My question is, why are characters designed to be able to do this? What's fun about being killed in one punch?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, given an example of a level 10 toon running thru Peregrine Island, clearly there are times when the enemy should be able to obliterate you effortlessly. After that, it's just a matter of proportion. Some enemies should be able to do this even if they are near your level; some should not.

It's not realistic that a hero/villain can stand alone againt any enemy in existence even for a short time.
  2. 1) CoH can use no more than 2 cores.
    2) When CoH loses the focus, it drops to below normal priority. An example of when this would happen, is if the Task Manager has the focus. Try opening the Manager then clicking on CoH to give it the focus. The Manager stays on top and should show CoH at normal priority.
  3. The arcane version looks really cool.

Has anyone else seen this happening? I did file a report on it but past experience shows that only canned "automatic" responses ever get sent.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yes.
The progress bar is showing the last time you logged or zoned with that toon. Since you're logging in to move them for Day Jobs, if you check your bar AFTER changing zones, it will be correct.

Re the 'canned automatic responses': if you are filing a bug report, that is correct. You should not expect a direct response to a bug report; just an acknowledgment of receipt.
  5. That sounds an awful lot like a math problem. I was under the impression that there would be no math.

...and finish the job the spammers have done on it.

Seriously, it has lost all usefulness as a player tool for me .

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that for you. I find the in-game email useful so I would like it to stay.
I certainly wouldn't mind some additional options, as long as I could choose to set them to work EXACTLY the way it does now.

'Tis done. I can't believe I'm using "4" to mean "for", but I couldn't think of anything better. "MindEverBurning" just didn't have the same ring.

I would have gone with BrainSmolder.

No... Silver Mantis Strike Force has been there since CoV went live.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought that still wasn't working?

It was broken ages ago and they removed the ability to access it til they could get around to fixing it. I wasn't aware it was live again.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That was the Cathedral of Pain.
The only problem the Silver Mantis SF ever had was when a bug made it impossible to enter the team leader's base, but that was fixed a long time ago.

I've seen both sides: I've seen badge-hunters enter PvP zones and declare they are off limits because they are only their for the badges. I've seen PvP'ers freak out beyond belief when badge hunters don't bother PvP'ing in a PvP zone.

There's no winning either way because no matter how you play, by someone else's definition, you are playing wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I found a way. I don't like PvP but went into the zones and spent a lot of time there (especially RV) to get the badges. While I don't like PvP, I respec'ed my badger for it specifically and (fortunately) he's a scrapper.

When PvP'ers attacked me, I acted like a crazed wolverine, doing my best to kill them and, more than once, chasing them halfway across the zone to finish them off. I remember a corruptor in Warburg who attacked me alone. She (female toon) managed to escape initially but I found her 'taking a knee' three blocks away and killed her.

The people looking for easy rep would never come near me again. The "real PvP'ers" would generally be impressed that I put up a good fight, even if I lost, and would be favorably disposed toward me. One actual conversation went:
    "Damn, Iron, you're pretty good."
"Thanks, but I'm really only here for the badges."
"LOL! Cool, I'll leave you alone."

More than once, I had a stalker ask me how I saw them. I guess they were newb stalkers. I explained that I had Tactics AND Focused Accuracy and had numerous conversations on powers and tactics with PvP'ers.

    I still don't like PvP.
  10. We have a new definition for them. Go read this thread where Duck_Dim_Sum says:

    Damn you, inspiration!

I guess it should be C.A.T.girls.

Again I realize this is just an academic discussion at this point. The few that are left around are not going to be nerfed regardless. But it does show us that what the Devs ultimately consider to be an "exploit" is definitely subjective. Think about it: They bother to stop the exploit but -don't- remove the benefits of that exploit? Seems a bit silly to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It seems perfectly reasonable to me. I have several of them and I did not exploit in any way. I just happened to be standing in Wentworths when the owner found that combined enhancements could not be placed in WW and asked on local if anyone wanted to buy them. At the time, I didn't even know that they were the result of an exploit.

If my 52+ HO's suddenly went away, I'd be pretty steamed about it.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Uhh, wasn't that almost two years ago, I know hindsight is 20/20 and all, but I gave away all my stuff, quit the game for over a year, came back, re-purpled my mains etc .. since then. At no point until yesterday would I have guessed I would have ever wanted my own base.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh, right, I had forgotten that you quit and gave away all your stuff. Probably because you didn't give me any.
  13. wumpusrat, kindly learn how the forums work.

The issue of reinstating a pact that has been broken by a lapsed account is up for discussion. I don't imagine the devs will allow it, as it would involve the immediate balancing of levels, so in extremee cases a player who just came back to the game could pact with a friend and gain from 1 to 20 levels without doing anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, no, there is a very simple solution.
    1) The two characters in question must be the same level.
    2) Current XP is equalized to whichever character currently has less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is a simple solution, but if the issue in question is a pact being broken because one member went inactive and the remaining partner gained a bunch of levels, it does not allow for the pact to be reinstated immediately. The inactive player would need to catch up first.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, yeah, but... tough. Any other method would be exploitable.

Besides, if you're good enough friends with someone to want to level pact with them, surely you would know if they let their account lapse. In that case, stop leveling your toon.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I think it's 60 days from a deactivated account now.

    [/ QUOTE ]
um, and that differs from what I said in what way?
I said: "I believe we still have the 60 day WW purge system for accounts that go inactive."
  17. [ QUOTE ]
So a few years late, I am finally getting around to starting a solo sg. The group I run with is great, but I got the bug to build a more efficient base. I took an couple alts started the SG got a base, and ran around a bit last night collecting 1/2 a mil prestige.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wait, are you saying you earned half a million prestige in an evening?
Or does this include: 1) the 300K from 15 starting toons and/or 2) trading in influence?

P.S. The right way to do this would have been to plan ahead, back when they had the prestige grant. I have 2 SGs and a VG with no bases, but sitting on over 6 million prestige from the grants.

As a die-hard badger (arguably the most successful on my server), I must say that I totally resent any implication that I had to "farm" for the Disruptor badge!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hey, my scrapper got the healing badges legit.... well, the first three and almost the fourth one.

    I FARMED THE REST! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I believe it's a silly hoax simply because he didn't realize that the round things went into the round holes when he's clearly smart enough to click on the "Enhancement" tab and hit "Manage."

How do you know that? He could have been taking his screenshots while at the trainer.

    Purple recipes?

    [ QUOTE ]
or can i get them by doing any thing, other than AE of coarse.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, you CAN get purples in AE - but from Devs Choice missions only (with 'Regular Rewards' selected).
  21. That has been suggested in several other threads. The screaming would be epic and I think it would cost us players, and JUSTIFIABLY so.

The problem isn't really that AE is available. The problem is that new players pretty much 'fall into it' due to its location. All they need to do is remove AE from Atlas Park and Galaxy City. New players would stumble across it AFTER they learn a bit about the game.
  22. Three times. On the second 'shield down', we got the Hydra down to something like 5-8% hit points.

This is a normal media practice - exaggerate and sensationalize a 'fact' that is not easily refuted. Can you PROVE it's not true?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I question "normal".

    [/ QUOTE ]
(shrug) My opinion. Purely subjective statement. I stand by it. I contend that it IS normal practice but it's just often done to a lesser degree.

Please note, further improvements to the systems ARE expected. We were told that duo level pacts were the first step in the process and the "plan" is to be able to form pacts with larger numbers of characters.
