Quote:That might be YOUR definition, but it's not *THE* definition. Different tank sets are suited to different enemy types.I want it known, that ONLY Vengeance gives Fire, Dark and Electric KB RESISTANCE. This means They all have a lowered and extremely slim chance of getting the MoSTF badges that they may want. This isn't fair NCSoft. We expect to use tanks as tanks. The definition of a tank is to be able to stand toe to toe with things such as recluse.
As for the MoSTF badge, totally bogus argument. I've been on runs with 2 tanks. I've been on runs with no tanks. (FYI, easiest STF I ever saw had NO TANK.) I've been on runs that had a kheld on the team - people had complained there would be prejudice against them due to the possibility of a cyst spawning at a bad spot. ANYONE can get the MoSTF badge. AT and powersets only seemed like a big deal at the very beginning before anyone had worked out tactics. -
Quote:This. It's also worth noting that we get way less enhancement drops than we used to since it was changed a while back on the theory of 'better to get nothing than get garbage that fills your tray'. At higher levels, you just won't get training or DO enhancements.I believe the rules for exemplaring haven't changed:
No enhancement drops while exemplared, except if granted as an end of mission reward.
I did a TF the other day (which I was in the correct level range) and got 3 enhancements - and one of those was from the AV defeat. -
Not a valid comparison. Unyielding, for example, not only gives 10 points of knockback protection, it also gives TEN THOUSAND PERCENT resistance to knockback.

Yes, I forgot to mention this. My first tank was invuln and it was just TORTURE until I got SO's. He didn't feel like a tank at all. My ice tank seemed considerably tougher than everyone around him even at very low level. In fact, when I'm going to do the Cavern trial (which exemps to 15) and fight our way through, I usually use my ice tank.

Quote:Ah, you misunderstood me. I was not referring to the in-game 'ignore' function. I just meant that I would have disregarded (i.e. not replied to) your broadcast.Yeah because only seeing 1 person in LFG tab, NO broadcast at all even after 30+min in broadcast, then trying to see if anyone is there by shouting what I did and getting no response sounds like a total healthy population. But I'm sure it's because everyone pre-ignored me when I entered the zone because they knew I was going to ask if the server is dead in the future.

Put me on team one with the cat cooties. I'll probably bring Ironblade, since the zombies take extra damage from lethal and he has both stealth and recall.

Quote:I've taken ice and shield to 50 and they're both very good. It's really tough to say which is tougher since the builds are not similar (I would say my shield tank is tougher, but he has Tough and Weave while my ice tank has neither of those). 'Out of the box', with no IO's or power pools, I think ice is a bit tougher.Pyro TYVM! Perfectly described for me, ty ty ty! I have been wanting to try shield(just b/c they are cool) and ice but like you said, I don't see much of them too so I figured ice armor wasn't great but I always went by if i like it, try it.
They're both great sets to play, though. If you're really keen on costumes, I'd go with shield. The ice armors cover your costume and there are *A LOT* of just stunning shield options. -
Quote:Maybe they could add something new, like side-switching.1)Well having read all the responses ranging from intelligent to the annoyingly smug. How then do you suggest COH go about getting more people to be active on certain servers?OK forget the kill a server idea/thought whatever..got another idea?

Of course, I'm assuming you're talking about increasing population in general. If you're talking about specifically addressing low-population servers - the devs SHOULDN'T. Having a variety of population levels is a good thing. -
Quote:I know; it's total BS. And the RP'ers have conniptions trying to explain how I can hand you a billion influence. Or I can sit in Wentworths and 'earn' a billion influence.I HATE when people say this, Influence/Infamy is currency. Why? Because you can't buy a fusion reactor by just being popular. You need money
Maybe at once point, it could be explained as actual 'influence' but, when the devs gave us the market, that ended the charade. -
Quote:Since you weren't around, you're not aware that they upgraded the server capacity. You are exactly correct to call the indicators "server load". They are not a population indicator.Well I just resubbed yesterday for something to do while training skills in EvE. Really the game seems very dead.
I play on Freedom. Didn't see server load go above green last night or today, on a weekend.
Yeah, well, I would have ignored you too.Quote:NOONE and I mean NOONE talks in broadcast, I shouted "well I guess this game is dead" in broadcast in Cap, no replies.
Because they threw all the farmers and PL'ers out. They instituted changes to the difficulty structure that make farming easier in regular missions and told everyone to get the farming out of AE (and deleted toons and banned accounts to prove they meant it).Quote:AE in Cap which was completely packed before I left ~6 months ago had 2 people in it both afk.
Okay. Stay or go. Your call. Form an opinion, make your judgment, etc. Only a fool would try to tell you that your impression is 'wrong'.Quote:Doesn't look good. -
Quote:Geeze, here we go again. Maybe so that you have to make CHOICES in your build. Go for uber performance or keep your set bonuses when you exemp - YOUR DECISION.However since we now get +5 powers shouldn't we also get +5 set bonusses?
I never understood this rule anyway. Why get penalized for having the best IOs we can get our hands on?
And they're not the "best IOs". If you want the best, get purples. They *DO* keep the bonuses no matter how low you exemp. -
Quote:Well, if they turn out to be a thief, why would you bother demoting them? I would just kick their sorry butt out of the SG. And that works fine when they're offline.Personally, offline SG invites and Promotion-demotion would be nice. like if you promote someone to the point they can access most of the storage in the sg base and they go offline, later you hear they like to ninja stuff out of them to sell and you want to demote them so they can't, but you cant because they aren't online. It's worthless really and a huge risk to not have this feature.

It could also be that the mission is back-loaded. The most extreme example of this is the Atta mission in the Hollows. People often wonder if there is a problem with the level setting since the initial enemies are blue and green (assuming default difficulty setting).

.... and I won't be there. My DSL starting acting up right after the STF. We were actually posing for our victory screenshot when I got LCTM and it's been wonky since. It seems to be settling down, but I don't want to be in the middle of anything if it goes out again.

Yep. Easiest run I ever had was 6 controllers, 1 defender, 1 blaster. In hindsight, we should have made it a Master run. We had exactly one death, at a silly point (I think it was against Black Scorpion) because we kept goofing around.

Quote:8) someone within aggro range (YOU)Let's complete the list of things that work to pop buried mobs, since we keep missing some:
1) someone within aggro range (lowbie character)
2) damage aura
3) drop power (location targeted AoE)
4) taunt aura
5) any debuff or mezz aura
6) combat pets
7) veteran buff pets
anything I missed?
When I was hunting Coralax, I used Ouroboros to exemp my badger to level 9.

Quote:It's not doing it for me. Also, I would not consider that a QOL feature, but rather a stupid security breach.Has anyone else seen this? I'm sorry if it was a patch note I missed or if there's another thread, I just wanted to comment since I hadn't seen it mentioned:
I have been logging characters in and out the last couple of days, and I noticed that the game is remembering my password without me having to type it. -
Actually, they have already explained their purpose. The -1 setting made it absurdly easy to get the 'Master of' task force badges. They have stated that this is a TEMPORARY solution until they can code some sort of exception handling for the 'Master' TF's.
-
At one point, they did. However, it seems that a significant number of new players, having no preference, simply picked the first server listed to make characters. Having the lowest load server at the top uses this tendency to distribute the population more evenly.
-
Of course, this is ENTIRELY subjective. How much, or how little, work "SHOULD" it take? The above is purely your opinion. And while we have people posting that it's too hard to find teams, we also have people complaining about getting too many invites to teams.

Quote:No, they are listed in order of load, so you have relatively detailed information on population. When I make a toon there is no indication beyond the bubbles what server population is like, and the vast majority of the time they are all ranked the same 1 bubble.
And if you're going to say, "A new player wouldn't know that." don't bother. A new player would likely think that 1 green bubble is better than 2 yellow ones so BOTH types of ranking would need to be explained to provide useful information.
