star). Everyone else can retain their rank from now to eternity.
  17. Plus the normal levels of congestion. I've seen multiple instances of Atlas Park more than once (and I'm not on Freedom or Virtue) for events. Having a jammed AE building in there just puts the zone closer to the population cap (and more lagtastic) at all times.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I have Unai as a contact already in the zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I guess I'll try running radio missions and see if that helps.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doing 2 or 3 missions from Unai should get him to introduce a new contact, but it might not be Maria. As someone else pointed out, Angus McQueen can introduce Maria and he is a 40-45 contact. If you have Angus as a contact, try him first. Since you have out-leveled him, he should send you to Maria immediately.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
If I gently tap the back of the case, right under the power supply and right above the video card, the buzzing temporarily goes away, but comes back within minutes.

So, I'm thinking it's either one of two things: either something is loose and the vibration from the fan is causing the buzzing sound, or the motherboard is dying.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Motherboards generally don't make any noise, even if they're dying.
From your tapping experiment, it sounds like it's a fan near the back of the case. Perhaps a rear case fan, perhaps in the power supply.

    My Post Count...

    [ QUOTE ]
If I missed anyone, I apologize. You can kick my [censored] the next time I enter a PvP zone....

    [/ QUOTE ]
You didn't thank Twixt. I hear he's a major figure in the game.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
And? Even given a limited number of objects, what are the odds that out of 6 members on a team all 6 of them saw the same object?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Without knowing how many objects there are to choose from, I have no idea. But it *IS* random, and generated client-side, just like Propel.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    I run a software firewall (a real one - ZoneAlarm, not Microsoft's)....

    [/ QUOTE ]
I assume you mean the free version?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Their suite had lots of stuff I don't want - mainly because I prefer to use different products for each aspect of security.
  23. And? It's random and there are a limited number of objects to choose from.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
I didn't say AE was ruining the game, and yea I've played AE like most do,

    [/ QUOTE ]
You've used AE to make twenty 50's. I don't think most people play that way - not by a long shot.

My SG used to have two nights a week when we did TFs/trials. When AE came along, we changed one of those nights to 'AE night'. After a few weeks, the consensus was that we didn't want to do AE that much and only do it once every other week. Most of the people I know prefer the 'regular content'. There's nothing wrong with AE, but it's not 'the game'. It makes a nice change of pace and that's about it.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Is anyone out there doing any serious crafting or marketeering without a base?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sure. The ONLY time my base comes into play is when I'm crafting enhancements for someone else in the SG - my characters or someone else's.
