Well, I dinged 50 on my Dark Armor/Super Strength Tanker a few days ago, and...well, I'm not too pleased. I know there's no -kb IO,

    [/ QUOTE ]
Say WHAT? There's not one, not two, but THREE different IO's that give -4 mag knockback protection.
Steadfast Protection - goes in a resistance power.
Karma - goes in a defense power.
Blessing of the Zephyr - goes in a travel power.

Plus, there are IO sets that give -knockback if you have the right pieces all slotted in one power.

My fire/fire brute would be torture if not for these IO's. My defenders love them too.

so if you were two-boxing you could alternate kills and still get drops?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is thinking of ways to exploit the system the first thing you ever think of when the patch notes come out? =P

    [/ QUOTE ]
Exploit is such an ugly word. People simply evaluate the ways they might benefit from a particular change.
  3. Frostfire is solo-able at the level you get the mission, but not by everyone. It's quite difficult.

As for the other mission, "The Sewers require 5+ groups." I'm not sure what you're talking about. Nothing requires 5+ on the team except some Task Forces and if you were on a task force, no other contacts would even talk to you.

    Rikti merits

    [ QUOTE ]
Just do a Mothership raid. You'll walk away with hundreds of merits.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    This.

Under normal conditions, each Rikti has a 10% chance to drop merits (1 for a minion, 2 for a lieutenant and 3 for a boss) and they go to someone on the team.

On a ship raid, every Rikti defeated will drop a merit to everyone on the team if anyone on the team damaged it. The merits will pour down like rain. A sucky raid will get you 150-200. An outstanding raid will get you over 400.

    Heal farms

    [ QUOTE ]
It's funny but no one I know is currently running many AFK farms right now.
They cut into Day Job badge time.

But I assume once more people start to finish off the Day Job badges (assuming no more are added) then I'll start hearing about people doing them regularly again.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm running one as I type this. Just not with my badger. He's got all the heal badges. Back when I was helping people farm rep, I got Disruptor on a second toon and, so far, have earned the first two SG heal badges for 20 different SG's. Currently working on #21.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Does logging out with full debt count for the debt badge?

    [/ QUOTE ]
um, if I'm reading that right, yes. To be more precise: if you log out with debt, when you log back in your patrol XP will instantly wipe a portion or all of the debt. This DOES count for the debt badges. I got a debt badge immediately upon login one day.

Scheduled Server Downtime for City of Heroes/Villains
    [ QUOTE ]
City of Heroes and City of Villains undergo server maintenance daily from 8:00 am to 10:00 am Central Time. During this time, the servers are not accessible as we perform maintenance and make any updates to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, this part simply isn't accurate. Never mind all the qualifiers later on. The simple fact is that the servers NORMALLY are only shut down on Mondays and Fridays and remain accessible right through that time period the other five days.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Now I can fix that somewhat... (goodbye blue ice shields and yellow flames from hasten).

    [/ QUOTE ]
um, I got the impression that you won't be able to customize Power Pools.
  9. I don't think it works that way. I think the 'clumping' is built-in and intentional. As I understand it, there is a random lull between invasions. When an invasion 'wave' starts - it hits multiple zones, with the exact timing and choice of zones being random. Then there is the lull, which appears to be at least 2 hours.

I THINK we were told this, once upon a time. I would assume the post got eaten years ago though, so I'm not going to bother searching. hmm.. ParagonWiki has detail about how Heavies are spawned, compliments of Dark Watcher, but nothing about overall timing.

    Taunt attacks?

    [ QUOTE ]
The exception would be those attacks that do no damage, like Fault or Hand Clap. Since taunt auras no longer accept taunt sets, these attacks are probably the largest places to put them outside of Taunt itself.

    [/ QUOTE ]
hm, someone could easily misunderstand this. While taunt auras (most of them) no longer accept taunt *IO SETS*, you can still slot taunt auras with taunt enhancement (and many people do).

To the OP: I have never slotted taunt enhancers in an attack. I'll put them in Taunt, taunt auras and, occasionally, a non-damaging AoE as Heraclea mentioned. And by "occasionally", I've done it once.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I was leaning towards not taking taunt but would that get me crap from other people?

    [/ QUOTE ]
You'll get crap automatically from STUPID people. Anyone with a clue about tanks will consider your build, goals and skill before criticizing you about Taunt.

If you're using a Willpower tank (with a very weak taunt aura) and volunteer to tank AV's for a full team and you don't have Taunt - you SHOULD be criticized.

If you're using Ice Armor with two taunt auras and multiple AoE attacks, you can do wonderfully without Taunt.

I have an ice tank with no Taunt, who has both taunt auras, 2 AoE attacks (one PBAoE and one location AoE) and 3 single target ranged attacks. I have an invuln with 1 PBAoE and 1 ranged attack and who was specifically built for tanking AV's and GM's - he has Taunt. I have a shield tank with 2 PBAoE's and no ranged attacks at all - he has Taunt also.

The issue with AV's and GM's is that your taunt auras and gauntlet effect have to roll to hit them. Taunt is auto-hit (but not in PvP). If you're attacking steadily, odds are that you'll never lose aggro against a single enemy. But if you have Taunt, you don't have to play those odds and gamble with teammates lives.

Historically, any question about whether a tank needs Taunt ignites a massive flame-fest. There will be people who say you suck if you don't take Taunt. There will be others that say you only need Taunt if you're completely incompetent. I would like to preempt both sides as being UTTERLY CLUELESS because they don't know *YOU*. My advice is very simple: if this is your first tank, take Taunt. Unless someone teams with you constantly and discusses your build and tanking goals, no one can tell you if YOU need Taunt for a particular tank. Try it and see. Then you'll have an informed opinion on it and can judge for yourself whether a particular tank will need it.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
My understanding is that ANY attacks restart the timer. The timer does not START until the first defeat.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No. Only kills affect the timer. The timer is displayed on your PvP tab. Annoyingly, though, (unless recently fixed) the time remaining only shows for ONE person even though both are affected by the timer.

Of course, the timer is also specific to individuals. If I was lucky, I could get a PvP recipe drop every 30 seconds - as long as I was defeating a different character each time. If you can get rep, you can get a recipe.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I have about 400 million earned, and the epic badges are just .... well very hard to attain.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You were going to say "epic", weren't you?

    My original plan was this:
    1) I had gotten a 2nd account, way before we could buy slots, because I needed more.
    2) Make a fire/kin on the 2nd account and get him to 50. (This was a snap without even farming.)
    3) Have my badger doorsit while the fire/kin farmed. BOOOOOORRRRRING!

So I just do lots and lots of task forces (which I enjoy tremendously). Last time I checked (a while ago), I was at 1.3something billion on the progress bar. I'd be a lot closer, except I often use other toons for task forces, depending on the team composition.

P.S. I'm already contemplating that "What do I do now?" moment after I get Leader. I can't do anything to get the Day Job or Veteran badges any faster . . .
  14. And if this happened on a Monday afternoon, an in-game petition will generally get the situation fixed pretty quickly (a matter of hours, during normal working hours). CS will 'reset' the character, which dumps them next to Ms. Liberty for heroes. I don't know where it drops villains.

    Rikti Bombs

    [ QUOTE ]
My MM fell a little short in the bomb category. I've killed enough Heavies and certainly have killed enough Rikti but I still lack about 4 or 5 bombs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You can look in your badge window for details. Not the badge tab on the INFO window, but the detailed badge window brought up by clicking on BADGES on your navigation window. Find the two badges that you do have and the missing one will be right there also. If you mouse over the progress bar, it will tell you exactly how many you have out of how many required.

I use Norton 360. Always liked Norton more, but no particular reason. Considering they are fairly large and still around, I think its safe to assume they know what they are doing for virus protection.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Norton used to be a horribly bloated pig. It was terrible. I *hear* it's much better now but I don't have personal experience because I stopped using it over a year ago.
  17. I would like to point out that you have now contradicted yourself.
    First, you said:
    [ QUOTE ]
No, Healix is saying two payments through PayPal, which then bills the credit card.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Then you later said:
    [ QUOTE ]
I used my credit card on account #1, then used the same card on account #2 through my Paypal account.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    and
    [ QUOTE ]
So, two different accounts, using two different methods of payment. The first directly with the credit card, the second directly via PayPal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This part: "The first directly with the credit card, the second directly via PayPal." is what I was basing my comments on. This is not the same as "two payments through PayPal", which you posted previously.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Unless it's changed very recently, this is incorrect. I made three purchases using one credit card and one master account all in the same day several weeks after the magic booster came out. I wanted to make four, but it stopped me at three, and I was able to make the fourth the next day.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Interesting. There would seem to be different restrictions. Some people couldn't even do two transactions while others can do more.
  19. My shield/axe tank needs Vanguard merits for those Talsorian doohickeys.

    Heal farms

    [ QUOTE ]
Do you still need to have an enemy combatant using AoE attacks for arena gladiator farms?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    No, and you never did.
It used to be that you could get better progress with enemies attacking, but the AI has been changed and it's no longer effective (i.e. they kill each other no matter how you set them).
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I thought that if you did it in SG mode, you got credit for the supergroup, but also got individual credit. I still got experience for badges I hadn't got even though I was in SG Mode. Is this not how it is supposed to work?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The personal badges and the SG badges are different badges. You can get both at the same time. Regardless of when you get them, your personal badges are attached to you and the SG badges are attached to the SG.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Not completely out of luck. There's probably a way of getting it to see you as not being where you are. You know, like they do in the movies all the time and they can't track the hacker because it says he's in Nigeria and he's really next door. Well, you can do that kind of stuff in real life too. Crazy, I know. You'd have to find someone who knows more about it than I, though. GL CJ.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The only way to do it would be to violate the EULA, and Avatea's announcement.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not true. It can be done using a proxy server.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
No, Healix is saying two payments through PayPal, which then bills the credit card. The payments were one each on two different accounts, so technically, there's only been one charge to each account.

The problem either comes by with multiple attempts to use a credit card, or multiple charges to a single game account. Either one sets of the "whoa, partner!" flag and you'll have to wait a day.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Firstly, read Healix's post again. That is NOT what it says.
Secondly, different accounts is irrelevant. It has to do with using the same card at NCSoft's online store. It doesn't matter how many accounts are involved.

    Blocky Lag

    [ QUOTE ]
Ever since i got a new graphic card, my game seems to be all block laggy. Look at the picture. My old card was like a geforce fx 5500, so i put in a geforce fx 6200.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Okay, you went the wrong way. The last 3 digits tell you the relative power of the card so a 6200 is less powerful than a 5500. It's at the low end of the 6000 series.
