You are correct. Another one you might see is LCTM. This refers to the message the game displays when a connection is lost: Lost Connection To Mapserver.
-
um.... "Reply hazy. Ask again later."
I only have one slot in it since I just got the power.

From the Issue 16 notes:
"New Crystal and Lava Themes for Stone Melee, Stone Armor, Earth Control and Earth Assault."
Oh snap! -
Unfortunately, not necessarily. One of them could be experiencing a bug.

We REALLY need a formal announcement on this so that it can be bugged in-game if it doesn't work as intended. -

Quote:<sigh> False. You said that you don't recall him saying that he refused to change requirements after people got the badge. When I post a direct quote (with audio) from Positron saying exactly that, you backpedal.
Your exact statement with which I took exception was:
"Without people actively subverting the system, Positron would have looked at the badge requirements sooner."
I took exception to your claiming to know Posi's thought process and/or state of mind. And don't you think -repping my last response was a bit childish? I was going to -rep you back with a suitable reply and signing it, as you did. But one of us is bigger than that. -
uh huh
right

<approaches the witness>
"Do you, or do you not, have a character named 'Don't SB Me'? Admit it!"

Quote:Oh, now INFINITY is a dead server? Get real.Curiouser and curiouser... *knowing the requirements for it* How about the prestige issue though? That'll come from the SG that has the plans... Or, yanno, you could just kill 750 people in PvP in SG mode. ^_^
P.S. You can farm this so fast and so easy it's not funny. -
Are you positive? The game explicitly warns you that such items will be lost if you quit an SG and I *HAVE* tested this and found it to be true, but that was a LONG time ago.
We have the Dimensional Vortex. And I floated it when I learned that the big disk animation extends below the ground level.Quote:Good luck with that.... on a dead server. Anyway, im all set on the TECH one. Is there an ARCANE version of the FUSION generator? If so im still looking for a base that has it.
Anything and everything counts. Furthermore, these kills are not limited by the timer that affects rep and recipe drops. -

Quote:Did they get it on camera when her account got banned? That would have been the best part! The show was all over Champagne Bubbly. It showed her buying the PL, the PL guy logging her character in and playing, then the account holder logging Champagne Bubbly back in and getting all excited about all the levels she got. Apparently Champagne Bubbly and her husband never read the EULA.

Quote:Well, I think invuln, ice or shield would be fine. I've taken all three of those to 50.I'll add two items I don't want to the original question, no Stone as I hate the lack of speed. Managed to get one to 26 or so and loathed it mostly. And no WP as I have a WP scrapper @50 who I love but find it difficult to survive.
I think fire would be a bit squishy for your tastes and my dark armor tank is only lvl 16 so far. (And you already ruled out stone and WP, though I would not have suggested stone for a 'starter tank'.)
Since you specifically focus on the STF/ITF/5TF, I would lean toward invuln. I'm not saying ice or shield can't handle them, I just wouldn't know. When I tank one of those TF's, I use my invuln and it's easy. He has Tough but not Weave and no defense bonuses at all. He's IO'ed for regen, around 300%, which can be done remarkably cheap since it's generally (always?) the first set bonus. -
Not really.

I originally started playing the market way back when in order to IO Ironblade. Well, I took care of that and I don't feel that I play any other toons enough to justify purpling them. All my toons above 35 are IO'ed. My dark/dark tank is only 16 and he already has a Steadfast -knockback (which cost me all of 3.1 million) and a Miracle +recovery (to slot at 17, which I bought with merits).
Anything I can't buy cheap, I can buy with merits and I have over 6,000 of them lying around. No, I'm not grinding for merits (because I don't really need them that much) - I've been working on the last influence badge and like to do it by running TF's.
And yet, I still mess with the market because it's fun. I just do it a lot less because, if you're doing it for fun, you don't need to hit any target amounts. If I was doing it for other people, it would become WORK. bleagh! -

Quote:hmm.... Perhaps. If the upcoming changes in Issue 16 are consistent with this analysis, I'll be quite pleased. I've played some really extraordinary AE arcs but haven't been in there lately because you have to wade through so much garbage.A great example is the change to the AE badges, which you can now practically get all for walking into the digitizing beam. They stated clearly that they didn't want people badge farming in the AE, so they removed any reason to. Meanwhile, other potential, non-AE badge tweaks don't appear to have anything like that scale of change in store. Another example would be the farmer-enabling I16 difficulty settings changes. The devs are clearly aware of how this will be used, going so far as to comment here on the boards how they knew that specific posters known for love of farming would love the change. That suggests they don't oppose farming directly - just farming in the AE.
On the other hand, if they ream the rest of the badges like they did with the AE ones, I'll be an unhappy camper. -
Quote:Actually, it isn't a bad standard at all. Without people actively subverting the system, Positron would have looked at the badge requirements sooner.Quote:Ah, and you got this from your crystal ball or telepathy? I don't recall him actually SAYING this. If we can assume whatever we want, then base our arguments on those assumptions, well, the sky's the limit, isn't it?I forgot nothing. However I see that you equate 'looking at badge requirements' in general with the particulars of his excuse for Empath (which I do agree was a lame one).Quote:My, how quickly people forget. To refresh your memory, Positron discussed Empath with DJ Jules and Castle on Split Infinity Radio. (Link to the MP3 so you can listen yourself.)
Additionally, Positron and CuppaJo had been interviewed several years ago on City Info Terminal (I'm not sure if Maverick still has it, but it was lost for public access in a server move around 2 years ago) that said the reason that they limited credit to actual healing was that they did not want the badge to be farmed.
So you see I don't need to assume anything here. Positron has said that he has held back badge changes because people have "earned" said badges. You fail.
I dispute that this is a logical conclusion / chain of thought.
Oh, and I mark you "Fail" for your inapplicable "You fail." comment.
My FACTS were all in order. I was simply disputing your conclusions.
P.S. My initial 'crystal ball' comment got me positive commentary, so I wasn't the only one to take issue with your statement. -

Quote:When the TF is called in, the task force does END. However, the team is not disbanded/dissolved. Make no mistake, though, the task force is over and your normal contacts are displayed. There is no need to quit the team to exit TF mode.I'm not positive, but it might depend. They recently just changed the TF settings so that even if someone calls the final mission in, the TF doesn't disband until everyone quits.
When a TF team only has two members and one DC's, there is no ill effect. When they log in, they will still be on the team. You can absolutely be online alone and still be in a task force. I guarantee it was working like this as of last Friday, which is when I last soloed a task force. Team size was 2, with the other hero logged out.Quote:I've DC'd in the AE missions with only one other person and I don't recall if I logged back in on the team or not. However, if you're doing a small TF and had to get additional members to start the mission and then leave, you have lots more control over this.
When the other people leave, as them to exit the game but not to click the "Quit Task Force" button. As long as they do this, I believe they still register as being on the team. That way if there are only two of you actually doing the TF, as long as one of the other offline "startup" people is still considered "on the team," you shouldn't disband when there's only one person left online.
In your specific example, where you have other people on the team to start it, you generally do NOT want them to exit. You want them to quit the task force. If you start a Manticore TF (7 to start) and plan to duo it, if the other five simply log out, the missions will still be spawning for a team of 7. If the other five QUIT the TF, the missions will spawn for a team of 2.
As an aside: many people still believe (and publicly state) that a task force will always spawn for the team size needed to start it. This is completely false. If people quit the TF, spawn size is reduced down to a minimum team size of 2. -
It's not a lame excuse at all. Your computer may be powerful enough to run NASA Mission Control. The game has to target a larger population.

Quote:Wrong already. Probably not much point in reading the rest. Farming and PL'ing were ALWAYS here. They just weren't so 'in your face'.Farming didn't exist (in any great way) until IOs and Auction House appeared.
And farming and PL'ing didn't have to be 'designed in'. The very nature of games of this sort make these things POSSIBLE. If it's possible, people will do it.
Way wrong again. This would actually drive prices higher because a 'real' black market would come into existence. So, once again, the basic premise is totally flawed.Quote:Therefore this could have been prevented or the perceived need lessened in a few ways which on the surface seem simple enough. Introduce a price cap in AH/BM. -
Quote:Seriously. You don't even need a stone for the STF.You really hear that? Only Stone for the ITF? I guess the idiots are everywhere.
Anyway, my tanks, in order of creation:
50 invuln/EM
50 ice/SS
50 shield/axe
16 dark/dark
The invuln/EM has Tough, is IO'ed for 300% regen and has Taunt 5-slotted. He's intended for 'extreme tanking' - multiple GM's, Hami raid, STF, etc. On the ITF, the Cimerorans got his base defense down to -100%. BFD. It didn't help them.
The ice/SS is built (and IO'ed) for damage. He has no Taunt, but both Taunt auras. He has 2 AoEs and 2 ranged attacks from his secondary and epic. No Tough or Weave because his AoE's will either have the enemy bouncing around or running away in slow motion.
The shield/mace really strikes an excellent balance between survivability and damage. He has 51% melee def and 48% for range/AoE. He has both Tough and Weave and leading off with Shield Charge and Whirling Axe is pretty darn ugly. He's mainly IO'ed for recharge and END recovery (seven toggles in combat).
Dark armor is an interesting set. It gives resistance to some oddball damage types like toxic and psionic. He already has Taunt and I will be taking Tough to get the S/L up there. I've already gotten him a lvl 20 Miracle +recovery he can slot when he hits 17. I think I'll also be IO'ing for recharge. Having two self-heal powers will be a big part of his survivability.
I think part of the reason I like tanks relates to why I hardly play blasters. I don't like the FPS feel of blasters. Shoot shoot shoot fast fast fast or you're dead. If I wanted to do that, I'd play an FPS. With a tank, I can plan and strategize. I can pull my camera back and survey the battlefield. I can keep an eye on everyone else because I'm practically unkillable. If someone is engaging a boss and gradually backing away - toward another spawn - I can notice it and do something about it before they get attacked from behind.
I like having a tank for every purpose I might have. I have one I use for the STF. I have one I use for soloing. And if I know in advance what type of enemies I'll be facing, I can pick a suitable tank. "Can you help me with a Malta arc?" "Sure, I'll get my ice tank with slow resist up the wazoo and who the sappers can hardly ever hit."
P.S. No fire on my tanks. I figured fire was all about the damage and we didn't have those sets for scrappers yet, so I have a 50 fire/fire brute. -
Quote:I had someone in the SG ask why the base needed so many safes and where I was putting them, since they hadn't noticed any.Ohh yeah......Im a cubicle boy lol. My SG mates keep asking "wth do you keep buying cubicles then selling them for ----you got some sort of black market cubicle business?"
