Quote:I don't question their intent. But, as you yourself pointed out, their plans don't always work. They don't want farmers in AE.
Their previous punitive campaign to move them out was an unmitigated disaster.
Adding team size to the mission slider is an obvious effort to draw them out by improving the rewards available via 'real' content. It's a feature that will appeal only to farmers and powergamers, there's no point to it except as a lure to get those types of players out of AE.
Don't listen to what the devs say, watch what they do.
The intent behind this move is obvious. -
Quote:Your points are good, but I wonder if your confidence is misplaced. There are certainly some badges that need to be adjusted, but what was done to the MA badges was just ridiculous. If they trash the entire badge system in a similar vein, I'm confident they will lose some players over it.This is a game we're talking about. It's supposed to be fun. Sure, it should have challenges, even some extremely difficult ones. But the challenges should be intentional and they should be part of a thoughtfully designed framework. Accolade requirements like having to get 10 million points of damage or defeat 500 summoned illusionists were designed without an understanding of what was reasonable in regular gameplay. It's the right decision to tone them down. I don't want to see them trivialized, but I'm confident Synapse won't do that. I think there's a happy medium that's possible between stupidly difficult and stupidly trivial.

I can think of another possibility. We know that the system has 'shared aggro' (not sure if that's the official name) where a scrapper might attack a group and get attacked in return, but some enemies will also attack teammates who have done nothing.
Presumably this system should not 'see through' stealth or invisibility, but maybe it is. -
Quote:I don't think so. All concrete and anecdotal information indicates otherwise. To double demand, every player would have to have two builds on every character. That's a total flight of fantasy.By having a 2nd build, you've just effectively doubled the amount of demand on the market.
I estimate the ACTUAL demand increase to be between 5 and 10%. -

Perhaps. But, as I said, from what we've been 'told', I see nothing to move people out of AE. As you indicate, 'ambiguous statements' are subject to interpretation.

The name rings a bell.
Didn't you have an avatar of a chick with a baseball bat?

Saw you standing there in Ouroboros. Maybe next time you should sign up for an event BEFORE the listed start time.
Cool toon, BTW.

Quote:Good post. Would read again. No, I don't fear the stare. It just creeps me out.
Its like...driving by a car wreck. Most people can't resist the compulsion to slow down and stare at the wreckage.
Would have used a similar example involving breasts and too tight of a bra...but...

I agree completely with this. I don't think companies would have the slightest concern about a character wearing their logo and behaving inappropriately. I think they would simply see the whole idea as a waste of their time.

A lot of people seem to be saying this. It may be that Cryptic intentionally positioned their game targeting WoW players who want to play a superhero, rather than superhero players looking for a different game. If this is true, given the market share of WoW, it seems like a sound decision.

Quote:It seems you're misunderstanding as well. You completely overlook the fact that AE lets you customize the enemies you are facing.Complete misunderstanding of why AE is used for PL farming rather than standard missions. The people that were farming for PL, will now migrate out of AE and incidentally generate a load of purples as the advantage that AE currently has will disappear.
Currently a lvl 50 and 5 lowbies go into AE, the mission is full of say 51s, but the lowbies auto SK up to 45 and get t3h ub4r XP.
This cannot be done outside of AE without bridges, so only 3 lowbies max can get the great XP. -
You can say that again. They're 'make your eyes bug out' good for positional defense. My shield tank has 2 sets.

Quote:Yes, but the 'going by label' is important because Luck of the Gambler +recharge is in its own category. It is NOT the same as the regular 7.5% bonus. i.e. It has a different LABEL.I have discovered suprising news (no doubt a number of you know already) that the number and the label match. Per the wiki, the label comes from the multiple of the base value for that bonus type... and no bonus exists as yet that does not match one of the multiples.

Just do what I usually do. Check the global name on anyone within draw distance.
-
Your example was just as ludicrous the first time. I would think that a look at the real world and seeing all the places that companies ARE willing to put their logos would indicate your argument has no basis in reality.

Quote:Except the supersidekicking goes into effect EVERYWHERE. Thus, it is a non-factor in any comparison between AE and regular content. Same deal with the team size setting.Clearly the auto SK to 45 abuse goes also.
I think that will be enough to draw at least some of the farmers out.
So far, we haven't been informed of anything that affects AE and regular content DIFFERENTLY. That's what it would take to shift the population around. -
Well, it's nothing to be ashamed of, either. Some people do actually create infringing names completely by accident. And you're not permanently marked with a 'scarlet letter'.

Quote:EASILY. My tank has 2 generic recharge in it and 20% global recharge bonus. That's enough for it to be perma. I have a bit over 5 seconds of overlap."That is correct. At least, it sounds like about the right number." -Ironblade
I did not post the numbers because I thought they were incorrect. I posted them for reference in relation to my questions about recharge, Rage and Hasten. So to rephrase my question, if I remove the lvl 50 Recharge enhancement from Rage will it remain perma? -
Did they really? How do you KNOW this? There is a difference between merging the "forums" and the "forum servers". And if you go back and READ, no one even thought you said they merged the GAME servers. You were being corrected about the difference between "forums" and "forum servers".
