I think blasters and controllers have worse END issues than tanks do

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd love for you to clarify how blasters have worse endurance issues than tankers. I may not be too keen on blaster issues, but endurance efficiency isn't one of them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The kid just does not know what he is talking about.

Oh, of course. Denigrate any who disagree.

What surprises me is that this is actually a business. I mean, wtf?

You know those emails you get about Nigerian royalty driven from the country and needing your help to transfer millions? Can you guess why those emails keep getting sent? Yes, there really are people out there who are that stupid. Every so often, one of them ends up in the news.

The kind of mentality that would buy an account off EBay is the same sort of person who would go to an RMT site.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
As the title suggests, I see two main problems with Tankers:

    1) Their endurance efficiency
    2) They don't stack well on teams

    [/ QUOTE ]
Right off, I disagree. I think blasters and controllers have worse END issues than tanks do. For the most part, the tanker END issue isn't because of the AT - it's because of no Stamina and lousy enhancements - but everyone has the same problem.

As for stacking on teams, the situations where they don't stack well are a failing of the PLAYERS, not the ARCHETYPE. Multiple tanks can be extremely effective if they know what they are doing and work as a team.

I am upset I was enjoying Comic Con and missed this thread.

We could lobotomize you every week-end, so it would be like reading this thread over and over again.
  5. I didn't even read the guides. Place a floor safe. Place a second one. Move one around so that you manage to stack it on top of the other. It's a bit tricky, since you can actually have them intersecting so you can 'stack' one halfway up the other.

Once one is on top of the other, you can remove the one on the bottom. Then you can add more on top of the floating one or, even better, stuck to one side of it and expand laterally. Just mess around with it. That's how I started.

One useful tip: it's sometimes helpful to move your camera position so that you're looking up from under the floor. That can help when you're stacking in mid-air.

But it does get a little annoying to see my home server constantly attacked, belittled, insulted, etc whenever someone asks a question about servers....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it's a good plan. If they get people to go to other servers, it makes the population spread more uniform. It's like the server listing. It used to have the busiest one at the top (after the one you were just on) and new people would often just pick the first one. Now they have the least busy at the top.

<ahem> The correct spelling is Kool-Aid. This is a common practice - deliberately spell a word wrong so it's a new word and trademark it. This is why Miller has 'Artic Ice' and we have 'Infiniti' cars.
  8. They may just add some random Day Jobs if they can come up with locations that make sense. The only way I could see real justification is if Going Rogue adds a specific building for transportation to Praetorian Earth. If so, then it would likely have a Day Job associated with the location - maybe something like Portal Technician since the Portal Corp one is just 'Intern'.

    power pool?

    [ QUOTE ]
Well there are two possibilities here. The first is that Jump Kick is in the Powers tab, but you didn't scroll down far enough to see it.
    ...
The second possibility is that you didn't actually pick it. After selecting a pool power from the list on the other screen, you have to confirm it in the main power-selection screen.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Both good points. I can also think of a third possibility. If the OP only has one power tray displayed, it could be full and the new power got put in the second tray. While this isn't likely at level 6, it is possible.

    c) I don't like hard copies. I'd rather have digital ones, they don't get scratched, if you lose it you just d/l it again, if you lose your activation code you can have it e-mailed to you once more, etc, etc, etc...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Even if you do buy a box version, it represents a permanent upgrade to your account. You don't need anything to reinstall, regardless of whether you go with digital or hard copy.

However, getting a physical copy has the following advantages with ZERO down-side:
    1) You can re-install or install to another computer faster, since you don't have to download almost 3GB of data.
    2) The Good vs Evil and Architect box versions give you a 'pack of goodies' (costume parts, powers, etc) that normally retails for $10. Also, you get one free month of game time, which normally costs $15. That's $25 of value which you can easily find a copy for around $20, sometimes significantly less.

P.S. The Good vs Evil box gives you the Good vs Evil pack, while the Architect box lets you pick either the Cyborg or Magic booster packs.
  12. My feeling in general is that if you need to ask if you should sell them, then yes, you should. That kind of influence can get you so much performance from non-purple IO sets.

    1) Why skip the 2 Resists? Is there not enough energy or fire damage to protect from at end game? (50) That's 10% resist and 20-20% effect resist. (what is effect anyway)
It's a question of prioritizing. The benefit is relatively small and some people want more attacks or more pool powers. It depends what you're building for. If you're building for damage output, or for versatility, you might need other stuff. If you're building primarily for survival, they're a good idea. My invuln has all the passives.

    2) Tough, i usually get. Is weave really wanted? That's 5 toggles running, can the end. be maintained easily? (without getting alot of sets) I mainly just run common recipes on builds.
eh, another one about priorities. I have Tough on my invuln but didn't have room for Weave. My shield tank has both. The endurance is manageable. You don't need a lot of expensive sets. All you really need is enough to get the performance you need in your attacks but also squeeze some end reduction in there. Frankenslotting is cheap and will easily accomplish that. My shield/axe tank has 7 toggles.

Look smurph, if they tripled the drop rate of purples but didnt have a price cap, the market manipulators would just buy them up and flip them still demanding 200 million to a billion inf for one IO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Obivously, the market doesn't work the way you think it does. Not even close.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Also, shouldn't there be a formula for drops? Like if there are 100k subscribers, then there should be around 100 purple drops a month. Just random numbers here, but my point is if the ratio of purple drops decreases dramaticly, which it has due to the MA addiction, shouldn't the drop rate be raised to compinsate?

I would just think the Devs would have a general idea of an amount of rares they want to be dropping, and if that # drops to 1/4 or 1/2 of what they are expecting...they would raise the drop rate. If people leave the MA or whatever and too many purples start dropping, then they lower it again. Am I wrong to expect this type of micro managing the game economy?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not necessarily, but that would be the wrong way to manage it. The drops should not be based on raw population. Certain activities give certain types of drops. If people want them, then they should engage in the type of activities that will get them the drops.

As for raising the drop rate due to people being in MA, no. If people want they drops, they should get out of MA.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I'm sure it has been mentioned, but is a price cap pretty much frowned upon? If $150 million was set as the absolute highest price you could list something at, it would help a little. I think $150 million infamy is quite a bit, and personaly don't feel any one item should be selling for more than that. Just my opinion of course, but I'm curious what kind of feedback a price cap has recieved in the past?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Based on real-life examples, this would fail. Items would be sold 'off market' at whatever prices people were willing to pay. This would result in a less active / less liquid market and, therefore, higher prices.
  17. 1) 'Float' it. Use a stack of safes, desks, etc to get it to the height you want, then remove the objects from under it. Yes, it will stay there, floating in mid-air.

    2) A lot of bases use the tech teleport beacons to simulate a bank of wall monitors giving views of the city. These are made to be wall-mounted.

Funny they'll purge posts from members actually using the forum, but wont ever purge the names of characters that haven't been used in years in-game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Get the facts before you smirk. They do release names, but only under certain circumstances. If you left the game for a year and came back to find your favorite character had lost his name, that would suck, wouldn't it? There are two sides to the situation.

The trick for sat is to open 5-10 updaters all at once. One will connect relatively quickly then you can close the others as they error out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This. I know two people on satellite who use this method (although I think five might be on the low side).
  20. Correct. Reconstruction gives resistance to toxic (and would not get the bonus) and Dull Pain does not give +resistance. The rest of the powers are +regen powers, rather than healing powers.

These bonuses are great for the Empathy set, which has 3 straight heal powers.

    Sounds identical to me.

[/ QUOTE ] It's very close, but it does sound a little higher pitched and hollow than it used to be... I might not have noticed if it wasn't for this thread. That's how close it is.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As I stated, it sounds exactly the same to me. And I was playing close attention too, due to logging in specifically to check it. In fact, I was EXPECTING it to sound different, due to this thread.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
In-fact any heal using this IO set or virtually any IO set might be nullified of any healing bonus due to the fact that the IO set provides its own bonuses.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not really sure what you're trying to say here. It sounds like: "Since an IO set provides other bonuses when slotted in a healing power, that will make the healing bonus not count." If that's what you're saying, then it's completely wrong. Firstly, the IO sets are not proving their bonuses to the power; they're applying the bonuses to YOU. Second, it's not "healing powers with other effects"; it's just healing powers that give damage resistance.

(shrug) It depends. Tell us what you plan to do with this tank.

Lots of people skip Resist Energies and Resist Elements (although they're better than they used to be). Plenty skip Unstoppable. Personally, I took all 9.

Your most important powers are: Temporary Invulnerability, Dull Pain, Invincibility, Unyielding and Tough Hide. After that, it gets pretty subjective. Most people take Resist Physical Damage because S/L damage is so common.

Slotting is pretty straightforward on most of the main ones. On Invincibility, I would say standard practice is to start with defbuff, some end reduction is nice, then add accbuff later. On the 3 passive resists, slotting isn't a big deal since they only give 10% resistance (increased from 7.5%). I have some IO set pieces in there and get the resistance up to about 13%. I'm not going to stress out trying to get an extra 2%. Instead I went with sets for regen bonus.

It sounds like you are using the wrong emote, since ;drumlow gives the "snare drum" sound. If that's not the case you might want to try Verifying your files, since both ;drum and ;drumlow work normally for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I confirmed with 4 other players last night before I sent in the ticket. I know the difference between /e drum and /e drumlow. I was using /e drum and the sound was the same slow beat of /e drum (not the fast beat of /e drumlow) but sounded like a weak snare drum instead of a big bass drum.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, maybe something was weird for all four of you?
I just tested both emotes, IN THE PAST 60 SECONDS, and they work perfectly and sound just the same way they always have. The /drum emote sounds like a kettle drum.
